A year ago in April 22, I got my own bilateral salpingectomy :) See the entire comic: Bilateral Salpingectomy by Rosalarian is just a few pages longer, but here's the most info-packed panels.
This was a relatively simple procedure for an outpatient surgery, but a vasectomy is way easier! If you have a penis, no need for any/more kids, and have partners who could possibly get pregnant, please consider getting yourself fixed to protect them from an unwanted pregnancy! More people with penises taking responsibility for birth control can have an incredibly positive impact in these troubled times.
I was lucky to be covered by insurance so I don't know the value of my own salpingectomy. According to some comments and the full-length comic, you can expect the cost in dollars to be like $22,000. Vasectomies on the other hand, I have heard anecdotes for as little as $750 out of pocket.

5 things I wish I knew before having my fallopians tubes removed
1. That I'd have cramping and vaginal bleeding (I don't know why that thought never crossed my mind)
2. That one of the incisions would be in my belly button
3. That incisions itch really bad
4. That main pain meds would make me so constipated
5. That you get asked the same questions like 10 times before the surgery
Would still get the surgery and I'm so grateful my OBGYN approved it

I was telling a friend about how I just signed the consent forms for a salpingectomy, and my Spanish teacher overheard. Her issue was not, however, that I may want kids in the future.
She was confused that I'd get surgery when I don't even have a boyfriend, and apparently "I plan on being sexually active even if I don't get a partner soon" is not a good enough reason because I'm "not going to be walking around town with an 'im single' poster." I know I'm desperate, but godamn 😭
Imagine your teacher telling you that getting your tubes removed is stupid because you get no bitches (and you're a desperate ho, btw)

I’m getting a bilateral salpingectomy tomorrow, so if anyone has any final words for my fallopian tubes, speak now or forever hold your peace.
I’m gonna take them to the park and let them eat a burger like a dog that’s about to get euthanized.

Post-tubal ligation...salpingectomy?
Can I still get a bilateral salpingectomy if I've already had a tubal ligation?
Yes, but insurance coverage might be an obstacle. Here's how I figured it out:

I don't go here but uh
me: oh no so all the Black Widows had ovary-removing hysterectomies? are they on HRT, since they need to be conventionally attractive, conventionally feminine women and there's a risk of hormone changes compromising that? they also have increased danger of bone density loss, mood swings, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction...you're going to get into that right? because I fully believe that a secret Soviet assassin factory would do involuntary, unnecessary hysterectomies, but they'd also want their Sexy Assassins at peak Sexy Assassin performance. and even the women who've gotten out probably don't want to deal with those symptoms if they come up. so are we going to see Natasha taking estrogen, or...?
Marvel: no, they just can't :( have babies :( and by the way they sometimes think they're monsters because of that :( but that's all a hysterectomy does and we would know because we are very smart cis men!!!!

I've been spayed! My bilateral salpingectomy went fantastic and my surgical team was wonderful and affirming and even put on The National in the OR while I was getting settled because I said it was my favorite band. ❤️
I was so prepared for this to be a difficult fight but it was such a wonderfully powerful and affirming experience having a doctor who never doubted my choice and empowered me as an adult to make adult decisions about my body.
If anyone wants a rec for an incredible NYC-based gynecological surgeon, shoot me an ask. Or if you just have questions about the procedure, I'm happy to answer!

I got spayed the other day and having hEDS actually came in handy for once cause they didn’t hesitate to do it even though I’m young and in a very red state. Literally could not be happier, I’ll forget for a moment, remember, and get insanely giddy cause NO KIDS NO KIDS NO KIDS FOR ME

Some personal life update: got my tubes removed (sterilization) and it went really well! Laying down and recovering but I’m so grateful to have had the chance to make an informed decision about my own body and reproductive future as well as decrease my likelihood of ovarian cancer (which runs in my family) 🙏🏽.
Thinking back to 2022 when I was at my previous job as a community organizer, door knocking, canvassing, phonebanking like crazy so that Reproductive Freedom for All would pass in Michigan — and it did !
There’s still so much work to do to restore and maintain reproductive rights in the U.S., and a lot of it starts with education.
I’m feeling empowered (and also tired haha); if anyone has any questions around this procedure and generally permanent birth control related things, don’t hesitate to message me!
