How the Captains and Lieutenants (+) would react to PDA

I’m obsessed with this anime you don’t even understand. Imma do a spin off of this but with the arrancar and sterneitter and Yhwach… yes I like Yhwach. Suck my dick. All the captains are the ones in the picture aka pre attack TYBW captains. Ikkaku and Kaien are the only changed lieutenants. This took to long to write so I barley proof read it, it just gets a little reparative at times. Read the note at the end plz. Enjoy my loves.

Chōjirō Sasakibe

W/ others: Young Chojiro would find it sweet. He has a very strong heart and will acknowledge the love of the couple but do nothing more. Older Chojiro would probably scoff and tell them to be a little more prideful about when and where they show their affection.

W S/O: I think no matter what age he’s pretty much the same. Wouldn’t do too much or too little. Younger him wouldn’t be as affectionate because he might have other priorities. Older him though, even tho he has more responsibilities, he’s laid back and will rest with you on a bench as you talk about your day. Would probably like feeding the ducks at a local park with you.

Suì-Fēng

W/ other people: *Side eye*. She ignores it for the most part but wishes they would do it in private. As long as it’s not anything tooo intimate then she doesn’t mind really.

W/ S/O: She doesn’t like it. Again, she doesn’t mind anything very subtle. Intentional but discreet brushing of the hands, holding eachother pinkies under the table, or sitting close together, is all alright. Hugging and Kissing on the other hand? No. Maybe if she’s feeling a little soft or has a good day, a kiss on the cheek would be exceptional, maybe a pet name. Other than that, absolutely not. She does have a reputation to uphold after all. (*cough* and she doesn’t want Yoruichi to see *cough*)

Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi

W/ others: He finds it endearing that people can express their love for eachother so openly. He won’t comment on it and keep going on with his day. If it gets a little to handsy between the two he’ll probably strum his guitar a little harder to block it out or just get up and walk away.

W/ S/O: He enjoys it. He likes the feeling of his hands in yours and arms wrapped around each other. He’s a little more open about it in private but that doesn’t mean he’ll completely stop in public. He’s more of a words or affrimation kinda guy, I mean he puts so much emotion into his lyrics, how could he not be? He’ll whisper sweet nothings in your ear, and if he’s in the mood, a couple filthy promises.

Izuru Kira

W/ others: Izuru is a naturally introverted and quiet person. Seeing people so open and confident in their love for eachother makes him a little jealous. He wishes that sometimes he could put himself out there just a little more, but he’s comfortable in his little bubble so the thought alone kinda scares him.

W/ S/O: As I said before, he’s a shy lil boy. Not to much in public or you’ll kill him. In private tho, 🤭. He’s literally all over you, begging and whimpering for just a little bit of attention (he’s def a sub imo). He likes having someone to hold every night he goes to bed and every morning he wakes up. Tbh, I think he goes for the extroverts; he’d appreciate it if you make the moves most of the time. But when he’s in a mood, best believe he’s not letting you go anywhere, for someone so slim he can be exceptionally strong; aka his status as a lieutenant. He loves words of affirmation, giving or receiving.

Retsu Unohana

W/ others: She thinks it’s sweet, at least Retsu does. As long as they aren’t doing too much she just goes on about her day. Yachiru on the other hand would have scoffed a little, shaming them for their openness, thinking that those moments between two lovers should be saved for the more private and intimate moments. (*She a reformed crip*)

W/ S/O: Im a little indifferent on this one. I don’t really have an opinion on her when it comes to this. I think before the main story and tybw she wouldn’t even be interested in anything but battle. Main story Unohana (+) pre-attack tybw, wouldn’t mind hand holding. She’ll call you cute/endearing names like “dear or hun” but other than that, I don’t think she’ll be that mindful or care about it.

Isanae Kotetsu

W/ others/: She’s shy and reserved just like izuru. More prone to blushing at seeing other people cuddle up to each other . If she makes contact with either of the two she’ll put her head down and scurry away. She’s so cuteeeee☺️.

W/ S/O: FLUSTERED AF. Will blush, stutter, and whimper at any sign of affection; especially in public. Y’know when in anime the two love interests are walking home together and one grabs the other's hand and turns away blushing? That’s her. She rarely makes the first move but will silently ask you too.

Shinji Hirako

W/ others: Fuckin Hypocrite. He'll scoff and get in his “I wish that was me so imma be a hater,” moods. Seeing people canoodling with each other in public kinda makes his dick hard ngl. He imagines it’s him with his s/o. niggas a pervert on bro.

