Why I think Shiguang can be canonically read as romantic

(I will only be using the donghua for reference, so no Studio Lan retweeting those fanarts (lmao) nor those especially gay manhwa panels (lmao x2) nor even the songs ("chase you to the end of the world, just to say your name once more" my beloved).

It's important to start off by saying that I'm aware Director Li said they ended up not making Lu Guang a girl because they didn't want romance to be seen as a must in Shiguang's relationship by the audience (and because he feels that "bros can have a good heart-to-heart connection with each other"). In my opinion that was a great move since it allows more freedom with how they write them than they'd have otherwise. I also think viewing Shiguang as queerplatonic is a great read too and it doesn't diminish their love for each other nor the importance of their relationship at all.

With that said, despite Director Li's words, there's been things that had me going 🤨 as someone who likes to adhere to canon relationships and read into the writer's intentions, so I wanted to share why I personally see them as romantic.

EPISODE 2

We've all seen this coming, right? Most obvious parallel ever, and in the second episode no less. We all know the similarities between both relationships, so I will just touch on those I consider the most important ones.

Lin Zhen and Yu Xia have gone to college together, and since then decided to start a business of their own - named after a mix of their names. They've been shown as being really close and having no romantic relationships. Lin Zhen also says that Yu Xia's happiness is her own, and then it's shown to us that she's gone through years of unhappiness just for Yu Xia. I believe you can replace their names with Lu Guang's and Cheng Xiaoshi's in your head without me writing all this again. And I'm not even going to get into the most obvious parallels like the special noodle recipe for each pair.

I think it's safe to say that Lin Zhen and Yu Xia are implied to be romantic. From that "one noodle" scene, to the close shot of Lin Zhen grabbing her hand, etc.

Now, I want to get into a writer's point of view and pose two questions:

1. What's the purpose of this episode, when even those which seem episodic connect to the overarching plot of season 1 (even the missing kid's case, as it leads to the involvement with the police)?

2. If we answer the previous question with the conclusion that it's meant to show us the nature/development of Cheng Xiaoshi's and Lu Guang's relationship, what does that say about it?

"Partner" in Link Click

Continuing with episode 2, what really got me thinking about the romantic intentions in their writing was the constant mention of marriage and anything in relation to it.

(may I remind everyone that the driver's comment was said when Cheng Xiaoshi was complaining about Lu Guang lmao)

They're telling us through "show don't tell" (for example, when Lin Zhen kept on eating the noodle despite knowing they'd kiss) and, also, connotations. They are presented to us as business partners, but then the entire episode goes on to tell us that there's more to them by tying their relationship to things percived as romantic. So what they want to really tell us is that beyond simple business partners, they're life-long partners.

And then, after establishing this kind of connotation to the word partner, Cheng Xiaoshi says this to Lu Guang in the next episode:

This doesn't stop at them. While it's the most obvious example, I think partnership in Link Click is intended to be seen as romantic, or at the very least dancing somewhere close to it. Let's go even further and take a look at our fully canon, heterosexual relationships and see briefly how their story is written:

1. Dong Yi and Xu Shanshan: both of them chose the comfort of each other's presence over moving on with their respective futures. Dong Yi had so much faith in their relationship and their love that he couldn't choose a life/future that didn't have Xu Shanshan - choosing to not go back to his family home nor go to that interview, and instead waiting for Xu Shanshan to define their relationship.

2. Liu Siwen and Ouyang: Siwen spent his entire life training with the purpose of getting his father-in-law's respect and marry Ouyang, going every year over and over to fight him. His perseverance and his undying love for her allowed Siwen to do the (seemingly) impossible.

3. Chen Bin and his wife: they're a tragedy. His wife understood Chen Bin the best, enduring feeling lonely because she loved him and wanted a future with him. But their relationship was cut short, so they promised each other to be together in a future life to make up for the time they wouldn't be in this one.

With this + the pictures I attached, it seems like Link Click has set this theme of "love is a life with you" for its romantic relationships, a partner that will fight to stay because they can't see a future that doesn't have their beloved. Going back to episode two, this applies even to the noodle ladies. When Yu Xia remembered what actually matters to her, she went back home - to the start, to her hometown. And, most importantly, to Lin Zhen.

