Hello!! I just wanted to say that I read your Undertale fic "the last mage" last night, and I absolutely loved it!!!

I was a bit skeptical at first but it absolutely pulled me in as I read more, I love how you wrote Iris & the other characters, and the plot was pretty clever and a very interesting idea! And it was very fun to make the choices and find the dialogue Easter eggs

I got the starshine ending on my first go, and I'll admit I haven't checked out the other routes, but damn that ending was everything I had hoped for and more!! It made me so happy that everyone got a happy ending (well, except Asgore. Rip) and I loved the relationship with Sans and how it progressed so so much.

It has absolutely become one of my favourite fics ever, and I am going to treasure it forever. So, thank you so much for writing such an amazing fic.

And a side note, the cover art was indeed absolutely gorgeous! And it helped having an image of iris in my head I read. You've a very talented friend and it's so great you've commissioned them to draw such a stunning piece.

Oh my gosh thank you so much for saying so!! I very sincerely enjoyed writing it even though I knew it wouldn't be everyone's first choice of something to read, so I'm very pleased you gave it a chance! Iris is still one of my favorite reader characters I've ever written and I had such a blast writing the Undertale cast. Starshine is my personal favorite ending and even though it's kind of strange that Undertale in general has a Thing™️ about not reading the other routes, it's kind of unique to the fandom and a precious sort of meta-trust to just leave the other routes as they are despite the fact that we know all the characters are fictional. I wrote the thing and I still only re-read starshine when I read it! I'm so so pleased that you took such a liking to my fic and it's such an honor and so lovely to hear that it's one of your favorites, you have no idea how encouraging that is and how long that sticks with a writer, no matter how big or how small their following, we come back to comments like these on good days and bad ones and just remember that somewhere out there there's someone who took a chance on a fic they were skeptical of and now it's one of their favorites and a treasured memory and if that's not motivation to keep writing - what is? I'll definitely pass on your comments about the cover too!! I'm lucky to have such a talented friend in the Undertale artist community haha she's just so good! And you're right, having that image of Iris definitely helps when having a named reader since it's a little out of the ordinary for a second-person perspective story! P.S. “Why are you asking me if Saffy can babysit?” says Joël. “Why don’t you ask Saffy?”

“I just couldn’t remember if she was busy tonight, that’s all,” says Anita. “I know Jared’s going to the movies, but I couldn’t recall Saffy saying she had any plans. And I didn’t want her jumping down my throat in case she’d told me and I’d forgotten. You know how she gets.”

“I doubt she’s going anywhere. She’s probably going to be studying all weekend because of that big exam she’s got on Monday,” says Joël. Anita looks at him blankly.

“Are you serious? You forgot she had a major exam on Monday?” says Joël.

“I’ve been surviving on three to four hours of sleep a night since the baby was born,” says Anita. “Give me a break, darling. My brain’s wrapped in fog half the time.”

Alice giggles.

“It’s not funny, Bubby!” Anita coos, hoisting her into the air. “Look what you’ve done to us! Daddy’s lost his six pack and Mummy’s got dementia! Naughty Bubby!”

“Bubby? Are you calling her that because you can’t remember her name?” teases Joël.

“Oh, that’s very funny. But shouldn’t you be saving your breath for doing some crunches or sit-ups or something?” says Anita sweetly.

“What are you trying to say? I thought you said before that you liked my Dad bod?” says Joël.

“I love your Dad bod, darling,” says Anita. “But I can’t speak for the regulars at The Grind, can I?”

Ah. And... yeah. A painful and unnecessary creative choice.

Look, overall I'm loving Picard, despite quite a few issues with some creative choices and contradictions, because this nostalgia is incredible and so appreciated and being able to witness these characters in action again has been WONDERFUL.

That being said... well, I'm about to launch into a ramble.

Buckle up, and keep reading if you'd like...

