S4E24 “Deluge”
Synopsis: the wounded pour in as the Chinese break through UN lines, interspersed with news footage from the period
Rating:
Jokes: 3/5
Seriousness: 5/5
Plot: 2/5
Queer subtext: 1/5
Margaret's characterization: 2/5
My thoughts: the found footage is cool, but it makes the story hard to follow

trying to explore jones’ find (via reddit) and it is wild, can’t believe larry gelbart was just responding to fans like this... about deluge:
“Forget what the episode was originally entitled. but when Reynolds and
I timed the final cut, we realized that we did not have enough show.
I forget whose idea it was, but we decided to insert bits of actual
newsreel footage to add to the correct timing for the show's content
(26.20), started combing over available newsreel stuff, intercut it
with what we formerly shot and that was it.”

Deluge is so good and underrated! Margaret being gender! Hawkeye and BJ looking like a traumatised art painting at the end! the mix of triage and dancing! it makes me hysterical
People talk a lot about The Interview, rightly so, but for me it is ABSOLUTELY about the one-two punch of those episodes back to back. The structure of Deluge hit me so, so hard... the first episode I can remember watching slack-jawed with tears in my eyes

Rewatching the first ep that made my jaw drop :’)
I highly recommend finishing MASH and then immediately restarting it, just in case anyone was wondering
