#saerys would be the first to die of old age

Hi, question regarding the life expectancy and aging system for each fantasy race/species in your world building setting? How long do they live each, including their maximum lifespan and when are they considered adults, middle aged, elders etc.? Also, love your work
I don't want to put strict numbers on the different lifespans since I usually keep changing it so take all this with a grain of salt, but in general:
Demons: Adult - 14. Average lifespan - 60 - 70 Demons rapidly grow, stay at a stable age, then rapidly decline again.
Humans: Adult - 18. Average lifespan - 70 - 100
Dwarves: Adult - 32. Average lifespan - 140 - 200 Dwarves age very consistently. Few to no growth spurts of ages of intense change.
Fairies: Adult - 50. Average lifespan - 300 - 400
Elves: Adult - 100. Average lifespan - 700 - 1000
Tumblr media
(excuse the excel table)
But essentially, Iseul's been in his early-mid twenties all Reiner's life while Solaire would have just become an adult when he was born. Saerys and the MC would appear about the same age as children, but he'd be an adult while she was still a teenager, etc.

Same anon who requested headcanons is MC being the WQ’s daughter. Maybe nothing older than mid teens? Sorry if that’s not specific enough...
Sure thing Anon!! Here you go! there is more in the read more!
General
The WQ sent her child at a very young age to Chicago. Not out motherly love, but as a backup in case she fell during battle. Very few people knew she had a child, so it was rather easy
In her eyes she’s nothing more than a pawn to use for later
MC was found abandoned with apparently no memory of her parents, as all she said was her mother was a queen.
She was raised in a foster family with a lot of foster siblings going in and out of the house. Due to the mass amount of kids, she learned to take care of herself.
Sophie is someone who lives nearby and becomes friendly with her, even with the age difference.
She was returning back from school when she was struck by lightning.
She’s around 10 years old
When she looks around in the Fantasy Realm, she realizes that this is like in her dreams that she’s had for years.
Obviously there is no romance.
August Falke
August just stares at this tiny girl that looks so much like the WQ it’s not even funny...but she’s a child.
She’s younger than Heloise for Gods’ sake!
She may be far too young to be the WQ, but there can’t be any denials of her sudden appearance in the village, nor can there be any denials of who she looks like. He takes her to the castle, but isn’t as angry or mean about it.
The first night, she just breaks down and starts crying. She tries to be as quiet as possible, because she doesn’t want to piss August off, because he’s already annoyed that she chose him to stick with. August’s shield breaks a little, because all he can see is one of his sisters crying. While he doesn’t relent, he does comfort her a little and that helps her get to sleep.
Alain kidnapping her sends him into big-brother-panic-mode. Like he wants to go after them right away, and barely stops himself. It’s really Reiner who makes him stop so they can make a plan. And when they do rescue her, he barely lets her go when they make their escape.
The second attempt pisses him the hell off. He starts her training on the sword for defense.
While she runs away after the Ice Crystal incident, she doesn’t actually start heading to the WQ castle. She’s actually snatched by some of the WQ soldiers. She has to play the part of the WQ, and states that she was cursed in a child’s body.
How she manages that, she has no idea. She’s sure that August and the others aren’t going to come for her. It plays out pretty similarly to what happens, though she does explain she never intended to go too far.
She’s honestly thrown when she meets August’s mother and sister. Asta becomes protective of her in an instant and treats her like one of her own children. It’s actually pretty overwhelming for MC, because while the foster home was alright...it wasn’t exactly the most caring of places.
She breaks down because of it.
When August takes her to the Falke Inn he almost considers leaving her there, but ultimately decides to take her to the capital.
She panics when she’s sent back to Chicago because she has no way of knowing how to get back. The first person she thinks to look for is Sophie, and she realizes the foster home didn’t even notice she was gone for a week. Sophie agrees to help her back
When she does, she works on getting August better
When WQ curses her, it stuns August and infuriates him. He knew the WQ was evil. It’s not a surprise. But the fact that she cursed her own daughter, a child to die a slow and painful death just flabbergasts him.
Returning her to Chicago, he initially wants to leave her there, until he sees how her foster family is, and decides he can’t do that to her.
He decides to take her as his squire
Saerys
He has mixed feelings about this girl.
Her mother destroyed his people, mass genocide. But in all likelihood she was an infant, or a young child at that point. For all he knows, she might not have even been in this world when WQ destroyed the demon race.
MC is really quiet around him for a long time. It’s not until Solaire corners him that he learns she’s quiet around him because she’s scared he hates her for what her mother did to his people.
She wouldn’t blame him if he did.
It takes a little while for him to come around to her, but he does get protective of her.
Turbo mode initially attacks her, but stops just before actually hurting her.
She still chases after him when he runs away, before she decides to go to WQ's castle to see if she can find some answers. And boy does she.
She’s stunned by the fact that her mother decided she would use her as a holder for her soul. She knew her mother didn’t love her...but still.
Saerys is not pleased when he learns of this.
It’s bad enough her crazed climb for power killed his race, but to use her own child in this just proves how mad she is.
They’re both protective of each other for different reasons. Saerys begins to train her in self-defense.
MC nearly dying cuts her mother’s connection to her. But there is no soul splitting.
Saerys becomes like a big brother to MC
The demon souls eventually see her as their youngling, which is kind of...weird...to Saerys and MC but as long as they don’t try to kill her Saerys puts up with it
Altea Bellerose
She’s stunned to see the girl. She’s so young. That means that she had to have been born at least right before all this madness had started or at the beginning.
It’s unsettling to her. She was young when she entered the war against WQ, but this is...this is wrong.
She does several non-invasive spells to see if this isn’t a trick to get Reiner’s guard down.
Afterwards, MC follows her around, confused but still trusting her.
She’s really curious about magic. Not like she can do it, but it’s still cool looking to watch. Altea smiles and doesn’t mind letting the girl watch.
She decides if the girl does develop magical abilities like her mother, she’ll teach her how to control them.
She’ll be more accepting than her parents were, that’s a fact.
Speaking of meeting her parents...it’s...a bit awkward. Because hoo boy, the parents automatically think the girl is somehow Altea’s biological daughter and the screaming gets really loud. MC’s confused, Altea’s embarrassed. It’s all in all...very awkward.
At least Lionel likes MC
Reiner Wolfson
To say he’s stunned when Altea brings the 10 year old girl into his study is an understatement. She looks absolutely terrified, but is trying to not fully panic.
It doesn’t take him long to basically adopt her, much to her surprise. The retainers aren’t as surprised, though some of them object a little due to the worry of this being a trick by WQ.
MC has a bit of difficulty getting used to him. It’s not like her foster father was exactly attentive. He had to work. So it throws her when Reiner actually asks her questions about herself and her interests.
Eventually she starts to let her guard down, still unsure what is going on, but finding that Reiner is actually pretty fatherly. Better than her foster father and probably better than her actual father.
Ryland is very much protective of her and is like an older brother to MC.
She doesn’t remember her own dad, barely remembers her mother (which is probably a good thing), and the foster parents were...well they were there. Having someone actually take an interest in her and listen to her is a new concept.
Reiner is protective of her. It doesn’t matter that she’s the WQ’s daughter, although it is worrying. She’s a child. She’s not her mother. And he intends to make sure she never becomes like her mother.
In Chicago, MC runs into Reiner as she’s getting off a subway and nearly falls because of a hurrying business man. Reiner catches her before she hurts herself.
He’s a little alarmed at how protective he is of a girl he’s never apparently met. He’s a college professor, and he’s sure he would recognize a ten year old in his classes
His alarm shifts when he drops her off at the foster home. They hadn’t even realized she was gone for a few hours (which is actually longer). Leaving her there seems more of a danger and it hurts Reiner for some inexplicable reason
Reiner winds up going to the courts and asking to foster her. This breaks the curse on him.
He doesn’t fully adopt her in Chicago, because that takes too much time and they don’t have that time. He formally adopts her in the Fantasy Realm
Which winds up making her a defacto princess when Reiner is declared King
Which opens up a completely different can of very large worms. She’s the WQ’s daughter. Someone who coveted the throne...what if that had been her plan
MC doesn’t really care about a crown or a throne, and makes it very clear on that. She doesn’t want to be like her mother.
And the retainers/Reiner make it very clear to not go near that topic or go after MC because things will happen to them if they attack the girl. Bad things. Like really, really bad things.
Defeating her mother hurts, and losing Ishara hurts because that was the closest person she had to a motherly figure. She begins to heal, just like the land
Iseul Idreis
He...really doesn’t know what to say or do. In his very long life, he’s never come across something like this.
He doesn’t want the responsibility of the girl, knowing full well what the implications of this. Reluctantly he accepts Reiner’s order.
Slowly she and he bond, and he treats her like an annoying little sister.
