In his Monochrome world
Fluff to angstt
w: Mentions of violence, Character death, mentions of blood, Mentions of death, Super OOC Sakura

Haruka Sakura had always known his world was different. Ever since he was a child, his reality had been one of shades—black, white, and gray. He was born with achromatopsia, a rare condition that made him completely colorblind. While others could revel in the vibrant colors of a sunset or the rich greens of spring, Sakura's life was one of muted contrasts. He never knew what it felt like to see a blue sky or the red of a rose; they were just concepts, ideas described by others, but never experienced by him.
He had learned to live with it, though. As he grew older, the dullness of his world became a constant companion, and he had resigned himself to the fact that he would never see the world as others did. But that all changed one fateful day.
It was a cold, overcast afternoon when he first saw her. Sakura was sitting on a bench at the park, lost in a book, when he heard the sound of laughter—a light, musical sound that pulled him from his reading. He looked up, and there she was, walking across the park, her hair flowing in the breeze. It was long, cascading down her back in waves, and it was red—a color so vivid, so bright, that Sakura was momentarily stunned. For a moment, he thought his eyes were deceiving him. He blinked, rubbed his eyes, and looked again, but the red was still there, striking and undeniable.
It wasn’t just her hair; her eyes, too, were a deep, warm shade of red, glowing like embers against the gray world. Sakura felt his heart skip a beat. It was impossible, yet here she was, the only color in his otherwise monochrome vision. He was frozen, unable to take his eyes off her, until she noticed him staring and smiled.
“Hi,” she said, her voice as warm as her eyes. “Do I know you?”
Sakura stammered, caught off guard. “I—uh, no. I don’t think so. Sorry, I was just... surprised.”
“Surprised?” She raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “Why’s that?”
sakura hesitated, but there was something about her that made him want to be honest. “I have achromatopsia,” he said. “I can’t see colors. Everything is black and white to me, except... you. Your hair and your eyes, they’re red. I’ve never seen color before, and yet... I can see yours.”
The girl’s smile softened, and she took a seat beside him on the bench. “That’s interesting,” she said, her tone curious. “I’ve never heard of something like that before. I’m Y/n, L/n Y/n, by the way.”
“Sakura Haruka” he replied, still in a daze. “Nice to meet you, Y/n.”
As they talked, Sakura found himself drawn to her. Y/n was lively, with a wit and warmth that made the world around them feel a little less cold. She had a way of making him laugh, of drawing him out of his shell, and for the first time in his life, Sakura felt like he was truly seeing. The days turned into weeks, and they began meeting regularly, exploring the city together, sharing stories and dreams.
Sakura learned that Y/n was an artist, which made sense to him. She had a passion for capturing beauty, for finding color even in the grayest corners of the world. She would show him her sketches, describing the colors she used, and though Sakura couldn’t see them, he could almost imagine the vivid hues she painted with her words.
But there was still one thing he couldn’t understand. “Why can I see your hair and eyes?” he asked one day, as they sat on a rooftop, watching the sun dip below the horizon. “It doesn’t make sense.”
Y/n thought for a moment, her red eyes thoughtful. “Maybe it’s because you see me differently,” she said, her voice gentle. “Maybe I’m the one thing in your world that’s different, and that’s why you can see a little bit of color.”
Sakura smiled, thinking about how true that was. Y/n was the only splash of color in his life, the only thing that brightened his dull, gray world. And he realized then that he was falling for her, that he had been falling for her since the moment he first saw her.
They were walking home one evening, after a night of stargazing and laughter, when everything changed. The street was quiet, and Y/n was telling a story, her hands gesturing animatedly, when Sakura noticed a car approaching. It was moving too fast, swerving slightly, and Sakura’s instincts kicked in. He grabbed Y/n’s arm, trying to pull her back, but the car sped up, veering directly toward them.
Sakura shouted, but it was too late. The car slammed into Y/n, sending her sprawling across the pavement, her red hair fanning out around her like a crimson halo. The car didn’t stop; it sped away, disappearing into the night, leaving Sakura kneeling beside her, his heart pounding, his hands shaking as he tried to wake her.
