Figured out why I hit a wall on one of my more ambitious fanfic ideas: while I knew what's going on now I forgot to account that the characters have 10+ years of knowing each other in this AU before the plot begins.
So I'm now poking at my AU to explore some background ideas and details. If you guys wanna ask me anything about it (couple details, funny incident you think any of these characters may've had, what the rules of the parties are, etc), my ask box is open.
Harbor Having Fun:
The annual Christmas Party is a tradition. Everyone is invited, but since college it's been harder to get everyone together and this year is no different. Secrets can't stay hidden forever and sometimes you have to face your fears. But the holidays are also a great time to connect with old friends, meet new people, and hide from your overbearing parents and other extended family. Also known as: People give Gaara and Ino way less credit for maturity than they deserve. They also give Shikamaru and Temari way more credit than deserved. The following individuals are hiding secrets: Neji, Shino, Karin, Hana, and Tenten. Fake dating isn't that fake when everyone but you insists that you're dating a friend. But it is when you bribe another friend. And remember, friends don't let friends host single.
The couples in chapter one are: NaruHina, ChoKarui, ShikaTema, ShinoKarin, KankTen, SaiSamui, NejiHana, and (allegedly) KibaShiho.
I'm also working on working on the rules, and backstory for the rules, of the Christmas party. Along with determining which rules will be added from this year's chaos.
POV Characters: Konoha 12, Karin, Suigetsu, Samui, Matsuri, Sand Siblings, Hanabi, Itachi, and Shisui
There also a bunch of non-pov characters, rule of thumb is that if a pov knows them in canon they know them in this modern-au.

(Repost) Naruto/Boruto Headcanon: Chocolate Flavored Potato Chips, The Marriage of Karui & Chouji pt. 6- THE DANCE (FINAL CHAPTER)
Above are the DJ's playlists for the night, feel free to listen to them when you read!
Now the decorations changed, the mood is now of a high-end nightclub. People are dancing and having a good time. Those who don’t want to show their moves to the world can still sit at the bar, it’s no different than a regular night out on a hot Saturday night. In this case, being in Kumo, the music is different, and it seems like EVERYBODY from the Country of Lightning in the room knows the playlist (hence why so many members of Kumo Ninja School & security guarding team were invited to fill in and make sure Karui has the time of her life). Chouji is okay as long as she is happy.
It's a time and place for many dance battles to occur without mercy. NARUTO KNOWS ALL THE DANCES AND ALL MOVES (people cheer him on) and Lee follows with a high level of enthusiasm. Sasuke scoffed “Look at this fool.” Contrary to Shisui who was rolling in laughter while capturing the scene with his phone.
Konohamaru and Hanabi were having a good time. Hanabi is still trying to pair Konohamaru with anyone available.
At first Sasuke & Neji tried to evacuate the area ASAP but the idea of leaving Hinata & Sakura without surveillance caused them to QUICKLY come back. You can find them at the bar. Sasuke will never admit it but was satisfied seeing Sakura enjoying herself (you do the hip rolls and I’ll watch). He harshly brushed off Itachi who kept encouraging him to join her. “WHY DON’T YOU GO AND JOIN SHISUI ON THE DANCEFLOOR?!’’ Sasuke growled back while both were looking at Shisui dancing with all his might. It’s a waste of time honestly, Danzo would come back to life and passionately dance the Macarena before he sees his Aniki dance.
A lightbulb turned on in his head as Sasuke called Suigetsu over to a different table. While no one was watching, he shared his plan of setting Itachi up to force him to dance in public. He widely grinned as he shared his idea. Both rejoiced on one accord. “Let’s do this!!!’’ smile viciously Suigetsu
Suigetsu went to ask Killer Bee and the DJ for a special song to invite (you mean force) Itachi to the dancefloor. Sasuke watched from his seat and grinned as the request was accepted. Suigetsu came back and told him they would play a second round of Cha Cha Slide to go forth with the request. Killer Bee lowered the music to speak on the microphone
“Okay, okay, Fool ya fool! It’s time to dance but let’s bring someone really important to the dancefloor to show his moves to the world’’ Sasuke couldn’t contain his excitement. Finally, revenge (from what happened earlier with the flower bouquet situation). He could feel it, the joy eating him took over his senses, and he was shaking on the inside. So much, he started to have a headache. Regardless Killer Bee almost yelled in the microphone being consumed with thrill along with the crowd yelling unable to stay in place.
“WE ARE BLOWN AWAY!!! SASUKE CAME TO THE DANCEFLOOR, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, WE CAN'T BELIEVE IT! THE YOUNG UCHIHA GOT SOME MOVES AND DIDN’T HOLD BACK, KILLING THE CHA CHA SLIDE GAME!!!!!
“What?’’ Sasuke thought out loud drenched in confusion. He blinked twice, only to be standing in the middle of the dancefloor getting mobbed by a crowd.
“AHHHHH SASUKE! I DIDN’T KNOW YOU COULD DANCE LIKE THAT?!! Yelled Naruto holding him from getting crushed by the tsunami of overhyped individuals around him. Kakashi was (surprisingly) close so he could capture him correctly with his phone. Next to him, Sakura couldn’t wipe off her shocked expression “Sasuke…” she was able to murmur. SHE WAS SO PROUD, and it showed. With the help of his teammates, he was safety guided to the closest table since Sasuke couldn’t stand on his feet. Suigetsu just stared at him “Sooooo, your plan worked I guess’’ he smiled holding back probably the loudest laugh on earth.
Wiping the sweat from Sasuke’s forehead, Karin was angry. “What was that Sasuke? That’s not your style to just dance like that. Are you drunk?’’
