Funeral homes refused to take the body of the Uvalde Shooter, thus it was left in the morgue for nearly a month

According to a story in the Independent, Salvador Ramos' body was delayed in a morgue for a month because the nearby funeral houses wouldn't take it. Ramos was the shooter who carried out the slaughter in a school in Uvalde, Texas. On May 24, 18-year-old Ramos entered the building and started shooting, leaving 19 pupils and two teachers dead. One of the bloodiest mass shootings in American history occurred there. Additionally, the cops have come under fire for waiting an hour to enter the classroom and kill Ramos. The autopsy was performed on May 27 and the cremation took place three and a half weeks later, according to an Independent investigation. Uvalde coroner Eulalio "Lalo" Diaz Jr. was described by the site as claiming that the delay was brought on by the locals' reluctance to handle the killer's remains and the conflict among Ramos' family. His body was turned away by Rushing-Estes-Knowles and Hillcrest Memorial in Uvalde. "When they arrived at him, the local funeral homes declared, "We don't want to deal with him." He needed to be kept for three weeks. While the victims' funerals were taking place, I was still debating how to handle him. It was a challenging period, "The coroner continued. Her response to them was “you have no right to judge my son.” During the exchange she also apologized to the families, “I know my son was a coward and you don't think I don't know that, I know. Dr. Wes here again everyone, it hurts to have to make back-to-back IG posts on national tragedies but our country and especially its kids have had a horrible past couple weeks, and the shooting in Texas a few days ago was a special sort of anguish. @iambeckyg posted up this collage of the children who lost their lives in the deadly onslaught at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, and seeing each of those faces is like a new gut punch every time. Especially for a parent or anyone planning on starting a family soon but also for America in general, as we mourn yet another horrific tragedy in our schools. Like Sandy Hook all over again, but in some ways even more tragic with the news that law enforcement waited over an hour (78 minutes) to move in and take out the shooter (and even then it was an off-duty Border Patrol agent). Que descansen en paz, niños inocentes, y que Dios esté con Ustedes y sus familias. I could finish this with a note of cynicism and resignation about anything being done to prevent this in the future, and the truth it's probably justified, but the US is already rife with such corrosive sentiment. Before going to shoot 19 children and two teachers dead at #robbelementaryschool yesterday, #salvadorramos posted photos of his gun on social media and tagged a girl called @epnupes. After the deadly shooting, epnupes was contacted by the authorities and she had to release the final chat between herself and the shooter to prove she knew nothing of his plans and didn't actually know him like that.
