Do you do warmup sketches before drawing? (Bonus: do you have any to share?)

Unfortunately I really do not. For me sketching is the most demanding and stressful part of drawing hahah, so it eats too much of my energy that I very much need while drawing the actual thing I’m supposed to draw. Sometimes I do make concept doodles though! I actually have one I haven’t shown yet, but I’ll publish it (and the finished artwork) likely at some point during next week. I took part in an ACEO trade for the first time in many years and I’ll show it to you as soon as my trade partner has received it in mail.

Uh, um, what is it, I hear you ask. It’s a hamster! I drew it after doodling something for the last question so check that out if you want to know what it is supposed to look like.

You wish your art was more..(fill in the blank)

I’m not sure how to put the feelings I wish to evoke into words, but like... Immersive, interactive, inspiring... A lot of i-words apparently! I’ve achieved some of that in a few bigger animation and game projects of mine and I was supposed to focus more on it this year, but ahhhahahah yeah that didn’t work out. The best example of it from this year is this thing from the very beginning of 2020.

What’s the hardest thing for you to draw?

My first instict was to say “humans” because holy damn I just can’t wrap my head around human anatomy! But then I started thinking things like cars and bikes and started sweating even more... I just don’t think I’ve had to draw either of them since childhood, so they haven’t had a chance to traumatize me as much. =‘D

Oh, and also wheelchairs. Those were pure pain.

I then went to play pogo and came across a shiny party hat Eevee, and within two hours I found an Onix, thought of your post, clicked the Onix and… the fucker was a shiny. :DD I swear to god your post was my good luck charm today!!

Jasmine Tea : If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I definitely want to visit more European countries in my lifetime, like how much do I know about Moldova for instance? Nothing! I’m really picky about traveling though I want to see as many historical sights as I can (which means planning out everything really well even though I’m not about that at all in daily life) and be well-informed about them when seeing them. This is a friendly reminder to talk about that weird Totoro déjà vu you briefly mentioned in your tags! I'm especially curious because I personally also had a super strange déjà vu moment when I watched Totoro as an adult, almost 20 years after seeing it for the first time lmao

Whaaat the heck, is this like some sort of whole generation-wide thing or what? =D But okay, I’ll start from the beginning with my own story.

So here are the original tags from my reblog-blog for those who don’t follow it or don’t read the tags:

#I watched this movie ((Matilda)) a couple of years ago because hearing people talk about it#gave me the second weirdest movie deja vu ever#the weirdest one was totoro but that’s another story#to this day I’m not sure if I had ever seen this movie before#but what I think happened was that I might’ve read it as a book#when I must’ve been something like 8 or 9#then I never really thought about it ever again#until internet kept bringing it up and it started to emerge from my memory#just enough to give me that really bizarre feeling of familiarity#interesting#also someone remind me to tell the totoro story someday lol

The thing is for as long as I can remember I’ve known Totoro from… Something. When anime started to be a thing in Finland, I never felt like “ooh what is that, it looks interesting” towards Totoro, but more like “oh it’s that thing from years ago”. When I finally actually watched the movie maybe five years ago, I realized that I didn’t have any recollection of the story line at all though - it’s only the creatures I remember. Totoros and especially the Cat bus! But what makes this even weirder is that at some point my brother said he felt the exact same way. So apparently we both have seen SOMETHING about the movie somewhere when we were very little, but not the actual movie itself?

After googling this a bit I found out that Yle actually aired the movie in -95 in Finland, so it is possible that we only saw an advertisement about it or something like that. But then again for example The Lion King was in the theatres already in -94 and I remember that like it was yesterday, so I feel like I should have a clearer memory of Totoro, too, if it was that late when I first found out about it. But I can’t know for sure at this point! It will likely stay as a mystery forever. =‘D

wtf is up with those Slakoths seriously, I found two today (plus a shiny Nidoran M!) and I wasn’t even looking, just sitting at home. |’D Congrats on the shinies though! If I got a Magnemite I probably wouldn’t evo it either, it’s too cute.

Apparently there’s some sort of rerun of a community day event so shinies are more likely to appear. Nice with the Nidoran! I’d like a shiny nid as well.

The first character you loved:

Kanda, hands down. Allen was the second one.