“What do you mean, IT WAS AMAZING!!!!’’ argued Naruto ready to fist fight. If Obito, Madara & Shisui were not too busy chocking in unstoppable laughter they would agree with the blonde. Through the chaos going around him, Sasuke looked around to find Itachi sitting at their respective table. “Foolish little brother’’ thought the long-haired raven. When Sasuke really thought about it, it must have been the sip of the drink he had before calling Suigetsu over for their mischievous plan. Whatever that was, he vowed to never touch alcohol ever again.
Sai almost got in trouble for staring at people too long. Thanks to Naruto and even Kiba who were close to clear up the situation.
Omoi got a hold of the stage’s microphone and officially challenged Shikamaru to a dance battle and lost.
My Girl Mabui has some moves but let’s not underestimate Samui as well (Karui is living)
· Kakashi is there for the high-quality liquor thinking about his life problems. Darui as well since he’s mentally preparing for the fact that he will be part of the cleanup team when all this is over eventually, he will accept Omoi & C requests to join them and the other bridesmaids/groomsmen on the dancefloor. “Come on, we’re supposed to know all the dances!” Said Omoi dragging Darui behind him (play Gold Digger)
Guy almost passed out after a few in a drinking competition with Mr. Hatake.
Iruka has a lot of women around him. Trying to talk and getting to know him is making him nervous (but they think it's just making him even more cute)
Karin agreed to eat some cake with Suigetsu. She even accepted to dance with him (even if they both can’t dance)
Madara & The Bridemaids/Waitresses taking pictures
Naruto pulled moves and went in on every song but (plot twist) got outdanced by SHINO (OUT OF ALL PEOPLE), Kiba is dying in the background, that’s some good wedding memories right there.

the trip has left the group chat
It’s been exactly a week since we set out from Seattle to start travelling south east Asia. A place I’ve thought about travelling for quite some time but never had the time or the right people to do it with. So when our work decided to shut down our restaurant and give us 2 months off (with paid rent) we jumped at the opportunity.
We started the trip in Bangkok and ate pad thai at almost every chance it was appropriate. Bangkok is a lot, it’s busy, it’s crowded, there are vendors everywhere selling everything from durian to laughing gas. The streets are filled with a multitude of aromas that range from delicious street food to the smell of toronto on a hot sunny day x 1 000 000. Nick and I spent two days on our own before we were joined by Kevin Paige and gabi.
Nick and I did some good exploring, we saw the China town night market, Khao san road, took tuktuks, watched sunsets, drank great coffee and relaxed by the hotel pool. I forgot how one day of travelling feels like 3 regular days. So many things to see and do. It can be overwhelming trying to squeeze it all in but luckily nick and I both are similar with the amount we can handle in one day.
One of the highlights of Bangkok was our reservation at BKK Social club. It’s ranked the 13th best cocktail bar in the world. To say we were impressed would be an understatement. The ambience, the decor, the glassware, the napkins, the servers outfits everything was spot on. It’s located in the four seasons hotel and if you (like us) have never been to a four seasons let me tell you it is flawless. It screams elegance. Fresh flowers in every corner, stunning artwork, gorgeous architecture, infinity pools everywhere you look. In the restaurant we were seated in a cozy little booth with an optimal view of their gorgeous bar. We were greeted with a welcome drink and some crunchy bar snacks. The menu was gorgeous, pages of curated cocktails all inspired by Argentinian culture were laid out with little drawings and descriptions. The second we closed our menus the server was there to take our order. We both started with cocktails, I had The “criollo”
Criollo are the first generation Latin Americans born from two Spanish parents creating a unique fusion of culture and gastronomy.Our take on a fruity Spanish Sangria, with a zesty and aromatic twist.
Ingredients: Argentinian Torrontes - Hendrick's Gin - Apricot - Peach- Citrus — Apple - Strawberry - Soda
This was phenomenal, everything I like in a bev; gin, fruit, carbonation, and a touch of sweetness. A+, 10 out of 10.
nick got “la pampa”
La pampa is a province near Buenos Aires is home to millions of happy bees. se our delicious honey blend for a delightfully silky, yet cooling gin sour.
Ingredients: Gin - Eucalyptus Honey - Citrus
he also loved this. Excellent first choices
foodwise we shared the lobster tacos, truffle fries and empanadas. Not very Thai of us but we were hungry and how could we not try the food at the four seasons. It did not disappoint. 10/10.
We should have just left it there but we decided to try two more cocktails. They were definitely not our taste. I won’t stay too long on this because the overall experience was amazing the next cocktails were just too floral and earthy and also very strong but they were both a 10/10 aesthetically.
We’ve left Bangkok now and are ready for some island hopping. Koh samui is our first stop so stay tuned :)

Snippet smut list v2 3F Issei x Convincing Samui to not try to capture and bring him to Kumo. Just stay with him so they can fuck.
Version 2: 3F
Well, she had to admit, he was persuasive. Samui had been sent specifically to hunt down the rogue ninja Issei Hyoudou and bring him to justice, but when she'd ran into him it had been in less than ideal positions--namely, he'd found her while she was washing in the waterfall, and had successfully stolen her clothes and weapons in order to bargain with her.
She lets him have his way with her, and if he doesn't satisfy her, she could take him to Kumo. If he did, she would stay with him. It was utterly outrageous...but Samui was admittedly bored of the usual way of missions. Besides, just how good of a fuck could Issei really be?
Very fucking good, turns out.
The blonde and busty as all hell Kumo kunoichi was currently moaning up a storm, her head rolling back as she rolled her hips over Issei's face. So far, all he'd done was eat her out--and yet, his tongue! That dexterous tongue was fucking her tight, sweet pussy better than any Kumo shinobi ever had! She moaned out again, arching her back as she bucked down into him, gasping for breath.
