Chapter 1

Faust: Seems as if nobody is up yet. I suppose I awoke too early.

For the time being, I’ll just brew coffee and…

Oz: ………….

Faust: Oh, good morning Oz. You’re also rather an early riser.

Unfortunately, besides myself, no one else has woken up yet.

Oz: I see.

Oz: …Faust. Have you ever heard of something called “Radio Gymnastics”?

Faust: Radio gymnastics?

Oz: It seems to exist in the Sage’s world. Arthur and the others expressed interest in it.

Faust: Ah…… If I’m not mistaken, we were talking about that sort of thing yesterday.

Exercises to loosen and stretch the body that are performed routinely every morning, correct?

Oz: Right. It seems that if one is physically active in the mornings they’ll feel refreshed and be more efficient in subsequent activities.

Faust: There’s truth in what you say. If we continue on with this, it’ll build our physical strength, right?

Perhaps this could be good for the kids. We’re at the training camp, why don’t we try before breakfast?

Chapter 2

Oz: Even as a wizard, is it necessary to build up physical strength?

Faust: While it’s true that magic can accomplish a great deal of things, still the body is one’s vital asset.

As a matter of fact, Cain, Shino, and Leno all seem eager to use physical means on missions. It suits their characters, I suppose.

Oz: It’s unnecessary for me. I’ll seek guidance from the Sage, and focus on what really interests me.

Faust: Hm, well I guess so… With how you are now though, with your injury from the calamity, you’re unable to use magic at night.

I won’t force you, but I believe that by training your body, you’ll have more advantage in physical fights.

Oz: …………..

The screen fades to black before shortly coming back.

Faust: Oz, you need to bend over a bit more.

Oz: I cannot bend any further.

Faust: Just a bit more; at least enough to be able to touch your toes……

Oz: …It hurts……

Faust: I’m sorry…! Still, can’t you go a little bit further? You can also stretch your back like……

Mitile: Fuaa, good morn……

Mitile: ……Ah, Oz-sama and Faust-san? What are the two of you doing together?

Oz: Well…

Faust: This is, actually…

A Talisman with no shape - Episode 1 

Akira: When you look at it like this, it really is a mystical cave...

Oz:……

inside the pleasantly cool cave, my voice and the sound of our two footsteps echoed.

After completing the mission, I explored the cave with Oz accompanying me.

Akira: This is a place where Oz and the other wizards can relax right?

Oz: Correct.

Akira: In my world, places like this usually become popular tourist destinations.

Oz: I see.

Oz's monotone responses echoed softly in the quiet cave. His voice and the cool air made me feel at ease.

Akira: Huh?

Oz: What's wrong?

Akira: I think I saw something shine from this hole just now...

I looked at a small hole in the wall, but it was dark and I couldn't see very well, instead I noticed something.

Akira: (There are other holes in the wall... this scenery reminds me of something...?)

Akira: Oh, the "Bocca della Verità"!

Oz: Bocca della Verità?

Akira: Yes. There is a sculpture of a human face at a tourist spot in my world, and it has a similar vibes to that.

Oz: I don't see a human face.

Akira: Look, if you think of this big hole as the mouth and these two cracks as the eyes, doesn't it start to look like a human face?

Oz: ...It just looks like a crack and a hole...

Akira: It's pretty famous, and a pretty good sculpture.

Akira: There's also a legend that says, "If you put your hand in the mouth, a liar won't be able to get their hand out."

Oz: ...Do people gather just to be cursed?

Akira: Of course, it's just a legend, and it doesn't actually get stuck.

Akira: there is a prank where you pretend that your hand can't get out, and surprise the people around you. Like this...

I slowly put my hand into the hole big enough for my palm. And then...

Akira: Oh no! I can't get my hand out!

Oz:……..

Akira: (No reaction!)

Akira: ...Haha, I guess you won't be surprised when I already explained it. Anyway, it is the kind of tourist spot where you can have fun like thi――.

Akira: What?! I can't actually get my hands out...!?

I desperately try to pull my hand out, but it won't budge.

Akira: W-what do I do...?! I can't get my hand out...!

Oz: That's the one you just explai___.

Akira: No, it's not a prank, I really can't get it out...!

Oz:.......

Oz:《Vox Nox》

Oz cast his spell, and the wall around the hole started to crumble. I clench my freed hand and breathe a sigh of relief.

Oz: Are you unharmed?

Akira: Yes. Thank you, Oz.

Akira: I panicked thinking that I had really been cursed and won't be able to get my hand out, like in the legend of Bocca della Verità.

Akira: It's not like I can say for sure that I've never lied...

Oz:…….

I suddenly notice something sparkling on the ground along with a piece of the broken wall, and I reach out to it.