Rachel Alucard or Arakune. I liked their designs before I got to play the story.

Heather. Her attitude was fresh and got me hooked.

The character you never expected to love so much:

Wisely. He is a fairly fresh addition but GOD DO I LOVE HIM! He looks like an owl when drawn in Hoshino’s chibi style and his fluffy head kills me.

Ragna. Basic protagonist with an aggressive nature, but that jerk with a golden heart gets to me--especially since he is a big brother and would do anything for his younger siblings.

James. Like. Do I have to even explain this? He is not a nice character.

The character you relate to most:

Lavi and Allen but also the queen of anxiety, Miranda. Similiar to Lavi and Allen, I too have a habit for putting on a mask, not making a fuss about my worries or problems, and feeling like an outsider.

Rachel ;w; She has to watch the events from aside, not allowed to interfere--but sometimes she steps up. Also Noel: I too wish everyhing would be good and I could just live happily with my friends.

James and Alex. James because of the quilt, and Alex because his situation at home reminds me of certain feelings I’ve always had at mine.

The character you’d slap:

Chaoji for being so black and white with his reasoning. Kanda for being a grumpy dick. Allen for not letting anyone care about him.

Terumi for everyhing he has done and Bang for simply existing and giving me a headache.

Alex’s father. The things he says about Alex give me an ill feeling.

Three favorite characters (these are in order of preference):

Lavi, Allen, Tyki.

Rachel, Hazama, Kokonoe.

James, Alex, Heather.

A character you liked at first but not so much anymore:

Kanda. I do like him, but he is not my favourite like he used to be.

Jin. Even after Jin’s character developement, his attitude and the way of treating others didn’t improve. Also Tsubaki, because her character seemed to get stuck and not have enough time to improve from the events of Chrono Phantasma.

I still do love Heather, but James and Alex are just more relatable to me on a personal level.

A character you did not like at first, but they’ve grown on you:

Marie. Didn’t care about him much, but I’ve come to appreciate his relationship and effect on both Kanda and Allen. Also Johnny for obvious reasons! I really love how his character has been written and built!

Noel--I did like her okay, but I’ve only come to appreciate her more later.

Angela. I started understanding her better as I grew.

3 OTPs:

Lavi/Allen, Lavi/Tyki, Allen/Lavi/Tyki(or Kanda)

I don’t ship anyone passionately. Ragna/Rachel is cute just as it is on the games. Hazama/Rachel is something I’d be very curious about. Ragna/Hazama I would be REALLY interested about. Terumi/Hazama or Relius/Hazama ‘cause those actually make some sense. Rachel/Kokonoe because it’d be super interesting.

I don’t have any real Silent Hill ships either, but James/Maria is sad and interesting in a way.

Let's be real, the new remakes look weird. After a late night conversation with @rypeltajaroll and friends, I decided to make mock ups of our proposed alternatives: Let's Go Bidoof and Let's Go Starly. Ideas under the cut.

You get your starter after you and Barry become separated when following the Professor at the start of the game, and get in trouble with wild pokémon. Depending on the edition, a brave little Bidoof or Starly comes to your rescue, and happily attaches itself to you afterwards, while the other becomes Barry's starter. Your mother finds you and Barry when you find each other again, and takes you home, relieved you are okay. Afterwards, she gives you a pokéball for your starter, and tells you that you should register them with the professor.

Then, you start your adventure, which pretty much follows Platinum canon, with the differences that your starter will always be outside of their pokéball, and occasionally leads you to wild pokémon that are friendly and can be caught without any battles. those pokémon always have at least one perfect IV, are a rare pokémon, or have moves they wouldn't be able to learn otherwise. Also available is Pokémon Camp and a version of the Pokémon amie, where you can bond with your party. After a while, once the level in both friendship and actual level is met, you can ask your starter if they want to evolve, otherwise they will stay in their base form forever. To make up for that possibility, they get access to a few moves they wouldn't be able to learn otherwise.

Another thing that is new here would be the ability to eventually let out your whole party, with one more pokémon with every badge you earn, with the last two badges allowing you to access free flight no matter the height, and a diving partner. A possibility could also be a place where you can apply for specialization to a trainer class, and when using the pokemon for it, you start with the title for the class on top of getting the outfit.

That's pretty much all on ideas rn.