Picard had an ICONIC legacy female character in an interracial wlw relationship with a dynamic new Black female character -- both women over the age of 50 no less, an amazing thing to explore on screen -- and it worked. And so many fans loved it and felt represented and thrilled to kingdom come. And it fit with the Star Trek brand of inclusion and acceptance in a modern society. It also made Voyager fans of 25 years feel vindicated and seen, having Seven not only confirmed as sapphic, but actually exploring it on screen and finding love, even if a "happy ending" for Seven was never in the cards for many reasons, they could have explored why instead of just sweeping it under the rug off screen and reducing it to one awkward glance between them, a joke from Worf, and that was it. Seven and Raffi deserved better. Queer fans deserved better.

Alas, they tossed it in the trash for no valid reason at all, and at the worst possible time in our current social and political landscape of an outdated and frighteningly dangerous resurgence of homophobia, transphobia, etc. Life imitates art, and art imitates life. And thus, now we see conservative-run media companies catering again to the vocal, hateful little groups and extremist far right fear mongers. There is a very obvious bias of late again against LGBTQ content (especially wlw due to the frightening rise in misogyny yet again lately) across nearly every channel and streamer and studio.

For that matter, even beyond LGBTQ stories, there's also a significant reduction in the exploration of ANY sexuality on screen across the board lately, even for cishet couples. We somehow went from Hollywood being absurdly and unfairly exploitive towards women and putting actors in uncomfortable and unnecessary situations, to some sort of bizarre, puritanical, utterly sexless exploration of romance on screen. And even a reduction of romance entirely in many cases, for that matter. We went from one extreme to the other, and it's absolutely nuts.

Anyway, back on the topic of Picard, the two actresses who previously were captains of the ship and ALL about the pairing have since seemingly now had to backtrack, make excuses for this bizarre decision, or just not speak on it at all. And that's beyond sad.

And again, it makes me concerned that if Seven does get her own spin-off or is a part of a new spin-off again, they'd likely not include Raffi nor explore Seven being with women further. Which would just be LITERALLY going backwards in time to the days of Voyager where many (not all) straight male fans tried to claim her as theirs and theirs alone while reducing her to just "the hot Borg in a cat suit" even though everyone else knew she was three dimensional as hell, one of the best written and acted characters in franchise history, and inherently representative of the LGBTQ community.

Anyway, I really really hope they prove me wrong and Saffi get a satisfying ending in this show, and if nothing else, even if they don't have a future together in other series, any other shows at least continue to embrace Seven's pansexuality. It's important.

Alas right now my trust in creatives in the TV space who are under the pressures of conservative-run media conglomerates... is limited. Even once seeming allies are showing sides to themselves lately that are... concerning, to say the least. People who previously would tell incels to F' off, and weren't afraid to stand up to and block phobes on Twitter are now blocking queer fans for just asking "WTF?" about queer favorites being sidelined or ships being tossed in the trash. People who previously seemed to truly see and value queer fans are now bordering on just using them for clicks and stringing them along on likely hopeless efforts regarding show survival. And people who actually do mean well and usually stand up loud and strong for LGBTQ audiences are suddenly growing very, very quiet if not even in some cases TURNING on their queer fans entirely as TPTB remove more and more wlw content from airwaves and streamer services.

It's all very disheartening. As a writer who has had this conversation so often with producers and executives, I GET IT. The fight is NOT an easy one. And most the time inclusion efforts are flat out shot down. But it feels like so few people are walking the talk anymore. People who capitalized heavily on LGBTQ characters and ships and fans for a few years when it was hot are now turning their backs when the going has gotten rough. And that's frustrating for us all.

But, the good news: these things are often cyclical. So if everybody can hang in there, stay strong, and fight the good fight online and IRL, rock the VOTE, etc and drown out the hateful voices that want the LGBTQ community silenced or worse, then I believe we can set (or force, in many cases) the misguided, fearful, extremist-rightwing-catering media companies back to the proper side of history.

No one has the authority to tell writers what they can and should not write, let alone send hate because they didn’t adhere to your own personal morality.

Let’s be honest, none of the fanfics you’ve seen are gaining us any money. We do this because we have fun writing.

Remember, you are responsible for your own media consumption.

For your sake, I hope you’re not an adult, because then I can chalk it up to ✨immaturity✨. No rational adult should still be acting this way. And if you do happen to be a minor, Red’s blog is clearly 18+.