Akira: Is this, a crystal?

Shaped like a petal, it sparkles like the setting sun reflected on the water when I hold the light close to it.

Akira: ( was that what was shining in the hole earlier. Maybe it came out when the wall broke.)

Akira: Look at this. It's a really beautiful___.

Bradley: You sure found some pretty nice stuff, Sage.

Akira: Hey, Bradley! When did you...

Bradley: Sage, lemme see it.

When I handed him the crystal, Bradley stared at it intently and turned up the corners of his mouth.

Bradley: It's a part of the stone crystal.

Akira: Stone crystal?

Oz: It's a crystal that shines rainbow-colored in sunlight and pitch black in moonlight. I've heard that it can only be created under special conditions.

Bradley: Yeah, that's why it's something you rarely see. Hey sage, where did you find it?

Akira: I think it probably came out of this wall.

Akira: I stuck my hand through a hole in the wall and couldn't get it out, so Oz used magic to destroy the wall...

Bradley:...you Stick your hand through a hole in the wall?, what a weirdo.

Akira: Haha, I just... But as I told Oz earlier, in my world there is a sculpture that you can put your hand into for fun.

I briefly explained to Bradley about the "Bocca della Verità" and he shook his shoulders in amusement.

Bradley: Heh. In your world, a place that detects liars becomes a tourist attraction.

Bradley: That's a hilarious idea. So basically, I could probably make a profit by adding a touch of something like that to this cave and make it into a tourist attraction, right?

Akira: Oh, Bradley, are you sure? I thought you wanted this...

Bradley: I'm not stupid enough to steal your stuff in front of Oz. And it's not worth stealing even.

Bradley: You found something pretty rare,  you should take good care of it.

Akira: Yes!

Bradley turned up the corners of his mouth and headed deeper into the cave.

As I stared at the crystal I was given, a question suddenly came to my mind.

Akira:...Now that I think about it, why couldn't I get my hand out...? Maybe it's really cursed...

Oz: No, the spirits are calm. And there's no sign of a curse.

I breathed a sigh of relief at Oz's words.

Akira: thank god… Maybe the hem of my clothes got caught somewhere.

Oz:…..

Oz:《Vox Nox》

Akira: Whaaat!?

Oz cast the spell, and the stone crystal glowed with a faint light, and a gentle warmth spread through my hand holding the crystal.

Oz: I cast a protective spell on the stone.

Akira: Eh?

Oz: To me, cutting through the earth, summoning a thunderstorm...all of it is too easy.

Oz: Of course, exorcising curses is as easy.

Akira:.....!

Akira: (Maybe Oz is cheering me up because he thinks I'm scared of being cursed...?)

Oz: If you were to be cursed by any kind of curse, I will definitely purify it.

Oz: But if you still hold a fear of curses, then carry that crystal with you.

Oz: If it is a weak curse, the stone will purify it. You wouldn't be cursed that easily.

Not only the crystal, but Oz's words gave me an unshakable sense of security, as ifI was being protected by a large tree that could withstand any storm.

Akira: Thank you Oz. It makes me very happy to hear you say that.

Akira: I will treasure both your words and this crystal.

Oz's expression didn't change. But I felt like the atmosphere around him had softened just a little.

Card episode - Something Calming

Akira: The cave we went to on the last mission was a really mysterious place.

Akira: And I thought it was nice to have a place where everyone can relax together.

Oz: I see.

Akira: When you're in a place like that, it's kind of easier to talk to people you don't usually talk to, how was it for you, Oz?

Oz:…….

Oz:……

Akira: (He doesn't seem to get it...!)

Akira: Well, for example, maybe you talked to Bradley about things you normally can't, and became good friends with him...

Oz: Me, with Bradley?

Akira: (He doesn't get it even more!)

Akira: Th-then, were you able to talk to anyone? I think you can talk about all sorts of things in a calm place.

Oz:……

Oz: When Arthur and White called out to me, we talked about the past a little.

Akira: The past?

Oz: Yes. when Arthur was a child, he raised fish and released them into a pond.

Akira: (...I think Oz's expression has softened a little. I'm sure he'll deny it if I tell him...)

Akira: (Maybe the conversations of Arthur and the twins is something calming for Oz)

Arthur and Riquet come to ask me, "Why is the ocean so vast?" "Where do the waves come from?" Each time they ask these questions, I realize that even after thousands of years of life, I still don't know all the wonders of this world. There's an ocean in your world too right. Is it different from the one in our world?