"I-Issei~ I-Issei~ c-cool down a bit~" she gasped out, her massive tits heaving. "I-It's so good~ s-so good~ b-but I need a break~"
The handsome shinobi smirked up at her and shook his head, humming into her quivering snatch. "Not until you give, Samui~ either you say you're staying with me, or I'm gonna keep this up until you cum~"
Samui moaned out at that, and her hips bucked harder into his face. She didn't want to say it, but the pleasure was building up too fast. "F-fuck~ fuck~ fine~! I'll stay~! I'll stay~!"
As the words fell from her lips, Issei smirked and slowly pulled back. Samui finally caught a sigh of relief--only to immediately squeal as his tongue worked double time on her pussy and clit. Immediately, she crashed into a violent climax over his face, her eyes rolling back as she quivered with pleasure over him.
She continued to writhe into euphoric bliss as he steadily laid her down on her back, letting her rest a moment before he moved to mount her, his cock lined up with her abused pussy for more fun with his new personal Kumo fuckdoll.

Could you do a Darui x reader headcanons in which he has the biggest crush on reader?!
Dude I'm literally crying! I had to write it IMMEDIATELY! I freaking love Kumogakure and I HAVE the biggest crush on Darui and some other (Yugito, Samui, Shii, Omoi... all of them I guess) 😭🙏
Hope you like it ♡ (Made him pre Raikage bc bruuh that moustache ;_;)
• Okay so Darui is THE coolest dude™
• But you are his tiny little weakness
• He's not overly clumsy or idiotic like Iruka BUT he has his not so cool moments
• He will start sweating if you come very close to him and look up to his eyes, because he's so tall
• You'll see a light blush on his cheeks and a surprised look on his face
• You're the sweetest, the funniest and the hottest person on earth, how could he resist?
• You work in the residence of the raikage (secretary, assistant, analyst, observation... you choose ♡) so you COULD meet up often because he's the right-hand-man of the raikage
• He literally has wobbly legs when he tried asking you out for a dinner or lunch break but Shii cancelled his plans.
• He came bursting into the door like "Ah, here you are Darui! I was searching for you! The Raikage has a Mission for us."
• Oh hell no, that poor man!
• He stares at Shii, angry but trying to stay calm. He'll apologise and say goodbye to you. He'll try it another time.
• You think he'll ask the next time? Oh no this poor soul will be interrupted a few times by Team Samui, Bee, Shii or the Raikage himself.
• At some time will loose his cool. He'll crash through the door (well he opens the door eagerly) and shouts if you want to grab some food with him
• You're sitting with your team and once he realized he'll blush to the colour of a tomato
• But before he can vanish, you say yes.
• Aww that surprised look on his face when he look at your smiling one
• And your team mates hahaha!
• So when you're on your way to the restaurant there would be awkward silence
• Darui is not an idiot but he's afraid that he'll say something wrong and scare you away.
• So you have to help him a bit out and make him feel welcomed
• He will literally melt if you initiate body contact, even if you just lean on him back against back or shoulder to shoulder.
• You're giving him a hug? Your soft squishy breasts against his chest? He's pudding now bye
• Team Samui is sailing with this ship btw
• That's why he probably finds out that you too like him mucho muuucho too
• Once he got the confidence from this information he's the cool but romantic one and you'll LOVE it
• Candlelight dinner on a rooftop terrace in Kumogakure? Yes!!!
• First will be traditionally at your door
• And his/your favourite kiss will be definitely this one:
He leans with his elbow against the wall, sleepy eyes looking into yours. You smile lovingly and brush your hands over his chest as he lowers his head to press a soft kiss onto your lips. He's a good kisser and loves to take his time to enjoy it. A hand will caress your cheek and you bury your finger into his fluffy white hair
• God yes
• I imagine him also to always lay an arm around his s/o's shoulder
• Did I mentioned he's tall? Well he's tall and handsome and cool and I love him
• Enjoy this man!
• Also, I saw this gif and got the headcanon of him being a cool but very protective partner. Just look at this konoha dude hahaha
• Darui be like "Das my baby and I'm gonna chop off every body part that touches her"

You should know how to use 'hazu'
BY AKEMI TANAHASHI AND HITOMI TASHIRO CONTRIBUTING WRITERS
Kaigi wa go-ji ni owaru hazu desu. (The meeting should end at 5 p.m.)
Situation 1: It’s 4:45 p.m. and two colleagues are talking to each other at the office.
Shiba: Department head Yamani is in a meeting now, right?
Tien: The meeting should end at 5 p.m. If you wait outside the meeting room, you can catch her.
The word はず is a dependent noun that expresses the speaker’s expectation that something will take place. The structure Xはず — in which “X” can be a noun, verb or adjective phrase in its noun-modifying form — is generally translated as “should X.” It’s important to note that in this situation the speaker likely has a piece of information that makes them certain of their expectation. In Situation 1, Mr. Tien was aware of Ms. Yamani’s schedule and thus says 5時(ごじ)に終(お)わるはず (it should end at 5 p.m.).
今(いま)直(なお)したので、電気(でんき)はつくはずです。 (I fixed the light now, so it should turn on.)
同(おな)じ学校(がっこう)で働(はたら)いているので、田中(たなか)先生(せんせい)は井田(いだ)先生を知(し)っているはずです。 (Ms. Tanaka should know Ms. Ida, they work at the same school.)
Situation 2: Section chief Mr. Okubo and his staff are working at the office.
大久保: 何だか寒くない?
三田: あ、寒いはずですよ。暖房が切れています
Ōkubo: Nandaka samukunai?
Mita: A, samui hazu desu yo. Danbō ga kirete-imasu.
Okubo: Isn’t it a bit cold?
Mita: Oh, no wonder it’s cold. The heater is off.
The pattern Xはず, in which “X” is the subject, can also be used when the speaker has discovered the reason for something. In this case, Mr. Mita has discovered that the heater is off. In addition to that, the sentence illustrates how はず is used with an i-adjective. Here are some examples with a na-adjective and nouns:
リンさんはパソコンが得意(とくい)なはずなので、その仕事(しごと)はリンさんに頼(たの)むといいですよ。 (Ms. Lin should be good at computers, so it’d be good to ask Ms. Lin to do that job.)
