#s3e6 rewrite
Text
i think i might’ve said this in another post but like s3 would’ve improved by 10000% if they just put the footloose thing in the middle. here’s my pitch
it’s an excuse to have every sparrow live at least until e5/6
lila can be there
jayme’s power is treated as very suspicious and mysterious and scary and when it gets revealed it’s in this way
woagh sparrow lore???? yeah!
all the characters are actually doing shit together that’s plot relavent
assuming there would be a battle, we get multiple huge awesome fight scenes à la s1/kind of s2
it doesn’t start s3 off on a weird note that doesn’t match up with the rest of the season, unlike s2/s1
thank you for your time.

merthur fic recs: pining!arthur
1. That Awkward Age by i_know_its_0ver
Arthur is secretly in love with Merlin but can't tell him, so he comes up with a plan to get Merlin to help him "practice" his kissing.
~~~
oh arthur is such a charmingly clueless fool in this fic. the fic utilises the premise of arthur and merlin growing up together, so we have the childhood friends trope going on and they’re only in their teenage years during the events in this fic, and i am very soft about these literal babies.
2. When Your Love Wakes You by Fantasy_lalaland
"Only the person Merlin loves most can wake him." The girl took on the air of someone who held the upper hand over their adversaries. "Only a kiss from the person he desires most can break the curse."
"Why?" Mordred questioned, "Why lay such a curse on him and offer the chance of a cure?"
But Arthur knew the answer even as she said it. "Merlin desires no one. It isn't within his capability to."
Takes place a year after 5 x 6, The Dark Tower
~~~
this fic has the season 5 ot4 we deserved. merlin is unfortunately in coma throughout majority of it, but we got bamf!gwen, redeemed!morgana and arthur finally getting his braincell time.
3. A Marriage of Convenience by YulianaHenderson
Arthur knows he has a duty to marry strategically. His father had always taught him that. Arthur can't help but wish, however, that things were different.
~~~
ok this technically doesn't end with them getting together (yet) but you know it’s gonna happen if this author was the one in charge of writing bbc merlin. it’s a s3e6 rewrite and arthur makes his decision about marrying for love with merlin in mind (as it should be).
You and the Winchesters were back at the house, back in your regular clothing instead of the fancy ones. You didn’t know where Bela was or what she did with the hand she stole but you knew you needed to get it back. But in the meantime, since you didn’t have her number or anything like that, all you could do is wait until she showed up because you knew she would.
“You know, I might keep these shoes. They are very cute.” You said while sitting on the couch inside the living room. Sam was sitting next to you but Dean was staring at the ship-in-a-bottle with a deep frown on his face.
“You know what, you’re right. I'm not gonna kill her. I think slow torture's the way to go.” Dean said, not paying attention to anything anyone is saying.
“Dean, look, you gotta relax,” Sam said even though he was pissed.
“Relax! Oh yeah, yeah, I'll relax. I can't believe she got another one over on us!” Dean exclaimed.
“You,” Sam said as he looked up.
“What?” Dean asked and you looked at Sam and frowned.
“I... I mean, she got... one over... on you... not us.” Sam stuttered.
“Thanks for the help, Samuel.” You glared at him and he rolled his eyes slightly. Suddenly, there was rapid knocking on the door and you knew exactly who that was.
“Hello? Could you open up?” Bela’s voice came through from the other side. Dean opened the door and all three of you looked pissed at her. “Just let me explain.”
“Oh, I’ll let you explain,” You got up and walked right over to her, raising your arm back to slap her in the face but Dean caught your arm and pulled you into him. You glared at her and she looked at you before looking at Sam and Dean. Dean moved back, bringing you with him and let Bela inside. She walked right over to the table and he let you go.
“I sold it. I had a buyer lined up as soon as I knew it existed.” Bela confessed. Sam was leaning against the mantle, giving her the bitchface while you and Dean stood next to Bela, glaring at her. Dean, who was furious, walked around her and shot Bela with his finger gun. If only you could actually kill her.
“So, the whole reason for us going to the charity ball was...?” Sam asked.
“I needed a cover. You were convenient.”
“Look, you sold it to a buyer. Just go buy it back.” Sam sighed.
“It's halfway across the ocean. I can't get it back in time.” Bela sighed.
“In time for what?” You asked, staring at her. She didn’t say anything, except to look down at the table. “Bela, in time for what?”
“I saw the ship.” She finally said, looking up where she stared at the wall instead of in anyone’s eyes.
“You what? Wow, you know, I—I knew you were an immoral thieving con artist bitch, but just when I thought my opinion of you couldn't get any lower—” Dean was cut off.
“What are you talking about?” Bela looked at him.
“We figured out the spirit’s motive,” You said, making her look at you. You grabbed a photograph off the table she was sitting at and showed her. “This is the captain of the ghost ship. The one who hung our ghost boy.”
“So?” Bela was confused.
“So, they were brothers. Very Cain and Abel. So now our spirit, he's going after a very specific kind of target – people who've spilled their own family’s blood,” You explained and Bela looked shocked. “See, first, there was Sheila who killed her cousin in the car accident, and the Warren brothers, who murdered their father for the inheritance. And now you.” Sam explained.
“Oh my God…” Bela whispered.
“Who was it, Bela? Hmm? Who did you kill? Was is daddy? Your little sister, maybe?” Dean antagonized her.
“It’s none of your business,” Bela said in a clipped tone.
“It isn’t? You came to us for help and you don’t want to tell us what happened? Alright, have fun with the rest of your life. Let’s go,” Dean said, slapping Bela on her back. You smiled at her and got up but stopped when you realized, this wasn’t who you were. Even though Bela was a con artist, you weren’t her and you liked helping people and Bela was no different.
“You can’t just leave me here,” Bela said, sounding scared. Dean and Sam were already at the door but you were still by her side.
“Watch us.” Dean glared.
“Bela, listen to me,” You whispered to her, making her look at you. You could see how scared she was. “The only reason I’m helping is because that is who I am. I’m not doing it for you, I’m doing it for me and for the people after you who will see this ship. Look, you’re hiding something and that's fine if you don’t want to tell us, we’re not going to force you. But acting like you’re not scared when you are, isn’t going to help us. Guys, we have to help her.”
“Why should we, a couple of serial killers, help her?” Dean asked, holding a grudge against her.
“Okay, that was a bit harsh, I admit, but it doesn’t warrant a death sentence,” Bela said, standing up, you following her actions.
“Because that is who we are, Dean. We help people, even if they don’t deserve it.” You said to Dean, looking at Bela. She sighed and looked down.
“What did you do, Bela?” Sam asked.
“You wouldn't understand. No one did.”
“We all have our stories. You’d be surprised, Bela, at what we understand. We’ve been through a lot.” You said, walking past her and going over to Dean.
“You do realize you just sold the one thing that could save your life,” Dean said.
“I’m aware,” Bela said sadly.
“Well, maybe not the only thing…” Sam said with a sigh.
Sam had figured out a way to save Bela’s life and as much as Dean didn’t like it, you three went through with the plan. You four were in the cemetery while Sam was getting everything set up how it was meant to be. Sam was supposed to summon the man who was hanged and since Bela was due to die soon, that brother that killed his own is supposed to show up and then that is when everything is going to go down.