So why is Shiguang romantic? Why aren't they queerplatonic, or just best friends, or bros or whatever else? Because besides what I said at the start of the previous paragraph, Shiguang's relationship mirrors a lot of the romantic ones. Each story and author writes romance and other kinds of relationships differently, portraying them in the way they perceive "this is what this kind of love is like". And beyond life-long partners, I think that the key elements of romantic relationships in Link Click are the ones I highlighted in bold above in the 3 canon relationships part - which Shiguang shares, too.

(I didn't mention this before with the het couples, but I find it a little amusing that season 2 happened because a man wanted to go to the past and get his wife back (still fuck you Qian Jin) and then we find out Lu Guang did go back to the past and got his boyfriend partner back lmao).

"Friend" vs "Partner"

So where is the boundary between platonic and romantic? What marks the difference between a (best) friend and a partner?

There is, for example, Liu Xiao and Li Tianchen's relationship. They aren't shown to have any kind of romantic undertones and there's even the very real possibility of manipulation on Liu Xiao's side. They're also never labeled as nor call each other partners, but instead Li Tianchen says he "met a new friend" and Liu Xiao says he's "going to meet an old friend" years later. So we could say for now that they have a somewhat close relationship (we see Li Tianchen go against Qian Jin to give the phone to Liu Xiao), but never cross that "friend" label.

We can even bring Qiao Ling and the boys' relationship. She's never labeled as a partner despite taking part in the side job and, more importantly, being super close to both of them. She is very important and a cherished friend to Shiguang, so why not call her partner too? I think it's intentional. Since she's been given a familial role already (calling Cheng Xiaoshi her brother when talking to Li Tianxi), she can't fill a partner role. I wonder why? because it's supposed to be a synonym for a romantic relationship. who said that.

So even best friends (Qiao Ling, arguably what Liu Xiao is to Li Tianchen) don't enter this close space that is being a partner. It's different, it's beyond platonic. Or at least that's what they've been showing us for the past two seasons.

I could go soo much more into this honestly, because I do think the little hints thrown here (the music videos) and there (tiny seemingly inconsequential details) are worth to be looked at too, but I wanted to get into the core reason that makes me go "woah so they're In Love fr". I hope I expressed myself well ^^

tldr; the series shows us a divide between having a (best) friend and a partner, giving "partners" romantic connotations.

PAIRING: 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 x reader (gender not mentioned/specified/implied) TW. manipulation, isolation, holding reader against her will, stockholm syndrome, dark yandere, flag so red my eyes hurts, unhinge, yandere behavior. A/N: Inspired by manhwas I've read so far. I'm on a roll guys. I didn't expect it to be this long too but man, he's one crazy creation.

𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭

Who isolates you to the point of insanity. It is widely known humans are social creatures and we need social interactions. However, 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 used this fact to his advantage. Knowing that after a while people go mad when they don’t interact with other people, he decided to do just that. At first his manipulation is subtle: hidden suggestions about who is right to hand with and who's not. Little yet meaningful words weaved between innocent sentences. Then when he saw his tactics working, he began to get bolder. As the group of people becomes smaller (thanks to him) 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 starts to outwardly say they aren't people you should associate with. They are a bad influence and did you know they said this and that behind your back? Real friends don’t do that! He doesn’t do that! That's when comments about how you don't need anyone but him, who always stays by your side and was right about what he told you, each and every time. Your family isn't safe from his doings either. He never fails to drive you away from them. Suddenly they are people who lead you on and make a fool out of you. A black sheep of the family. You just had to see! Before you know it, you are completely alone with only him to talk and listen to.

"I'm just looking out for you like a best friend should be doing." 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 wanted to vomit when he said those two, blasted words.

Who snaps and ends up locking you up. Now that you're completed isolated and you happen to start living with him, he locks you up. In a bedroom with a bathroom attached who only has necessities and nothing you could harm yourself with. You can bang, scratch and kick at the door all you want but those doors won't budge. 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 is fully prepared. Those doors were expensive but it was worth it. Those locks could be opened by him and the material it was made of could not be so easily destroyed without certain tools you didn’t have. And you're yelling, begging and crying? It is like music to his ears. He'll often sit at the door and listen to you, basking in your voice, and when you're quiet (either pass out from exhaustion or too tired to continue), he'll pick up from where he ended the last time, manipulating you again. His sentences are repetitive and he wants to drill those into your head. He'll tell you how no one is looking for you, how he's all you need, how he'll take care of you and so on...

"Those people want to hurt you. I am doing this for your own good. If you want, I can bring you something? I was thinkng about tamagochi! They are so cut, aren't they?"

