Happy 21:43 to S03 of wtFOCK and the most beautiful love story of Sobbe!

Can you imagine it has been four years since season 3? It’s hardly possible to overstate the impact that wtFOCK s03 has had on our lives. It has created an online community that lives on till this day. I’ve been honored in the past year to provide two tours around all the special locations for friends who came here from Italy, Germany, and even the United States! That people from as far away as the United States came to Belgium because of the wtFOCK locations is a testament to just how much this series has impacted our lives. No day passes that I don’t miss the sweetness, softness and unconditional love of Sobbe.  

Sobbe inspires us to be better humans, to be more compassionate and not judge others too quickly. It gave representation and a voice to the LGBT community and to people suffering from mental illnesses.

From the depth of our hearts: Thank you!

So rewatching Game of Thrones rn and how they are all out there using their children as currency with marriage is really fucking with my mind. I mean, I know that’s how it used to be and like depicted in this show, here, I get that they did this to ensure alliances between the houses and all, but like these families are already messed up. Family members are already scheming and murdering each other as it is. 

And now you’re telling me that adding in to your family the girl who lost her entire family because yours murdered them is a supposedly sound and legit idea? That’s what’s supposed to bring peace and end conflict? 

That’s literally adding drama to your already existing drama. 

And you’re surprised when not everyone is a happy camper and more scheming and murders are occurring. Like. WHAT.

Your dislike for Clarke is inspiring. I haven't watched the show since season 3 I think, but I stopped liking her in season 1, so yah. Raven deserved lead.

Raven had the potential to become the sci-fi female lead.

An impoverished girl that grew up with an alcoholic, neglectful mother and managed to grow into a strong yet kindhearted woman? A downright genius latina mechanic that inspires admiration and respect and saves the day time after time? A disabled woman with chronic pain that simply does not know the meaning of the word give up, because she's a survivor that will always fight for her life no matter what?

She'd be fucking iconic!

Raven is simply too good to be true, and these idiotic writers reduce her to a side character they only remember when someone has to save everyone's asses, torture porn (which is absolutely disgusting) or shoving her with the next insignificant dude that joins the show as a love interest.

But it's not just that Clarke doesn't hold a candle next to Raven of course– though she sure as hell does not. I could handle a character I dislike, we all have one or two of those in every show. It's her sidelining every other character, constantly putting everyone (including Raven and Bellamy that are my favourites) in danger and betraying her people, constantly whining about how she never asked for power yet repeatedly stepping forward as a self-proclaimed leader (and fucking everything up once again) and never ever facing any consequences for her actions.

If you can believe it, I started watching the show more than biased in favour of Clarke. In favour of Bellarke. In favour of Clexa. (you know how hyped up all these are on social media!). As far as I knew when I decided to give the show a shot, it was a surprisingly good teen drama (that many compared to got.... I'm still laughing about that bit) with a badass bisexual lead character. What's not to like?

Needless to say that's....not how I found Clarke. Or the show. By season 3, her arrogance, insufferable entitlement and hypocrisy is so in-your-face I could hardly stand her. (Season 6 is downright comical in that sense, with the writers coming up with a melodramatic martyresque Clarke centred plot to make her come out as the victim, when in last season's finale she sent Raven to get tortured and Bellamy to die in a fighting pit. The lengths to which they'll go to avoid her actually facing the consequences of her actions never cease to amaze me.)

I guess it has to do in big part with how cw shows are in general– no in depth characters that merely serve as puppets to move an action filled plot forward, and zero logical consequence. The 100 feels like watching a Walmart version of the mess that were seasons 7+8 of GoT on a loop. A constant tell-not-show narattive– we'll tell you who's the good guy and who’s the villain, even though our labels don't make much sense as far as the characters’ actions and motivations are concerned.