締(し)め切(き)りは来週(らいしゅう)のはずだから、急(いそ)いだほうがいいよ。 (The deadline should be next week, so you’d better hurry.)
店(みせ)の電話番号(でんわばんごう)は03-383-41XXのはずです。(The telephone number of the shop should be 03-383-41XX.)
Note that numbers can be treated as nouns, and that the particle の is used before はず when it follows a noun.
Bonus Dialogue: Two colleagues are gossiping about Mr. Tien.
Gray: I heard that Mr. Tien’s mother was a fashion model a while back.
Tamachi: Ahh. Well, no wonder Mr. Tien is so cool. Since he’s so good-looking and sweet, he must be very popular among the ladies. He must be busy with dates on the weekends.
Gray: Actually, it seems he’s not dating all the time on weekends. I heard he’s hanging out with the family he did a homestay with before. His colleague Ms. Shiba said so.
Tamachi: Huh? There’s gotta be a beautiful daughter in the home.
Gray: Apparently, the daughter is married and not in the home but she still sometimes brings her husband and kids around. Only the son and his mom are living there now. I heard they’re like a true family to Mr. Tien. Therefore, you’ve got a chance, Ms. Tamachi. Don’t give up!
Tamachi: If I had that kind of courage, I shouldn’t (be suffering) from such unrequited love.

#vaKATEtion: Thaila-la-land 2017 Part 01
One of my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio movie is The Beach. Some says that the movie has ruined the Lord of the Flies book for the generation X which was written by Alex Garland. Honesty, the beginning of the movie was spectacular but towards the end, it was not adapted very well since the book was freaking auhhhmazing.
Anyway, why am I rambling about The Beach? Because on my bucket list, Thailand is one of the country I look forward to exploring and the setting of the book and the movie is in Thailand ( But they say that Alex Garland inspiration is the Philippines).
Thailand is the most famous gateway to Asia by almost all back packers, tourist and travelers across the globe. I’ve met people here in Dubai and outside of it who always say that Thailand is one of the best place they’ve been to and I get it. People are gravitating towards a place full of culture, amazing food, spectacular beaches, one of a kind parties, and generally locals who are very hospitable and has a great disposition in life.
I, myself, was not immune to it’s charm thus, the reason why my best friend Jay and I planned our first trip outside the Philippines and Dubai to be none other than Thailand.
Ko Wua Talap, Ang Thong National Marine Park
We wanted to experience Thailand on it’s full glory and we went their during the summer of this year visiting 5 of the top places to go when in Thailand.
Bangkok
Koh Samui
Koh Pangan
Phuket
Phi Phi Islands
Since my best friend and I are both in the travel industry, we drafted our own itinerary researching hard on the best routes, transportation, party to go to, accommodations and places we both want to see.
It was a challenge because we have only 7 days to visit 5 different places and try to experience and be a pseudo-backpacker.
From Manila we traveled to Bangkok and only stayed for 10 hours before flying to Koh Samui.
Got a good deal with Thai Airways
Riding the BTS to the city
We wanted to eat authentic Thai food and experience the wild side of Bangkok. An overnight experience was not enough but we did try to make the most out of it.
We went around Sukhumvit Road and bar hopped a little. Drinking local beers and people watch. There are so many expats and tourist around it feels like I’m still in Dubai.
We headed to Bangkok’s red light district in Patpong and I got amazed on how legit pretty are the Lady Boys are. I can say it was an experience.
Going local in Bangkok
The bars are facing each other and tables and chairs scattered the street so you can just sit down, grab your favorite poison and enjoy the show. People may get a little rowdy as the night goes on but it’s already expected.
The mango sticky rice was the champion of my night. All the best food are just food stalls by the side of the road or hole in the wall type of restaurant. Those legit thai taste you are looking for are prepared by the locals effortlessly plus is so cheap you can stuff your face until you cry sriracha sauce.
By two in the morning, we are already rushing to the airport to catch our flight to Koh Samui.
Koh Samui has the best looking airport for me with it’s open style. You’ll get the look and feel of a tropical island once you landed and checked out.
There are so many good places to stay in Koh Samui. If you’re a couple who are in their honeymoon the best place would be Maenam. If you will be going with your families go check out Bhoput and Lamai area. But if you’re like us, wannabe backpackers, party goers and adventure junkies, the best place to stay is in Chaweng beach and the number one hotel in the area is Ark Bar Beach Resort. Just make sure to choose a room far from the beach since it tends to get a little bit noisy when the party starts.
You know which bed is mine :))))))
We checked in, freshen up, put on our swimsuits and had coffee while waiting for our pick up for our full day tour of Ang Thong National Marine Park. It is an archipelago of over forty islands in the central gulf coast of Southern Thailand.
All of the islands are uninhabited and undeveloped except for two. One being Ko Wua Talap where the famous viewpoint and head quarter is located and other, Ko Paluay, which is inhabited by some locals who still earn a living from fishing.
Mind you we did not have any sleep after partying in Bangkok and we are running on low energy but the trip would be so worth it so had to push it.
We got our tour package with 100 Degrees East. We had so many options but this is by far the best tour package since they have their own speedboat and there are so many good reviews about them. They did not disappoint. Their team are fun, very friendly and accommodating.
From the life jacket which is by the way clean unlike most jackets on different tours, their snorkeling gears and diving gears are top notch.
The people who can join the tour is very limited to only 10 people however, it actually is better than joining big groups where in you won’t really be able to bond with all the people on the tour.
The local authorities manning the Marine Park will not allow boats to travel without life jackets even though you know how to swim. Safety first!
On our way to the Marine Park which would take around 30 to 40 minutes.
