Until Tomorrow

The van isn’t the most comfortable setting for a reunion, but at least it isn’t the bleachers. Or the freezer. At least here, they’re alone. Just them. No expectations, no words they aren’t ready to say or questions neither wants to ask. 

Just warmth and breath and the quiet creak of the van settling around them.

Ian shifts, pressing closer, his face burying into the crook of Mickey’s neck like he’s trying to anchor himself there, like maybe if he breathes deep enough, he can etch this moment into his bones. His arms tighten instinctively around Mickey’s waist, and he exhales, voice barely more than a murmur against warm skin. “You smell the same.”

Mickey, half-asleep, doesn’t even open his eyes. His fingers comb absently through Ian’s hair, lazy and familiar, like muscle memory. 

“Like what?” Ian hesitates, the answer catching in his throat before he finally exhales it, soft and certain.

“…I dunno. Just. Like home.”

Outside, the city hums with distant sirens, tires rolling over wet pavement, but inside the van, there’s only them. At least until tomorrow.

I don’t think you understand how much I hate supernatural. What do you mean the episode after Bobby’s death is about finding a girls missing father and it’d “be nice to get this girls dad back, you know?”? What do you mean that Bobby is no longer around after the line “I adopted two boys. And they turned out great.”?! What do yoU MEAN HE’S GONE?

We interrupt this mashblogging to gaze at two handsome scruffy gentlemen

Ok so because my brain has decided these boys are the ones I’m going to derive all my joy from for the foreseeable future I’ve, naturally, been coming up with headcanons. And quite a few of them have been based on the thought that “hey, if unicorns are identical twins, would that affect their magic in any way?” like what if that made their magic be on the same wavelength or something? And one of the headcanons I came up with pretty early on is that they can share dreams. So imagine my joy at this. Is it a completely wild conclusion to make based on this less-than-two-seconds moment? Yes. But the only other explanation is that they feature in each other’s dreams, which is also in line with the way I see them, so I win either way.

Drew and colored over a bit of this scene a few weeks ago since someone mentioned the pregnancy parallel, and it's been sitting with a bunch of other half-done projects inspired by this season. Just watched S7E10 for the first time and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same
