i think I should make some video essays. I don't expect them to skyrocket in popularity or anything but I am passionate about the topics at the root of them all and I wanna talk about em.
They will be about animal welfare and how humans should treat them... primarily basing it in factual information I (and possibly whoever I hire/volunteers to help, though I doubt these will get me enough to warrant that) manage to get from reputable sources and also in generally having compassion for the other living things we share this planet with.
The first will be about dogs, their historical jobs, and why the breed(s) of your dog should inform what dog you get based on more than just temperament.
The second will be about cats and their stigmas, poor treatment, and abuse by the world - effectively debunking a lot of the reasons people dislike cats and explaining why they are such particular creatures who clash with as many as they do.
The third will be about livestock animals and how a lot of portrayals of them and their care get things so wrong - I will possibly divide it into parts if there's enough details to go into on individual or groups of animals beyond just the broad issues.
The fourth will be about unethical breeds in all species with breeds - pet animals AND livestock, because they get fucked over too.
the fifth, which may not happen, would be about tamed animals like small rodents (hamsters and the like) and lizards, as well as fully wild animals that people have had to tame for ethical purposes. (ie: raccoons raised by humans bc the other option was them dying in the wild, and wild cats brought up in captivity. basically otherwise wild animals who wouldn't be safe to release)
the sixth, which also may not happen, would cover strictly wild animals - and go into why we need to start leaving them the hell alone aside from keeping the ones that can stay wild in the wild. forever. because they deserve homes and respect like we do.
in video five I may go over why it feels wrong to leave an animal too disabled for the wild to die - particularly as a disabled person myself, but also as a person with the capability to see that disabilities shouldn't have to cause the death of anything (if they're not necessarily terminal by nature, but even creatures with terminal illnesses/disabilities deserve respect, love, safety, and comfort). it will primarily be about why sometimes an animal cannot be safely put back in the wild, though - cover situations like a wild cat who was mistaken for a domestic cat at a very young age, leading to it being unfit for the wild, or, more importantly, situations where the animal has too many disadvantages in general and would die in the wild. it will also talk about how we cant and shouldn't save every animal, but if there's one or two a wildlife expert/handler can help, why not let them. talk about what good having tamed animals around does for education about wild animals, etc etc. but I may save the non pet tame animals for video six altogether, or make it 7 parts, as tamed pets like lizards and hamsters etc may wind up being a big enough topic for a solo video.
reblog or interact in general with any ideas, I wanna hear what people think about this!

Reddit users will be like "No more human! Return to monke!" and then show a video of a primate being kept as a pet and forced to do human behaviors for entertainment

why is it so much worse knowing how many people out there want me (& everyone in this body) dead cause we don't feel empathy than knowing about the ones who want the same cause we're trans
#i mean i guess it's cause we live in a bubble where most people we know are trans#n the whole 'empathy makes us human' thing is a rly popular opinion in the more progressive circles#i guess it's. just another item in the long list of traits that might make us subhuman to others#we don't even have it as bad as people w/ like aspd n stuff. it's a lot easier to hide for us#usually will come off as social awkwardness instead#but every time there's a video going around the mainstream sm where someone w/ low/no empathy talks about how their mind works#the majority of the comments are just so. dehumanizing. like we're some rabid animals that need to be put down for public safety#n i guess causw it's so inherently linked to whatever it is about our wiring that makes us so. different from almost everyone else.#why we can't seem to connect w/ people n why we feel so fucking isolated all the time#like we just came out wrong n there's no fixing it#& the way we've lately come to understand more how much dmg our mother prevented w/ her parenting#but also how much of it that stuck coulda been prevented if she'd had the tools & safe environment#i don't even mean like. the trauma shit. but the things that needed to be noticed n steered into a different direction when we were small#instead of us wreaking havoc up to our late teens when we finally connected some dots that most people have connected from birth#though i think most of the usual ways of correcting it are more or less abusive. there's ones that aren't but idk how accessible that info#woulda been 20+ years ago#anyway it just really sucks how our fb feed tries to give us some light informative vids on people w/ similar experiences in some areas#n the comments are 80% ppl throwing around diagnoses they don't understand#n holding us responsible for everything their shitty abusive ex/parent/boss did#n literally sayin shit like 'people like this are better off dead'#not very good for my mental health#even though i don't give much more value to those people than they put on ones like me#spdrvent

