Who is your favorite of the geese?
I'm going to cop out a little and say that I like K and Driver equally but for very different reasons. I'm also going to go a little into why I like these two so much. Fair warning, it's not going to be a remotely coherent explanation.
I knew I was cooked the moment I saw K kneel to pick up the cowslip. It drew sudden attention to his hands, and they are a major part of what tells the story of Blade Runner 2049 and who K really is. He had depthless compassion and curiosity even when faced with terrible adversity. There was never an act of violence for violence’s sake. Even in the end, emotionally devastated—destroyed—he never became jaded or cruel. The small things like how he interlaced his fingers, rubbing his thumbs over one another, or gripped his thighs when nervous also endeared him to me. As did his vices of smoking and drinking to aid him in feeling more normal. