Something really interesting showed up on Twitter today! This is from a copy of Kadokawa's Neo Hero Times from August 10th 1992, and it's a rough draft design sketch by Sachiko Kamimura that shows Daryun and Narsus aged 13! (Okay, at first I assumed it's by Kamimura herself, but it does also say 'with Ikeda-san from advertising' so maybe the drawing and quote are by them instead? If anyone can clarify, that'd be great!)
Before this I wasn't sure what Kamimura's (?) feelings on Daryun/Narsus were, but here (as far as I can tell) the text says that she wanted to portray a boy and young man whose hearts are swayed like in the English film Maurice. 👀
Tumblr media
In the same issue, this event report also features some Arslan Senki characters, drawn by Chisato Nakamura! (Too complicated for me to try and translate, but I'm curious about what's going on there.)

Good Morning Good Night, Sachiko M / Toshimaru Nakamura / Otomo Yoshihide (2004)
Tumblr media
No wonder Good Morning Good Night angers so many – music rarely tests the recorded form like this. Sachiko M, Nakamura and Yoshihide work their strains of experimentalism into the sounds of the everyday, intermingling life with digital buzz and vice versa. One’s experience is totally dictated by circumstance; so life shifts, as one never lives the same sounds twice, so no two listens of Good Morning Good Night are alike.

📚Sachi Nakamura: aesthetic and facts📚
Tumblr media
📚Her full name is Sachiko Nakamura, but she prefers to be called only Sachi.
📚She is 170 cm tall. Kanato is not happy about this fact
📚She didn't have a good childhood, her father neglected her and her mother was mentally ill, so she started reading a lot and developed a maladaptive daydreaming habit.
📚Her mom is still abusive towards her and often insults her and beats her. She even burned her once with a cigarette, leaving a scar on her right shoulder. When she's feeling anxious, she feels like the scar starts to burn.
📚His dad is missing. Sachi thinks he even left the country because of how unhappy he was with his life.
📚She has to attend the nocturnal academy because she has a part time job in a convenient store during the day.
📚She can afford to study given the fact that she got a scholarship. Her mom doesn't have a job, and Sachi's salary is very low, so thanks to her previous good grades the academy decided to give her the scholarship.
📚Sachi has trouble paying attention, so she started drawing in class out of boredom, and she's become pretty good.
📚The female basketball team in the academy asked her to join them because of her height. She accepted, although she wasn't very interested in basketball.
📚In the basketball training she met Ayato Sakamaki, and she developed a small crush on him.
📚But he ignored her.
📚Then she met Kanato.
📚And that's when everything started.
-
I was bored in class (like Sachi jsjsj) so I decided to write some facts about my long forgotten OC 🥲 next I'll do some headcanons about her and her relationship with the Sakamaki bros (specially Kanato, obviouslyyy).
If you reached here, thanks for reading! 💖

Yukina Has Two Moms
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's right. She has two moms. What of it? :P
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yukina is, biologically, the daughter of Sachiko Nakamura (the gal on the right up there) and the donation from an Ascendant fellow named...Steve. It's kinda of minor inside joke between me and Leigh, but I digress. Koyomiko "Miko" Nakamura (née Takino) was the surrogate. We'll get more into the details into this whole thing during Miko Month, and we'll learn more about both her moms in their respective birthday months.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Yukina's a little weird here - she loves her moms very much, though Sachiko is definitely the tighter bond. She basically grew up with Sachiko around as often as she could and learned a lot of from her. She may have been busy as the Captain of the Favreau-Tokyo clan, but, she'd try her best to be there for her girl! It didn't matter if the girl visited her at the office, either. It's just next door, after all!
Tumblr media
Miko, meanwhile, was busy traveling the world as an Ascendant activist. However, Miko was always there in Yuki's early years and makes an effort in giving her a call or two when she can.
Tumblr media
Still, there's a little bit of disconnect there. There's a few bonus materials and even Special 2 and 3 looked a little into this.
Tumblr media
Yuki was a little too attached to both of them. She was definitely babied as an only child, but she wasn't spoiled. They all did things together as often as possible and, in her eyes, they were pretty important people doing really cool things.
Then Chapter 5 happened!
I won't get into details but...something happened there. Yukina had to learn how to do things without them. It's rough.
Anyway, here's a stupid thing that DOES talk about Yuki's donor-dad. Just to get back to something lighthearted lmao