For example, D&D decide that Dany is the bad guy and start hinting it since season 7, even though her actual actions up to 8x04 directly contradict it. So she's made out to look like an arrogant bitch for not giving some random guy free pass to her resources or agreeing to help him fight some fairytale ice zombies the moment she sees him, her killing enemies in battle after they brutally wipe out her allies is interpreted as some Mad Queen foreshadowing, her not giving North an independence they have no armies to fight for or the skills to negotiate for, is proof that she'll become a tyrant and so on.

And of course the double standards– Dany is mad and too eager to use violence for not mourning her lifelong abuser, killing rapists and crucifying slave masters after they did the same to literal kids, but Sansa and Arya are kweens for smiling after feeding her rapist to his dogs and massacring a room full of people and baking actual human beings into pies respectively. Daenerys shows the signs of a tyrant for executing the men that betrayed their liege lord and butchered their entire House after actually giving them a choice, but Robb barely an imperfect leader for doing the same to Rickard Karstark, without giving him much of a say in the matter either. (The list could go on forever.)

In the same way in the 100 (or in reverse I guess?) Clarke is supposed to be some heroic leader, even though she lets one of her own get executed for a war crime without even demanding (or at least trying to negotiate) that the same price is paid by the opposing side when it comes to their war criminals (especially since this was a war started by the grounders against a group of defenceless teenage refugees in the first place) all to achieve a fragile alliance (btw I'll never forgive the 100 for making me care for Finn McPlainface, whose scenes I could barely watch without falling asleep, but good god, was his death poorly handled. Are these writers ignorant in politics or plain stupid?). After they are betrayed by their ‘allies’ she abandons her people at a crucial time and then.....jumps into bed with the woman that forced her to kill her boyfriend, left them all to die and had her kidnapped (thanks for the quality sapphic rep cw– I hate it). She falls madly in love with her in the span of five days, immediately reclaiming her role as a leader without even asking the actual people she's supposed to lead (and that's just the first three seasons!).

But a hero and a leader she is.

Then there's, once again, the horrifically obvious double standards. How is it possible to blatantly judge your characters based on different standards even within the same season? Clarke can blow up 250+ of her own people to save her ass and nobody even learns about it, much less have her pay the price for her choice. She can literally get into bed with the enemy while insisting on playing leader without asking anyone, and there are no reprecussions whatsoever. But Bellamy’s s03 massacre of an army of people that had repeatedly chased, tortured, killed, threatened and attempted to massacre them repeatedly (and were once again doing that at the time of Bellamy’s actions), will be brought up again and again and again in future seasons because it makes him a Dark Character Beyond Redemption, which the audience isn't allowed to forget.

Or Pike– a refugee that witnessed countless of his own people persecuted and violently murdered by the locals from the moment he stepped foot on the ground is straight up portrayed as shady for distrusting them (never mind Sky people were once again threatened with a massacre at the time). He was literally paralleled to Trump by this hellish fandom (while mass murderer Lexa is supposed to be some Flower Power Badass Queen I guess) and shoved a shitty trope of the xenophobic entitled colonizer, straight up ignoring the show's context (how anyone could make the Skaikru/colonizers and grounders/Native Americans parallels with no shame is beyond me, but apparently some people have difficulty differentiating between colonizers and refugees, as if the two are even remotely close). I'm not excusing anything he did afterwards of course–he clearly went off the rails. My problem is the show portraying him straight up as the Bad Guy for holding actual democratic elections, while the privileged non elected elite that led them to the Mount Weather mess were supposed to be the Good ones. Much like Dany was the Tyranical Dragon Queen from the moment she set foot in Winterfell, because Sansa had prophetic abilities and could predict the clusterfuck of 8x05 I guess!

At the end of the day, I was a fool to trust any recommendations and take a cw show seriously.. if it weren't for Bellamy and Raven I'd be out of this mess loooooooong ago! I'll hardly last this season really, not when every episode is dedicated to praising Princess Clarke Griffin, Bellamy having turned into her hypnotised lapdog with no personality of his own, and her stans constantly attacking Raven for not kissing her ass and *daring* to hold her responsible for her actions.