W S/O: Touchy grabby touchy grabby. Won’t keep his hands to himself. Loves the fact others can see how shy he makes you. Will whisper the filthiest, diabolical things in your ear. Scratch that, if he feels like it he’ll say it out loud. Depending on who you are though, he won't actually say anything, he’s truly a respectful person; just likes to tease. Besides anything sexual, he loves holding your hands and looking deep into your eyes. It’s not hard to make him blush either but he’ll do so with a big smile and soft gaze. He just wants everyone to know how in love he is.

Byakuya Kuchini

W/ others: He doesn’t really care. Little displays of affection are okay in front of him but for the most part, because of who he is, people tend to not take it too far when he’s around.

W S/O: Like Soi Fong, he has a reputation to maintain. He’s a very private and uptight person. Most would say he has a stick up his ass (*kenny*). Another person who prefers to show affection in private. He’ll let you lay your head on his shoulder or vice versa; hands intertwined while you observe the koi fish in his private pond. In meetings with the other nobles, he’ll grab and squeeze your hand from under the table to reassure you. Who knew he could be a lil softie.

Renji Abarai

W/ others: Doesn’t matter to him. Don’t try and bang in front of him and you're cool. Renjis a very laid back guy even if he can be a hot head. He prefers if people would do it in private but if it starts to get to much for him he’ll just get up and walk away.

W/ S/O: I can only imagine him w/ Rukia I’m so sorry. Butttt, if I had to give a take on it I’d say he can get really flustered.

Sajin Komomaru

W/ others: Slightest bit jealous. Because of what he looks like, afraid that nobody would wanna do those things with him. He doesn’t have an opinion on PDA, as long as they’re respectful of the others around.

W S/O: It’s a pretty known fact that Sajin is insecure about himself. However, after he takes his face covering off he does become a little more confident. He’s another private one. Loves cuddling next to the fireplace. In his human form tho, he feels like he has an opportunity to finally show how much he loves you in public without fear of getting judged. He’ll hold you hand and call you a little pet name but for the most part he’s “meh” about it. Afraid to get fur in your mouth.

Shunsui Kyōraku

W/ others: Also another pervert. Have you read his books? Is the cheesy romantic type who says shit like “they just love eachother so much”. That one guy in meet cute romance novels who sits in the back of the cafe or park benches and writes a story based on couples he sees walking by. On some “her big blue eyes started into his narrow darker ones 🥺,” type shit.

Would probably write smut about it ng hold you. Lisa peer edits 4sure.

W/ S/O: Shameless bastard. Like shinji, he does not care who he’s around. Gets a pass because the head captian thinks of him as a son. Will do it infront it him even, making you give him a slap to the head. He’ll just wink at you and give you the biggest, wettest kiss on your cheek ever (*que Yamamoto leaving the room mumbling about how the younger generation has no shame*). Physical touch and words of affirmation are his strong suit. Will tell you your beautiful no matter when or where. Loves taking naps with you under the many beautiful trees located in *byakuyas’ home* the seireitei.

Nanao Ise

W/ others: Unprofessional. She thinks things like that should be indoor activities in their own space. Would probably speak up about it if it was getting too much. Wouldn’t be bitchy about it but would definitely have a very stern tone.

W/ S/O: Again, save it for inside. Would be flustered at any type of affection but more so in public. Would have the brightest cheeks and tell you off for doing things like that in public. She kinda gives me veryyy subtle tsundere vibes, like you gotta squint to see it. In private however, she’ll come up to you with redden cheeks and an embarrassed/ little irritated expression and hold her arms out for a hug.

Kensei Mugurama

W/ others: Get it outta his face. Doesn’t like it with other people, but he won’t have any strong reaction to it. Probably just gives a roll of his eyes and a head shake. Just seeing other people be lovey dovey makes him cringe.

W S/O: Just like his flat skulled friend, very much a hypocrite. Will have a firm grip on your hand every time you two go out, arm around your waist, hand on your lower back. Even though he has this tough persona attached to him, he doesn’t mind showing just how much he cares about you. Will let you sit in his lap with his arms around you or hands on your hips with his face buried in your neck. He does this the most in public, especially if he doesn’t feel like socializing. Would be a little cheeky and start peppering kisses along your neck.