Shigeru Amachi in Jigoku (Nobuo Nakagawa, 1960)
Cast: Shigeru Amachi, Utako Mitsuya, Yoichi Numata, Hiroshi Hayashi, Jun Otomo, Akiko Yamashita, Kiyoko Tsuji, Fumiko Miyata, Akira Nakamura, Kimie Tokudaiji, Akiko Ono, Hiroshi Izumida. Screenplay: Nobuo Nakagawa, Ichiro Miyagawa. Cinematography: Mamoru Morita. Production design: Shosuke Sasane, Haruyasu Kurosawa. Film editing: Toshio Goto. Music: Michiaki Watanabe.
I know what hell is: listening to elevator music interrupted by assurances that "your call is important to us" while on infinite hold. Which is not the idea that director Nobuo Nakagawa and co-screenwriter Ichiro Miyagawa present. It's pretty much the traditional one of fire and torture. Jigoku is a cult film, as many of the better (or at least more arty) horror films become, and while I'm not a member of the cult I can appreciate the skill with which Nakagawa presents his vision. It's a movie that ranges from deeply somber to extraordinarily lurid. The protagonist, Shiro (Shigeru Amachi), is a student who, after celebrating his engagement to Yukiko (Utako Mitsuya), gets into a car driven by his sardonic friend Tamura (Yoichi Numata). On a dark road, Tamura runs down and kills a gangster, Kyoichi (Hiroshi Izumida), whose mother (Kiyoko Tsuji) witnesses the accident. Shiro wants to stop, but Tamura keeps driving. Since her son was a gangster, she doesn't report the hit-and-run to the police but, along with Kyoichi's girlfriend, Yoko (Akiko Ono), vows to hunt down Tamura and Shiro and kill them. After pleading with Tamura, Shiro decides to go to the police himself, but on the way the taxi driver -- whom Shiro briefly hallucinates as Tamura -- runs into a tree and Yukiko, who has reluctantly accompanied Shiro, is killed. Shiro's road to hell is certainly paved with good intentions, and after his death he winds up there. He has received a telegram that his mother is critically ill, so he goes to see her at the home for the elderly that his father runs in the country. She's not as ill as he feared -- the telegram was actually sent by Kyoichi's mother and girlfriend to lure him into their trap. He discovers that the old folks' home his father owns is actually run on the cheap, with a doctor who skimps on medicine and food. He also encounters Sachiko, a young woman who looks exactly like his fiancée, Yukiko, down to the pink parasol she carries. She turns out to be the sister Shiro didn't know he had, but by this time revelations are coming hard and fast: Tamura -- who appears more and more demonic -- turns up too, as do the potential assassins, and in an elaborate concoction of circumstances, everybody dies, including Shiro. And everybody goes to hell, which is a fantasia crafted out of depictions from old Buddhist paintings and traditional cinematic imaginings of the underworld. Shiro learns there that the taxi accident killed not only Yukiko but also their unborn child, and he spends much of his time trying to rescue the infant from the torments of the afterlife. The film ends, after much exploration of the more gruesome torments of hell, with Shiro's vision of the twinned Yukiko and Sachiko, both with pink parasols, but although it suggests Faust being redeemed by Gretchen, there's nothing to indicate that this is any kind of redemption for Shiro. In short, Jigoku is complicated, contrived, confusing, sometimes a little cheesy and more than a little morally questionable -- does Shiro really deserve to go through all this? -- but also thoroughly fascinating.

Seven Seas Entertainment Licenses the Nakamura-san, the Uninvited Gyaru Manga
Seven Seas Entertainment has announced that it has acquired the license for the Nakamura-san, the Uninvited Gyaru manga series by Sachiko Orihara. In this hilarious and sexy romantic comedy, love could blossom between the unlikeliest of couples. Akiyama and Nakamura-san are polar opposites. As an easily flustered otaku, Akiyama can’t even imagine a world where an outgoing, flashy gal like…

I have started going through a list of 500 ~avant garde~ albums I found on rym and I will now use this blog to give my thoughts on every one
What I have been to up (briefly) so far:
Moondog- moondog: I think I want to change my name to moondog
The pop group- y: post punk like this makes me so happy I have nothing else to say
Tim buckley- starsailor: whatever you think this album sounds like based on the over it does Not sound like that
The mothers of a invention- uncle meat: idk why Zappa doesn’t hit for me but most of the time I was just thinking “that’s nice frank” alsjfhdhdhdw
Henry cow- in praise of learning: I kind of forgot about this one already but I think it was good
Ground zero- revolutionary pekinese opera ver.1.28: Holy Fuckin Shit. There are a couple moments on this album that are some of my favorite moments in music ever. I’m gonna pretend that Disney interpolation at the end doesn’t exist though
Mingus- the black saint and the sinner lady: Holy Shit. MAN does the last track in particular hit
John zorn- naked city:….it wasn’t as abrasive as I thought it was going to be so honestly I’m kind of disappointed
Today is the day- sadness will prevail: as much as I appreciate intentionally grating albums with shit production and bad vocals (I’m not kidding here I mean it lol) there was really one stretch of songs in the middle that stayed with me and the rest of the TWO AND A HALF HOUR LONG ALBUM came and went
Sachiko m, toshimaru nakamura, otomo yoshihide- good morning good night: I fall into the camp of “random tones played at random intervals is good music actually” but if you have any health issues that may be exacerbated by high pitched tones playing for a long time than you should probably avoid this at all costs aldjfhshdhs
Gorguts-obscura: it’s masterfully played death metal but I feel like you can tell if youll like it or not like two tracks in
William basinski- the disintegration loops: my brain has been too addled by years of political discourse and George bush memes to be able to assess with Accidental Soundtrack To 9/11 with any clarity NEXT
Scraping foetus off the wheel- nail: theater kid (complimentary)
The residents- not available: theater kids (derogatorily but in a complimentary way)
Contortions- buy: not my favorite no wave album ever but I just love no wave so much that it doesn’t really matter
This heat-this heat: I listened to deceit a while back and I didn’t hit as much as a expected it to but but thankfully this one works a lot better for me. It’s also helping with the developing theory that no matter how experimental you think music can get nowadays some random guys were doing the exact same thing better in the 70s
Anyway that is all so far see you next time