Sam set up a kind of ritual thing in the middle of the cemetery which consisted of five candles, a pentagram, and a bowl which Sam poured some type of red liquid into it and you did not want to know what was in that thing. Another jar is on the opposite side of the circle with herbs in it. You looked over at Bela and saw her get impatient.
“Do you really think this is going to work?” She asked.
“Almost definitely not,” Dean grumbled, leaning against one of the headstones, his shotgun lying across his shoulder from behind. You were standing next to him, leaning into his body and Bela looked over at him and glared. Suddenly, the wind started to pick up and rain started pouring. This was not a good sign at all.
“Sam, you better start reading.” You said, knowing that the spirit was going to show up soon and kill Bela. Sam started saying the ritual and as the rain fell harder and the wind picked up speed, Sam’s words grew louder each time.
“Stay close!” Dean yelled at Bela and you picked up your shotgun from the grass, ready for anything that came your way.
“Behind you!” Bela shouted and you turned around to see the ghost that killed Peter. You raised your gun but you weren’t quick enough and the spirit threw you against a few headstones and you groaned out in pain. You looked up to see the same thing happen to Dean. Sam looked up to see this happening and read faster. The spirit rushed to Bela and grabbed her face. You knew she wouldn’t be able to fight back since she wasn’t a hunter, technically.
Bela began coughing up water, paralyzed to take only what the spirit gave her. Bela fell to her knees and you grunted as you got up, reaching for your gun.
“Sammy, read faster!” Dean yelled at his brother. Suddenly, the rain stopped and the spirit took his hand off Bela’s face which made her cease her coughing. At least now, it wasn’t that bad. The spirit slowly turned around to see his brother, the one he hanged. You gasped and finally staggered onto your feet, walking over to Dean who put a hand on your shoulder.
“Are you okay?” He asked.
“Yeah, are you?” He nodded in response to your answer.
“You... hanged me!” The brother gasped.
“I’m sorry,” The captain said.
“Your own brother…”
“I’m so sorry!” The brother who was hanged charged at the captain and as soon as they touched, they both dissolved into screamed and a splash of water. You looked over at Bela to see her no longer coughing. The wind was gone and so was the rain. You sighed and looked at Sam to see his shoulder’s sag.
This was all over.
The next day, you didn’t know where Bela went to after the big showdown but you, Sam and Dean were packing so that you could get the hell out of this town. You were almost finished packing when the door opened and Bela waltzed in.
“You should learn to lock your doors. Anyone could just barge in.”
“Anyone just did. Did you come to say goodbye or thank you?” You said, barely glancing her way.
“I’ve come to settle affairs. Giving the spirit what he really wanted, his own brother, very clever, Sam. So here,” Bela said, reaching into her purse. You and the brothers turned to her, wondering what she could possibly give you. She took out wads of money and threw each of you a stack. You caught it and looked at the amount: $5,000.
“It’s fifteen thousand—that should cover it.” She added.
“Why are you giving us this?” You asked, not like you were complaining.
“I don’t like being in anyone’s debt.”
“So, ponying up fifteen grand is easier for you than a simple thank you?” All she did was smile and Dean shook his head. “You're so damaged.”
“Takes one to know one. Goodbye lads, Y/N.” Bela’s smiled widened and she turned around, leaving the place.
“She’s got style, you gotta give her that,” Sam said, putting the money in his duffel. You looked at your money and grinned at Dean.
“What are you grinning about?”
“Now I can take you on a proper date. And I think I know just the date.” Dean smiled and walked over to you, giving you a short but sweet kiss on the lips.
“You know, Y/N, we don’t know where this money has been.” Sam pointed out.
“No, but I know where it's going... A-HA HA!” Dean laughed, getting an idea of where to spend his five grand. You shook your head and grabbed your duffel, walking to the car with the boys, eager to get on the road.
You spent the better part of the day on the road, Dean going to wherever he wanted to go. It was already dark outside and you just found out where Dean wanted to go.
“Seriously? Atlantic City?” Sam asked.
“Hell yeah! Play some roulette. Always bet on black,” Dean grinned, taking a pause before speaking again. “Hey, listen, I've been doing some thinking. Um... I want you to know I understand why you did it. I understand why you went after the crossroads demon. Y/N, I’m not happy you tried to sell your soul for me and if you do that again, I’m going to be the one that kills you. But I understand why you did it.”
You knew that was an empty threat but you nodded your head. Dean wasn’t done speaking though.
“You know, if the situation were reversed, I guess I would have done the same thing. I mean I'm not blind, I see what you're going through with this whole deal, me going away and all that. But you're gonna be okay, sweetheart. You too, Sammy.”
At the mention of this, you got angry, you got tears. How dare he say this?
“You think I’ll be okay? You think I can just go on with my life, knowing you’re not going to be there for me, ever? You think that is going to be okay?” You scoffed.
“Sweetheart, listen, you two are going to be just fine. You’ll both keep hunting and living your life. Hell, you’re both stronger than I am. You are and you’ll get over it. It may not be easy but you’ll get over it. Just like mom… dad… Jessica. You’ll move on with your life. But I want you to know I'm sorry, I’m sorry for... putting you through all this, I am.”
“You know what, Dean? Go screw yourself.” Sam said and you agreed with him.
“What?”
“We don’t want apologies, Dean. We’re big kids now, we can take care of ourselves.” You spoke up.
“Oh, well, excuse me.” Dean scoffed.
“So, would you please quit worrying about me? About us? I mean that's the whole problem in the first place. I don't want you to worry about me, Dean, I want you to worry about you! I want you to give a shit that you’re dying!” Sam yelled, his voice rising at the end.
“Sam is right, Dean. We need you to start giving a shit about your life.” You added, but Dean said nothing.
“So, that's it? Nothing else to say for you?” Sam asked.
“I think maybe I'll play craps,” Dean smirked. Your mouth opened at how lightly he was taking this whole thing. Sam shook his head, clearly outraged but looked out the window. You kept staring at Dean and when he thought no one else was looking, his smile faded and you saw him gulp.
You slid over to the driver’s side, putting your mouth between Dean’s ear and the window before whispering.
“You know, this whole façade you’re putting up is shit, Dean. I know you better than anyone, so don’t think you got me fooled. I will not stop trying to give you your life back because you are worth it. You break my heart when you say things like this.” You pulled away from him and you met his eyes in the rearview mirror. You let a tear fall, making sure he saw it before looking away.