Meeting his mother is nerve-wracking to say the least. She doesn’t have the greatest luck with meeting mothers, hers included.
Ishara however is incredibly sympathetic to the girl and is protective of her. Also...a sort of grandchild
Iseul blushes at that and is very embarrassed. MC didn’t hear so she has no idea what was said and Iseul refuses to explain why his sisters are cackling and he looks about ready to jump off a cliff.
Speaking of cliffs…
MC blames herself for his perceived death and withdraws from a lot of people. Ishara is there to comfort her.
Iseul has a whole lot of explaining and bribing MC with sweets to get her to forgive him for that
Ishara and Iseul plan on having her drink from the well when she’s a little older
Helena Klein
Helena knew of MC prior to this, though not in big detail. Whenever she asked WQ, she was greeted with pain and punishment.
She stops asking after a certain point
When MC arrives, of course Helena initially thinks she’s the WQ just aged down. MC tells her over and over again she isn’t.
Eventually Helena believes her and realizes she’s the child that the WQ had refused to talk about.
She also realizes the girl is in far more danger now
That is her primary reason for escaping with the girl. If the WQ comes back...the girl will probably not survive
MC is incredibly protective of Helena, especially when she finds out what her mother did to her.
She feels guilty for looking like her mother, because Helena doesn’t deserve seeing a mirror of her mother. Helena is quick to assure her that she doesn’t fear her.
It’s strange for Helena to be in the Human realm. She doesn’t complain, especially when she sees MC seeming to come out of her shell.
Losing Alain breaks something in Helena and MC switches roles from being a child to being the adult and comforting Helena
It’s strange, but she does it
When Helena is in Chicago, and forgets everything MC asks Sophie to watch over her because she’s too old to be in the foster home and she doesn’t have anywhere to go.
When she finally remembers, she is pissed at where MC is. Basically drags MC away.
When they return to Chicago after everything, Helena plans on adopting MC so she can be raised right. It doesn’t matter what she has to do to make it work. She will.
Alain Richter
He remembers finding out WQ was pregnant. He doesn’t know who the father was, though he had an inkling it was someone from the high King’s council.
He doesn’t like to think that there is a chance the child could have been his.
WQ told him that she had been killed, which added to his loyalty to her and hatred to the others because they killed an innocent child
When he sees MC, he just knows who she is. And realizes what the WQ had done.
He’s far more protective of her. MC starts seeing him as a fatherly figure.
It throws him that’s for sure. The woman he loved, and swore loyalty to is gone, but the child, her child is there.
He swears loyalty to her and protects her the best he can.
Something in him snaps when WQ orders him to kill off MC. The lie she told him about MC years before comes back and he realizes that she will do to ensure she will win
When he reaches the Human Realm, he doesn’t fight. He doesn’t even really care if he’s executed for his crimes. His only request is that she's protected. She wasn’t involved with the crimes that he did for the WQ.
That throws Reiner and the retainers off as they look at this girl who is trying to be as small as possible.
He’s surprised when Reiner allows them to stay, just without weapons and he can still watch over MC.
He begins training her in self-defense.
Her mother comes to reclaim her daughter, something that terrifies Alain. Reiner protecting the girl makes Alain realize she would always be safer there than with her mother
The Libra thing is so much a magical girl anime that it isn’t even funny to MC, but she manages to do it.
Alain decides to adopt her.
He couldn’t save her mother...but he won’t fail the girl.

helena x mc - coming home
Story: Love & Legends
Pairing: Helena Klein x MC
Word count: 1704
-
Though a magnificent sight to behold, but everything around her wasn’t.
Life was stripped away from the living things around her, save for the retainers, myself, and all the allies around us, channeling all those energy into her newly founded body. I always wondered how powerful she was, under all of that vulnerability. How a slight push could trigger the world’s end.
Now, I’m seeing that for myself.
The sun, which used to shine its warm rays on us, was now bleeded with midnight black. Obsidian flame tendrils coiled around my fiancee’s arms as she directed her hardened gaze towards her former mistress. The one who brought upon chaos and misguided upbringing to her life.
“More! Why don’t you come at me with what you have, little light!” The Witch Queen cackled with delight.
I could feel Altea tugging at my arm. “Come on, Iryn! We have to take cover before she decides to tear you apart as well!”
I’d known better than to leave Helena behind with the Witch Queen like this, but the love of my life turned her head around and gave me that oh-so-beautiful loving smile. That was my Helena Klein. She is still my Helena Klein.