Sander, you’re not toxic! You have a heart of gold and deserve all the happiness that Robbe brings you! 🫂

This is what touched me the most. See him cling so hard to stay on the surface near Robbe. It hurt me so hard.

Looking back on all of Sander’s actions and words to date has a new found pain...

“I’m glad I’m in this universe” - he wanted to much to be done with Britt and he thought he was, he’d tried and she didn’t listen

“I’m never letting you go” - he wanted to hold on for as long as he possibly could and was never going to willingly let go, someone would have to make him and they did but while he wasn’t in any position to make that decision for himself

“It’s all that matters” - I think he knew it was all going to be threatened to fall apart because others would weigh in and that’s why he said he loved Robbe. As Eliott said “none of that matters”. Nothing does to Evens but their own voice, art and their Isak.

He has known what he wants and who he wants it with for so long and has tried, through all the mess, to get it and to cling as tightly as he could to it even during mental turmoil as he lay in that hotel room you could feel how desperately he was trying to hold on and he just couldn’t.

Nobody has listened to him. Nobody has taken his words as truth (“honest truth”). Nobody has trusted him as a boy capable of choice and desire and independence. He has tried so so hard to seek that for himself and it has still been taken from him.

I know that when Robbe shows Sander that he is listened to, supported and loved exactly as he is and that he doesn’t have to let go... it’ll mean the entire world to him.

😁 I just couldn't resist doing a small edit (sorry very simple but sweet edit) of Robbe and Zoe..

They are just so CUTE and their friendship and closeness is amazing. I LOVE THESE TWO AND ALL THESE PICTURES 💯 💛 They are just so beautiful as people & as friends. In S03 they were always there for eachother. I do hope they interact more in S05 as there was none in the disaterious S04. One can only HOPE for better things in S05 (Bring back the old cast, old Frienships & writers of S03 & WTFOCKDOWN PLEASE) as for lately @wtfock.be has been nothing but disspointing 😔 (look at Sobbe & Zoenne's Valentines posts 👎😖). Anyway looking forward to better things in S05 🤞🧡🤗

What's your favorite thing about Jon?

HELLO, I HOPE EVERYONE IS READY FOR THIS ONE.

so, my favorite thing about Jon… i’ve thought of this many and many times before. first of all, i’m someone who’s watched the show first (until s03) and only then began reading the books. in the show, i already liked Jon because he’s the sort of unlikely hero that i always appreciate — but not the sort of hero/ protagonist who’s 43783787384x better than everyone else and can do things that no one else can (not in the first seasons of the show anyway, while they are faithful to book canon). tbh that sort of protagonists bore me a lot. to me, heroes are the ones who can outgrow themselves even if they started off as nothing special — hints at Neville Longbottom, for example.

but yeah. i really liked Jon’s personality, and ironically i had friends telling me of how alike the two of us are — i’m also shy and i absolutely suck at social talk, and i take my duties very seriously. …and i guess i frown a lot too? xD so, i liked his personality and i liked his story and his background. 

and then i started reading the books, and gods help me. i was already lost ever since Jon’s first chapter, pretty much. reading books, in my personal opinion, is always so much better than watching a show or a movie, because it’s how you get to know the characters for real. you learn their quirks, their insecurities, their views on the world. and, boy, was i gobsmacked by the depth of Jon Snow. he starts as this slightly spoiled highborn lad, who thinks he’s ready to take on the world and who’s convinced he lives the worst life ever for being the bastard son of a highborn lord. fair enough — reminder that, in the start of AGOT, Jon is only 14. it’s more than natural that he is so self-centered, so idealistic, that he takes everything so seriously and that his temper flares right under his skin. a green summer boy, all in all.