Shūhei Hisagi

W others: Tbh I’m a bit indifferent to him too. He’ll either glance at them and walk the other way. Or, B, become flustered and dip. He just doesn’t know how to react. Kinda just stares for a couple seconds, blushes, huffs, and walks away.

W S/O: Just like his best friend (insert Izuru), he’s a bit bashful about it, but just like his captain he can be a little slick. After a couple of drinks the boldness comes out. He loves wrapping his arm around your shoulder and pulling you towards him with a kiss on your cheek. Will also pull you into his lap and would most likely fall asleep. When he’s a bit more in control of his actions, he’ll grab your hand as you stroll through the town. Still a fan of kissing you on the cheek and will throw in a babe here or there, the works.

Tōshirō Hitsugaya

W/ others: Another one who finds it inappropriate in public. He’s but a child, spare him please,

W S/O: Lil boy.

Rangiku Matsumoto

W/ others- Yet another one who finds it cute. Would comment on how adorable the couple is, will even say it to their face. She can tune it out if she wants too but finds it funny to tease them. Especially if it’s one of her friends (Izuru abuse).

W S/O- Loves, loves, LOVES PDA. Cute nicknames, hugs and kisses, holding hands, going on dates. Loves to feel wanted and appreciated. Probably loves PDA the most out of everyone on this list.*Gin can’t do anything about it cause he dead*

Kenpachi Zaraki

W others: Finds it disgusting but doesn’t care. Slighttttttttly a perverted about it. As long as you're not jumping each other's bones, you’re safe.

W/ S/O: Kinda like Kensei. Very protective of you and a little saucy. Does not care who's watching because he knows they won’t do anything about it. Won’t say it but he loves when you’re perched on his shoulders (your weight/height does not matter this niggas almost seven feet and beefy). Loves for you to sit in his lap too, another one who likes napping with you outside. Lowkey likes it when you, yachiru, and himself go out and do whatever, kinda like his own little family. Ikkaku Madarame

W/ others: Would straight up tell them to knock it off if it’s getting too much. He finds all that cheesy, coupley, romance stuff disgusting. (Would headbutt someone).

W/ S/O: Doesn’t give a damn just like his captain. Very brash and straight forward. Will come up and kiss you in the middle of training if he thinks he did something particularly good in which he deserves a reward. Would sling an arm around your shoulder and kiss the top of your head while sitting in a bar drinking and laughing. Plot twist! If YOU were the one showing PDA he’ll become bashful and scold you about doing things like that in public. Calls you babe 24/7 and does not care who's around when he makes naughty jokes.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi

W/ others: Will stare at them until they stop or throw up in each other's mouths. Finds it absolutely repulsive. Why are you doing that in public, let alone in front of him? Will comment on it, telling them that wherever they are is no place for such nonsense. Will walk away and mutter how nasty it is under his breath.

Loves sitting out in the open with you, on a cute little picnic date. Pet names thrown around the room, hugges and kisses are open anytime. Would blush and rub the back of his head with a soft laugh and even softer smile if you ever catch him off guard in public. Would say he loves you no matter who’s around.

Kaien Shiba

W/ others: Won’t pay attention to it. They love each other, so what?

W/ S/O- Pre betrayal Aizen would encourage it. He wants to show everyone how sweet and gentle of a boyfriend he can be. Will grab your hands, waist, hips, or arms at random times to catch you off guard. Post betrayal Aizen could not give 2 fucks.. Would come up behind you snaking his hand around your neck and kiss behind your ear, while you’re mid convo with someone might I add. Will have you sit on his throne with him, might force you too if you’ve been acting up, especially if he knows you hate attention (sinister af).

Gin Ichimaru

W/ others: Would observe them from afar. If they're getting annoying with it he’ll come up to them and purposely make them uncomfortable. Deep down though, he’ll find it cute and long for someone to connect to like that

W/ S/O: Similar to Aizen in the way he just does not care. Even after the betrayal of the Gotei 13, he stays the same. Would grab your hips and kiss along the column of your neck staring straight into the eyes of the person you're talking to. Would whisper teasing words to you no matter where you are. But as I said earlier, the real Gin would just want you to feel like you are always an attachment of him. He really does love you

Kaname Tōsen

W others: Can’t see them.

NAH IM JUST PLAYIN 😭. He thinks it’s a bit unsavory to be doin things in public. He does think, however, that if they’re that secure in the relationship and in their love they have the right to express it.

