My take on Melinda in the new chapter:

So, from what we know about Melinda so far, her dichotomous feelings for Damian stem from her loving him as her son and hating him as Donovan's son. She seems to feel deep hatred towards her husband, and it spills over towards her son(s?).

And I feel like Melinda is genuinely happy that Damian is making friends and getting a social support system outside of his father's influence. She wants Damian to stop obsessing over getting his father's approval and turn more and more similar to the man she despises.

I have the feeling that Demetrius did not turn out the way she wanted, and is following his father's path. With Damian, she sees a chance, because he is becoming friends with a little "peasant" girl at school.

This also gives me hope that if Damian does stop trying to win Donovan's approval so hard, and continues growing into a different direction from the path his father has set for him due to the emotional support system he's building at school with his classmates and teachers... that there might be a chance for the relationship between Damian and his mother to improve.

I already had this idea on the to do list but I bumped it up when I read the newest chapter. The implication that Damian told Jeeves about the dance and worried about him blabbing suggests that this is one of the few people in his life that he can be a emotionally honest with. And I think that’s so sweet. I bet he still denied his crush, but Jeeves doesn’t directly question that out loud, so Damian doesn’t have to go to the usual extreme lengths to prove it.

I was gonna do this a lot simpler so I could color it without taking a billion years, but then I got carried away with the line art. Also I forgot to flip the image during the sketching process. I did it now that I’m finished, and you know what? What my art looks like in the mirror dimension is simply none of my business. Every time I expect it to look good and every time I’m severely humbled. Too late now though. Lol.

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Short Mission 13... You have been warned...! 👌

[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]

This seems to be the first time that we've ever had 2 Short Missions released one after the other (I mean, after the BOMBSHELL that was dropped in Mission 96, it's no wonder why Endo is taking his time to give us Mission 97...!! 😁) But just because it's another Short Mission (and a Special Illustration), doesn't mean we don't have anything to talk about!! So let's get into it, shall we...? 😉

First up, let's talk about the Special Illustration...:

Now on to the Short Mission, which was all about Bond...!! 😄

The family left for the day, leaving poor Bond alone and bored. But, that didn't stop him from having an eventful day...! First, a delivery man came by...:

And since no one answered the door, the delivery man left, which means Bond did his "job" and starts looking for some food, when:

HE BREAKS A GLASS AND GOES INTO ANYA TO ESCAPE YOR'S POSSIBLE WRATH!! 😂 But while he's hiding in Anya's room, THIS HAPPENS:

I was honestly confused by how Bond could hear Agent Penguinman's thoughts, but it made laugh, so...!! 😅

It seems like Bond still feels bad about attacking Agent Penguinman all the way back in Short Mission 3, so he brings the stuff animal the fish that the Forgers were gonna have for dinner as an apology...! Then, Bond thinks about his past:

This image breaks my heart so much... The people who experimented on Bond and those other dogs are awful human beings and hope that they'll eventually get what's coming to them...

Then right after that memory, Bond does this to Agent Penguinman...:

Then when the Forgers return home, Yor wonders what to the fish that was in the fridge as we cut to seeing Bond sleeping next to Agent Penguinman with the fish in front of Anya's door...! 💗

And that was Short Mission 13, a nice and sweet little chapter...! 🤗 Seeing a little more of Bond's past really hurts my soul, none of those animals deserved to suffer like that... People who hurt animals and children are the lowest of the low, so I hope that whoever was involved with those experiments is stopped completely, but only time will tell...

Also, I didn't get to say this the last time because I forgot to mention it, but...

one of the funniest things about spy x family to me is that Loid definitely thinks he’s both the brains and protector of his family unit, but he’s quite wrong and he gets wronger when they get Bond. from the beginning, Yor is even more of the brawny protector of their family than he realizes and is, in fact, the reason several of his missions have been successful thanks to Anya guiding their powerhouse to where she’s needed--which brings me to my next point:

Anya and Bond combined comprise a good chunk of the brainpower of this operation. the second Anya met Bond, her ability to read minds and Bond’s ability to see the future allowed them to prevent Loid’s death, the death of Westalis' political leader, and--oh!--a whole-ass war. granted, Loid is the one defusing bombs and picking up on her cues, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s behind a lot of his correct judgment calls. in fact, a lot of the story is just Anya desperately trying to trick the adults in her life into going where they’re needed and pulling strings to guarantee their success.

in fact, even if we look at it from the beginning, Twilight’s intelligence and experience as a spy is doing only so much good in this operation as exemplified by his creation of Plan B. he decidedly got in over his head when he attempted to engage in the politics of six-year-olds. he’s quite wrong in thinking that Anya standing up to Damian killed Plan B and about the status of Plan B overall. He thinks Anya failed when, in fact, she did her job too well. Yor has just given him his best possible “in” into the Desmond family, yet at first, he really wasn’t happy about it. he was worried about Yor. it took him a minute to even realize what a good opportunity this was. (may edit this and add the panels later)

someone on here once said that “Loid is the brains, Yor is the brawn, Anya’s the heart” of this story, but (if we’re sticking to those obviously oversimplified archetypes) i’d contend that--funnily enough--Anya (and Bond) are the brains, Yor is the brawn, and loid is the heart and not a single one of them realizes that.