Who has to show you some tough love. 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 didn’t expect you to realize just how much he loves you. That’s why he tried to be an understanding partner and be forgiving towards your rash and childish tantrums. But he has his limits too. For example, he notices how you don't eat meals he oh so lovingly has prepared for you. If you don’t want to eat, then he won’t force you. He just doesn't bring you food for the next 2-3 days. Only water. And on the fourth day, he'll bring you a proper meal again. Of course, like he expected, you ate it all. See? It’s not hard to act your age. You don’t see it but 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 smiled in glee when he saw an empty plate. It's a good sign!

Who you grow to not only fear and love. He is your captor, the one who took away your freedom and cut all ties with society, who manipulates you and ends up breaking you. Your brain was suggesting that he is a caring best friend who takes care of you and protects you from all those monserts that want to hurt and bring you down. Soon enough his actions made your heart speed up.

Pondering Doors Again >.>

Thinking about a concept I saw in a Manhwa. "Dungeons feed of the death that occurs within them" and how the Protagonist went "alright, Bet. A stable and prosperous society for outcasts has a LOT of Death! What with the need to eat food and people growing old and thus, inevitably, at least SOMEONE dying every day".

Because FARMING is and always has been a slower but more profitable way to accumulate food then Hunting. More reliable too.

And? What better way too feed your hunger(HungryHungryHUNGRYItHurtSIMSO-) then by BECOMING a Trap Door? Not every ghost looks human. Not every ghost WANTS too.

Maybe you want to Live. Yes, you are fighting, fighting, fighting. Not even Death can take you. But given half a chance? Given the infinite freedom of the Zone and all of Time stretched out before you? Do you? WANT to think anymore? WANT to keep fighting FOREVER for every scrap of food to fill your endless NEED for food? Your obsession with being full?

You can stop.

Like meditation.

Instead of MAKING a Lair... become one. You could always change your mind, if you felt like it. Souls rarely if ever DO, but you COULD. Then? You wait.

There are house ghosts. Dwellings that die. You blend right in. Are you angry? Vengeful? Do you blame the world? Perhaps you'll call them in. Like Hansel and Gretel. Look upon my house made of candy, children. Isn't it tempting? Isn't it sweet? Come closer. Listen to my siren song.

Chomp.

But, maybe you are tired. Hungry. Old bones and cold, barren soil. Barely the strength to paint gaudy veneers over straining, decaying wood. Like long abandoned circuses. You try for the appearance of cheer, but your tattered visage. betrays you. Yet, just like them, while you may not be able to entice those you truely wish to come? Vermin find safety and comfort in your walls.

And is that not how nature heals? First the weeds? The insects and vermin? Little things that build to great forests over time? Blobs hide within in you. Safely out from underfoot. What do they care, if you can not provide them scenery? You are safe. And they? They feed you in turn.

Like little worker bees. Drifting out, gorging on ectoplasm, and returning. Nesting safely inside you, they radiate that Ectoplasm and leech it into the Lair around them. You feed. And Feed. And FEED.

You make more places to hide for them. Bushes. Trees. You only half remember them now, so the colors are off and the forms shakey at best. The blobs do not care. More flock to you in response. You grow stronger. Make more trees.

You finally, FINALLY attract a curious and skittish ghost. They linger by the entrance. Watching. Uncertain. They know traps and hunters hide out here. Who would leave a perfectly good Lair up for grabs? This is a trick. A nasty little trap. Right? It has to be! Their luck can not be this good.

But it is. Because bottom feeders find each other all the time. Lairs that have little to offer and Ghosts who couldn't possibly defend anything worth keeping. All the Zone is stronger then them, why not be weakling together?

And they always take the chance. Because hope is eternal.

Inching forward in a cautious float, ready to dash away, they eventually realize the Lair really IS up for grabs. It really CAN be theirs. Which of course... means they have to fix it up of course! They are THRILLED. Look at all this ROOM! Why, these trees are LOVELY. A good start! They just gotta tweak THIS and then THAT aaand... there we go! Oooh, now over THERE would be a great place for a- *excited muttering*

And a proper ghost? MUCH better at bringing in Ectoplasm then a blob. Then dive in and out, fetching plants to transplant, decorations, building supplies. They invite their friend to crash with them. Become roommates. Their roommate gets a partner. They meet someone. Eventually somebody has a kid. And so on and so on.