The year is halfway up and you still had no clue what to do in order to save his life.
this is my first post
Hullo. This is my 3rd time rewriting this, because sumthin’ kept fucking up every time I tried to write it. But let’s hope this time goes smoothly cause I got a lot to say. I don’t have anywhere else to put this, so I decided, why not come to Tumblr and see what everyone else thinks. So, let’s get started. I have been a Gleek since I was in 6th grade. And as much as I know that the show is cringey and hard to watch, my sister and I genuinely enjoyed it (although now we mostly watch it ironically). And we always had a favoritism system going, our favorite characters were blatantly obvious, and we were fishing for least favorite characters when we could. So, our lists of favorite characters/ships looked a little something like this: Favorites: -Kurt Hummel -Finn Hudson -Rachel Berry -Santana Lopez -Brittany S Pierce -Blaine Anderson Least favorites: -Quinn Fabray -Noah Puckerman -Terry Schue -Sue Sylvester -Jessie St James -Sebastian Smythe Favorite ships: -Finchel -Klaine -Brittana -Wemma And even though that doesn’t seem like there’s anything wrong with that set up in particular, I’m going to explain to you why my views have changed. Especially on my least favorite characters. And disclaimer!! Any and all of these characters that I list on my least favorites have nothing to do with race, gender, disability, sexuality etc. They are solely based on personality and how their actions affected others. That’s it. That’s what I’m basing it off of. Same goes for my favorite characters as well. And believe me I will give a lengthy explanation for each and every one of them I promise. So I’m going to be listing the least favorites from LEAST bad/toxic to MOST bad/toxic. And don’t be upset if one of your favorites are on here. Just because I don’t like them doesn’t mean you can’t like them. Just make that clear. These are only things that I’ve picked up and I’ve noticed throughout the show and watching back important clips and such from the show. Coming in at #7: Mercedes Jones: I know what’s coming already. And I’m going to have to tell y’all this loud and clear. Mercedes is not a diva. She’s just a bitch. I’ve never liked Mercedes, and not because she was black, but just because she had an awful personality and she was awful to the people around her. I think the only time I really saw her being nice to someone was when she was dating Sam, or when she was dating that football player. And a few times when she was with Kurt. The main problem I have with her is in S1E3: Bust Your Windows, she busted Kurt’s front windshield all because he had a crush on someone else. And I can guarantee you guys this. If a guy did that to a girl, like if Kurt had done that to Mercedes instead, y’all would’ve been outraged. She had no reason to bust his window like that and then get all sassy to him when he got upset about it. Coming in at #6: Santana Lopez: And this is another character that y’all are so set on saying that she’s a diva. But no. Santana is a straight up bitch. And before you guys say “she was closeted/insecure/outed!” etc, Kurt was also insecure and closeted in the first season and he was never rude to anybody in the way Santana was. And secondly, Finn didn’t out her until S3E6: Mash Off, and I can tell you she had been acting like a huge bitch way before then. All I have to do is pull up all of the times she’s been anti-semetic to Rachel, fatphobic to Finn and Lauren, attacked people’s insecurities and was just being god awful. One of my least favorite scenes from her is when she went on that entire rant about why Blaine and Kurt didn’t work out, and she attacked Kurt’s teeth, his sexuality, his dancing, his s3xual appeal, and just about everything Kurt was insecure about. All because he said that he thought Santana and Brittany were too young to get married. And I honestly agreed with him, Britt and San were 19. Definitely too young to get married, and Kurt was just trying to relate his failure with Blaine to warn them that getting married this young wasn’t something that they wanted to do. But no. Santana didn’t listen to him trying to reason with her, she just told him basically “you suck, Blaine really hates you, get your crap together.” And I have always had a problem with it. Not to mention she called Quinn a slut. And no matter what situation you are in, I don’t believe it’s okay to call any girl a slut. Actually, I don’t think it’s okay to call anybody a slut. Because I’m bringing this back. If Finn had called Quinn a slut, you guys would be all over him and cancelling that character so fast, but as soon as Santana says it, it’s okay? That never sat right with me either. And again, the way she relentlessly bullies Rachel for everything she’s insecure about, especially her height and nose is not okay. It doesn’t matter how much you dislike someone. Making fun of her nose to the point where as soon as she breaks it, she’s immediately thinking of getting a nose job. That is not okay. And there’s a speculation that Santana was the one who pushed Rachel over the edge to try and fall into bulimia. And I don’t doubt it. Santana is not a nice person. And her internalised homophobia does not excuse anything that she’s said or done. Not to mention she has Britt wrapped around her finger and she knows that she’ll do anything she asks. Like when Santana was fantasizing about forcing Britt to break up with Artie if she became Prom Queen because it would be “the law of the land” that is absolutely inexcusable. Because we all know Britt is naive and has some sort of DD or autism, and the characters in the show take that and use it to their advantage. Especially Santana. Coming in at #5: Artie Abrams: Now before you come for my ass, let me tell you. I actually used to really like Artie. He was pretty high up on my ranking Glee characters lists that I used to make all the time. But now that I’ve rewatched and I’ve noticed more things, I just cant like him with a good conscience. Remember in season 1 when Tina told him that she doesn’t really have a stutter? Well, if you remember, he broke up with her after that. But if you were closely watching the show, you should’ve realised that Tina has some sort of social anxiety, (not that I’m excusing her faking a disability), but she has a reason for doing it. She (presumably) took up the stutter because she needed a way to avoid having to speak so much in public. Which is totally understandable! Artie didn’t have to break up with her. She confided in him to finally tell him what she had been hiding for so long and he just breaks up with her??? Are you kidding? That just goes to show that one of the only reasons he was dating her was because of her disability. If he broke up with her so fast for not actually having one. Even though she had an actual reason that she did it. Another thing about Artie that I hate is that he called Britt stupid. And that is a huge deal. Everyone in the school calls Britt stupid or something along those lines (even Santana) and as soon as she finds the one guy who doesn’t think that way of her, he breaks her trust. She technically did cheat on him, but as I said earlier, she bends to Santana’s every order and she has some sort of DD or autism and didn’t understand that it was cheating. She even told Artie she didn’t understand it. And instead of sitting her down and explaining to her and giving her a second chance to prove her new knowledge to good use, he just calls her stupid and makes her cry. And then this one is obvious. Artie didn’t fucking wear c0ndoms while he was having s3x with those two girls in New York and didn’t actually tell them he had chlamydia. Which just pissed me off so much it makes me angry just talking about it. Coming in at #4: Finn Hudson: Oh ho ho. Finn Hudson makes me so angry. Let me just start off with everything he did (and didn’t do) to/for Kurt. Starting with the infamous “faggy scene” after Kurt tried to make amends with Finn for all the arguing they had been doing by redecorating their room. As ugly as it looked (lmao), he did his best to try and appeal to what a straight guy would like without making it too masculine so he would feel comfortable sleeping in there too. He tried to appeal to Finn’s interests as well as his own and had to do it all on short notice. But as soon as Finn saw it, the first thing he said was “are you freaking insane?” and Kurt just deflated. If you watch the scene, you can see it. You can physically see Kurt’s hard work all go to waste because of that comment. But then Finn follows it up with saying “I can’t live here, I’m a dude.” That line for me is the one that really made me dislike Finn very very strongly, because he not only said Kurt wasn’t a man to his face, he also views Kurt as nothing but his sexuality. That is further proven when he describes how uncomfortable he is around Kurt just because Kurt has a crush on him. And yes, Kurt was creepy, but after then, when they started living together, he just tried his best to make