hbggg wanna write America and Australia asking old ppl (Scotland and prussia, china maybe) about the first high explosives which ends in them making fulminating gold and silver in scotlands garage, they get out the aqua reigis it's a fucking blast (ba dum tss).
But I don't have the chemistry knowledge
#Rather I do have the chemistry knowledge I just dont know how to convey it without sounding like a paper#pls send help I hate having science brainrot#The heam speaks#For context culminating silver is incredibly reactive. If you touch it with a lighted splint even if its wet it'll just fukin detonate on#Jack would love watching Gilbert and Alisdair argue about how to make fulminating silver and Alfred would be taking notes bc he wants#Imagine your uncle and some other crusty dude yelling at each other about how not to handle high explosives. Then it detonated#Everyone knows mercury fulminate they probably wouldn't go through that#WAIT THOSE 4 WOULD HAVE A SCIENCE CHANNEL#Alfred would go on 2 hour long explanations about astrophysics#And with Gilbert and alisdair they could easily talk for hours on shitty video quality about machines and their mechanisms and their histor#Gilbert and alisdair would have a whole series “What not to do with chemistry” basically making a lot of explosives#And things of questionable legal standing. Like carbon tetra chloride because we know alisdair doesn't throw shit out and probably has some#Organo-phosphates and other highly dangerous chemicals and compounds banned in the 60s to 90s in his shed#Alfred just casually talks about nuclear reactions.#Jack and guest appearances of zee would be examining animal and human biology in a sory of crack head way that people love.#He has a pretty large base of people who watch his videos. Short and quick forward but genuinely educational#While people like me are going to watch Alfred go on for hours about isotopes and allo tropes and isomers fission fusion the whole lot.#Alisdair and Gilbert's velideos constantly toe the line of legality. There is a lot if swearing and questionable health and safety

“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” Absolutely. But is the fire wild and destructive; or safely contained and being used for something?
“Being into dark and disturbing media is a red flag.” I can’t disagree with that. Most people who are okay with committing crimes in real life are okay with viewing disturbing things for entertainment; however, many good (or neutral) people are okay with things in fiction that they wouldn’t be okay with in real life. If you don’t know someone at all — who they are, or what they do — you cannot judge their motivations for liking or disliking something. But absolutely exercise caution online when dealing with any group of people.
Some online communities may be so rife with actual illegal activity that it is best to stay away from them, despite much of the content within them being legal and — for the most part — morally neutral. As a result, the illegal activity may fly under the radar and be allowed to remain on the internet. In these cases, it is your responsibility to report the community to higher authorities, as people and/or animals will be adversely effected if you do nothing.
If you are comfortable pursuing the issue, do not block the content before you’re done reporting it, as you may need to try several times before someone does anything about it. You don’t want to cut off your access to evidence that can be used against a harmful group.
Do not leave comments or engage with the individuals within the harmful community in any way, shape, or form. You may want to tell them “go to hell you fucking degenerates,” and I understand how you might feel that’s the right thing to do… However! This is the kind of behavior that will get you blocked and banned; thereby cutting you off from any plans of reporting illegal activity after they’ve seen your comment. If you have no access to the content; you cannot report it. The best thing to do is go in silently.
Do not report — or even look at — any artwork or fiction; hurting and embarrassing yourself is all that will accomplish. If there is nothing “blatantly illegal” (such as photos or videos of illegal activity), look for other evidence of the members engaging in actual illegal activity (such as requesting photos or video of illegal activity, or confessing to crimes they’ve committed for others’ gratification), and report these instead, since that is precisely the conduct you are trying to prevent. You cannot put out a fire by waving away the smoke; you must get rid of the fire itself, which is causing the smoke.
But remember: not all smoke is caused by the same type of fire. Some can be from a stove left unattended; other types can be from a fireplace. You can’t call a fireman to put out your neighbor’s fireplace just because you don’t like seeing smoke come out their chimney.
(If you tag this with ANY term followed by a word meaning “wanting two characters to kiss,” or potentially, “large boat,” I will throw a rock at you. This is about how to properly report content in a way that doesn’t waste moderators’ (or the FBI’s) time; because my belief system is practical and action-based rather than philosophical. Thanks.)