W/ S/O: Pre betrayal Kaname would hold your hands most of the time. Would possibly give you a quick peck on the cheek or forehead when he knows nobody is paying attention. Most of that stuff is in the privacy of your home. Defo gets more confident and will subtly grope you while whispering sweet nothings. Post betrayal Kaname may or may not be as strict about it. It’s 50/50 he wants you to know he loves you but he also wants to be professional. Maybe if you catch him in a less populated area. Who knows 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Kisuke Urahara

W/ others: Would watch them from behind his fan and bucket hat. Doesn’t mind it at all, he’ll just laugh about it and say that they’re just doing what most couples do.

W/ S/O: Run. Will not leave you aloneeeeeee. Will grab at any part of you. Will grab or slap your ass in public too he dgaf: But when you whip around he’s already out of sight. Now you and the other people around you are left speechless as you stomp around to find him. He loves pet names and will let them spew out whenever. You have been Sajin's significant other for atleast a couple years, and you have actually met him after he became a captain of Squad 7 of the Gotei 13, which was amuch longer time ago, which makes you the third seat of squad 7, however after everyone, especially those in the soul society (yes, even you) got to see what was under his mask, it really made you adore him. Considering you and Sajin have been together for a long time, you decided to come up with ways to surprise him on a date. You definitely have something or somethings up your sleeve to surprise him with.

"Question (Gender Neutral Reader Name)... Why did you blindfold me?", Sajin said, as he was confused about being blindfolded, while you were holding his hand to take him somewheres. You happily replied, "It's all part of your surprise, Sajin...". Once you and Sajin got inside the restaurant you took him to, you took the blindfold off him, as you cheeringly said, "Surprise Sajin... I hope you you like it there...". Sajin was extremely amazed about how beautiful the restaurant looks. Infact the whole time you and Sajin were eating at the restaurant, the service was fantastic, the seats were very comfy, and the food was even fantastic. Sajin was going to pay for the meal, before you stopped him and said, "Not to worry Sajin... I already tooken cared of the meal before we started eating...", then winked at him.

Before the both of you left the restaurant, you decided to propose to Sajin, as you said,"Sajin Komamura... Would you marry me and be my husband?", surprising him with an engagement ring you got for him. Sajin then smiled, as he replied, "This caught me by surprise... You're so cute, especially when you surprise me, because you're full of surprises... Ofcourse I will marry you and be your husband...". After the both you and Sajin left the restaurant, you also surprised and took him to the hotel. The hotel definitely had an amazing service, rooms that really look very fantastic, soft beds, and much more good things about this hotel that deserves five star reviews.

The both of you changed into your night kimonos, then snuggled in the bed together, as Sajin said, "(Gender Neutral Reader Name)... Today is definitely the best day of my life, thanks to you... It was definitely unexpected you did all this for me, while everyone at the restaurant were nice, food was great, seats were nice, the people at the hotel were kind, the rooms look fantastic, the beds were much better than I could ever dream of, and everything else that happened in general went great... Jushiro Ukitake: The calmest, warmest hug to ever exist. He wraps you up in his arms, cradling the back of your head and just comforts you in a way that is out of this world. A hand rubbing up and down the long of your back, his head near your ear, soft, warm breaths hitting your earlobe.

Shunsui Kyoraku: He hugs you in a loving way, but he's a little cheeky and mischievous with it. Strong, muscular arms wrapping around your body and pulling you into his chest. Placing a soft kiss on your forehead as his hand runs down the curve of your back to your ass, squeezing the flesh.

Byakuya Kuchiki: His hugs are like a crispy, chill afternoon. He won't show affection or hug you in the public, but if it’s just the two of you, it's a different story. Arms gently wrapped around your waist, squeezing you every once in a while. His chin resting on top of your head, holding you in such a caring way. It's relaxing and refreshing to have Byakuya holding you.

Kenpachi Zaraki: At first, his hugs at first are like a porcupines needles, but then they are smooth like the back of a whale, so strong and powerful, but yet, calming and not overwhelming. He knows his strength, so he knows how tight to hold you. It's comforting how tight he can hold you and he runs his hand over your head, gripping the back of your neck. He complains when you ask for a hug, but it makes him the happiest man in the world.

Shinji Hirako: He's super greedy with it comes to hugging. He'll squeeze you until you can't breath and are squirming against his body, trying to get out of his tight grip. Seriously though, when he hugs, he can't get enough of you. He'll breathe in your scent and have his arms wrapped around you so damn tight. Shinji will squeeze your flesh and even tickle you and hold you so you can't escape from his tickles.