“Komm zurück zu mir, mein Schatz,” I gave it my best shot in her native tongue.
That air so strong with energy dissolved for a short while, before Helena huffed, a smirk tugging at the edge of her lips.
“Keine Zusagen,” she replied.
I gave in to Altea’s hold, letting her take me into the skies, as far as she could bring me and the others away from the main event at the docks.
I prayed silently under my breath, hoping that the woman that I will be married to for eternity will be coming back home.
Coming back home to me.
-
“How’s the battle going?” Reiner muttered, his arms crossed over his armoured chest.
Queen Ishara delicately got down on one knee, pressing her palm into the earth, glowing in a soft green light in response to the elven queen’s magic. Her eyes glowed as well, but her strained expression spoke the truth of her current state. She might be thousands of years older than all of us, but magic has its limits as well.
“The Witch Queen is at her final stages of her limits,” Ishara said, recovering from her position. “She won’t be able to hold on any longer, not with Helena still thrumming with such dark energy from within.”
I silently prayed that Helena hasn’t succumbed to the darkness, yet.
“She’ll be alright,” a small answer from Saerys made me jump slightly. “Although she might be the one who contributed to my people’s extermination, but judging the relationship between you two, she’ll be alright.”
“I agree with Saerys, my friend,” Iseul hopped onto his feet, slinging his arm around my shoulder. “Knowing that that blonde beauty holds a formidable power and knows who to come back to once all of this is over, she’ll be back.”
I hope so.
Just then, Altea swooped into the cave, landing on her heels with a slight screech in her tracks. Breathlessly, she looked at me and said, “You might need to come with me, and see this for yourself.”
I thought that I could finally have my fiancee back, not until I saw the scene that braced my eyeview.
The Witch Queen’s body was crumpled against the ground, the earth shattered beneath her lithe form. Helena stood- no floated - above her, black lightning that pulsed in a dark purple light, forming in her raised fist. Sickly red veins were formed at the corner of her eyes and spreaded across her temple and down along her cheekbones.
“What...What are you?” The fallen queen shakily rasped.
Helena scoffed, her arm jerked as she summoned more lightning, no doubt to finish the cause of destruction, once and for all.
“I...am a nightmare.”
The screams that followed next were peeling my ears, as bolts after bolts of lightning struck onto the Witch Queen. Funny that that was how I got into this universe, and found myself attracted to Helena. Seeing myself in that Witch Queen was definitely not fun at all. I could feel Altea’s hand brush against my shoulder in silent comfort.
It was going way too far for me.
I only wanted her dead, and not for her to get blown up by how I got here.
“HELENA, STOP!”
Despite the warning that was sounded behind me, I lunged for Helena’s waist, wrapping my arms tightly around my body, as I grunted under the mighty power of her lightning. I smiled sadly, watching my skin starting to show the red beneath.
“You’re not a nightmare, Helena,” I whispered against her embrace. “You’re my Helena Klein. Come home to me. Come back to me, please?”
Spots of black threatened to fill my vision as my body cried out in pain, unable to withstand the voltage any longer.
“I love you, Helena Klein. And I will marry you, I swear to the heavens.”
The lightning dissolves around us, as the both of us collapsed on our knees. When I made my attempt to lift my head to see the love of my life, a weak hand cradled my jaw instead, bringing to see my future wife.
“I-Iryn? Are you with me?”
I smiled. “Yes, I am. I forever will.”
I succumbed to the darkness, not knowing when I will ever wake up.
-
I was wondered how I would die when I was back in Chicago.
Dealing with work, paying my apartment bills...I sometimes wanted to be away from everything. Now that I think about Chicago, I started to tear up, thinking about the people that I have left behind...including Sophie.
Sophie was the only best friend and the only person I could rely on while growing up there. I had no family or next of kin due to my origins and where I came from. She helped me become who I am, and I just couldn’t bear seeing her expression when I got struck by that lightning during that freak storm.
I didn’t know where I was.
There was a sky washed with cool toned colours of the galaxy, along with stars, pulsing like little heartbeats everywhere.
It was a sight for sore eyes. I would kill this for my morning view in Chicago everyday.
However, it was missing something.
The familiar warmth, that powerful presence that always lingered beside me from the day I came into this world. Her striking blonde hair, her dark blue eyes, and those lips...gods above, I would be damned if I was taken already.
“Helena…” I trailed off, turning my head around slowly to observe my surroundings. She was nowhere to be seen.