Finn feel as welcome and as comfortable as he can make him feel. But then sees that everything has been pointless, because Finn makes it a point to tell him that he puts his underwear on in the shower before he comes out when Kurt’s around. And that’s just fucked up. And a lot of people say that Finn “didn’t mean it” when he said the f-slur, but let me tell you something. You don’t just accidentally say something twice out of anger. If you really didn’t mean it, you would apologise right when it left your mouth. But Finn’s lack of an apology only proves that he meant every word of what he said. Next is when Finn refused to help Kurt out with Karofsky. I can only talk briefly about this because it actually makes me so fucking mad I can’t explain it. So, Rachel asks him to help Kurt out and confront Karofsky, right? And Finn refuses. Because, and I quote: “We both know I can help him more if I stay on top.” And I think he even says “Kurt will be fine” too, completely ignoring the fact that Kurt is so terrified to go to school, he’s losing weight (there are speculations that he cuts), but Finn doesn’t care about that. He only cares about the fact that he needs to stay popular. Oh and the fact that Karofsky plays right guard and wont guard him during the football game is he’s pissed and they’ll lose. He picks FOOTBALL and POPULARITY over his soon-to-be stepbrother’s MENTAL/EMOTIONAL/PYSICAL H E A L T H. I cannot explain how angry that makes me. Not to mention, the amounts of times he’s played victim. Especially with Rachel. One time that really pisses me off is when he goes “have you ever thought about what I’m going to do in New York?” and Rachel starts stammering over herself and assuring him that she’ll find something that he fits into since he doesn’t know what he’s going to do with his future. And then he asks her about California and Puck’s pool business. Even though he knows Rachel has been set on New York and NYADA since she was a little girl. He knows that she has all of those ambitions and she has an entire plan in her life and she’s already trying to shift those plans to fit Finn in with her. And for him to tell her that he wants her to give all of that up to come with him and Puck to California is actually more selfish than Rachel is. Oh! And not to mention he outed Santana too. Let’s not forget that. In front of basically the whole damn school too. He also kissed Emma. And he also cheated on Rachel with Quinn. And then actually broke up with Rachel when she made out with Puck a bit because she wanted to get him back for cheating on her and sleeping with Santana (even though it doesn’t excuse what she did at all, I just think Finn was being a hypocrite.) And he also cheated on Quinn with Rachel in the first season, and he led Rachel on for the entire first season, Or most of it at least. Coming in at #3: Mr. Schue: I’m just gonna speed through this: -He was a creep/pedo with both the girls and the boys -He had a savior complex and tried to force Emma’s OCD away and fix it instead of help her -He encouraged Emma’s crush on him even while he was married -He twerked with a bunch of minors -Suspended a minor for not wearing a bra she was uncomfortable in -He dealt really badly with Rachel’s crush on him -Never listened to his students’ input -hallucinated children while he was sick -Was very awkwardly touchy with his students -His best friend was 19 -refused to stop twerking even when offered the exchange for a trans student to use a staff bathroom to avoid getting bullied -overreacted after finding out Terry wasn’t pregnant Now the moments you’ve all been waiting for. Coming in at #2: Noah Puckerman: Now I was stuck on Puck for a while, I didn’t think he really was that bad of a guy for a long time. But just one thing Quinn says was enough to sway me and put him this high on my list. In one of the earlier episodes, Puck starts teasing her and being a dick after finding out she’s pregnant. And so she says: “You got me drunk off of wine coolers and I was feeling fat that day...” Now if you break that sentence down, she literally says “you got me drunk.” implying that Puck himself wasn’t drunk when this all took place. Meaning, Noah Puckerman r@ped Quinn Fabray. She never cheated on Finn. Puck purposely got her drunk just so he could get what he wanted. Especially considering she never put out and she was president of the Celibacy Club. Now must I say anything else? No. I didn’t think so. And finally, coming in at #1: Blaine Anderson: I know Blaine is everyone’s smol bean gay bb boy. (*gag) but I have to tell you that he is not a good person whatsoever. I’ll give him credit though. In the 2nd season he was really sweet and I actually really liked him. But as the seasons progressed, he got worse. In S3E5, Blaine and Kurt go to a gay bar together, and Kurt helps Blaine out after he gets too drunk. Then as soon as he tries to get Blaine in the car, Blaine starts coming onto him and kissing his neck and trying to convince him to have s3x with him, even though Kurt keeps repetitively saying no. And then he plays the victim after Kurt blows up at him and says “well I’m sorry for trying to be spontaneous and fun!” and then proceeds to walk home, getting mad at Kurt for nothing. Then in another episode. I think it was later in season 3, Kurt meets Chandler. And Blaine had been ignoring him for a while before that, so Kurt starts talking to Chandler only because he makes him feel good about himself. And he obviously thought it was okay because Blaine did the same thing with Sebastian but called him all the time and flirted with him and dirty danced with him etc. So when Blaine goes through Kurt’s phone, he finds the messages and makes a huge deal out of it and accuses Kurt of cheating on him. Then publicly humiliates him in front of the Glee club with a song about cheating. And then proceeds to go and cheat on him anyway. And then as soon as they were going to NYADA together, Blaine didn’t like all the attention Kurt was getting after he started to get more fit and more attractive and he was extremely jealous of him and over protective, not letting Kurt have any other male attention. At all. And Blaine is just super stingy with Kurt and doesn’t let him live his life and then pays victim whenever he gets confronted by him. Oh and not to mention he dated the one person that made Kurt’s life a living hell for the longest time and decided to rub it in his face. So there we have it folks. My new least favorite Glee characters and all the reasons why. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
Since the series sadly failed to really build on Narti as a character, and the fandom as a whole has also failed to really take advantage of her lost potential; what do you think are some key aspects of Narti as a character that can be built up on or were left unexplored? What do you think the limits/logical lengths would her powers go?
Honestly, anon, I’m so glad you asked, since I have a whole headcanon with minimal canon warping that I go off of for Narti and her backstory.
Tumblr media
A lot of that involves this handsome fella from s8e3.
Here’s the thing.
Regarding this individual, who I decided to name since canon doesn’t. I call him Avki. We’re told a couple of things about Avki, mostly by Lahn:
We’re told Avki was either synthesized or heavily altered by the empire and was intended to be a weapon
This didn’t work out as intended, because Avki proved aggressive to any and all galra.
We also know a couple of things. Avki is sapient: he is able to hold a conversation with Keith. This also tells us that Lahn is lying when he says that Avki failed as a weapon because it is indiscriminately aggressive. Because Avki obviously evaluates Keith.
If Avki was relying on biological cues to hunt the galra, and merely reacting to any sensory stimuli, Keith should emit enough ‘galra signals’ or at least muddied ones. But Avki doesn’t try to sniff Keith or taste him to see if he’s a galra- they ask him what he is.
That is not the behavior of an indiscriminate monster. It’s the behavior of a person, acting on a grudge. A grudge that Lahn is likely aware of, and is covering himself- implying Lahn knows exactly why Avki’s really angry, and that it’s not a flattering story for him.
Tumblr media
Avki is both strong and fast, has spikes emerging from his shoulders, a primarily bluish hide, a long tail, and a nearly featureless face with sharp teeth. They are also shown to be able to manipulate technology using a purple energy they discharge from their hands.
Tumblr media
Virtually all of this applies to Narti. We don’t know if Narti has spiked shoulders, but we know her pauldrons flare up at the shoulders in a very similar hooked shape to Avki’s shoulders. Like him, she has a long tail, a blue hide, clawed fingers, and a nearly featureless face with a serrated mouth that creates that permanent, immobile “crocodile grin”. Both of them are voiceless and speak through other mediums. Both of them achieve control over those mediums by discharging purple energy from their hands.
