something you've realized early on in your friendship with kaiser is that he's a coward.

he hates spiders, makes you throw the trash out at night, and screams whenever something falls out of its place because he thinks the apartment is haunted.

in the year that you've spent as his roommate, you've come to terms with it. he's nice, cleans his dishes, and helps with the laundry. he keeps the noise down to a minimum and cooks you breakfast when he isn't preoccupied with practice.

another perk of living with him is the fact that he buys you things, expensive things. perfume. flowers. the dress you were eyeing online. your favorite snacks. a limited edition plushy you've been wanting since forever.

anything.

you realized early on that michael kaiser is rude to other people, scoffing and smirking as if he's above everyone else. he mutters comments about them under his breath, thinking you can't hear. he bosses people around, looking at them like they're ants. a waste of his time.

he isn't like that with you.

for one, he's sweet. if the gift giving isn't enough, he goes out of his way to seek you out after his matches. he asks for massages, for small pecks and fleeting touches. he video calls you when he's away, never forgetting to wish you a good morning and sweet dreams through voice notes. all with a grin on his lips.

you aren't blind. you know those are his ways of expressing affection. you just wish he'd finally man up and admit his feelings.

"so, how was the date?"

kaiser's sitting on the couch of your living room, remote control in hand as he stares at the tv, some random soccer match showing across the screen. his hair is wet, and he's got his glasses on. his posture is relaxed, seemingly nonchalant as he asks the question.

you know him enough to see him gritting his teeth even through his bored expression.

"good evening to you too," you laugh, airy as you take off your heels. putting them next to the door, you drop your keys in the sage bowl, letting them clink against his. "have dinner yet?"

leaning against the door, you can see the fine lines of his shoulder tense. the kaiser you're used to is a show pony, the person sitting on your couch isn't. he almost looks like a stranger with his neutral expression and bored eyes. such a difference to the guy who usually comes running whenever you walk through the entrance.

"i ordered takeout." he motions to the plates littered around him, pointing at the fridge. "i saved you some of your favorites."

internally, you flutter. happy to know that the kaiser you know, and love, isn't completely gone.

"thank you, that's very sweet of you."

he's adamant on keeping his eyes off you and on the screen, his shoulders becoming even more tense as you open your arms wide.

"no hug for today?" there's a hopeful smile on your lips as you say the words. happy to finally have everything the way they should be.

only to be shut down with a single side eye from him.

"what?" he asks lowly, almost conceding in his words. almost like your presence bothers him, like all those other people do. like you aren't special to him anymore. "did your date dump you? and now you're looking to me for comfort?"

the words are icy, and he gives no room for rebuttals. not when he looks at you with a quirked eyebrow and a cocky smirk.

it's the first time he's used his persona on you. one he uses to hide away from the world. you decide that you hate it.

"no. actually, he was sweet," you bite back, glaring when you decide that enough is enough. "asked to hold my hand and carry me on his back."

you watch as his face darkens, his eyes clouding over until you can't recognize the pretty blue color they usually spark in. you're riling him up, making him angry. and it's working.

"why? jealous?"

it's the question you've been dying to ask for months now. he flirts like you're more than friends, buys you gifts like you're something special to him, shuts down every time you go on a date with someone that isn't him.

but when it comes down to it, you not his to have. not when he's too much of a coward to do anything about it.

"and if i am?" his words surprise you. it's the first time he's come close to revealing his true feelings in months. they're said with an underlying tone of anger, jealousy, and possessiveness. like you're already his and no one else's. "what's it to you?"

"oh, you know, just happy you're finally being a man and talking about your feelings."

you shouldn't have said that. with the way his eyes are practically glaring, you don't know what else to say. you look up when he stands, practically looming as he stalks to you.

"you're so-"

his words are interrupted by his cursing. he glares down at you, pushing his hand next to your head, pining you against the door. you gulp, watching as he practically shakes in anger.

"du machst mich wahnsinnig, liebling. ich glaube nicht, dass ich mich zurückhalten kann, wenn du weiterhin so eine göre bist."

translation: you're driving me mad, darling. i don't think i can hold back if you continue to be such a brat.

