Before everything hits the fan in the lamia episode, Gwaine spooks Merlin, who says, "I could've killed you!!!"
"With a fishing rod? Sir Gwaine was slain...with a fishing rod," was Gwaine's response.
No quips about Merlin's fighting capability vs his. No angry comment or statement that Merlin was dumb for being on his guard. Gwaine goes straight to ACTUAL harmless goofing around with Merlin, who he considers a dear friend.

Travelers isn't my favorite episode. I really really don't like Larin, but it does have some of Sheppard's more iconic faces. They always make me laugh.
Tumblr media
Tabula Rasa is one of those episodes that I love, but seem to forget that I love it until I rewatch it. I love Teyla and Ronon being the ones who save Atlantis. I love the military guys trying to follow orders they don't remember anymore. They're just trying. I love the scientists coming up with an escape plan. But most of all I love Ronon trying to reach through the memory loss to Sheppard and then shooting him. Also, I love Sheppard's plan to make sure they can return even if Lorne doesn't recognize him.

Missing while being a significant plot point episode isn't one of my favorites, but I appreciate getting to know Keller more, and it shows Teyla's more nurturing side rising up. I love how Teyla grows through the rest of Season 4 and into 5. She's not just a warrior woman, a leader, and the calm of the team. She's now finding out that she's also a mother. I love that they let her wrestle with that new responsibility without making her always right, a bump on a log, and acknowledging that she can't always be in the strike force anymore. I know none of that is in this episode, but I felt like she nurtured Keller, giving her strength and resolve and courage.

The Seer is great because we get Todd back. Yay Todd! And Woolsey who is ridiculous. I love that Todd has a sense of humor. I love that he's always playing some sort of chess game. I always find it sad that his faithful men die at the hands of other Wraith. I love that Todd sought out Sheppard. I love Keller in her quiet way making sure they weren't trying to turn the Seer into a science experiment. I love Sheppard having to remind Sam to do what she needs to do regardless of the visions. I love him in the chair ready to defend Atlantis. I love Sam not letting Woolsey's fear put them in jeopardy. He has yet to trust the team and Atlantis, but he will. I love dealing with the idea of seeing the future and how it can help or hinder depending upon how dependent you are on it.

The show makes it clear that Nick often wears dirty clothes, laundry is not his thing. The show then reveals Schmidt doesn’t know *how* to do laundry despite being a historically clean person.
Nick then teaches Schmidt how to do laundry.
The takeaway from this? Nick does know how to do laundry he just chooses not to and this tickles me

The Turtles and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
disclaimer, I do already know what's going on in this episode (me @ past me: stop reading fic about seasons you haven't seen yet!)
this isn’t the right takeaway from the intro, but I would love a TMNT-themed math test
burchos. wouldn't those be ground beef tacos?
the collective gasp when Leo talks back to Splinter is SUCH a sibling thing
watching this show is a funny mix of 'I'm engaged with this story and world' and 'hey! a tv fell on my little bro once, too!'
can't believe they killed off Klunk first
can’t believe Bishop flushed them out of the sewers like some kind of cartoony villain
. . . wait a second
actually though, I don’t get the revealing them to the world sitch
I thought his job was to take care of extraterrestrials and other alien adjacents so civilians didn’t find out about them?
Splinter @ Bishop: hey! don’t use that word that way
okay, his reasoning makes a lot of sense actually, I could see Bishop doing this
Let's get down to business to defeat turtles~
what the—why is there a very conspicuous arrow during the car chase?
and there's another one??
are these supposed to be normal street signs, and I'm reading into it, orrrrr
"show off" aww poor Raphy’s jealous
Green Menace, huh? wonder if this inspired Rise’s Mutant Menace
oh no! Not April and Casey!
Splinter seems onto it but tells them all to keep going? I'm not sure what his plan is to get them out of this. if he even has one yet
I feel like I should have thoughts about their different postures in this alleyway scene, but I can’t find any of them right now
well, that was an appropriately terrifying Shredder entrance
Splinter just walks away askdjdlsk
Raph!!
Bishop teaming up with Shredder?? now that really doesn’t make sense, given Exodus
aww, I love how, when Splinter tells them to join him in meditation on the astral plane, they turn their backs to the mystics to face Splinter in their usual meditation circle
Karai is filled with much rage
good episode! one part of me wishes I hadn’t known that it was a mystic attack going in, but another is grateful because I may have gotten pretty worked up knowing myself 😅

Also have we already talked about how in s4 e8 Merlin is tasked with going to Longstead to help with a sickness in Gaius' place, and Arthur doesnt accompany him but sends ALL THE MAIN KNIGHTS OF CAMELOT TO GO WITH HIM?? This couldve easily just been a Gwen and Merlin trip but Arthur was like here take this crazy protection.
And then Arthur freaked out when it had only been two days since the group rode out.

A key thing I've noticed is they keep saying how the Vulcan High Command has corrupted Surak's teachings, how the Syrrannites follow the true teachings. But they never actually explain what is different in their interpretation of the teachings.
The reason, of course, is the writers didn't really care. This whole arc was just a way to have their precious favorite captain Archer one-up Picard again.