It was drizzling a bit but a little rain won’t be able to stop us.
The salt in my mouth at this point was overflowing due to over snorkeling. It was awesome though. We saw some sting rays, bazillions of sea urchins if you get tired of swimming you’d probably be dead once you step on them, a tiny barracuda and my heart skipped a bit, transparent fishies ( I don’t know what they are called), millions of dory and many more. I keep following the fishes, our guide was probably pissed off. HAHAHA
Thai feast in this beautiful island
We then kayaked around the other islands for us to explore them.
You can see the Sphinx like island on our back ground
Amazed at how beautiful are the islands
Our crew/bangkero/tour guide/life guard/waiter are the best photographers. They basically know where is the right angle to take good photos of all the islands we can visit and explore. Super props to these guys.
Beshies 2017
Ko Wua Talap, this is the headquarters of the Ang Thong Marine Park. This view is seen in so many postcards of Thailand I just had to take plenty of photos here.
Tanned AF
You had to trek to get to this place so it is advisable to bring rubber shoes/ trekking shoes. But since we were wearing our slippers only we did not trek until the highest view point. Now that I think of it, I’m kind of disappointed but I was very tired so.......Yeah.....Lame excuses.
It was well worth it though and this post was suppose to be for 2017.
Guess what? It’s 2020 and I still want to post it. Fuck it!:)

I’ve been curious. I want to know everyone’s favorite crack ships. Not rare pairs. Give me your favorite naruto ships that make no sense for whatever reason.
Here I’ll start:
Rock Lee x Kurotsuchi
Kankuro x Tenten (a puppet master and weapons master together? Come on!)
Ino x Suigetsu
Hinata x Sai
Sasuke x Sai
Chouji x Ayame (the ramen girl!)
Sasuke x Samui (Something about the idea of her telling him to cool it. An uchiha? Cool it?)
Kinkaku x Tobirama (not a healthy one. based on theory that the gold and silver brothers seem to have an obsession with him.)
And that’s all I can think of for now! What about you?

Dean Wilson reacts to the death of Shane Warne, aged 52
Former England captain Michael Vaughan has paid tribute to Australian cricket legend Shane Warne following the tragic news of his death.
The iconic Australian cricketer died on Friday aged 52 of a suspected heart attack.
Adored by millions around the world, the charismatic Warne is considered by many as the greatest bowler to ever play the game.
His illustrious international career spanned 15 years and saw him take 708 Test wickets – the most ever by an Australian and only behind Muttiah Muralitharan in the all-time standings – as well as the most wickets taken in Ashes history with a stunning 195.
Shane Warne was one of cricket’s great characters (

He retired from international cricket in 2007 after Australia whitewashed England 5-0 in 2006-07 Ashes series but continued playing first-class and List A cricket with Hampshire until the end of the county season.
Vaughan, who played against Warne numerous times in the Ashes, befriended the spin-bowler and took to social media to pay tribute.
“I can’t tell you how hard it is to get this down in words .. it’s just doesn’t feel real to be talking about someone who once was an enemy on the pitch to one who became a great friend off it,” Vaughan wrote on Instagram. “Shane was the greatest ever cricketer but more than that his character lit up every dressing room , comm box , bar , golf club & friendship group .. his energy & positivity was beyond anyone I have ever known .. he was loyal beyond loyal .. at a time I needed support he was the first to pick up the phone & over advice /help & the most utmost support.
“I will never ever forget the warmth he & his family gave me this winter when I was down under for Xmas alone .. To say I spent Warneys last Xmas with him & his family is so sad but one I will cherish .. all of us eating Turkey ,beef ,the usual Xmas trimmings & the King to stick to his Lasagne sandwich’s with bread rolls plastered with butter .. that’s Warney … the superstar .. the greatest .. friends to world superstars .. everyone wanted to be around him but ultimately he was just a normal guy who could do incredible things.

More Than Words Can Say
Summary: Yuuri gets sick with a cold in Hasetsu and loses his voice! How will he and Victor be able to communicate? How will Victor care for Yuuri? Takes place somewhere between episodes 5 and 6.
I’ve been harboring this idea of a sickie who entirely loses their voice for a long time (which I guess is why it ended up being so damn long. I tried to shorten it, I really did try!). This was supposed to be a bit crack-like but surprisingly ended up containing a lot more fluff. In fact, there's barely even any whump in here. Oh well! Without further ado, please enjoy!
3400~ words
Real quick in case you don't already know because the story will make more sense if you do:
Kanji: Japanese picture-word(s), essentially Hiragana: symbol(s) used to represent a single phonetic Katakana: like hiragana, but used for foreign words and names Cyrillic: Russian writing system Romaji: Japanese written using the English alphabet. (Will be italicized)
~~~
Victor wears a concerned frown while he rubs Yuuri's back as the latest coughing fit forces its way out of Yuuri's throat. They sound dry and unproductive, not to mention painful. He's been dealing with them the whole day ever since he woke up; it came with the cold that hit him like a ton of bricks, no warning whatsoever.
When Yuuri at last catches his breath, his inhales have become shallow so as not to start another fit and he has tears forming at the edges of his eyes. His hand which had been balled into a fist over his chest is now rubbing at his sore throat. “Hurts,” Yuuri rasps, then winces at the pain that the talking caused him.
“Try not to talk. You'll only make it worse,” Victor advises. He rubs Yuuri's back again, noting the heat his body is giving off even though the shirt. For such a sudden cold, it's not too bad; his fever is low, but the coughs are worrisome.
“I'm going to get you sick if you're not careful,” Yuuri warns. His voice is cracking and broken and he coughs again, but thankfully it doesn't turn into another fit.
“Nonsense! I have a good immune system! Plus I want to look after my sweet Yuuri!” Victor gushes. “I'm going to pamper you and provide the utmost level of TLC until you get better!”