But of course, Narti and Avki also look very different. Narti has tripod gripping toes, without claws, only two arms, and a much smaller, lighter build. Part of that might be explained by age- Narti is Pidge’s counterpart, and with the exception of Lotor, it seems like Team Sincline is the same kind of age distribution Voltron is- teenagers, and if Pidge is the youngest of the paladins, Narti, her counterpart, might be the youngest of Sincline. Narti might not be full grown.
Narti, just like Avki, seems to have a grudge on the empire. That’s the easiest explanation for why she would be Lotor’s ally.
Throk also states that the generals are “half-breeds at best” implying at least the possibility some of the generals have very little galra heritage.
So here’s my theory: Narti and Avki are two specimens of, roughly, a synthetic species we’ll call chimeras. The chimeras were developed by the empire as shock troopers, spliced from galra genetics as well as multiple other sources. They have a certain base mixture, and then, from there, individuals are spliced with whatever else they might need. So while Avki is built for size and strength, to the point of needing the addition of an auxiliary pair of arms to not sacrifice motor dexterity, Narti would be built for agility, stealth, and climbing skills. Narti resembles Avki, but she also resembles the bounty hunter from s4e2 and s8e5, while Avki doesn’t. So Hunter’s species is part of Narti’s genetic cocktail, but not Avki’s.
The empire underestimated the chimeras’ intelligence- Lahn talks about Avki like he’s a wild animal and not something that could hold a conversation with Keith- but they also didn’t realize that the chimeras are all natural telepaths. Specifically, the chimeras have a telepathic network that allows them to effortlessly communicate mind to mind with each other as long as they’re on the same planet or in comparable vicinity.
So the chimeras were decently compliant to the empire- until the point that one of them was hurt, possibly cut into in order to create cybernetic enhancements. At that point, that chimera screamed telepathically- and all of the others heard it, and started attacking in retaliation.
This ended in most of the chimeras being massacred. Some were able to flee and escape to remote locations, while others were discreetly captured during the chaos by ambitious parties like Ranveig who intended to use them. But that grudge never disappeared, and attempts to “reign them in” failed.
(this is a point where I’d start to lean towards rewrite territory around s5e5, and the idea that Krolia actually helped and connected emotionally with Avki, because I both don’t like the idea of, and I think it would be out of character for Krolia, a Blade, to be dismissive of Avki’s suffering)
Conversely, Narti was not actually born yet, stashed inside of a lab somewhere, and she was hidden, but, was aware of the massacre because while she was still developing, she still heard from the others what had happened. Later, Lotor was able to find the lab, and Narti, reading his mind, decided to trust him on the basis that he also was hurt by the empire.
Lotor helped Narti train her telepathy into something she could use as a weapon, which is why she’s able to use it directly on people while Avki does not. She was also able to make a bond similar to the chimera telepathic network with Kova- because Kova’s not a chimera, but, as a quintessence-tinted creature he’s got enough power to make that easy, so they’re telepathically anchored and can freely communicate, and keeping Narti from talking to Kova would require moving them a very long distance away from each other.
Conversely, the connections Narti uses to override people are much shorter-lived, and die if either Narti is distracted or moves a short distance away from them. She can also forcibly let go of them, as demonstrated in s3e6 with Throk.
The other issue though is that certain learned magic users, e.g. Haggar, can also use the same kind of destructive measures against her; which is what Haggar did in s4e3. She sunk a telepathic anchor to Narti, and Narti didn’t really know what Haggar had done or how to get away from it, so just assumed that maybe all she needed to do was get away from central command as fast as possible so her head could stop hurting.
It’s only been a day but you couldn’t find it in yourself to tell Dean you were a kiss away from making a deal with him. If Sam hadn’t shown up or even shown up a few seconds later, your soul would have been sold and Dean would have gotten off scot free. You were hoping to make a deal with her because then you could deal with the after-effects later. Dean would have been pissed but it would have already happened.
You hated keeping secrets from Dean and it was killing you to keep quiet. If Dean didn’t know about this, then you wouldn’t get yelled at and everything can be as normal as things can get. However, Dean wasn’t stupid and you knew he would eventually figure it out.
You three were on your way to a woman’s house whose niece was found dead inside her shower. It seemed a little odd because the woman who died claimed to have seen a ghost ship before she passed and told her aunt about it who told police and press about it. You were almost there but you couldn’t take the tension inside the car. You were about to say something when Dean spoke up.
“So, I’ve been waiting since Maple Springs. You got something you both want to tell me?” You and Sam both looked at each other and it was like you had one of those silent conversations that you only saw Sam and Dean do.
“It’s not your birthday,” Sam spoke up before you could open your mouth. You bit your lip and looked at Dean who rolled his eyes.
“No.”
“Dude, I don't know. I have no idea what you're talking about—” Sam tried to cover but Dean cut him off.
“There are two bullets missing from the Colt. You want to tell me how that happened? I know it wasn’t me. So, unless you were shooting at some incredibly evil cans...”
“Dean…” Sam sighed.
“You went after her, didn’t you? The Crossroads Demon. After I told you not to.”
“Yeah, well…”
“You could have gotten yourself killed!” Dean yelled at his brother.
“Hey, don’t get mad at him. I did it too.” You said so that Sam didn’t have to take all the heat.
“Excuse me? You went after her too? What, why wasn’t I invited to the party?” Dean asked sarcastically.
“Dean, seriously, it’s fine. Sam and I are fine. It’s not like one of us tried to sell our soul for you.” You laughed nervously but you winced when you knew you revealed too much.
“What did you just say?” Dean asked, glaring at you through the rearview mirror.
“Dean, don’t—” Sam tried to cover for you.
“Sammy, shut up. Y/N?”
“Look, she said my soul is much more valuable than yours. I don’ know what the hell that means but if it gets you out of your deal, I would have done it.”
“Fuck! Y/N, why would you do that? You could have gotten killed! You do not put my life in front of yours. That is not how this works.”
“That is how a relationship works, Dean. I think your life is much more valuable than mine. I love you and I would do anything for you. You have to know this.” You argued. Dean clenched his jaw and he shook his head, looking out his window before looking at you again. He shook his head once more and looked at Sam.
“So, you killed her. I’m assuming you got the job done the second time. Well? Am I out of my deal?” Dean asked, ignoring you for right now.
“Don’t you think I would have mentioned that little detail earlier? No, she doesn’t hold the contract. Someone else does.”
“Who?”
“She wouldn’t tell me.”
“Well, we should find out who. Of course, our best lead would be the Crossroads Demon. Oh, wait a minute...”
“That’s not funny,” you spoke up.
“No, it’s not! It was a stupid fucking risk and you shouldn’t have done it!” Dean scolded you and Sam like you were kids. “Who knows what could have happened to you if you didn’t kill her in time?”
“That's not the point, Dean. She’s dead and it’s too late to bring her back now.” You said, slumping in your seat.
“Besides, you’re my brother and her boyfriend, Dean. You’re our family. No matter what you do or what you say, we’re going to try and save you. And we’re sure as hell not going to apologize for it.” Sam said, ending this conversation.