All the while, they are feeding their Lair. Do they know it's not a NORMAL Lair? Yeah. They aren't dumb. Blobs disappear sometimes, if no one leaves for too long. House ghosts don't do that (or so they're told). But? They aren't powerful ghosts. They are weak ones. They CAN'T defend one of the nice spots from jerks who want to take it.

But a Lair that can defend ITSELF? And doesn't seem to want to eat them? Meh. Whatever works, man.

And you know what happens? Eventually, you reach a sustainable mass tipping point. Enough ghosts, set up in houses and cabins and castles and caves. All within a single Trap Lair. That they radiate enough ectoplasm to sustain the Lair itself. Enough that it can FINALLY pull the infamous and legendary "never leave" trick.

What is that trick?

Simple! You are a ghost. You'd kinda like an apple. You get up to leave you Lair to go get one. Oh, hey, an apple tree! That's new. Oh, these are really good! You sit back down. You never leave. Why would you leave? You are happy and have everything here. Your friends and family are here. Have another cake. Sit back down.

That is the trick.

The Trap of the sort of Trap Door.

They are known as Honey Traps. Heaven's Gates. Dream Doors. And they build slow to become quite dangerous. Entire cities exsist inside them. Ghosts go in and never come out. The take the energy you produce, small kernel that it is, and feed it back to you. And Ghosts? Efficient generators that they are, produce far more then they are given. Little into more. Little into greater. Building and building.

Until it has the strength to weave dreams.

Trap and entice. Blind and numb you. Bread and circuses for the masses, pay no attention to the bars that keep you here. You LOVE the comfort of your cage! You can leave whenever you want! You just never want too.

The Lair makes certain of that.

If anything’s bothering you he makes it his personal mission to fix the problem

Not me picturing giant buff murderous mc who only has two modes when dealing with people who aren’t their people

1). Hiding the rage behind a playful smirk

2). Basically feral, teeth bared, snarling (extra scary because of that shifter magic)

V confident, v dominant and cheeky when they’re bothering to play along.

Romancing Enid and watching everyone be confused about that dynamic (very cold tiny woman being waited on hand and foot rather zealously by a blood soaked rumor turned sunbeam in her presence) xand having no understanding for the fact that, while mc has a preference for being in control, that doesn’t include with her because they’d literally do anything for her, go limp for her, let her do as she wished. They love her for her strength, and knowing what she’s been through, knowing that they get to spend the rest of their life replacing that brutality with the softest of touch, the gentlest of love is greatest gift they could ever receive (after of course, working through the issue of believing that to touch Enid with such blood soaked hands would be the most heinous, sacrilegious act they could perform).

They’d spend the rest of their life baring their throat for her knowing the only thing she’d let kiss that ragged scar is her own lips, there would be no threat of cold steel.

They would be safe in her hands.

The only time Enid will ever see that ruthless side of them would be in her and their family’s defense.

It’s the second easiest promise they ever make.

You know, ironically, that's a pretty good way to romance Enid.

Of course, there's still room for other forms of love - it's just that Enid's route is what I would say the harshest one out of the available routes because of how...hostile she is. She's independent and won't back down just because you tell her to.

The fact your MC is like this - honestly, I imagine it as a very sweet love here, especially given how accurate it portrays MCs who are harsh on others but very gentle with Enid.

Honestly, this pairing reminds me of a manhwa (How to Prey on Your Master - I know, the title's not a great start 🤣) cuz of how it's Icy A x Crazy to everyone but partner B. Everyone being confused of your MC's sudden 180 shift in behaviour would be an understatement. 🤣

Co-Co-Colorado.

Positive thing: I made it safely to Colorado and met up with my partner, and began reading No Home.

It's been a very fun day! I slept most of the plane ride and car ride over, but it was nice to get settled and reunited with my partner. And the food has been all free so far. Hell yeah.

In between waiting for stuff I've been reading this manhwa called No Home, and I adore it so far. It's a pretty heavy story but the characters are all so compelling and feel real in a way I've rarely seen before. I'm about halfway through already so I'll probably have more thoughts about it when I'm done.

Also random, but Colorado is fascinating. It's so big feeling without all the trees around like in Florida. And so cold... but honestly not as bad as I thought. I haven't really felt any altitude sickness symptoms either. The sky feels enormous with so much empty space around.