Toshiro Hitsugaya: His hugs are a little complicated. At first, he'll be cold and shoot you a sharp glare when you ask for a hug. Although, Toshiro cannot resist a hug from you and he caves in. He wraps his arms around your waist and holds you, muttering underneath his breath about how he doesn't like this. You laugh because you know that he does like hugging you, but he doesn't like how vulnerable it makes him. He'll place a kiss on your forehead before fully pulling away from the hug.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi: He won't deny you a hug, but he might tease you about it for a little. He laughs like a manic and grabs onto your shoulders, pulling you onto his lap. He's probably stuck in his lab when you ask him for a hug and he refuses to leave his hard work, so he just places you on his lap and multitasks. He'll stroke your hair or rub your back, typing on his keyboard and clicking on the mouse. He enjoys these quiet moments with you.

Kensei Muguruma: His hugs are firm and his big beefy biceps squeeze you 😩 (what i wouldn't do to have my head being squeezed in his bicep...ahem) The smile that grows across his face is huge as he pulls you into his big chest for a hug. He loves hugging you and especially if you're sad or something, he loves cheering you up. You feel so happy and calm in his arms. His hugs are kind and will last forever; Kensei never wants to let go, but knows he has to go back to work.

Soi-Fon: A quick, but consoling hug. I imagine that Soi-Fon doesn't really like hugs, but for you, she'll put up with it, but only for a few seconds. She won't admit it, but for the first few seconds, she indulges in the hug and cherishes it. She'll start patting your back before pulling away, face twisted with uncertainty.

Sajin Komamura: A big, fluffy hug :) You know the kind of hug that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He'll hold you as long as you need, but in reality, Sajin needs this hug more than anything. He loves to cradle you in his arms and breathe in your scent, relaxing his whole body.

Need food? That's find he was in a fighting mood anyway, he can hunt for you if you want or better yet just drink from him

It's the same for if you're ever worried about losing control or just need to explain some energy Kenpachi is more than happy to fight you and keep a close eye on you

He defends you from the others who think you’re untrustworthy or dangerous, really you're no worse than him

To everyone's amusement you both have this line of thought that you've tamed a beast in one way or another

Really Kenpachi is just so proud to say your his lover and for so many reasons that no one can really argue with him on it

Will want to fight you sometimes ya know to test "your strength and make sure your not holding back too much"

He needs real sleep. You try to gently rouse him, stroking his hair and face gently and calling his name.

“Mmm… whaaaa?” He eventually opens his eyes, blinking rapidly. They’re bloodshot from eye strain. You take his hand and give a little tug.

“Come on, honey. You need to get some sleep in a real bed. It’ll be more comfortable.” You make to pull him up again, but tugs right back, and you fall back onto the couch with a yelp.

Before you can protest, he readjusts the both of you, encompassing you in his arms and pressing a few kisses on your face. It’s surprisingly comfortable. He sighs, nuzzling his face against yours.

the coldfront was coming sooner than you expected. you should’ve cut your losses and stayed in the last town but it was far too late to try to return. all you had was the exceedingly heavy pack on your back, full of everything you owned and a skein of water on your side, enough to last you a day or two at most.

you've been traveling for longer than you would like to admit. scared to slow or settle down for too long, your family hadn’t been pleased by how you left (like a thief in the night). you breathe meager heat into your hands and sigh, wincing as your ribs throb in response (you'd slept on too many threadbare pallets). to travel safely, your plan was to appear as a man, under your too big clothing and sunhat was your amulet, magically imbued and subduing your own spiritual pressure to uphold the magical deceit.

the snow was up to your knees by the time the outline of a shabby house appeared on the twilight horizon, nearly sagging with relief you hastened your speed, and soon enough you were upon the truthfully pitiful stone abode.

though, any shelter was better than braving the steadily brewing storm. after checking out the meager rooms and what seemed to be a small supply closet, you finally took stock. a fireplace, with an old pot, some old rice that seemed edible in the dark light of the rising moon, as well as a decent bedroll, although moths had gotten to it and it smelled dank and musty.

it was… tidy but clearly abandoned. surely, whoever lived here before wouldn’t mind a little company. you survey the home, the supply closet you came from was behind you, you can see the door, as well as what seems to be a kitchen area (the fireplace was there, after all) connected to what looked to be a sitting room. it really was a miracle that vermin didn't get to the rice before you did, but you were never one to question a blessing.