Father Mango is next on my to-draw list - I HAD to stop imagining him as Father Gregor from Spooky Month because it was getting ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous, his head is going to be a literal mango. That's so much better, isn't it!!

MISS SAFFRON - For the one that has a design for this episode, here's Saffie!! I'm not super proud of the drawing but I did like how her pose and design turned out lol. She's a... sheep?? Adorable evil dumbass of course, she seems to be one of the better-loved designs so yaayaaaay!! <3 She's never not seen without a giant grin and despite her issues is actually kind of nice to Logico sometimes??

Logico gets some old man murder news on a secluded island. He wants to defy his boss's orders, but is too curious about such an exotic locale, that he HAS to go. He goes there and meets Signor Emerald, Father Mango, and Miss Saffron. There’s a man body in the water being eaten by tiny sharks which is so appetizing.

Listen, ds9 is my favorite, but it's fucking stupid to act like the Defiant, even as Starfleet's first warship and first ship with a cloaking device, would be more famous than the ship that charted the Delta Quadrant

Even leaving the Defiant out of it, it's stupid to pretend that a ship buff wouldn't know Voyager

And speaking of Voyager, Jack's little line about how we're all stars in the same galaxy but lightyears a part reminds me much more of Janeway's space literally means nothing, the gap between planets, but it at the same time is the thing that binds us all together speech than any of Picard's speeches. Not that I'm trying to draw a parallel between Jack and Janeway, but the throughline with him and Picard really isn't there if he's reminding more of a totally unrelated character

I see something that I have to speak up about.

I am someone who loves found family plots and character bonds. I am someone who has found and extra family.

That is one of the reasons I love TNG . Because they are a found family. Even Riker says so directly this season and while there is Jack, there is also Ro Laren who showed me this season that she was Picard’s daughter.

So no, I did not like the character vibe mix in season 1 and 2 of Picard as much as the one in season 3. But that does not mean Trek or Trek viewers or even the script put biology over connections this season.

And while I love Laris as a character, I did not think she had great onscreen romantic chemistry with Jean Luc from what I’ve seen. ( Though I love reading triad fic about the three) I would have rather P/L just stayed awesome friends in canon. I think that good chemistry really matters. I also think choosing your soulmate over a newer relationship is a valid choice. And doesn’t mean you’re stuck in a rut, it means you have a connection with someone that will always be stronger than anything else. That’s real life and it’s also nice for long time viewers of the first paring. Please don’t take issue with us enjoying true love perhaps prevailing when the world is so crappy. It’s not bad writing, it just means something long term somewhat paid off in the end. And not even fully.

I do think there should have been a line about Jean Luc and Laris having different needs going forward. That should have been there. For respect to Laris But we are not crappy fans or watching crappy TV because we finally halfway got something that mattered to us.

I have been critical of Picard where I find it warranted, and I am annoyed that Saffi was backtracked . I find that gross. And unfair and without reason. But I also find it annoying that P/C wasn’t even completely paid off when P/C shippers are still being told we like crappy TV and didn’t respect Laris because we prefer P/C.

Pairing: Adam x reader TLDR: Adam finds you with a guitar, and some bonding ensues. Also, size difference.

The weird Angel plays with your horns.

His fingers trace around the base and straight up to the tip, stroking it like a vagina. The other hand pats your hair like you were a dog. Quite the weird Angel, indeed.

Yet, here you are enjoying the soft touches of this Angel, leaning into his hold as you allow this to happen. Guess you’re quite the weird Sinner as well.

You strum a short sequence of chords with the guitar.

“Oh, SHIT!” The angel stops mid-pat, staring straight into you, and grips the base of your horn. (It’s quite nice, actually.) “I didn’t know Sinner knew how to play the guitar.”

“Baby . . . there are millions of us down here,” you say, and strike another chord. “We can have hobbies besides murder, drugs, or porn. Some of us can appreciate such a classic instrument.”

“Ugh, finally!” he says. “Someone who fucking gets it! It’s always, ‘Your guitar is too loud, Adam’ or ‘That’s too loud, Ad—”

“Holy shit!” you say, wheezing so loud it echoes into the air. “Baby, your name is, ‘Adam’?”