Yuuri just gives a moan and dramatically flops onto his back and closes his eyes. “Tired,” he mumbles.
“It's getting late. You should get some more sleep. Although you shouldn't be laying flat with how much you're coughing.”
With much reluctance, Yuuri hauls himself up to a seated position. Victor takes the time to fluff the numerous pillows and place them between Yuuri and the headboard, then he tucks the blanket around Yuuri as he leans back. “Hopefully you'll feel better by tomorrow morning,” Victor says and places a gentle kiss on Yuuri's warm forehead.
Yuuri hardly even blushes, already grown used to Victor’s many displays of affection. The two have been getting much closer, both as student and coach and also as something more. Even without words, they both know they have a deeper bond developing. Just the thought makes Victor's heart swell.
As Yuuri's eyes begin to droop, Victor gets up from the bed and heads to the door to let him rest in peace. “Sleep well, my Yuuri,” he whispers and softly closes the door.
~
The next morning comes and Victor is marching through the hallways of the onsen with a tray in hand. He reaches Yuuri’s door and knocks three times in succession with his free hand. Upon hearing no response, he assumes Yuuri is sleeping. Just to be safe, he knocks again, gently calling Yuuri’s name as he slowly opens the door and peers inside where he finds his patient still propped up against the pillows, already awake.
“Good morning, Yuuri!” Victor greets and Yuuri meet Victor’s eyes and gives a small wave. “I brought you some stuff!” he says, placing the tray down on the table beside the bed. He dutifully takes Yuuri's temperature and gets him to swallow some pills, much to Yuuri's discomfort. Once done, a tangible silence fills the room.
“You're even more quiet than usual today, Yuuri,” Victor notes with mingling teasing and concern as he notices Yuuri fidgeting uncomfortably. “You haven't said a word all morning.” The fidgeting stops and he freezes. “Are you feeling okay?” Victor asks. Yuuri nods quickly and Victor only frowns. He’s obviously hiding something. “You know you can tell me anything. I'll get you whatever you need. It's really no problem. Your word is my command.”
Yuuri remains silent and Victor is patient. If Yuuri has something to say, there's no use in forcing him to talk right away. He'll tell Victor when he's ready. They've been together long enough to know that's what works best.
Sure enough, Yuuri finally meets Victor’s eyes. He opens his mouth and moves his lips but no sound comes out, then he points at his throat and makes an x-formation with his arms in front of his body.
He holds the position while Victor stares, trying to decode what Yuuri could possibly mean. Why doesn't he just come out and tell Victor what's wrong using words?
A moment passes and Victor understands.
“Yuuri, have you lost your voice?” Victor asks and Yuuri nods. “Oh, you poor thing!” Victor coos. “How adorable!” Yuuri gapes at him, blushes and scowls. “Just what are we going to do with you?” Victor muses joyfully, then his expression suddenly falls. How is he going to care for Yuuri if he doesn't know what he needs? This might end up being troublesome…
“Okay, Yuuri!” Victor declares and Yuuri focuses his attention on him. “Because you can't talk, we're going to have to figure something out so you can communicate what you need,” he says seriously. “Any ideas?”
Yuuri puts a hand on his chin in thought, face focused and determined, then he abruptly snaps his fingers and looks up with an accomplished smile on his face. He waves his finger in the air, likely trying to imitate an action of some kind or spell out a word, but Victor can't decipher it. Yuuri stops, but he doesn't give up. He changes the action, holding his left palm towards himself and uses his other hand like a pen.
“Writing! Of course!” Victor exclaims. “I’ll ask your parents if they have anything we can use!” Victor says before rushing out of the room.
By the time he's halfway to his destination, he realizes he could have easily checked Yuuri's room for pen and paper. But then again, he should let the Katsuki’s know their son is sick. The onsen was so busy yesterday that Victor had spent the entire day caring for Yuuri on his own, barely able to leave the bedroom as the young skater struggled to catch his breath through his fierce coughs. It's unlikely anyone else even knows he's caught a cold.
Victor spots Yuuri's mother and calls her over, but it's only once she starts approaching him that he realizes his problem with communicating doesn't stop at Yuuri's missing voice; Yuuri's parents know about as much English as Victor knows Japanese.
He and Yuuri talk in English for the most part as it's the language the two are most comfortable in. Yuuri teaches him small words and phrases of his language when he can, but Victor is nowhere near fluent yet. Plus, it's a lot harder to put his own thoughts into adequately formed sentences compared to simply listening.
“Vicchan!” Hiroko greets. “What's the matter?” she asks in lightly accented English.
Victor’s eyebrows crease in hard thought. Cold, cold… What's the Japanese word for cold? “Ah! Samui! Yuuri wa samui desu!” Victor exclaims triumphantly. He remembers Yuuri muttering the words sometimes while rubbing his crossed arms to keep them warm on the ice, so it has to be right! Okay, half down, half to go. Now he just needs to tell her Yuuri has lost his voice.
“Samui? Ah, kaze wo hiita no?” Hiroko asks.
Kaze means wind, Victor manages to recall, and he frowns as he curses the language barrier. Wind has nothing to do with this! Yuuri has a cold, not is cold. Although he might have chills from his fever, now that Victor thinks about it.
“Umm...sick? Yuuri wa sick desu!” Victor tries once more, accepting that's about as close as he's going to get. Just for good measure, he mimics the actions that Yuuri demonstrated to Victor to get his message across.
Thankfully, understanding seems to dawns on her and she heads in the direction of Yuuri's bedroom. Victor trails behind her as she reaches the door and opens it up to reveal Yuuri in the same position Victor had left him.
Hiroko embraces her son and asks him a number of questions in Japanese and Yuuri nods or shakes his head in response while Victor stands rather awkwardly to the side of the room, trying to listen to the conversation. He catches the words kaze and samui again as well as his name. Hiroko must have said something funny because Yuuri laughs, albeit soundlessly, then casts a glance over at him.