"he even asked to kiss me too," you say, your voice trembling under his dark gaze. your sweet and funny roommate is gone, replaced by the man you see in front of you. your heart is pounding against your chest, in both fear and excitement for what he'll do when you finally push him off the edge. "he-"

kaiser surges down, cutting your sentence off with a kiss.

your eyes widen when your head hits the door from his force. a shiver running down your spine when he lifts a hand, placing it on the back of your head, gently caressing the area. closing your eyes, you wrap your arms around his shoulder, kissing him back with just as much fervor.

he relaxes at that, pulling back slightly only to swoop back in, keeping you in his arms for as long as he wants. by the time he finally breaks the kiss, you're both leaning against each other.

you've never seen his eyes as happy as they are now.

"ich bin mir sicher, dass ich besser küsse als er," he says, smug as he takes in the way you're panting. he chuckles, placing his hands on the side of your neck to pull you into another kiss. "richtig, liebling?"

translation: i'm sure i kiss better than he does. right, darling?

"i don't know what you're saying but yes. okay. sure." you nod, head still hazy as his hands start to stroke your cheek. "if it's something bad, then no."

he chuckles, placing a kiss on the corner of your lips. he keeps you rooted in your spot, his eyes darting back between your eyes and your lips. "you're mine now, yeah? no one else gets to kiss you the way i did."

"about time," you say with a roll of your eyes when your breathing finally settles. you play with the hair around his shoulder, slightly tugging at the strands. "it went awful, by the way. he made me walk 3 kilometers because his car broke down."

his hands stop, freezing as he looks at you incredulously. "but you said-"

"i lied," you say with a cheeky grin. you lift yourself onto your tiptoes, placing a kiss on his cheek as an apology. "just wanted to see how you'd react."

you giggle when he groans, letting him settle in the crook of your neck. "you little minx. next time, call me. i'll pick you up and drop you off."

there's the kaiser you know and love.

"mihya." the nickname is odd on your lips, new and completely unrefined. you watch as he perks up, his eyes practically shining as he looks down at you. guess you'll just have to use the nickname on him more often from now on. "you're a terrible driver. you'd be picking me up at the mall and dropping us off at the gates of heaven."

"well, at least that means an angel will finally return home."

you smack his shoulder for that.

"did you have to come all the way here to be a showoff?" you greet him with a kiss to his cheek that kaiser visibly grins at.

ever since getting together, he's been hogging you all to himself. he insists on driving you to and from wherever you need because your time together is worth everything to him. "you are so petty. making sure no one even thinks of asking me out on another date?"

"you like it." the way he says it is breathless, like it's a secret he's been keeping to himself for a long time. "you like me."

who knew michael kaiser turned out to be such a corny romantic?

you snort, tugging him into the car before he makes any more of a scene. "i do."

he grins at that, revving the engine as loud as he can, smirking when a group of freshmen cheer and wave to him from behind the car.

"good." he takes your hand, placing a kiss on the knuckles. he holds it as he backs out of the university and into the open street. "be prepared because i'm about to spoil you even more."

Yumeno, The Dorm, and The Hunt

Marcoritas’ realm, from what Ariadne told me, is based on the Unicorn King’s real castle. It was said to be situated by the sea, so he could watch over the unicorns and ensure no harm could come to them. I don’t understand how a guy just throws unicorns into the sea, but I guess I can’t really question stuff in this world. Sometimes, I see Kaiser on the beach just looking at the water. I’d join him, but it’s way too cold! Redd doesn’t like the water either, apparently he’s not too good at swimming. Oh, there’s also the forest where the Hunt happens. The name sounds all ominous, but its just the shortened version of the Dorm Leader selection process. Its real name is called the Hunt of the Unicorn, and the game involves whats basically tag, but there’s only one who’s not it: the dorm leader. Whoever catches the dorm leader first is crowned as the new warden once the year ends. But if the dorm leader manages to hide for long enough, they either get to keep the crown or give it to someone they prefer! It sounds simple on paper, but Kaiser told me that fights tend to break out during the Hunt, making it a little dangerous to participate. I can’t say I’m surprised, though. All these idiots obsessed with a goal, it only makes sense that they start fighting tooth and nail to achieve it. Anyways, thats the ramble from me! How's the cafe doing?

A/ N. when i tell you i went to sephora to smell at least 15 scents and had employees ask me how i was doing five times is a mf understatement. i stood in front of that fragrance wall, sniffed and labeled the smells. srsly 5/10 would not go back unless i gotta, so mf crowded for what. again, i work as a cosmetician and these are opinions i think they would smell like. but definitely if you guys ever has a whiff of these scents let me know what you think!

