These magnificent birds are the largest of the ‘hovering’ birds, they are fast birds reaching speeds of up to 50 Km/h.

Did you know the Kingfisher inspired the Japanese bullet trains?

These bullet trains are extremely fast and in the past they made a loud noise when exiting tunnels, so the engineers remodeled the face of the trains to be sharp and lengthy like the beak of a kingfisher bird. This helped prevent the sonic boom and save energy as the train was more aerodynamic.