“The only holy shit here is mine.” Adam puffs out his chest like some proud bird. “Sugartits, I am the Adam.”

“There’s nothing sweet about me, baby.” You adjust the straps across the guitar. “But if we’re talking about racks, you’ve got quite the pair there, manboobs.”

Adam brings out his fist for you. “Fuck, yeah!”

“Fuck, yeah,” you echo back, and bump his fist in return, flashing him your sharp, toothy, grin.

“So, do you actually know how to play that thing besides a few chords?” Adam props and elbow above your head, leaning on you with his full height. “For your sake, I hope that thing isn’t just for decoration.”

You look up, searching his eyes – it’s just a helmet. “Are you asking me to play for my life?”

He leans even deeper into you, his fingers playing with your horn. “If that’s what you want to call it.”

“Watch this,” you say, pointing at where an Angel is chasing a Sinner. “Don’t look to far though, keep your eyes on me and only me, baby.”

The pads of your fingers hover above the strings. As soon as the Angel takes a step, you strike a chord. The sound intensifies at the Angel closes the distance to the Sinner. Her sword goes up in the air. The higher the sword, the higher the intensity of your playing. The moment her sword swings down the Sinner’s neck, so does your finger across the strings.

Adam lets out a hearty laugh, grabbing your horns as he rocks you side to side. It’s a little soothing to be grabbed by the horn, and rocked this way.

Adam snaps his fingers, and the most beautiful guitar appears on his hand. “My turn!”

An impressive riff of chords echo across the building. Adam creates background music for the Sinner getting killed. You take your guitar, and play alongside to create a harmony of notes.

Once the Sinner dies, so does the music.

You grab Adam’s hand, and press your own across it to compare the size. His fingers were so much longer than your own. Yet, despite the size difference, the same type of callouses decorate your fingers.

“You’re quite the player,” Adam says, leaning down to meet your eyes. “I bet it must suck to have such tiny fingers! You have trouble—”

“Yes, I have trouble reaching some of the chord,” you say, rolling your eyes. “But you’ve got quite the talent there. An interesting sense of humor as well.”

Adam laughs, and places both palms on your head, propping his chin right above your head. He’s so tall that he has to bend his back to reach you. “I’m going pull a muscle from bending this low.”

The sounds of slaughtering rise to the air. Still, you place your fingers above the strings until you’re in the position of the D chord. It goes from there to C to G. It’s just those three chord over and over and over again for a few seconds.

“She’s got a smile . . . seems to me.” You hum out a song, swaying along as Adam rocks side-to-side. “ . . . childhood memories . . .everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky.”

“Sky!” Adam echoes along.

You snort a little but mumble the lyrics every once in a while. Adam also hums along, starting at the Sinners being killed, weirdly silent. Something inside tells you there’s an inner storm going through his mind as he watches yet another Sinner die.

“Your guitar looks like shit.” Adam blows a raspberry.

“Baby, I did not just hear you say that!” You roll your eyes at him, making sure Adam sees how you do so. “This is a classic Taylor. I paid great money to get this down here.”

“It’s got scuffs.”

“It’s second-hand.”

Adam snatches your guitar, and before you’re about to protest, his guitar hovers above and lands straight into your arms. You try not to buckle from the weight. Holy hell, his guitar was half your weight.

The color brightens when Adam runs his fingers through the guitar, and the scuffs slowly disappears to make it look just like a brand-new instrument.

Adam’s guitar is light despite its size. It really is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. The colors blend together to make the whole thing look holy. There’s something about it that makes you feel unworthy, as if you shouldn’t even be holding it.

Adam returns the guitar to you, an expectant smile flashing across his helmet. “Well, how does it look?” he says. “Don’t be shy, come on, tell me.”

You run your hand across the guitar. It’s . . . so clean. You’ve never been able to hold such a beautiful guitar. “Aren’t you supposed to kill me?”

A loud trumpet sounds across the city, and a portal opens in the far distance. Hordes of Angel fly straight into the portal where the gates of Heaven are just out of reach.

“Maybe, next year.” Adam pinches your cheeks, leaning down to flash a smile.

“Yeah, sure.” You flash your set of sharp teeth into a smile. “I’ll hold you to that, baby.”
