Having spent the better part of a decade watching Sam Riegel pull off some of the most incredible moves in this game, watching him pull off this Hail Mary and fully sacrifice his own character in order to save the party was nothing short of devastating. Beautiful, but devastating.

And also knowing how he is as a player, I don't believe any part of FCG would be 'willing' to return as per the relevant spells that could potentially bring him back.

But now I'm curious, is Sam going to pick his own character for the next one like he did with Tary, or is he going to have Liam choose the new one?

With Tary it was meant to blindside the group so it made sense Sam didn't have Liam choose for that instance, but this time they are all well aware that Sam will be bringing in a new character so I wonder if he'll have Liam choose again.

I'm very curious what'll happen, but I can only assume that regardless of who makes the choice they'll still seek to fill the healer role.

matt ruling that the technical damage from the explosion was irrelevant due to the power and weight of fcg’s sacrifice is what really got me. even if sam rolled the max possible number on the dice, it wouldn’t have even brought otohan to below where she was before she took the health potion. mechanically speaking, she should have survived that blast by a LOT of hit points. but this was a player willingly killing their own character, beyond reviving and even potentially beyond resurrection, to give the rest of the party any advantage they could, and he rewarded that with the death of an antagonist that has haunted this campaign from the very beginning. unreal fucking plays by both matt and sam tonight.

I haven't even seen it yet because I'm late but after what we've learned, knowing that Sam came back during a live show, with thousands of people cheering for him! Knowing this feels heartwarming and amazing because he got to return like the absolute king that he is. This man has made people laugh and cry for years, so coming back to such an audience after winning his battle against cancer feels like... I don't know guys, that is just what he deserved and I hope he felt the love and support and everything else.