༊*·˚ CHIGIRI HYOMA is 100% going to wear YSL LA NUIT DE HOMME EAU DE TOILETTE. this fragrance starts off very subtle, which is exactly what he's going for! super aromatic, and despite it supposedly being a spicy hot fragrance ( as in when you smell it, it's kinda warm ) there's this woodsy and slightly citrus smell that gaslights into making you smell this sweet note that pops up once it fully develops on him!! chigiri was definitely surprised at the warmth and kinda sweet smell it had, also his sister helped him chose it.

༊*·˚ YUKIMIYA KENYU with his sponsor BURBERRY HERO EAU DE PARFUM.  this guy is into some of the classics! despite how strong the scent comes off at first, it dials down to this spicy fresh scent. you'd be surprised how the spiciness isn't overwhelming and aromatic as well. there's an amazing cedar and citrus scent that makes it worth while! it really suits him as he goes with it since its long lasting and when he models it gives him a fresh and woody smell. he most like started wearing it after modelling with burberry and just stuck to it.

༊*·˚ NAGI SEISHIRO wears VALENTINO UMONO BORN IN ROMA EAU DE TOILETTE. this scent it is a nice woody but mineral like smell. a spicy hot middle note that gives you that warmth and comfiness when you smell it. very aromatic and slightly aquatic due to the salt and sage! just giving lots of at home and comfy vibes. he wants to go with something that he can wear on an everyday thing, and something that isn't to overpowering. he also doesn't give a shit if its a men or womens fragrance because his parents probably just bought it for him.

༊*·˚ ALEXIS NESS of course wears VERSACE DYLAN BLUE. this is very citrusy and very amber smelling when you spray it for the first time, but when it starts to dry down the scent will not be as strong and it's subtle! doesn't want to put kaiser's eros to shame. when it dries you'll be surprised to smell that fresh but also warm spicy ( like his mf personality ). hint of woodsy and musk that blends together to very subtle sweet aromatic smell. obviously, he would be a frequent versace buyer because of kaiser but doesn't wanna wear the same thing as him! .

༊*·˚ BACHIRA MEGURU surprisingly wears TOM FORD COSTA AZZURA EAU DE PARFUM. this aromatic smell is definitely unique... it has woody and citrus top notes when first sprayed, but there's a marine like scent after due to the seaweed!! this scent is enhanced due to the lavender, lemon and mandarin but what makes it super interesting is this herbaceous!! the vanilla gives you that warm, kinda spicy with an odd sweet smell? honestly when i smelt it i was like wtf is this bc its so different. bachira's mom bought for him 100%.

༊*·˚ HIORI YO wears MONT BLANC LEGEND SPIRIT FRESH. this screams him and i cannot be convinced otherwise ! this scent is something super freshly light, nothing overbearing due to the aquatic scents because of the grapefruit! theres a hint of spiciness but its super fresh because of the cardamom. the lavender and woody scent is giving a nice soft powdery feel. this has a hint of sweetness, you can't really smell it unless you concentrate to smell it but it hides just a bit behind those wood notes. hiori got this one because when he went out one of the salesperson suggested it to him and he likes how it makes him feel like he's not in his home.

༊*·˚ KURUNA RANZE is giving PRADA LUNA ROSA OCEAN. it’s nice fresh scent that has very mild woodsy notes!! reminds you as if you went to the ocean on a sunny day. it's powdery and aromatic and the musky note it has is super subtle! has that hint citrus scent with a slightly spicy note with it but what makes it an aromatic is the lavender. kuruna at first only smelt this because it said ocean, but he ended up actually liking it so he can feel like an on land shark boy.

Halb Tatort-Entzug, halb questionable decision einen der Salzburgkrimis zu lesen, die dann eskaliert ist. Jetzt habe ich festgestellt, dass ich doch schon einige geschaut habe

Der Tote am Teich (OÖ)

Erster Landkrimi den ich gesehen habe, weil ein gewisses Österreicher mit Hemdenallergie mitspielt. Der hatte dann etwa drei Szenen, eine davon auf dem Obduktionstisch (shirtless). Krimiplot extrem unmotiviert und eigentlich nur Hintergrundbeschallung für "Josef Hader schaut traurig in schöner Landschaft und hat sad backstory" und sorry das können die Engländer doch besser

Der Film auch nicht besser als die Bücher (also das eine, dass ich gelesen habe), da können auch Stefanie Reinsperger und Manuel Ruby nix retten. Alles einfach ziemlich klischeehaft und großer Twist am Ende einfach cringe

Entweder genial oder bescheuert. Ich bin mir selber nicht ganz sicher und das liegt nicht daran, dass der Dialekt manchmal etwas schwer zu verstehen ist. Und weil ich eine Schwäche für Karl Markowics habe sage ich einfach mal genial.