Yuuri turns back to his mother and acts out pen and paper and she rummages through some drawers in Yuuri's desk and emerges with a small whiteboard and a marker which she hands to him.
The first thing he writes is “hungry” in English plus what Victor can only assume is the Japanese translation written underneath it. At that, Hiroko says something to Yuuri who nods then she skips out of the room, leaving Yuuri and Victor alone.
“I really need to start learning more Japanese,” Victor muses mostly to himself. “That aside, how are you feeling, Yuuri?” he asks his patient, “On a scale from 1-10. 10 being ‘I can run a marathon right now’ and 1 is ‘take me to the hospital’.” Yuuri ponders for a moment, scribbles on his board and holds it up revealing a solid 6. Not too bad.
“How is your fever? Too hot? Too cold?” Yuuri just shakes his head and jots down “okay”. “Headache?” Victor asks, getting a so-so gesture of his hand in response. When asked if he has a sore throat, Yuuri nods immediately. “Can I get you anything?” Victor offers.
He looks down to his whiteboard again and writes, “Mom is bringing tea.”
Victor smiles. “That's good. Your mom is a great caretaker. And she was smart enough to understand what I was trying to say despite my obviously eloquent Japanese,” he jokes, eliciting another silent laugh from Yuuri. “I really do wish I knew more…” he sighs.
Yuuri scoots over on the bed and invitingly pats the spot next to him. Victor’s heart swells fondly and he accepts, sitting as close to Yuuri as the man will let him, which turns out to be hip to hip. Victor is grateful Yuuri has been more open and comfortable with him. They really have come a long way in the past number of months they've been living and training together. Yuuri flashes him a warm smile then turns his attention back to his lap where he writes, “Want me to teach you Japanese?”
“Yes! Of course! I would love that!” Victor exclaims. Despite having lived in Japan surrounded by the language, he hasn't put muchーif anyーeffort into learning it. He simply hasn't had the time or motivation. Having Yuuri as a teacher, though, is the best motivation Victor could possibly ask for. Having him teach Victor his native language, it's special, almost intimate.
At Victor’s enthusiasm, Yuuri wipes the board clean then writes out in diligent strokes: 勝生勇利. “I know that one! That's your name!” Victor says.
Yuuri nods and adds the pronunciation on top before writing, “Do you know what my name means?”
“No, I don't. Tell me,” he asks, voice equal parts soft and intrigued. He sees Yuuri write in English “win, life, courage.”
“Yuuri. Courage,” Victor tries, as if testing the name and its new meaning on his tongue. “I like it. It suits you,” he compliments. “Teach me more,” he requests, and Yuuri obliges.
The next hour or so consists of just that: Yuuri teaching Victor any kanji he thinks would be important or that he finds interesting, while Victor occasionally asks how he would write a particular word. At one point, Victor recalls his communication mishap with Yuuri's mother and asks for the Japanese word for cold. Yuuri thinks for a moment, then writes two different words: 寒い and 風邪, writing “samuiーfeeling” under the first set of characters and “kazeーillness” under the other two.
“Oh,” Victor laughs, finally understanding. “I told your mom you were cold, not had a cold. And then she mentioned something about the wind.”
At this, Yuuri circles the first of the two partnered characters in the second word and writes, “This on its own means wind. Both pronounced kaze.”
“Japanese is so confusing!” Victor bemoans while running a hand through his hair. He suddenly gets an idea. “Hey, I know! How about I teach you a bit of Russian?”
Yuuri nods excitedly and hands the whiteboard over. Victor ponders what to write for a moment, overjoyed at the feel of Yuuri's expectant gaze on him. He smiles and writes out “Виктор Никифоров.” Beside him, Yuuri gives another silent laugh before taking back the pen and writing “I already know your name.”
“Okay then, Mr. Number One Fanboy,” he teases while writing out some simple vocabulary, “try reading this one.”
Yuuri studies the symbols before he gives up and writes, “Can't read Cyrillic,” with an added frowny face.
“Here, I'll teach you,” Victor says. “Just like you taught me.”
They pass more time like that, Yuuri picking up on the writing system surprisingly quick while Victor teaches him some more words. Yuuri seems to be doing better in terms of his health. He hasn't complained about being too hot or cold, although his fever had been quite mild to begin with. He's no longer coughing and he doesn't seem uncomfortable. All in all, he appears well. The only real sign he's even sick is the barely-visible red tinting his cheeks and his inability to talk.
While Victor may miss Yuuri's voice and the music that is his laughter, he can't help but savour the peace found in the sound of both of their quiet breathing, interrupted only by the soft squeak of the marker on the whiteboard and Victor's voice, kept at a low volume.
“You skate like your body is creating music, and your hand has art flowing from your fingertips,” he muses aloud, utterly transfixed on Yuuri's elegant handwriting. “Everything about you is beautiful, Yuuri. Breathtakingly so.”
Yuuri blushes and ducks his head and Victor smiles, knowing that while Yuuri may not be totally used to accepting praise, he has already gained much more confidence and love for himself.
Yuuri hands off the marker and Victor hums in thought, debating over what to write next. He has an idea, but isn't sure how Yuuri will react to that. He knows they've been getting closer and developing a much deeper relationship, but what if it's too soon? What if Yuuri doesn't feel the same way? The tip of the marker hovers in midair about a centimetre off the board.
“Okay, how about this one?” Victor asks with more confidence than he feels. He carefully carves out the letters as if carving out his own heart and presenting it to Yuuri. He may as well be, given what he just wrote: я люблю тебя. To both his excitement and anxiety, Yuuri freezes as he reads the words. “Do you know what it means?” Victor asks. He's not sure how he managed to get the words out since his throat suddenly feels so tight and dry. His heart has yet to slow down, pounding rapidly in his chest.