with a resolved sigh, you set your things down near the fireplace but still in the open area of what you designated the sitting room and decided to try and find some wood in the back of the storage closet, as well as snow for the pot to heat up so you can take a bath, maybe even cook some of the precious rice.

a bit later, the room was significantly warmer with a fire and you had finished taking a dreadfully cold bath with a bucket left in the semi kitchen. you were considering taking off your ratty clothing and washing them when the door to the shabby home started to rattle, very different from the wind that had been beating the walls down earlier. no, someone was on the other side.

scrambling, you grab your shirt and pull it over your head, along with putting your thinner pants back on. while you were on your hands and knees- the unyielding stone floor biting into your flesh- the door swung open, smacking against the inside of the house with a deafening clap. the breath caught in your throat, your hand so close, but too far from the sword you used to defend yourself. however... from the looks of it, whoever this person was wouldn't be impacted by your weapon.

he was huge, bigger than any man should be, and he also wore a heavy coat. he ducked low to enter, his orange eyes burning into you- the rest of his face covered by a wooden helmet. your eyes stared back.

he moved, you did not, too scared to avert your eyes you watched him as he calmly and slowly closed the door firmly behind himself and again you two stared at each other.

he speaks first, voice deep, you know that if you were closer it would shake you.

“forgive my intrusion, sir. but i would’ve caught my death out there.”

you nearly melt in relief, he thought you were a man. good. clearing your throat you sit up, crossing your legs casually, “it’s nothing. can’t have you dyin’ on my front step.” your voice is hoarse, unused since you left the village- it wasn’t like you got frequent conversation.

covered in rapidly melting snow, the man started to disrobe and you came to your senses, “oh, my goodness. sorry, you can hang your clothes up by the fire.”

he nodded, his back to you as he stripped wet layer after wet layer. and you averted your eyes, busying yourself with the rice. fortunately, you had food from the previous town you visited.

“where did you come from, stranger?” you asked, trying to get a feel for who he was, or what kind of person would travel during a blizzard. aside from you, the runaway.

“.. i came from far south for a job.” he grunts, you could tell he was tolerating you, unless he just sounded like that all the time. considering the weather, you would find out soon enough. now shirtless and in his breeches, you could see the glory of his scarred, muscular yet padded body- it was clear he was strong, those muscles were well supported by his fat.

he could eat you alive, it looked like. his face (what could be visible through the wooden helmet, anyway), was stern; or at least his eyebrows were, eyes intense as you had seen earlier and his long lustrous hair was paler than the beams of moonlight, like the darkness herself had hand spun every near luminous strand. the hair was gathered in a low bun, to keep it out of his way. you half watched him as he hung up his humongous clothing on the lines of string you set up earlier for your own clothing.

the silence was heavy, but he speaks again, catching eyes with you. he’d caught you ogling his body and seemed amused, if you were reading the look in his eyes correctly- but more often than not you were terrible at telling what people where thinking even when they said it outright.

“sorry- it’s just, you have so many scars.” you almost reluctantly drag your gaze back to the pot, the rice is almost ready. while you were looking around for bowls you froze, your eyes on the larger than life sword laid against the wall in front of you.

his mammoth size already dwarfed you, but between him, the blazing heat of the fireplace, and this truly terrifying weapon, you freeze. trying to think, trying to process.

“worry not. that sword hasn’t been unsealed in many years, now.” he reassures you, still slowly, languidly, hanging up his clothing, you glance over at him and his eyes were earnestly on his work.

“right… sorry for staring. the rice will be done soon, if you’d like some.” on a second look at the sword, sure enough it was tied intricately so it couldn't be opened. what kind of man would willingly do something so foolish? it wasn’t like he needed a sword to kill or do genuine harm, you've seen his muscles. you have two wooden bowls, and a variety of eating utensils, so you give him the bigger one.

he sits close to you, mostly because he had no other option, given the exceedingly small dwelling. even sat, he towered over you as you spooned him in a bowl of rice, the bowl that was too large to you was practically normal in his massive hands. he nods his head slightly in thanks,

“thank you for this meal, you didn’t have to share.”

you laugh, a little surprised, “i can’t imagine not sharing, you should eat until you’re full.” he was… amicable, all things considered.

dinner is quiet, you had your back turned to him, facing the fire to give him the leeway to eat with his helmet off. after dinner, you had two bowls, he had four (though he could probably eat more), you were starting to feel tired.

getting up you held up the bedroll. it was too big for you but not big enough for him. “well, if we lay it out the long way you should be able to fit most of your body onto this, huh?”

he huffed out what seemed to be a laugh. “i carry my own bedroll, thank you.”

you glanced over at his things, seems being gigantic had its perks because he could carry way more than you did.