Solider Krimi der gegen Ende etwas in Klischees abdriftet, aber das Team ist extrem sympathisch. Und das ganz ohne Traumata. Wirklich. Und lustig ohne ins Klamaukige abzudriften

Ist halt literally Das letzte Problem in grün. Und zweimal funktioniert das nicht

- Alles Fleisch ist Gras, weil der Plot wunderbar wild klingt

- die gefühlt 737 Steiermark Krimis die demnächst alle wiederholt werden, weil wie gesagt: sympathisches Team, und wenn sie eh in der Mediathek sind, muss man sich keine Mühe machen sie zu finden

- Kreuz des Südens der demnächst auch wiederholt wird, und misteriöse Mordserien, deren Ursache in der Vergangenheit liegt sind halt genau mein Ding

- Höhenstraße, weil wilder Plot, Gastauftritt Moritz und Bibi und er ist auf Netflix

- Der Tote im See. Eventuell. Weil der direkt an den anderen aus OÖ anschließt und Joseph Hader noch ein bisschen weiter traurig in die Landschaft schauen kann. Außerdem habe ich einfach einen unglücklichen Hang Dinge bis zum bitteren Ende durchhalten zu müssen, wenn ich den ersten Teil nicht gerade abgrundtief hasse

- Achterbahn um dann das komplette Set "Tobias Moretti spielt Korrupte und/oder Arschlöcher" zu haben

- Flammenmädchen, weil letzer Salzburger mit Ruby/Reinsperger und manchmal ist mein Hang zum Komplettieren auch einfach Masochismus

- Der Schutzengel, weil Mediathek und ich glaube bei diesen Filmen muss man ausnutzen wenn einer davon irgendwo ist

- Vier, weil der wirklich gut sein soll

Andersens "Kleine Seejungfrau" ist an einer langen Tradition von Wasserfrauen angelegt, die lang ins Mittelalter führt. Von ihnen ist die kleine Meerjungfrau die erste, die sich weigert, den Menschen, der ihr Herz zerbrach, zu töten, und damit von dieser Tradition abbricht. Darum hab ich mir diese Szene ausgedacht, wo die älteren Nixen versuchen die Jüngste zu überzeugen, auch ihren Prinzen zu töten. Hier eine kleine Verdeutlichung:

Links: Melusine, die Wasserfee. Ihr Sagenstoff ist bis ins 12. Jahrhundert verwurzelt und schon im 13. wurde er mit der Adelsfamilie der Lusignans in Verbindung gebracht. Melusine heiratete Raymund unter der Bedingung, er dürfe sie nie Samstags beim Baden zusehen. Natürlich konnte der Ritter der Neugier nicht widerstehen und als er seine Frau mit einem Schlangenleib sah, flog diese davon und nahm Großteil des Glücks, das sie ihm geschenkt hatte, zurück.

Rechts: die Meerfei aus Egenolf von Staufenbergs Rittermäre. Wie viele mittelalterliche Patenfeen beschützte sie den Ritter Peter Diemringer auf dem Schlachtfeld. Sie verliebte sich und nahm eine heimliche Ehe mit ihm auf, doch er ließ sich vom Kaiser überzeugen und verließ den Wassergeist für die königliche Muhme. Zur Hochzeit stieß die Meerfei ihren Fuß durch die Decke und sagte ihm seinen Tod vor. In vielen Verdichtungen wird auch sie Melusine genannt.

Oben: Undine aus Friedrich de la Motte Foucqués Erzählung. Name und Handlung stammen aus Paracelsus Buch um Elementargeistern, die auch sein Kommentar auf die Staufenberger Sage enthält. Undine ist die Nixe, die der kleinen Meerjungfrau am ähnlichsten ist und auch sie hätte ihren geliebten nicht umgebracht, wenn ihre Familie sie nicht dazu gezwungen hätte. Benjamin Lacombes Illustrationen davon sind unheimlich schön.