but then the turning points begin. the conversation with Donal Noye, which makes him realize he’s actually got nothing to complain about, when compared to the new recruits of the Watch, and that he doesn’t have to be an ass to them — he can respect them and admire them for who they are, and this is when Jon starts his quest as a protective figure (not counting the natural bond with Arya and the rest of the Stark children ofc). and I love that he was humble enough to admit he was wrong, and that he was so mature as to learn from it and use it as an opportunity to become a better person. there’s the one time when he tries to desert in order to join Robb, and which marked his true, unwavering commitment to the Night’s Watch. 

there’s many other iconic moments. when he so boldly kills Othor, even though he was terrified; the moment Qhorin Halfhand requests he joins him and Stonesnake and Squire Dalbridge and Ebben and Jon looks positively so awestruck because I AM JUST A GREEN STEWARD WHY WOULD YOU WANT ME SENPAI; there’s the moment he’s too gentle hearted to kill Ygritte, remembering Ned’s words: “You owe it to the man to look him in the eye and listen to his last words. If, after that, you cannot bring yourself to kill him, maybe he does not deserve to die”; the moment he pretends to turn his cloak and leaves the Halfhand behind, and how humiliated he feels but he never balks; the whole staying in Mance’s camp and how he slowly starts seeing the free folk for who they are — men and women and children whose only sin was to be born on the wrong side of the Wall.

there’s the countless times he feels guilty for breaking his vows with Ygritte, but he caves nonetheless because he’s just human and no better than anyone else — but also how guilty he feels, for knowing he’s leading her on into a dream: “You were wrong to love her, you were wrong to leave her”; there’s his return to Castle Black, and how he tries his very best to help defend the Wall against Styr, first, and then Mance himself, even though he’s wounded and so weakened. there’s the moment Noye gives him the Wall, of course, and the moment, the morning after, when maester Aemon confirms it — this is when Jon Snow isn’t the bastard boy any longer, but already begins shaping himself as the 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, with everything that comes with it.

there’s the moment when he goes to meet Mance to treat for peace, so certain that he will be either killed by the free folk or hanged by Thorne and Slynt when he returns — and he’s so frightened, but he does not balk. there’s his relationship with Stannis, there’s obviously his election for command. there’s all the very hard decisions he begins making then, including the beheading of Janos Slyn by his own hand (”Our way is the old way”), the reopening of forts, the opening of the gate for the free folk, the sending of Cotter Pyke to Hardhome, the deal with Tycho Nestoris, the choices of Satin and Leathers for their new roles. there’s the very infamous KILL THE BOY, JON SNOW, WINTER IS ALMOST UPON US. KILL THE BOY, AND LET THE MAN BE BORN — in case someone wondered why my url is what it is.

and there is his betrayal and murder. i’m not ashamed to say i teared up the moment i read this chapter for the first time, and even today i cringe every time i re-read it. because he was killed by his own men, because he was killed for daring to protect the free folk, because, right before being killed, what he was doing was trying to protect Wun Wun and help him calm down. because one of this last thoughts was “Stick them with the pointy end…” — he refused Stannis’ offer to become Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell and chose his duty and his honor over the one thing he’d ever wished for the most during his whole life, and he died believing his little sister was at the mercy of Ramsay Bolton.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO YOUR QUESTION, MY GOOD FRIEND. what is my favorite thing about Jon? 

his selflessness. 

in the show, Jon has been/ is being glorified as this awesome hero who kills Others and smacks Ramsay on the face and will probably be a dragon rider — which i do like, i cannot lie. but book!Jon, that is my Jon — a young bastard boy of 16, who never wanted to be Lord Commander but never shied away from responsibility, either. who tried always his best to protect the ones he loves and the ones under his guard. who always put what is right before what he wants. someone who’s full of doubts and insecurities, so very lonely and half-consumed by grief, but who never stopped trying and never stopped caring. his unwavering belief that there is still good in the world, and it is worth fighting for — even in a world that turned its back on him.