“plus, that thing is musty, and there's no room for us both to have a bedroll, so you can just sleep on mine. call it paying it forward on your kindness toward me.”

Shunsui Kyoraku - The only thing you’ll get mentored on is how to hold your liquor! Seriously, he’s pretty good at giving advice since he’s had a lot of experiences in his long life and he’s smart. If you have some crazily high power then he may take the time to train with you. Chances are more likely that he’ll observe you closely and determine the best person to train you. 

Sui Feng - Great leader, great mentor. If she sees potential in you then she will keep you by her side so you can learn all she has to teach. She’ll treat you much like Yoruichi treated her when she was a young officer. 

Rojuro Otoribashi (Rose) - All in all, he’s a great captain and very approachable. He already keeps an eye on all his officers and makes sure that they keep an eye on all the unseated squad members. He reinforces a mentoring style that is a “trickle down” method. However, if he finds you have power and promise then he will single you out for extra time with him so he can help shape you and get your feet on the path you want to be on.

Retsu Unohana - She is a situational mentor. For example, if she sees you doing something that she thinks you can do better or more efficiently, she’s going to take the time to instruct you. I don’t see her as someone that would take on one specific person to mentor. But, I do think if she sees someone that is exceptional she will give them over to Isane to mentor.

Shinji Hirako - He tends to keep an eye on all his officers. Keep in mind, he’s paranoid thanks to his experience with Aizen. Any power and ambition you show is going to come under intense scrutiny by him. He’s going to keep you a short leash – show one twitch toward nefarious intentions and he will put you down before you can become another Aizen. He’s not risking another one getting by him. Momo would be a much better mentor.

Byakuya - He sees himself as a mentor to all of his squad. He leads by example, always. It comes from his training as a noble and how to be an example to all at all times through his behavior. This can make him somewhat unapproachable. But, if you have the bravery to approach him and ask him to mentor you, he will take a closer look at you. If he sees potential he will hand you over to Renji and keep an eye on your progress. When he feels the time is right, he will step in and give you the polishing touches that only he can give. 

Sajin Komamura - Great choice for a mentor. He is someone that will take you on no matter your power or skill level. He’s great at inspiring anyone to the best they can be. It’s just the way he is and it’s reflected in the respect his squad and other officers from other squads have for him. 

Lisa Yadomaru - Really good at being a mentor. She prefers to take on one person at a time with doing this. It allows her to focus her attention where it needs to be. She relies quite heavily on her seated officers to encourage and train the unseated squad members. 

Kensei Mugurma - He’s another one that leads by example. He tends to come off gruff. If he sees potential in you he’ll try to encourage you, but it may often come off as abrasive. If you can see past all that to the core of what he’s trying to teach you then you’ll find that he is a great teacher. He would rather lead his squad to greatness by example than mentor them one by one.

Toshiro Hitsugaya - He isn’t going to single anyone out for mentoring. If you approach him, he will take you on. Be prepared for brutal honesty from him. He’s not going to hold anything back and he’s not going to sugar coat it either. If Rangiku has annoyed him be prepared for surliness.

Kenpachi Zaraki - Not really interested in mentoring anyone. Although, if you keep wanting to fight him to get better then he is going to be pleased, especially if you can hold your own with him for more than a few minutes. 

Mayuri Kurostuchi - Not interested in mentoring at all. His time is everything to him and you will be nothing but a distraction. He will scold you for even asking. Akon, however, is a great mentor and much more fun to be around than Mauyri.