Misery Loves Company

A little thing I wrote in 2022 about Faust, published here on ao3. I still like it so I hope you enjoy it! TW: Mentions of Self Harm and Suicide

A man sat alone in his room, his body scared. The ones from battle he had known well, and the ones that were self inflicted he knew even better. It had been centuries since the revolution in the Central Country. Centuries had passed since he had let so many people down and led them to their deaths.

He had contemplated suicide before, he craved an end befit of a murderer, but he never went through with it. Dying was a coward's way out. Living was a much more painful punishment. When the world deemed him fit to die, he would.

He hated the thought of it. The thought of him living on when so many of the young wizards under him had been slain weighed on him. He had once believed it to have been for a noble cause, that their sacrifices would mean something, but when he was raised onto that pyre, he realized he had been wrong. He realized that the humans his comrades had fought and died for thought nothing more of them than as weapons. 

He was over 400 years old now; the Central Kingdom had thrived after the revolution under the Granvelle rule. After being saved by his friend and former servant, he ran. He didn't want to have to see or be near the humans. He didn't want to be anywhere near the country he had helped to build. 

He ran east, deep into the wild where no human would want to go. A place perfect for him. He built a new life deep within it. A house by a river deep within a cursed valley. The only disturbances he had were those of nature, but he didn't mind. 

He had planted seeds in the area around his new home. Plants bloomed, drawing creatures near. The birds would nest in the trees nearby, the fish of the river would splash and swim, and the creatures would run and play outside. The sights made him happy. It numbed the scars that weighed on him, even if only for a moment. Even if he believed he didn't deserve solace, the land around him gave it. 

He had made a new life for himself. He made sure that no one, unless desperate, would even want to disturb his peace. He painted his image as a curseworker so that humans wouldn't disturb his quiet life of regret and atonement, else he risk doing more damage to himself. 

It's been a few decades since he became a Sage's Wizard, a task he found bothersome. Before now, he simply needed to wait on the cursed day to arrive. After the last confrontation, however, his normal life changed. His comrades had died once more. The entirety of the Southern Wizards, half of the Western Wizards, half of the Central Wizards, and half of his own Eastern Wizards. The only one who survived under him had been the heir of Blanchett.

He, too, had almost died. He'd almost been turned to stone and his miserable, regret-filled life would have ended… but the other surviving Wizards managed to summon a new sage. 

He was saved by a human from another world.

Since then, he had begrudgingly agreed to stay at the Sage's manor. It felt like more trouble than it was worth, however, as the sage had to summon more wizards to replace their fallen comrades. Among those ten summoned wizards, there were three he wished to avoid. 

A teacher, a friend, and a traitor.

The teacher had taught him magic. There was a time when he looked up to him, but the teacher had turned tail. The friend had protected him throughout the revolution. They worked well together, and his devotion was unwavering, but he did not want the friend to die as the rest of his comrades did. The traitor was not a traitor, he was the descendant of one. The descendant was the spitting image of a Granvelle, of the one who put him upon the pyre.

He had never expected to see them. He didn’t want to see them. They were all fragments of his past who came back to haunt him. There was another among them, as well. A boy from the Central Kingdom who reminded him of his foolish past self. A boy dedicated to his faith and his role to help humans. The man felt a sense of pity for him, but minded his business. If the boy wished to go down his current path, he could.

He was aware of his standing in the Central Kingdom. He was aware of his status as a savior and saint. He hated it. He hated how the traitor allowed for his actions against him to be dismissed and instead worshiped him as a hero. He was never a hero. If he was anything, he was a murderer. 

In a way, his solitude was a constant punishment and reminder of his failure to act. He preferred it this way. The change in pace brought about by the new sage, however, gave him a chance to connect to others in ways he hadn’t since the revolution. He had his doubts, but he went along to see where it got him, and so far, it seemed to be going well.

A knock came from the door, the familiar voice of a human coming from the other side.

“Faust! Nero finished breakfast, come down when you’re ready!”

Faust smiled at the voice. 

The first human he had trusted since Alec.

Butlers' Crest

1st floor butlers

No stripping Bastien sprite, sadly (but the dialogue indicates that he does take his clothes off to show us his crest. Or is it just unbuttoning the shirt? I forgot at the moment writing this)

2nd floor butlers

No stripping Fennesz and Ammon. Understandable on Fennesz's part since his crest is on his upper-middle chest (right above his sternum). The dialogue indicates he undid the top button(s). Ammon, on the other hand, does strip and show his crest to us, which is on the back of his right thigh btw. Maybe that's why they didn't give us the stripping image/sprite, haha.

