no okay but fr when I was a translator of Ao no Exorcist scans from english to my native language sometimes there were terms that were non-translatable, because they were typical of Japanese culture or of particular religions and the english translators already had made do by creating compound words because with germanic languages you can at least do that, but my language’s rules do not allow to create compounds so I remember once spending a whole fricking 24hrs on a single speech bubble, pondering how to translate the meaning of the Japanese “salaryman”

funniest thing I’ve ever seen is a scan group that got an ask like ‘are you dropping [series]?’ and their response was ‘we’re so sorry it’s been taking so long, the manga references a lot buddhist text that haven’t been translated so our translator has been studying that to maintain accuracy’ LIKE

Hear ye, hear ye, all ye who pass by - ‘tis I! Back from the tomb, with a fresh new translation! As I’m sure you can guess by reading this post’s title, I finally translated Salaryman Exorcist Volume 1′s bonus pages! I believe now the entirety of this volume has been translated (all chapters available here, I recommend reading them first to get all the context of this double interview).

It took much longer than the other bonus pages, because this volume’s bonus pages are a 8 pages-long double interview with Katou Kazue and Sasaki Minoru. Translating this much at once was new to me, so I’m sorry if there are mistakes or weird sentences/syntax. Anyway, enjoy! For anime-only, there ARE spoilers for events after the Kyoto arc (on page 7 notably).

The anon who asked me for the “last” pages, I don’t know if you meant THIS by that ask, but I decided to try and translate this anyway because why not, and huge THANK YOU to you lovely anon, you meant this or not, because it was SO MUCH FUN to translate and it wasn’t that difficult  actually! Still, I should study Kansai-ben someday, I hope I got everything right but I don’t guarantee that! It’s very likely that I made some mistakes so if someone noticed something please let me know, feel free to write to me if you had ideas for better translation as well!

(In the world of salary Yuki) big brother Kin becomes a thorough nuisance**

*For those who may not know, in Japan women are supposed to give chocolates to men on Valentine’s day, and then men return the favor on White Day, which is in March. Obligatory chocolates (義理チョコ – giri choko) are chocolates which are given to male acquaintances or co-workers and don’t have any significant, romantic meaning to it, but they’re just a nice gesture (and may seem obligatory, because it seems that in some environments it is even considered impolite not to give chocolates on that day, or so I’ve heard). I think that the chocolate Mamushi made may be considered a 本命チョコ – a honmei choko, meaning „favorite  chocolate”, which are given to the person you really like.

**I had no idea had to translate that part, and I don’t even know if I understood it correctly. The sentence here is: 「（サラ雪の世界では）とことん邪魔になる金兄」。Please let me know if you know to how to translate that part correctly!