Then, something called from afar. Like a murmur, calling out to me. I couldn’t hear it properly at first, but when I tried to close everything out, I could hear it loud and clear.
“Iryn, my love...come back to me, my shining star…”
She sounded lost, like a boat without the lighthouse to guide its way back to shore. Most of all, she sounded guilty for causing me to be in this state. I ultimately don’t blame her at all, because she was swayed by emotions, and her resentfulness towards the Witch Queen. She didn’t know when to stop.
“I...am a nightmare.”
I wish I could tell her that she wasn’t.
If I could just reach out to her…
I reached my hand towards her voice, and let the blinding light wash me away. Hopefully, back into her arms.
And yes, I did.
-
“Your Majesty! She has awoken!”
I hear a muffled shout as I slowly roused from my sleep, wincing in pain as I took in my surroundings when the blurriness was starting to clear.
My body was being cradled in Helena’s strong, perfectly muscled arms, my face against the crook of her neck. I inhaled the scent, taking her in all over again. She smelled like winter and pine, just like her birthday. A fresh winter morning out at the frozen lake. The elven queen was briskly making her way towards us, a look of relief washing over her facial features.
Now that I’m seeing her up close, she still looked very young. Although old in age, she’s older and wiser, reminding me of Elder Lightwing.
“Thank the heavens, you’re alright,” Ishara breathed. “You had lost your heartbeat for the moment, but because of Helena’s dark magic that flowed into you, she has brought you back.”
She looked solemn for a bit, but swallowed it in and maintained that look of professionalism that I think August himself can’t even make do with.
“But it does come with complications.”
Helena’s throat bobbed. “I’m listening.”
“As she is human until we further investigate on her true identity after that revelation in her home world, the dark magic might do slight damages to her body although it is the reason that brought her back,” Ishara explained. Helena only stared ahead at the elven queen.
“Since I will be busy with repairing the damage done to the elven domain, I will need you to constantly keep an eye on her and use your light magic to keep her from corrupting until I am free off duties to give her proper healing sessions, am I understood?”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Lullay moon princess, goodnight sister mine
Helena’s gaze lingered on the doorway as the doors closed with a soft click, the elven queen making her way out.
I watched as there was a mix of emotions in response to what Queen Ishara had just announced about my condition.
Helena looked like she regretted channeling her forbidden magic into my body to bring me back to life. But at the same time, she also looked like she didn’t regret it either.
“Are you...alright?” I asked, gently sliding my fingertips across her cheek.
And rest now in moonlight’s embrace
She smiled sadly in return, kissing the top of my forehead.
“As long as you are, I will, forever be.”
Bear up my lullaby, winds of the earth
Through cloud, and through sky, and through space

L&L Single Parent AU
So I was kind of inspired by @musicfeedsmysoul12 headcanon of the Love & Legends MC being a single mother. As I also like that AU I decided to give it a go. I tried to keep it as different as I could to @musicfeedsmysoul12‘s which is here.
It’s a bit long so I’m placing them in the Read Below
August Falke
The kid is a shy and quiet five year old bio daughter of MC, and is incredibly mature for her age. The father was abusive towards both of them, and MC managed to leave.
It was after a particularly bad beating where MC realized that if she didn’t leave, she probably wouldn’t live much longer and she would be damned if she was going to leave her daughter in the hands of that man.
She basically blackmails him with the threat of going to the police to get him to leave them both alone.
Sophie is protective of the girl and babysits when MC has to do multiple shifts for work.
August is still initially suspicious of MC, and still very angry and argumentative with her over it. He doesn’t have as hard of time letting go of the idea of MC being the Witch Queen, because of her daughter.
However she takes a lot longer to trust him because of the anger and suspicion.
When MC ran away after the whole ice crystal incident, all the little girl saw in her mind was Mommy running away from Daddy.
It takes her a lot longer to trust August after all this and she is pretty much glued to her mother’s side, and never really lets any of them out of her sight when alone with her mother.
She was a shield for her mother back in Chicago, she’ll be her mother’s shield now.
She does her best to keep away from him for a little while in season 2, even after her mother reconciles with August, much to his confusion and concern.
August is aghast when MC explains the reasons for her daughter’s behavior around and general distrust of him.
The very idea of someone laying a hand on either MC or the little girl makes him sick. Even at his angriest he wouldn’t have dreamed of channeling his anger into hitting either of them.
With her permission he tells the others, and she’s honestly surprised and relieved with the reactions.