3rd floor butlers

No stripping Nac. But just like Ammon, he's actually taking off some articles of clothing to show his crest (somewhere on his thigh). AND LUCAS, oh my god, what a clown. If this is mhyk, you'd be cancelled right away. His crest is on the back of his neck so all he had to do was to lift his hair up, but no, he's stripping, lmaoooo 😂

Basement butlers

Now, this is actually the reason why I made this post. Since the teaser of episode 3 is out and shown in the picture is Lato's weapon, many speculates it's going to be Lato-centric. I went to checked what is shown in the memory about the crest... Yeah, he's not stripping (he is, just not shown in the sprite). I recall in the シラユメ MV that he is, and there is a number branded right above his lower right-side ribs (?) that reads 3719 (even though something comes up before 3 but it's unclear what it is). Combined with his initial story and 1st Anniversary card story, let's be prepared for some heavy angst... Maybe.

Uuugghgggh. Idk why but nothing feels right lately.

On one hand, the enstars fixation died down A LOT. Great for my bank account tbh, i don't wanna spend another cent on gacha games. My brain is free🎉🎉🎉

And rather than feeling this pressure of "omg i must grind new events and get new cards" or "omg there are so many event stories i missed out on" or "i must grind every single new song on all difficulty levels for dia" i just. Don't do that anymore lol. I actually just play the songs whenever i actually feel like playing any and i read only the stories that actually interest me. Which definitely aren't a lot tbh. (still waiting on that knights climax tl) but yeah i'm basically reading 0 stuff from engstars.

So if you wanna break free from a gacha game sucking your soul, I think the reason why the enstars fixation died down so much for me is a combination of

burning myself out trying to get cards

getting bluetooth headphones (which basically make it impossible to play the game with headphones)

turning the BP game notification off

Engstars TLs getting worse than fan TLs

Obviously i still have basic but since i can't read japanese, i can't stress myself over reading new stories because i can't read anything at all. Yaaaay. I have evolved into a casual player.

Now. On the other hand. The new fixation. My beloved wizards. Mahoyaku.

I'm gonna be so honest, i kinda hate it here.

Don't get me wrong, i love the game, i love the story, i love the characters. But the fans. The fans man.

Like with enstars fandom, i started out with tumblr, and sure, i had to occasionally block some people and filter out some stuff, but that was it. That was enough for me to be able to chill and actually be comfortable in the enstars fandom space on tumblr.

Now, there are basically no mhyk fans on tumblr. Ok fine. Guess i'll go on twitter instead. So i made a twt account.

I truly cannot explain to you how much i should not have done that.

Like, ok, LOTS MORE fanart which is great. Fantastic. Lovely. However, a lot of proshippers. Many many proshippers. Like i do not have that much experience in fandom spaces in the first place but i swear the amount of proshippers is disproportionately large in mhyk fandom, on twt at least.

Ok another warning for talk about csa if you somehow didn't catch the one above

I think it's obvious from my blog here alone how much i like northfam, especially Snow and White. To be so honest, Snow and White were the biggest hesitation for me to NOT get into mhyk because we all know the "child looking character is actually over 2000 y.o." is NEVER handled well in fiction. Well, i ended up reading mhyk anyways, and to my relief, s&w's child forms do not get sexualized ever. Thank god.

But like mentioned before, this is not the case for the fandom. Not only do i always end up finding people shipping s&w together, but also many other of my faves, like oz and arthur (foster father and son) or mitile and figaro (student and teacher). Which i do not want to see ever, and the thing with twt is, you can't tag and filter stuff like on here. And even after being on twt for...idk how many months, i STILL end up seeing stuff i would like to stay 4869761093 lightyears away from.

I've been trying to do everything, from blocking to muting words to clicking the three dots on each individual post i don't want to see for the "please don't show me stuff like this". AND IT STILL HAPPENS.

Idk man...as a csa survivor myself it feels so hopeless...like is it really worth it here if i'll just keep finding stuff that triggers me? Is it worth meeting new people and constantly being on edge if this new fan thinks being proship is ok?

I really did like making fanart for fandom purposes, it made me draw a lot more, but between my dying interest in enstars and mhyk fandom thinking the stuff that has and will put me in therapy for decades is hot. I don't feel like interacting with fandom that much anymore ngl....and that makes me genuinely sad. Idk maybe this is a depressive episode that will go away but i feel so tired for now....hobbies are supposed to be fun....

...but I'm unsure of how to look for the side characters ^^ I'm not very good at this kind of research, so I'd love to hear which ones they are if you have the time!

Hi there! first of all, thank you so much, so so so much! for translating the last MHYK story, I've wanted to read it for so long, I'm glad someone finally translated it! I'm sharing a small comment related to the translation. Whenever you use the singular first person (I) you conjugate the verb in third person (he, she, it), writing things such as "I asks" "I watches" and the addition of -s and -es are only made in the present tense for he, she it. So it'd be "I ask" "I watch". Just that! ty xo
