That's bad take... considering those networks and streaming platforms have hundreds of shows to choose from and greelight (no doubt a huge chunk of them completely non-serialized) and they still end up choosing shows that they'll later destroy and abondon. Also, Final Space has also been cancelled even though Rick and Morty is confirmed to be just fine merge or not, won't be suprised if Disenchanted will be next. Furthermore, it's overly suspicious when shows like Svtfoe actually do get season 4 which is missing (apparently) its lore expert and "goes all out" with dumped down versions of characters and lore with a politically-correct messages at the heigh of anti-trump era, but do only as much as Owl House hint at the bigger, awesome story going forward or Andrias' amazing hardcore villainous shonenigans with hints of space robot conuests at the end of S2 of Amphibia... and it's suddenly scary for kids and innapropiate content and unfit of the brand. Funny. And we talk about the same kids who - in other shows deemed OK - are exposed to the same kind of content or violence or serialized plot even, nevermind that kids these days in the age of Internet are and will be exposed to far worse thanks to games, various videos they can access and - what didn't change - movies available on TVs and their parents' streaming services. So no, it's not about kids. It's about this compulsive need to keep the viewers dumb/don't help them cope and educate because that's not the goal, the goal is to milk them, you cancel one story who cares they'll be back for another and also.if you never give any show a chance to go all out with multi-season story from start to finish, well, you also keep the expectations low (but also lower the curve of the creative imagination/forward thinking, young person who experienced only short simpler narratives won't be the same as the one who has gone through more complex and nuanced longer narratives). Despite what people like to think - kids aren't so dumb (or at least they have the potential not to be). They just don't have the agency enough (or need enough) to raise their voices online and in fandoms even if they like those shows. That doesn't mean they don't enjoy serialized and nuanced content.
But still, even then... expectations are already big and animation has gone a long way. They do realize that. This is why they greenlight those kinda shows in the first place. It's about the hype and apparances. And they do generate that. But then they also want to hit the breaks apparently, once the show has become "old news" and once it's become "dangerous" because it keeps on giving and becoming even more amazing and story-driven and seriously they can't let those shows become more famous and critically acclaimed than their one-dimensional franchise princesses movies etc. Better to let them burn or end prematurely. Even though it was only two seasons imagine the impact Gravity Falls had on almost eveyone. But yeah, it was a good piece of work, from start to finish, and the first of its kind. Now it's harder to move forward if they keep on cancelling etc. The show cancelled or otherwise messed up is not the same impact. So when you keep that in mind it's interesting everything that's happening. Can't be 100 percent sure that's how the suits think but it's a viable scenario after so many similar cases now.
But then again, it's no surprise. The war against true and deep creativity full of care (not just supefficial) is practically everywhere and it's becoming only more apparent when it's not just creativity as in art/entertaiment but also the way people think. Dump them down is a prominent trend, whether that's from a political/business front or your fellow men trying to keep their world the way it was before and rebel against novel creative ideas and ways of thinking.
Something’s Been Bothering Me About How Story Driven Cartoons Are Being Treated
Owl House - 3rd season reduced to 3 40 minute specials Infinity Train - Cut short in the middle of the story Tangled the Series - 3rd season was shorter than the first two seasons and half the 3rd season was aired in 2 weeks Steven Universe - Got major cuts and had to fight to get the content it got out So the connection between these shows is that one way or another these shows get cut short and become the victims of the Networks meddling. We know that the general reasoning behind this is “Networks want episodic shows not serialized and want to appeal to a younger audience, these shows appeal to older audiences than what the networks want” And to that statement I have a question: Why can’t we have both? I understand the need for Networks to have shows that are easy to rerun, appeal to a widespread of kids and sell toys. But are these Networks seriously going to cut off a large demographic of their audience to appeal to just kids? Are we really not going to get anymore cartoons that teenagers and young adults can enjoy?  But what I really want to know is why can’t we have both? Why is it apparently so hard for networks to sit down and say “Well we’re going to greenlight 3 animated shows so lets have 2 focus on the the kids demographic and greenlight 1 show that would appeal to teenagers and older audiences”. I just don’t see why we have to greenlight a bunch of “kid shows” instead of just greenlighting a variety of different shows for wider appeal. Making shows for a Younger audience is fine but totally choosing to shut out another potential audience to appeal to kids is just baffling to me when you could easily just choose some cartoons to appeal to younger kids and some cartoons to appeal to older kids/teens/young adults. It just doesn’t feel like it has to be one or the other so I don’t understand why networks feel like it has to be one or the other.

I'm going to say it again because I can't get over it. 'I Know You Know' team deserved better. All members of that group did great, no mistakes, the vocals were great and the rappers did well. Moonbok and Hyunbin showed that they were capable do that kind of poppy/funky concept (which contrasts with what people thought of them) and the vocal line ALL SHOWED THAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY SING IN FALSETTOS. This team needs to debut together!

Don't read this if you don't want to get butthurt: If international fans REALLY stanned talent over visual, yall shoula been outraged that Gunhee, Taedong, Heeseok, Dongsu, Namhyung, Eunki, Donghan, Taewoo, Donghyun, Yehyun, and so many more trainees didn't make it. ALSO, HA SUNGWOON WOULD HAVE SO MUCH MORE SUPPORT INSTEAD OF ALL YALL HYPOCRITES BEING BUTTHURT ABOUT JONGHYUN & SAMUEL NOT GETTING IN.

The vocal line in I Know You Know did soooooooooo well singing their parts. The falsettos were beautifully done. The rappers also did great delivering their lines. The whole team overall was perfect. It showcased what everyone was capable of, despite their talents being overlooked in the past episodes.

Now that the shows over, I’m going to give a shoutout to all the under-appreciated ‘Boy Next Door’ trainees; Wang Minhyuk, Lee Jihan, Jo Sungwook, Choi Taewoong, Lee Youjin, and Lee Gunmin.

THE “I KNOW YOU KNOW” TEAM DESERVED MORE THAN 83 VOTES. K-producers and Mnet hate talent (well Hyungbin and Moon are not the definition of talent but they worked so hard to be disrespected like that).