They all make sure both mother and daughter are alright and know they are willing to listen if they need to talk.
The kid winds up making a connection (and reconciling) with August due to her love of horses. The two obsess over horses which amuses MC. She begins to come out of her shell because of this, though she is still generally shy.
In general she follows Solaire and Ryland around the castle when not following her mother. But she begins to open up to the others after a little while. Her favorite person to stay with is Saerys. He has no problem teasing the others that he’s the favorite.
Reiner is a close second and it takes very little persuasion to convince him to teach her how to play the piano
August is extremely protective of MC and the girl, even more so after MC tells him of the abuse. Almost vicious, especially when he goes to Chicago and they run into the father. It’s really only because MC is there that stops August from beating the man into a pulp.
She calls August ‘papa’ when they are visiting the Falke Inn during Season 3
He’s surprised to say the least and has some explaining to do with his mother.
MC tells him later that she can ask her daughter to not call him that if it makes him feel uncomfortable, but he reassures her it doesn’t.
The little girl isn’t with August and MC when MC is sent back to Chicago. So she’s quite startled and scared when August is brought in injured, and her mother is nowhere to be found.
She barely leaves August’s side and tries to be as helpful as she can. When her mother comes back, she is pretty much glued to her side.
When the WQ’s curse begins to affect her, MC practically begs August to take care of her daughter, panicking at the idea of leaving her alone. August tells her that there was no way he would leave the girl alone and he would raise the girl if MC doesn’t survive.
He does also swear to MC he will do anything in his power to make sure she doesn’t die.
August’s parents find her adorable and Asta absolutely dotes on her. As far as she’s concerned, she’s the girl’s grandmother now and becomes that . Bayard takes a little bit longer to warm up to the girl, in part of her shyness around other men, but eventually he grows close with her.
August’s sisters become incredibly protective of her. Especially Heloise.
August asks the little girl if he can marry MC first, because her comfort is just as important to him as MC.
When he and MC talk about having other kids, August is quick to assure her that he sees the girl as his own daughter as well.
Saerys
The kid is the adopted 8 year old daughter of MC. MC had been dating her father when he was killed in an accident when she was 5. Her mother didn’t want custody of her because she had started a new family, so MC took her in.
The kid at first doesn’t like Saerys, due to her bio mom choosing her new family over her and fearing that MC would abandon her too if she winds up getting a family with Saerys.
Especially when Saerys runs away and MC runs after him to try and convince him to come back. MC tells her that she would have come back, but it takes a few days for her to forgive her.
In season 3 while in Chicago, they run into bio mom who basically ignores her right in front of her new family at the coffee shop.
It just breaks the kid and she just storms off, which leads to a frantic search from both MC and Saerys. It’s Saerys who finds her in a park.
It does lead to a heart-to-heart conversation between the two, and Saerys promises that he wouldn’t ever make MC choose between either of them and that as far as he’s concerned, she’s his daughter. Her mother didn’t know what she was losing.
It’s Season 4 where she starts calling both MC and Saerys Mom and Dad. Saerys is stunned, but MC just smiles. It’s a very happy day for them.
Saerys in turbo mode never attacks the girl, and is incredibly protective of her in that mode.
They don’t tell her right away about what happened to MC with having half of Saerys’s soul. MC does tell her a few days after just so she doesn’t find out by other means. The girl understandably freaks out, though is more freaked out that MC died than the soul part. She likes Saerys more because of that.
The demon souls don’t know what to make of her. On the one hand a child. On the other hand it’s not her biological child. MC is not pleased by this.
Saerys is protective of her and MC, like extremely protective of them. That little girl begins to learn self-defense from Saerys.
He begins to teach the girl the demon language. He has to try really hard to not laugh when she says curse words in demon language and try to scold her when MC figures it out.
Initially she’s scared of Saerys’s Demon God Mode, but she gets used to it.
She’s initially nervous about meeting the other demons, because unlike MC, she doesn’t have any demon connection other than Saerys. After all, just like what the Demon Gods say, she’s not biologically MC’s. Saerys is quick to remind her of the promise made in Chicago.
Altea Bellerose
The kid is the four year bio son of MC. He was conceived via in vitro. His other mom unfortunately died due to an illness, and he doesn’t really remember her because he was so young. All he remembers is Mama being sad for a little while after Mommy left.