Yuuri doesn't react to Victor’s question; he doesn't shake or nod his head. He takes the marker from Victor’s hand, their warm fingers brushing. Victor keeps his eyes glued on Yuuri's work, watching stroke by stroke as the image comes into being. It's a character Victor recognizes, the theme of Yuuri's Grand Prix series: 愛
Love.
Yuuri understands what Victor wrote. But does he understand what he feels?
To the bursting of his heart, Yuuri continues to write. There's some hiragana which Victor still struggles to read, but there's also some Cyrillic that Victor can definitely understandーhis own name. It makes the rest of the sentence click. “Виктор を愛してる.” As if Yuuri was unsure if Victor would understand, he writes Victor’s name in katakana next to the Cyrillic Victor himself had previously written.
Victor regards the masterpiece, a heartfelt mixture of Japanese and Russian and a dash of English, all spelling out love. Victor’s love for Yuuri and Yuuri’s love for Victor.
Yuuri puts the cap on the marker and looks up at Victor, locking eyes with him. There's a prominent blush on Yuuri's cheeks that Victor is certain has nothing to do with his fever, and his eyes hold a passionate spark that makes his heart jump.
Victor is sure he's blushing too. He feels uncharacteristically nervous, staring deep into Yuuri's beautiful eyes as Yuuri does the same to him. “Do you...do you really mean it?” Victor asks, more accurately breathes out. He has to be sure. He can't live without the knowledge that Yuuri for sure loves him, just like he said. Just like he wrote.
Yuuri nods affirmatively, and Victor’s heart blooms inside his chest as he embraces him, pulling him into a tight hug that Yuuri returns. When they pull away, Yuuri's lips are curved upwards in a smile. Victor stares, so utterly captivated by his beauty, until he can’t help but lean forward to capture Yuuri's lips with his own. It barely lasts a second and Victor is the first to pull away, desperately hoping he didn't cross a line with Yuuri. To his relief, Yuuri is smiling even brighter than before.
His beaming grin is suddenly lost as shock instead crosses his features. He tears the cap off the marker and scribbles in quick and messy English, “You're going to get sick now!”
Victor just laughs. “If I'm already going to get sick, then can I have another kiss?” Victor teases. To his joy, Yuuri complies, initiating the kiss himself this time. It's a bit longer than the first, but still too short. It's soft and gentle and oh so sweet, and Victor lips are still tingling with warmth long after Yuuri has pulled away.
“Victor?” Yuuri asks, rousing Victor from his sleep. He smiles at the sound of Yuuri’s voice. It's come back at last, but not in full. It still sounds rather weak.
Still half-asleep, Victor gives a happy sigh, relishing in the plush feel of the bed and the blanket, the comforting warmth of the body next to him and the gorgeous eyes staring into his own. “Good morning, Yuuri,” he tries to say, except no words come out, and he and Yuuri both realize at the same time and with a start that he has no voice.
“I told you I was going to get you sick,” Yuuri says as Victor once again tries and fails to talk. All that comes out is a humiliating squeak and Victor flushes a dark red at the sound.
“Here. Write down what you need,” Yuuri instructs while handing him the whiteboard and marker. “And open up,” he adds. Victor complies and holds the thermometer under his tongue with a pout as he writes on the board. By the time the device beeps, Victor has finished writing: “headache, feel hot, tired. Want Yuuri.”
Yuuri gives a sympathetic smile at Victor's work, then his expression shifts to slightly more serious upon reading the thermometer. “I’m going to get you a cold facecloth for your fever. I'll be back soon.”
Victor tugs on his sleeve to prevent him from leaving and quickly scrawls out: “Aren't you still sick?”
“I get sick quickly and get over it quickly. That's how it's always been for me,” Yuuri tells him simply. His tone then changes, sounding more sad. “I guess you did too much talking yesterday, huh? You used up your voice. All for my sake too…” Yuuri trails off and Victor can tell he's feeling guilty and thinking it's his fault.
Victor quickly and firmly shakes his head at the self-doubting words. Yuuri gives him a small smile, but just that isn't enough for Victor. He erases the board and writes in English, “I love you! More than words can say,” and proudly holds it up to Yuuri. The words are surrounded with many hearts and happy faces and also his and Yuuri's name in both their native languages.
“I love you, too,” Yuuri says, his face breaking into a dazzling grin. Victor mirrors it, almost crying with happiness upon hearing the words in Yuuri's beautiful (albeit still fairly weak) voice. “Get some rest,” Yuuri adds with a gentle kiss upon Victor’s heated forehead.
Content, Victor puts the whiteboard down and settles into the blankets again, closes his eyes and falls asleep to the sound of Yuuri's light footsteps leaving the room.
Translations:
“Samui! Yuuri wa samui desu!”: Cold! Yuuri is cold!
“Samui? Ah, kaze wo hiita no?”: Cold? Ah, he caught a cold?
“Yuuri wa sick desu!”: Yuuri is sick!
To reiterate, 風 kaze means wind, 風邪 kaze means cold as in the illness, and 寒い samui is used if you're feeling cold.
勝生勇利: Katsuki Yuuri
Виктор Никифоров: Victor Nikiforov
я люблю тебя: I love you
愛: love
Виктор を愛してる: I love (you) Victor
(я люблю тебя, ヴィクトル is what Yuuri would have written after: I love you, Victor)
I'm sorry if Victor’s Japanese sounds cringey and unnatural because that was literally exactly what I was going for (so don't go spamming my inbox and calling me a weeb just because I threw desu on the end of every sentence. It was intentional.)
I've been studying Japanese since highschool, so about 4ish years now, so the Japanese used here (is not google translated and) should be correct! As for Russian, I (sadly) don't know the language, but @feverflushed was thankfully able to help me out with that!
Anyways, thank you for reading! :)