I do realize how spoiled I am living in a big city. We're an hour away from the capital, which is the biggest city around it seems, and it feels a bit limited. I'm used to having a plethora of cafes and restaurants and arcades and malls to just peruse whenever I feel like it, but here there's hardly any of that. I don't particularly mind but it is very humbling. I didn't notice how bougie my tastes had gotten living in easy access to all of that.

Anyway, I did successfully find a Korean restaurant I want to try so we're going there tomorrow. And luckily there's still boba places around too. And it's all free! Hehe.

because i'm waiting for my professor to be finished with his other students' thesis meeting, i'm going to elaborate more on this chihihaku tweet i made. and i am thirsty and hungry for any chihihaku thoughts.

to me, chihiro embodies that manhwa male lead vibes. his black hair, his red eyes (i read like 5 manhwas with this male lead); he's definitely the stoic male lead feared for his scary and dark aura but is actually caring and sweet to his spouse/partner.

now imagine hakuri getting isekai'd into the story as the brother of the female lead. the story is a reverse harem with the female lead being the main focus and her male love interests vyied for her attention and affection. but when usually the female lead of the story in usual villainesses stories turns out to be the bad person, after hakuri's isekai and became the female lead's brother, she is a very sweet and kind sister.

both hakuri and the sister are very close in relationship, different from hakuri's relationships with his older brothers and younger brothers, which made hakuri want to protect and make sure his new sister is safe from her love interests.

but imagine his shock when hakuri's and his sister's household recieved a proposal letter from the male lead, chihiro, with the intention to marry hakuri and not his sister.

hakuri is obviously flabbergasted. chihiro, the main male lead of the story, should've proposed to his sister??? why is it suddenly hakuri who got the letter???

hakuri looked over to his sister standing beside her, worried if she had suddenly resent him because he "stole her man." but in actuality, she was livid by the thought of this unknown man wanting to marry her brother!!

hakuri watched as his sister threw a fit at their parents, telling them to not agree with this, and to instead give chihiro's household a letter telling him to meet her so she could beat him up!

You know,my favourite trope of manhwas is good slowburn and enemies to lovers. Enemies to lovers,in my opinion,is the coolest because even though ml and fl fight in opposite sides,they respect each other and admire each others qualities. They may disagree with their partners opinions,but they promised one thing,they will do anything to make sure the other is happy.

Lady to knight:It's a good spin as both of them are enemies and at the same time admire their partners qualities. Even though fl didn't know she was fighting the wrong side,ml still admire her for her headstrong stubbornness and strategic attacks.

Eternal lies:The fl and ml were somehow compatible no matter(didn't read it yet but let's say,ml will do anything to make sure fl is safe in a good way)

My sweet enemy,they name is marriage:Fl went back in time to save her kingdom but the twist is,after fl got killed by her power hungry brother,ml decided to swore revenge on him in the name of the fl and it succeeded. The ml went back in time because he wants to be with the fl no matter what and truly loved her.

I actually read lady to knight before, not all of it and I did end up forgetting about it after I got tons of other recs but it's definitely one I need to pick back up because I remember it being pretty good

Do you have any theories on the Foreign God’s deal in Ennead?

I'm not sure what you mean by deal exactly? If you mean FG's contract with Maat, we know a bit about it.

In S02E49, FG states that he came to help Isis fight Seth because he heard that Egypt was a powerful nation. Maat explains this is not the case: the desert is the only thing keeping out foreign invaders. FG is intrigued by this, and considers the situation a "gold mine". Maat says, "You have your own destiny, don't you?" FG is aware of this, and surprised Maat is. Maat then offers to make FG, "the one who carries irrefutable fate, an offer. If you cancel your contract with Isis and retreat, I will guide you toward the path of your heart's desire." (S02E49). She says that FG has to go to the moon temple (Thoth's temple), and deliver a scroll she gives FG to the high priest there.

Maat notes that FG wants power and influence, and "wants to be recognized as a strong male through force." (S02E09). Maat promises "to tell him how to gain power", which is seemingly that offer she gives him (S02E09).

When Seth informs FG that the moon god is Thoth, FG gets distracted by the idea of Thoth being an attractive goddess. But getting back to the temple (with Seth in tow and safe from FG's rivals) is his primary goal.

Back in September 2023, Mojito (manhwa author) talked a bit about FG (the context being readers complaining about FG's existence in various ways).