At first Altea is still suspicious, because anyone knows that Reiner has a soft spot for protecting children. WQ would totally use that against them. However as she watches them, and she can clearly see MC loves the boy. Something the WQ wouldn’t be able to act out
He is absolutely enthralled by Altea, like full on staring before growing completely excited over Altea’s magic. And begins to ask a lot of questions to MC’s embarrassment.
Altea finds it adorable.
The little boy winds up following Altea wherever she goes as much as possible, though MC tries to distract him as much as she can when Altea is researching in the library so she can read more than two words.
Altea gives the boy the nickname ‘Little Shadow’. It fits.
Altea begins to teach the boy how to speak French and he just loves it.
Being a princess thing was a shock for MC and a big worrying factor for her, because she wondered what that would mean for her and her son. She’s a ‘commoner’ and a single mother. She doubts Altea’s parents would be happy with her or her son.
She’s right.
Altea is protective over him, especially with her parents attitudes towards MC and the boy.
Altea’s parents take a little while to accept MC and the boy, but when they do they become rather attentive grandparents.
Lionel loves the idea of being an uncle
When Altea gains her wings, she and the boy go flying. It’s fun for the kid, but the other retainers and Reiner have to watch as MC nearly has an aneurysm watching the two of them fly around.
Reiner Wolfson
The kid is a seven month old bio daughter of MC. The father, while not physically abusive, was incredibly manipulative towards her but she put up with it. However, when she discovered he was cheating on her, she broke up with him.
She found out a week later she was pregnant. When she told him just so he would know, he first denied the baby being his and accused her of being a cheater, before ultimately saying he wanted nothing to do with the baby.
Reiner (and the other retainers) were just stunned by the infant. They all pretty much become protective from the start.
It’s easier for them to figure out that she isn’t WQ due to the fact that the girl is only a few months old and she’s been gone for several years. And Reiner’s spies would have discovered offspring of the WQ way before this.
Admittedly when they first arrive, they are suspicious. The baby girl does not understand why people hate her mommy initially and just begins bawling when August begins to yell at MC. Cue panicked attempts to get her to calm down before MC manages to do so.
She enjoys teaching Reiner the song of her people on the piano...AKA bashing the piano keys with her tiny hands. MC apologizes multiple times but Reiner just laughs and laughs and says it’s understandable and he’s just happy that she seems to be enjoying herself.
She enjoys listening to Reiner play the piano though, and usually falls asleep listening to it.
When MC gives herself up to the generals, her only thought is that her daughter is safe with Reiner and the others, and she can live with that.
MC’s initially hesitant to get into a relationship due to her daughter’s father and that whole experience with him, though her heart warms whenever she watches Reiner with her daughter
This is even more evident when Reiner asks her to marry him. At first she’s really hesitant, but then sort of realizes that Reiner loves both her and her daughter and accepts
The baby senses something is wrong with her mother in Season 3, and gets fussy a lot easier when being held by her.
Reiner is super protective of her and of MC, especially when they get word that WQ intends to keep her alive and raise her.
Example of this is when Magnus makes a veiled threat in season 2 when the Generals attempt to get MC again that if they cannot have the mother, the daughter will do. Reiner fires an arrow at him so Magnus understands what he would have to deal with if he even attempts that.
Reiner is not a happy man when he finds out about the girl’s father, which is early on in Season 2. It surprises MC quite a bit, but also makes her heart skip a beat.
Ryland absolutely adores her. Almost rivals Reiner in the protective streak.
The baby is in that age range where everything goes into the mouth. It’s cute at first until she starts trying to put Reiner’s arrows into her mouth.
Then cue panic and trying to gingerly get her to release the arrows.
When MC and the baby meet Reiner in Chicago, the baby is so excited to see him, though he doesn’t recognize her. It leads to a lot of confusion on her part, and breaks MC’s heart.
Reiner thankfully takes it in stride (he just assumes the father looked similar to him).
Reiner formally adopts the girl after he and MC marry, making her his heir. They happen to run into the girl’s biological father after the papers are signed. Reiner has some choice words with him, but does thank the man for at least helping create his daughter.
She’s his daughter in his eyes, no matter who disagrees.
He and MC do talk about whether they want another child. They decide that if they do decide to have another child, they will treat and raise both of them with the same amount of love, but there isn’t a rush.
Iseul Idreis
The kid is a three year old adopted son of MC. He’s a very quiet kid and just tends to stare at everything and everyone.
Iseul didn’t want to be the one to watch the both of them. Because children=a lot more responsibility
Iseul initially doesn’t understand what the kid wants when he just stares...and stares...and stares some more at different things, but mainly him.