Jushiro Ukitake - Great mentor! But, may not always be well enough to train you or even talk to you. This is where Rukia will step to help if she is available. If she isn’t then you are going to be at the mercy of Kiyone and Sentaro – good luck trying to glean anything useful out of their teaching methods!

after your close encounter with what could have very well been your death, your journey with the ronin is at a momentary pause. in the town you must resupply, as well as get new clothing for the warmer weather approaching.

a hard shiver runs down your spine at the thought of leaving the tree, and almost immediately jin's voice telling you to stay still and quiet echo in your head. but... you weigh your options. where was he?

you were beyond terrified, had even been warned, and yet… you were worried for him. maybe he could fit inside your hollow (of course he couldn’t, there was barely enough space for you). but the sound of that singular howl chilled you deeply.

taking a quick peek, your eyes scan the bright white snow, it was dark enough to be an issue, but bright enough for you to see jin was nowhere beneath you. body frozen still, you hesitate, moving from this tree could very well cause you the end of your life.

against your better judgement… you can barely stop yourself from scampering down the trunk. internally praying to whoever would listen that whatever danger was in the forest wouldn’t choose you next.

your feet crunch too loudly in the snow, and you take a quick look around, your breath coming in small, quick bursts, puffs of cold air forming small clouds.

the coast was clear, and honestly you felt a little silly, there was nothing! you give a small huff of laughter. your eyes go to the ground, seeing jin’s footsteps and following them. along the way you decide to use the bathroom, since all of your residual fear made it prevalent earlier.

refreshed and on your mission to find your traveling partner, you strain your ears, listening to the woodland noises (or the lack thereof). your best plan to get away from danger? climb the closest tree, use your sword for protection. and… wait for jin to find you, if it came to that. keeping your actual tree and campsite in your view, as dim as it was.

traveling along, you go in a deliberate circle, looking for any sign of him. until you step wrong, tripping over some uneven terrain- you curse, shooting upright, hand on your sword as you look around. truthfully, you weren’t the best at fighting with it.

your clan centered working with magical items- their manufacture, improvement etc. it was how you made your necklace, and it was a bit of a shame you would need to see a different specialist in karakura town to get help on honing its ability. however, a different branch of your family put an emphasis on fighting.

tracking your eyes back down to the ankle you rolled, you realize there's a giant paw print. wolf? no... bear, at least it was big enough.

instantly, you're on edge again, looking around quickly before booking it as much as you could in the deep snow without drawing any attention to yourself. the tree was so close, but you felt the sense of some sinister foreboding presence. like you were being hunted. not bothering to look back, and spurned on by fear, you push yourself faster, launching at the tree and scrambling upward as fast as you could.

right underneath you, a heavy thud, followed by a guttural growl. whatever it was wanted you. badly. you bite down on the inside of your cheek, drawing blood as you scrape yourself higher, praying whatever was down there wasn't a good climber or jumper.

you pray too soon, the jaws of the wretched beast get so close to your leg you can nearly feel the loud snap of it's teeth in your bones. with little ceremony you drag yourself into the hollow, forcing yourself into the back corner and pointing the tip of your blade at the opening. you would be ready for it. whatever it was.

your ankle healed up enough in jin's opinion finally meant you could restock supplies and get some warm weather clothing. since jin was your official unofficial escort, you both met up again at the tavern- he had been standing there waiting for you. sitting across from him at a wooden table, you nurse your stew, savoring the warmth, even though the flavor was a bit bland.

he had arranged to get his food sent up to your accomodations, obviously because he wished to keep his helmet on.

"so..." you probe, looking up at him through your lashes. "any news on the missing girl?" absolutely you had to ask, hopefully it lead him in the opposite direction so you could go to karakura on your own.

"yes actually, someone fitting the description had been seen heading in our direction." he seemed pleased, happy to restore a family of their lost member. if only he knew. the thought made your stomach churn. hopefully he never found out. you couldn't go back, not now. possibly not ever.

"that's great, i'm glad." though it was nice to not have to cook tonight or for breakfast since the tavern did both, you were quite honestly pretty satisfied despite your near death encounter.

"also, the keeper of the tavern informed me we secured the last available room, for a reasonable price as well."

cringing, almost on reflex, you reach for your coin purse to pay him the difference and he immediately denied you, ignoring your gesture. "don't be like that, sparrow. i almost left you to that.... beast. the least i can do is pay."

you're unmoved. "you carried me all the way to town." you whisper yell, not wanting the nearby tables to hear you. "i can't let you pay for the room!"

he shrugs, "you can pay for the next one." jin shut the conversation down with seven words, his thick arms folded across his broad chest. to shut up your stumbling, shoving some more stew into your mouth.

together you both head upstairs- jin to the room, and you decide a bath was in order, so you leave him to his devices- so he could eat. after your surprisingly lush bath, you knock on the door to the room.

there's shuffling before he opens the door, having to bend down a bit to see you clearly. he was too big, as usual. you duck past him, hearing the door close and you set your bag down before your eyes are drawn to the centerpiece of the room- the enormous bed.