“Y/n, stay with me,” he pleaded, his voice breaking. “Please, stay with me.”
he picked her up in a bridal style, with a shaking hands, he started walking into a nearby hospital “There was a nearby hospital, I'm taking you there” he said voice laced with worry
“Haruka?” he heard her mumble, voice weak “We're almost there Y/n, please just stay awake for me.” he pleaded desperately, he could feel that the warmth of her body was slowly leaving, he could feel her tears dampening his shirt
“Haruka look at me” Y/n said weakly in between breaths, as much as sakura does not want to, they way her weak voice called his name made him look into her red eyes, the same eyes he fell in love with, her eyes stayed the same. Even though she was slowly losing her life yet her eyes still shines like a flame
“You're beautiful.” she told him, there was a tear that streamed down her face and before he could say anything he felt her body went limp and cold, Panicked rush through his body as he rushed his way to the hospital.
everything after that was a blur. And Sakura found himself sitting in a waiting room, his mind numb with fear. Hours passed, but when the doctor finally came out, his expression was grim.
“She’s in a coma,” the doctor said. “There’s a blood clot forming in her brain. We’re doing everything we can, but her condition is critical.”
Sakura felt like the ground had been pulled out from under him. He spent the next few days at the hospital, refusing to leave her side, holding her hand and talking to her, even though she couldn’t hear him. He told her about all the places they would go once she woke up, about how they would find whoever did this and make them pay.
But Y/n never woke up.
One morning, as Sakura sat by her bedside, the machines around her started beeping erratically. Nurses rushed in, followed by doctors, and Sakura was pushed out of the room. He stood in the hallway, watching through the window as they tried to save her, but deep down, he knew.
A few minutes later, a doctor came out, his face drawn and weary. “I’m sorry,” he said. “We couldn’t save her.”
Sakura felt his legs give out, and he sank to the floor, his chest tight, his vision blurring with tears. Y/n was gone, and with her, the only color he had ever known.
After Y/n’s death, something inside Sakura snapped. He couldn’t just let it go, couldn’t let the person who had taken her from him walk away. He began asking questions, talking to anyone who might have seen something that night, following leads that led him deeper into the city’s underbelly. It took weeks, but he finally found out who was driving the car—a local thug, known for his reckless behavior and ties to a shady gang.
Sakura confronted him one night, catching him alone in a dark alley. The man was taller, stronger, but Sakura didn’t care. Rage boiled inside him, a dark, consuming fire that had been building ever since he lost Scarlet.
“You killed her,” Sakura said, his voice low, dangerous. “You took her from me.”
The man sneered, his expression smug. “Yeah? So what? It was just an accident. She was in the way.”
Those words were the last straw. Sakura lunged at him, his fists flying, fueled by all the pain and anger he had been holding in. The man tried to fight back, but Sakuta was relentless, hitting him over and over, until he was a bloody, broken mess on the ground.
Sakura stood over him, panting, his knuckles bruised and bleeding, but he didn’t care. All he could see was Y/n’s face, her red eyes and warm smile, the way she had brightened his world. He thought about how she would never smile like that again, and it made him want to hurt this man even more.
But as he raised his fist to strike again, he stopped. Y/n’s voice echoed in his mind, soft and kind, telling him to let go, to stop before he lost himself completely. Sakura’s hand trembled, and he slowly lowered it, stepping back.
The man on the ground groaned, barely conscious, and Sakura turned away, the rage inside him replaced by a deep, aching sadness. He knew nothing he did would bring Y/n back, that no amount of revenge would make the world bright again.
The police found the man later, and he was arrested, but it didn’t matter to Sakura. Y/n was gone, and the world was once again cold and gray. Yet, as he walked away from the alley, he looked up at the sky, and for a moment, he thought he saw a hint of red—a fleeting, beautiful color that reminded him of her, and he smiled sadly, knowing that she would always be the one bright spot in his dark world