Nothing else was said for the rest of the car ride.
The woman you were interviewing was named Gertrude Case, Gert for short. By the looks of it, she was a very wealthy woman and looked to be about 70 years old. From the very beginning, when you, Sam and Dean showed up, she took a liking to Sam and has been flirting with him ever since. You three were impersonating officers of the law to get her talking. But it seems as if people were here before you.
“But I don't understand. I already went over all this with the other detectives.” Gert said, looking at Sam.
“Right, yes, but we’re with the Sheriff’s Department, not the police department. It’s very different.” Dean explained, hoping she would just drop it.
“So, Mrs. Case…” Sam began.
“Please,” Gert said with a wave of her hand. She smiled seductively at Sam. “Ms. Case.”
Okay. Um, Ms. Case, um...” Sam gulped and you grinned, watching this little exchange. “You were the one who found your niece, correct?”
“I came home and she was in the shower.”
“Drowned?” Sam asked.
“That's what the coroner says. Now, you tell me, how can someone drown in the shower?” Ms. Case put her hand on Sam’s arm and he stiffened but didn’t make a move to get her off.
“How would you describe Sheila's behavior in the days before her death? I mean, did she seem frightened? Maybe she said something out of the ordinary, or...?” Sam asked, looking down at her.
“Wait a minute,” Gert said, taking her hand off Sam. “You’re working with Alex, aren’t you?”
“Yes, absolutely. Alex and us, we’re like this,” Dean stated, crossing his fingers together to show the bond between this person named Alex and the three of you.
“Why didn't you say so? Alex has been such a comfort. But I’m sorry. I thought the case was solved.”
“Uh, well, no. Not yet, anyway.” You said, making her smile at you.
“I see.”
“So, anyway, we were talking about your niece,” Sam said, getting her back on track.
“Well, yes. Sheila mentioned something quite strange before she died. She said she saw a boat.”
“A boat?” Dean asked, playing along, even though you already knew this.
“Yes. One minute it was there, then it was gone. It just disappeared right before her eyes. You think it could be a... ghost ship? Alex thinks it could be a ghost ship.” Gert explained, keeping her eyes on Sam the whole time, even though it was Dean who was talking.
“Well, um… could be.” Sam said, gulping under her stare.
“Well. You let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.” Gert traced a finger slowly along Sam’s hand and you could clearly tell he was uncomfortable about all of this. You giggled slightly and that made Sam glare at you while Dean just smirked at his brother. “Anything at all.”
“Well, we should get going. We do have a case to solve.” You said and Sam was glad he had an excuse to get away from her. She smiled and waved to Sam as you three left.
“I think it’s best if we go down to the docks and ask about this so-called ghost ship.” You suggested and thankfully, they all agreed.
“What a crazy old broad,” Dean said while you and Sam walked with him from the docks. You looked around to see very high-end scale boats, not too big but not small either. These people have money, that’s for sure. You three had just gotten done talking to the crew down there while Sam did some extra digging around.
“Why? Because she believes in ghosts?”
“Look at you,” Dean laughed. “Sticking up for your girlfriend. You cougar hound.”
“Bite me,” Sam said, unimpressed.
“Aw, don’t be like that, Sam. She really liked you. You know, you could get out of the house and into some woman’s arms. She could be the one for you.” You grinned, teasing him.
“I’m serious,” Sam said.
“So, who's this Alex? We got another player in town?” Dean asked, changing the subject.
“Maybe, maybe not. Doesn’t change our job.” Sam stated.
“And what looked like a ghost ship, right?” You asked.
“Yeah, it’s not the first sighting either.”
“Really?” Dean asked, surprised.
“Yeah, every 37 years, like clockwork, reports of vanishing three-mast clipper ship is out in the bay. And every 37 years, a rash of weirdo, dry-land drownings.” Sam informed you and Dean.
“So, whatever's happening is just getting started,” Dean observed.
“Yeah.”
“What the lore on this kind of thing?” You asked Sam since he would know all about this before you and Dean do.
“Well, there are apparitions of old wrecks sighted all over the world. The S.S. Violet, the Griffin, the Flying Dutchman—almost all of them are death omens.”
“So, what happens? You see the ship and then a few hours later, you pucker up and kiss your ass goodbye?” Dean said.
“Sounds like it to me.” You said, getting closer to where Dean parked the car.
“What’s the next step?” Dean asked.
“I gotta I.D. the boat.”
“That shouldn’t be too hard. I mean, how many three-mast clipper ships have wrecked off the coast?” Dean asked, scoffing a bit at the end.
“I checked that too, actually. Over one hundred and fifty.”
“Fuck, that’s a lot.” You said, sighing.
“Yeah,”
“Shit,” Dean muttered. You walked to the place where you thought Dean parked the car but Baby wasn’t there. You frowned, looking around to check if this was the place the car was left.
“This is where we parked the car, right?” Dean asked. You looked at him and you could see the beginnings of a rage coming along.
“I thought so,” Sam said, looking at you before going back to Dean.
“Where's my car?” Dean asked you two, his face getting red.
“Did you feed the meter?” Sam asked.
“Yes, I fed the meter. Sam, Y/N, where is my car. Somebody stole my CAR!” Dean went into a full panic now. He started to breathe faster like you did when you had a panic attack.
“Hey, Dean, listen, calm down, okay?” You said, going over to him. He was full on hyperventilating now.
“I am calmed down! Somebody stole my ca—”
“The ’67 Impala? Is that yours?” At the sound of her voice, all three of your heads turned to the one woman that you didn’t like.
Bela.
“Bela,” Sam said, tight-lipped.
“I'm sorry. I had that car towed.” She said with a smirk.
“You what?!” Dean yelled at her.
“Well, it was in a tow-away zone.”
“No, it wasn’t!” Dean glared at her.
“It was when I finished with it,” Bela smirked even more. You glared at her and as about to pounce on her for shooting you in the arm but Sam and Dean held you back, even though Dean wanted to hurt her for what she did.
“What the hell are you even doing here?” Dean asked when he got his breathing back to normal.
“A little yachting,” Bela said flippantly.
“You're Alex. You're working with that old lady,” Sam said, putting two and two together.
“Gert’s a dear old friend.”
“Yeah, right. What’s your angle?” Dean asked.
“There's no angle. There's a lot of lovely old women like Gert up and down the eastern seaboard. I sell them charms and perform séances so they can commune with their dead cats.”
“And let me guess, it's all a con, none of it's real.” Dean rolled his eyes.
“The comfort I provide them is very real,” Bela smirked.
“Fuck you,” You spat, glaring at her.
“How do you sleep at night?” Sam asked at the same time you spoke.
“On silk sheets, rolling naked in money. Really, Sam. I'd expect the attitude from Dean and Y/N, but you?”
“You shot her!” Sam defended you.
“I barely grazed her.”
“Why don’t I barely graze you?” You said, reaching for your gun from behind but Dean and Sam stopped you from actually taking it out.
“Cute. But a bit of a drama queen, yeah?” Bela asked Dean with a sweet smile.
“You do know what's going on around here. This ghost-ship thing, it is real.”
“I'm aware. Thanks for telling Gert the case wasn't solved, by the way.”
“Aw, did that put you in a bit of a pickle? Too bad.” You sneered but Bela sighed.