Andersen's "little Seamaid" is radicated in a long tradition of heartbroken waterwomen, that goes back to the Middle Ages. Of them the little mermaid is the first who refuses to kill the human that broke her heart, thus splitting from that tradition. That's how I came up with this idea, of the older nixies trying to convince the youngest to follow their example and kill her prince as well. Here some more info on them:

Left: Melusine, the water fairy. Her legend stems from the 12th century and was already connected to the family of Lusignan by the 13th. Melusine married Raymund under the condition, that he would never see her bathe on a saturday. Naturally he couldn't resist his curiosity, and thus saw her exposed snakebody, which made her fly away, taking with her all the luck she had gifted him.

Right: the Merfey, from Egenolf von Stauffenberg's chivalric poem. Like many medieval fairy godmothers, her job was to aid the knight Peter Dimringer in battle, yet she fell in love with him and married in secret. However the knight was convinced by the emperor to reject the water sprite and remarry the royal aunt/cousin. The Merfey burst with her foot through the ceiling at the wedding, and foretold Peter his death in three days. In many adaptations her name is given as Melusine.

Up: Undine, from Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué's novella. Name and plot are taken from Paracelsus book on elementals, which also contained his commentary on the legend of Stauffenberg. Undine is the closest related to the little mermaid, and she too would have refused to kill her love, hadn't her family forced her to. I was inspired here by Benjamin Lacombe's wonderful illustrations.

"La Sirenetta" di Andersen va a pescare da una lunga tradizione di tragiche donne acquatiche, che ha le sue radici nel medioevo. Tra queste, la giovane sirena è la prima a rifiutarsi di uccidere l'uomo che le spezzò il cuore, rompendo così con la tradizione. Da qui mi è venuta l'idea per questa scena, dove le sirene più antiche cercano di convincere anche la più giovane ad ammazzare il suo principe. Ecco un po' di informazioni:

A sinistra: Melusina, la fata delle acque. La sua leggenda nasce nel XII secolo e già nel XIII fu ricondotta alla nobile famiglia di Lusignan. Melusina sposò Raimondo, a condizione che lui non la vedesse mai fatsi il bagno di sabato. Ovviamente lui non resisté alla curiosità e quando vide la moglie col corpo di serpente, lei scappò, portando via con se la fortuna che gli aveva donato.

A destra: la Fata Marina, dal poema cavalleresco di Egenolf von Staufenberg. Come molte fate madrine medievali, era incaricata di guidare e proteggere un cavaliere, Peter Dimringer, in battaglia. Ma si innamorò del mortale e lo sposò segretamente. Furono felici finché l'imperatore non convinse il cavaliere a lasciare lo spririto delle acque per sposare la zia/cugina di famiglia reale. La Fata Marina sfondò il soffitto della sala col piede al matrimonio e predisse allo sposo la morte entro tre giorni. In molte versioni della storia viene chiamata anche lei Melusina

In alto: Ondina, dalla fiaba d'autore di Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué. Nome e trama sono tratti dal libro di Paracelso sugli spiriti elementari, nel quale è anche contenuto un commento alla leggenda di Staufenberg. Ondina è la ninfa più simile alla sirenetta di Andersen, e infatti anche lei non avrebbe ucciso il suo amore, se la sua famiglia non l'avesse obbligata

Also ich weiß ja nicht, was ihr so für Marotten habt, aber meine coping strategy für Stress und drohende Deadlines ist mittlerweile, beim Arbeiten Roland Kaiser und andere Schlagergrößen auf Dauerschleife zu hören. Und wenn ich "Dauerschleife" sage, meine ich DAUERschleife. Von ein und demselben Lied. Über Stunden. Seit Tagen. Und das wird wahrscheinlich auch noch bis einschließlich nächsten Mittwoch so weitergehen. Und ich lieb's ein bisschen arg.

Es mag ein Fall von Küchenpsychologie sein, aber ich glaube, es ist diese Mischung aus "du weißt, dass es immer wieder kommt, und du kennst es auswendig, und es gibt dir deshalb Sicherheit (die du beim Arbeiten sonst nicht hast, weil du da an deinen eigenen skills zweifelst, impostor syndrome lässt grüßen)" und "es macht irgendwie einfach gute Laune, also fängst du an zu lächeln und mitzuwippen, und das verstärkt den Effekt quasi noch". Ok. Küchenpsychologie Ende. Ich geh dann mal weiter mein Spotify Wrapped verhunzen :D