It’s...actually quite off-putting to start off with.
It takes him a little bit to realize he just stares because he wants to and doesn’t really have anyone his age to hang around.
He gets used to him and eventually begins to understand what the boy wants when he stares at him. MC is there to help him out on that
It’s a slower burn relationship because of Iseul’s hesitance of being responsible for the kid and MC’s hesitance of him and the situation in general.
The two begin to bond through the kids' interest in archery. Like when he and MC watch Iseul training, it is the most interest MC has seen him take in an activity other than being read to.
Eventually Iseul develops a soft spot for the kid
Ishara absolutely adores him. Becomes grandma Ishara pretty quickly.
The rest of Iseul’s family follows suit and his siblings are so protective of him.
He is spoiled so much by Iseul’s family.
It is revealed that he was a test made by the WQ using Magnus and then discarded him, followed swiftly by making MC.
Both Iseul and MC decide to wait until he’s older before telling him this as it would confuse and scare him at this point.
He becomes a very gentle and quiet brother for Iris, who will go to him if she gets annoyed with their parents. He generally leaves her to her own devices, but is the occasional partner-in-crime
Iseul and Ishara fully plan on him drinking from the well as well.
The dragons at first actually scare him...and they learn that he would be the first one killed if a wild animal attacked because he just freezes when he gets startled. He gets used to them, but still.
Helena Klein
The kid is a ten year boy that MC adopted. He is the son of a friend that died. His mother was murdered by his father, and he had no one else. He was unfortunately witness to this, and at the start is mute due to the trauma.
Both MC and Sophie are protective of him, and whenever he has nightmares MC just holds him until he falls back asleep.
When MC and him arrive, he’s understandably terrified, but is then really confused. MC makes an excuse as to why she arrived with a ten year old boy. She doesn’t tell anyone the truth for a little while, though she suspects Helena was figuring it out before she told her.
He begins to develop magical abilities, that they can only assume was because they were sent there. Helena begins to teach, though she is extremely hesitant due to how she learned and was taught by the WQ
Helena is protective of the boy and the boy is actually pretty protective of Helena, especially when he gets the Spark Notes version of the abuse she suffered from the WQ. Like he literally stands in front of Reiner and the retainers when they go to arrest her to protect her.
It’s really hard fro him to come to terms when she forgets everything in Chicago, but tries to help her as much as MC does.
He begins speaking in later seasons, only a little at first but eventually starts talking completely in Season 5
It is a very happy day for MC
He starts calling MC ‘Ma’ and Helena ‘Mom’ in Season 6
Helena begins crying uncontrollably when he calls her that the first time.
When Alain is killed, the boy worries about Helena’s mental state a great deal afterwards, and has flashbacks of when his mother was killed.
Alain Richter
The kid is a one year old bio daughter of MC and the result of a one night stand. MC doesn’t remember much of that night other than she had consented, though it can be considered dubious consent at best (especially if you ask Sophie). She looks exactly like her mother.
She manages to convince the other Generals that she had made this child as an experiment, but does confide in Alain that the girl is biologically hers.
He’s understandably hurt and confused, but she confesses that she really doesn’t remember a whole lot that night.
This opens a completely different can of worms for Alain, who really, really, really wants to kill the man.
Alain winds up adoring this girl. Like he holds her for the first time and MC sees him relax in an instant and his guard goes down just as fast.
The same can be said about the baby, who calms down rather quickly when given to Alain.
Becomes overprotective Papa the moment he sees her.
When WQ learns of the child, she sees the toddler as her own and begins to make plans to take and raise her.
This terrifies MC because of her memories of what WQ has done and she knows she could never let that happen.
MC uses her love for Alain and her daughter to fend off Jinhai’s creatures when they escape.
When his heart is frozen, the girl seems to sense it, leading her to not like being held by him. MC knows he’s truly back when he picks her up, and she giggles, and then hugs him..
She begins crying out of relief which scares the shit out Alain, who fears she’s hurt.
She tells Alain if she doesn’t survive to take care of their daughter in her stead. He at first denies the request, but when she makes it practically an order, he complies, albeit reluctantly.
When they’re in Chicago, they run into the baby’s bio daddy. It does not go over well when the man insults MC in front of Alain, especially when the man mocks the toddler as well.
MC is pretty much convinced that anyone who tries to be in a relationship with their daughter when she’s older is going to have one hell of a fight on their hand.
