*meant to post this back in march, though still relevant. #Repost @mujerxsrising ・・・ Today on #EqualPayDay and #CesarChavezDay and as we close out #NFAW2020, let us reflect on the 32% of farmworkers that are women.  Farmworker women earn an average personal income of $11,250 per year compared to $16,250 for male farmworkers. Employers can discriminate & evade minimum wage when they combine a farmworker women's wages w/ her husband’s on one check. Women deserve #EqualPay for their work & their own paychecks. The #PaycheckFairnessAct could help alleviate poverty & make them less vulnerable to abuses. Farmworker women are also often targets of sexual harassment and violence in the workplace. Farmworker women & girls wear bandanas to protect themselves from the sun, chemicals & other elements. But they also wear bandanas to try to reduce unwanted sexual attention. Find out how to help by joining The #BandanaProject launching tomorrow at the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. justice4women.org #SAAM2020 Equal pay art by @shannonandersondesign https://www.instagram.com/p/CAUix4BJrIb/?igshid=2xv4y05twup5

#SAAM Starts Today!
Teal is the official color for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
For many people- Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) begins today. But for those who have been sexually assaulted, #SAAM is an everyday occurrence. While we all find ways to put the past behind us, and make the most of our lives, the defilement of rape is character changing. It lives within us forever.
For the team of CAN’s Consent…

Check out the What Were You Wearing virtual display by clicking in the picture to read the stories.
The “What Were You Wearing?” Survivor Art Installation originated at the University of Arkansas in 2013.  Created by Jen Brockman and Dr. Mary Wyandt-Hiebert, the project was inspired by Dr. Mary Simmerling’s poem, What I Was Wearing.