Mojito said that FG was not originally allowed to intervene in Egypt's affairs. FG gets around this by pretending to be a part of the caravan, particularly so he can get closer to Seth. Mojito also notes that FG has done a lot for Seth. We know from the trial that he was at least in lust with Seth, and seemingly wanted to sleep with him or something. Assuming he's Greek or Roman, that kind of fits a lot of them: being led by their libido.

But if you mean like... generally what his goals are outside the contract...

As FG gets closer to Seth, he seemingly gets more curious about Seth as a person, or at least as a war god... but he still just really wants to fuck Seth (e.g., S02E48). Like that is the end goal, and most everything he does is in pursuit of that goal. He thinks of Seth as a sleeping buddy to be owned. Regardless of whether buying Seth as a slave was just a ploy given the circumstances (S02E77), FG truly thinks he can buy his way into Seth's affections or at least into keeping Seth as his forever.

FG is rich: he buys Seth, still has enough funds to start a war as he pleases, and seemingly runs an entire caravan of his own (S02E47-49).

Seth is also the apparently first "one" (conquest/partner, who knows) FG has gone to such lengths for (S02E46). What that means exactly when it comes to his motivations, whether he's just really horny or somewhat emotional about it, who knows? He seems to genuinely enjoy being around Seth and listening to Seth planning. I think he also enjoys how gullible Seth is when Seth is weak and truly out of his depth. He seems to find Seth generally intriguing. He does seem varyingly worried about Seth when Seth is injured. Whether this is because he genuinely cares for Seth on some level or doesn't like damage to his property, who knows? He's also territorial, and doesn't like Horus trying to make moves on Seth (S02E77).

FG is physically strong. The outcome of his battle with Anubis is unclear (other than both participants survived), but he didn't seem too badly injured. He hasn't been badly injured by just about any of Horus' attacks. Relatively speaking though, his opponents thus far have been two demigods and a new, brainwashed god, so it's hard to tell exactly how strong he is. His eyes, which are usually brown, turn gold at certain points, maybe when he's using his power. He most often shows his power when people stand up to him/potentially endanger something he cares about (e.g., Seth after FG buys him, Horus' bird spy, Anubis attacking Seth).

He seemingly wanted to take some of Isis' medicine back to his homeland for some reason (S02E46). Maybe to study it or use it on someone there.

He's playful and does a lot by not saying things or telling half-truths, but he can also just outright lie about things (e.g., when he explained why he didn't want Seth to go back to Heliopolis, because FG didn't want to be attacked for stealing the medicine). Despite his laid back personality, he's curious and also ambitious and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He's cocky, too, and has a low opinion of most of the gods he's met in Egypt (they're the same, so it's not abnormal).

He's relatively kinky. He likes biting, body worship, spanking, and teasing.

As for which god he is, I assume he's either Greek or Roman, given his god outfit and the ships his army came in on. I kind of bounce between Apollo or Ares (personality and ability-wise; Apollo is a god of medicine and a sun god, which matches his gold eyes, which Ra also has; Ares is a god of war, and that seems to match FG's outfit and ability set), but Zeus is an idea, too (when Isis uses lightning, FG is very interested in it, and Zeus is known to seek out conquests in disguise). And whichever of those he might be, all could change what his "destiny" is. If he's Apollo (or Ares), maybe he wants more power and influence back home. If he's Ares, maybe he needs more help winning a war. If he's Zeus, maybe he wants help beating the titans. It's really unclear.

Narratively speaking, he's one of the four designated tops for Seth in the story (alongside Horus, Osiris, and Anubis) based on Mojito's pillars story construction. He's not the designated endgame love interest, though (that's Horus). My assumption is we'll learn his name as he heads back to wherever he came from. He's also one of the main reasons Seth is trying to fix Egypt (e.g., he was a big part of Seth being able to destroy much of the caravan initially, and his presence as a potential enemy for Egypt is giving Seth a desire to return to his duties as god of war to protect Egypt), and I find that neat, because I like Seth having goals other than self-destruction, particularly given Seth isn't defining himself by Osiris in the doing. He's also a big reminder for Seth why going it alone isn't a good idea, because Seth currently lacks strength.

He's got a lot of facets to him. Right now, his primary goals are: fulfill his contract with Maat, potentially as it relates to his "destiny", whatever that is, and get more power to accomplish that destiny, and keep Seth as his own. He generally takes things as they come, though. So long as he gets Seth in the end, I don't think he cares about much else.