“She didn't need to know that. Now the old bag's stopped payment and she's demanding some real answers. Look... just stay out of my way before you cause any more trouble. I'd get to that car if I were you... before they find the arsenal in the trunk. Ciao.” Bela smirked and she walked away with you glaring at her.
“Can I shoot her?” You and Dean both said at the same time.
“Not in public,” Sam answered.
The next day, you found out there was another victim who was drowned in his bathroom, even though there was no water to be around. It didn’t look like the tub was on or even the shower so you didn’t know how he drowned or what the cause of it was. You and the Winchesters were all dressed up and got out of the car, that Dean had to pay to get back, and walked to the victim’s house to see Bela was already there.
You smirked, seeing how she was pretending to be a reporter, interviewing the victim’s brother, Peter Warren. Amateur.
“I am so sorry for your loss, Mr. Warren. Now, if you could just tell me one more time about the ship your brother saw.” Bela asked the distraught man. Before Peter could say anything, you and the brothers walked up to Bela and flashed your badges to the man while you smirked at Bela.
“Ma'am, I think this man's been through quite enough. You should go.” You said to her.
“But I just have a few more questions.” Bela tried saying.
“No, you don’t,” Sam said firmly.
“Thank you for your time,” Bela said to Peter but was looking at you and the Winchesters. She was sending you daggers with her eyes but you couldn’t care less. You stared at her as she walked past you and you raised one eyebrow as if to challenge her.
“Sorry, you had to deal with that. They're like roaches,” Dean said, making sure Bela heard him when he said the word ‘roaches’.”
“So, we heard you say your brother saw a ship,” Sam said, leading Peter away.
“Yeah, that’s right.”
“Did he tell you what it looked like?” Dean asked.
“It was, uh... like the old Yankee clippers. A smuggling vessel. The rakish topsail and a barkentine rigging. Angel figurehead on the bow.” The man described. You furrowed your brow. If his brother saw it, then this was a lot of detail. Unless…
“That’s a lot of detail for a ship your brother saw.” You said to Peter.
“My brother and I were night diving. I saw the ship, too.” That is what you were afraid of. You exchanged a look with the brothers but noticed Bela hadn’t left yet. You watched her talking to the real policemen, pointing at you, Dean and Sam. You nudged Sam and Dean and they saw what you were looking at.
“Alright. Well, we'll be in touch.” Dean said and Peter nodded.
“Thank you,” Sam noted. He turned around and walked away with you and Dean before the real officers could catch you and cause a scene.
“We have to come back here when it isn’t crawling with cops… or Bela.” You whispered to them as you walked back to the car. Dean parked the car far enough so that the cops wouldn’t see what was in the back of the trunk and they wouldn’t be suspicious of you. Dean opened the trunk and the secret compartment that held all the weapons, handing you and Sam a shotgun and started loading his with rock salt, you and Sam doing the same.
“I see you got your car back,” Bela said from behind you. You were standing in between the brothers but you didn’t look back at her.
“Do you really want to come near me when I got a loaded gun in my hands?” Dean scolded.
“Wouldn’t want you to get hurt, now would we?” You added.
“Now, now. Mind your blood pressure. Why are you even still here? You have enough to I.D. the boat.”
“That guy back there saw the ship,” Sam said.
“Yeah? And?” Bela asked. You scoffed and set your gun down before turning around.
“You see, Bela, that man is going to die. And we are going to help him because that is what we do. We don’t steal from people and make money off the items we steal. And we especially aren’t you. We actually care for the people involved. You don’t care and you should really stay out of our way and let us do our jobs.” You glared at her before turning around.
“Hmm, how sweet,” Bela said sarcastically, even though your words affected her.
“You think this is funny?” Dean asked.
“He's cannon fodder. He can't be saved in time, and you know it.”
“Yeah, well, see, we have souls, so... we're gonna try,” you said, turning to look at her. “Do you have a soul, Bela?” You could see, in her eyes, a strong emotion. You didn’t know what it was or what you said that made her feel this way but you didn’t want to know it. Well, actually, you did because even though she shot you if you could help her, you would. That’s the type of person you are.
“Yeah, well, I'm actually going to find the ship and put an end to this. But you have fun.” Bela said, staring into your eyes. Dean nodded and closed the trunk, Sam getting inside the passenger’s seat. You walked past Dean and placed your gun in the backseat, looking at Dean and Bela.
“Hey, Bela, how'd you get like this, huh? What, did Daddy not give you enough hugs or something?” Dean asked but Bela smirked. It looked like she was hurt by this but she didn’t show it.
“I don't know. Your daddy give you enough? Don't you dare look down your nose at me. You're not better than I am.”
“We help people.” You said.
“Come on,” Bela scoffed. “You do this out of vengeance and obsession. You're all a stone's throw from being a serial killer. Whereas I, on the other hand, I get paid to do a job and I do it. So, you tell me—which is healthier?”
“Bela, why don't you just leave? We've got work to do.” You frowned.
“Yeah. You're 0 for 2. Bang-up job so far.” Bela said right before she left. You and Dean shared a look before he got inside the car. You took a seat before Dean started up the car.
“Why does she get on my nerves so much?” You said but neither brother answered you.
When nightfall came, Dean was parked outside of Peter’s place, watching his house for any signs of distress. You’ve been here for about 2 hours but nothing has happened yet. You and Dean were clearly bored from sitting there but Sam was doing research, like the nerd he is.
“Anything good?” Dean asked Sam.
“No, not really. I mean, both brothers are Duke University grads. No criminal record. I mean, besides a few speeding tickets. They inherited their father's real estate fortune six years ago.”
“How much?” You wondered.
“$112 million.”
“Damn, nice life.” Dean whistled.
“Yeah. I mean, nice, clean, and aboveboard. So why did they see the ship? Why Sheila, too? What do they all have in common?”
“Maybe nothing.” Dean thought.
“That’s never the case, Dean and you know it. There is always something.” You pointed out.
“Hey, you!” All heads turned towards Peter, who was walking to the gate. He has spotted you and the brothers. You sighed and bit your lip, hoping this wouldn’t backfire on you.
“I think we've been made,” Dean said before you and Sam followed his move and got out of the car before approaching the gate.
“What are you guys doing?! You watching me?” Peter asked angrily.
“Sir, calm down, please,” Sam tried.
“You guys aren't cops! Not dressed like that. Not in that crappy car.”
“Hey!” You and Dean both said that at the same time but you let Dean finish the thought. “No need to get nasty.”
“We are cops, okay? We're undercover. We're here because we think you're in danger.” Sam explained.
“From who?!”
“If you just settle down, we'll talk about it.”
“Look, you guys just stay away from me!” Peter ran away before you could say anything. He ran to his car and started to drive it towards the gate.
“Wait!” Sam exclaimed.
“Hey, you moron! We're trying to help you!” Dean yelled. As Peter’s car approached the gate, the car suddenly shuddered, coughed and died.
“That can’t be good.” You said.
“No, get the salt gun,” Sam said and you and Dean ran back to the car while Sam tried to get the gate open. You grabbed your gun and Dean grabbed his. You both ran back to the gate to see it already open and Sam gone. You rushed through it and to the car where Sam is kneeling by the driver’s side to see if Peter was okay.
As you got closer, you could see a spirit dressed in an old seaman’s clothes and a navy coat. It looked like he was a sailor of some sort. His long hair dripped in front of his eyes and it looked like he just came out of the ocean or a pool since he was dripping wet.
Dean ran in front of you and pointed the gun at the ghost, calling for Sam to duck. Sam moved out of the way and Dean shot at the ghost but it disappeared before it was hit. Dean shattered the passenger’s side window in the process. You walked to the car and reached inside to unlock the car so that Sam could reach Peter.
Sam pulled Peter back and checked for a pulse but the look Sam gave you and Dean told you that he was dead. You sighed and looked down while Dean kicked the car in frustration.
You were too late.
“Come on, we need to go before someone sees us.” You said. Sam and Dean agreed but they didn’t say a word. None of you said a word until you three got back in the Impala and Dean was driving down the road in the middle of the night, going back to the abandoned house you picked to stay in for the time being. You didn’t have any money to stay at a motel so this is what you had to do.
“When what started out as a mild… severe weather front headed in from the Northwest. Expect heavy lightning and thunder, with sudden rainfall—” The radio host started speaking about the weather but Dean promptly turned off the radio.
“Do you wanna say it, or should I?”
“What?” Sam asked but you kept quiet.
“You can't save everybody, Sam.”
“Yeah, right, so, what, you feel better now or what?”
“No, not really.”
“Me either.” Sam sighed.
“You have to understand…” You started to say but Sam cut you off.
“It’s just lately, I feel like I can't save anybody.” You frowned and scooted closer to Sam and placed a hand on his shoulder, silently letting him know that you were there for him. He didn’t respond to you but he didn’t move you off him either. That was a good sign in your eyes.
The following day, after taking a shower and eating, Sam was reading more about the victims and the case while Dean was on the phone. You were sitting next to Sam even though you weren’t helping him read. He worked better alone anyways. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and you stood up since you were the only one that wasn’t busy.
Both brothers watched you as you walked to the door and opened up the little peephole to see who it was. You rolled your eyes and sighed, closing the peephole and opening the door for Bela who walked inside. Sam and Dean rolled their eyes but didn’t say a thing.
“Dear... God. Are you actually squatting? Charming.” Bela observed.
“What do you want, Bela?” You asked.
“How'd things go last night with Peter?” You glared at her but walked back to Sam, taking your spot again.
“That well, huh?”
“If you say, 'I told you so', I swear to God I'll start swinging,” Dean said once he was off the phone.
“Look, I think the four of us should have a heart-to-heart.”
“That's assuming that you have a heart.” You said.
“Y/N, please... I'm sorry about what I said before, okay? I come bearing gifts.”
“Such as?”
“I’ve ID’d the ship,” Bela spoke as she unzipped a portfolio file before handing it to Sam who was reaching for it. “It's the Espírito Santo, a merchant sailing vessel, quite a colorful history. In 1859 a sailor was accused of treason. He was tried aboard ship in a kangaroo court and hanged. He was 37.”
“Which would explain the 37-year cycle.” You noted.
“Aren't you a sharp tack? There's a photo of him somewhere in there.” Bela said while Sam flipped through the file before landing on the photo of the ghost you saw in Peter’s car right before Dean shot him.
“Isn't that the spirit we saw last night?” You asked the brothers.
“You saw him?” Bela asked, a bit surprised.
“Yeah, that's him, except he was missing a hand,” Dean answered you, ignoring Bela.
“His right hand?” Bela asked.
“How did you know?” Sam wondered.
“The sailor's body was cremated, but not before they cut off his hand to make a hand of glory.”
“A hand of glory? I think I got one of those at the end of my Thai massage last week,” Dean laughed, joking around.
“Dean, the right hand of a hanged man is a serious occult object. It's very powerful.” Sam explained.
“So they say,” Bela said.
“Which officially counts as remains.” You pointed out.
“But still, none of this explains why the ghost is choosing these victims.” Sam sighed.
“I'll tell you why. Who cares? Find the hand, burn it, and stop the bloody thing.” Bela said impatiently.
“I don't get it. Why are you telling us all of this?” Dean asked her.
“Because I know exactly where the hand is.”
“Where?” You asked.
“At the Sea Pines Museum. It's a macabre bit of maritime history. But I need help.”
“What kind of help?” You asked, even though you’d rather not know the answer. All Bela did was smile.
S3e6 Daleks in Manhattan
Relationships: the Doctor x reader, Martha x reader (platonic), Martha x Doctor (platonic)
Summary: s3e6 Daleks in Manhattan rewrite. The end of the episode didn't sit right with me, so l wrote my own.
Warnings: none
"You okay?" you quietly asked the Doctor. You had just left New York, the original this time. One genocide and two almost-genocides, a record you hoped you wouldn't be breaking any time soon.
He had been staring at the console, gaze intense but eyes lost in whatever he'd been thinking. He woke up now and smiled at you, a sad, small thing, then stepped over to you with open arms. You happily obliged his request.
He gripped you tight and sighed into your shoulder. It had been a close call, about ten times - another record you didn't want to break. Ever.
After a while, you pulled apart and then smiled at Martha. You were so ready to go eat something warm and shower and-
"I want to go home," Martha's voice stopped you in your tracks like a punch in the gut.
"Okay," you replied faintly. You didn't know how you had spoken, you didn't know there was any air in your lungs. You felt so, so cold. She has a right to want to leave, you reminded yourself. It's her choice, she has a right to make it. And you have no right to her. None.
The Doctor stood at your shoulder, as silent and as frozen as you. Just staring at her, lost.
"Okay, so..." you looked at the railing on the ground, because if you looked at Martha (dark brown, violet and brilliant) any longer you were going to cry. There was the stinging in your eyes already, you blinked to get rid of it and took a breath.
You tried for a smile. "We'll see you around then," you nodded to yourself, feeling foreign in your own body.
"Wait, why are you-" She furrowed her brows in confusion. "I'm not leaving," she started, unsure if you were thinking what she thought you were thinking.
That made both the Doctor and you look up at her.
Seeing your reaction, she repeated, "I'm not leaving." Then she made sure to look both of you in the eye, "I'm just going home to pack, l didn't really take anything with me when l left, just my jacket," she explained, gripping the said jacket's rims to remind you.
Her words were like the sun coming out of the clouds. You breathed in surprised relief, head spinning from the emotional rollercoaster.
"Ooh..." the Doctor breathed.
"Wait, you guys thought- Why would you think- I'm just going home to get some clothes and a toothbrush!" Martha exclaimed, grinning in confusion. When she had asked to go home to pack she really hadn't been expecting this.
The Doctor and you kept nodding, embarassed by this whole... thing, and so releaved.
"Yeah, yeah I just..." you started while wringing your palms, not really sure what you would to say next.
"Oh my god, come here," she laughed at you in exasperation and pulled you both in a hug. You gratefully returned it, grinning into her shoulder.
When you parted, she laughed again and squeezed your arm. "Now take me home and dont you dare nock anything over when you land," she looked at the Doctor in all seriousness.
He grinned with bright glee in his brown eyes, "Your wish is my command," and pulled the lever.
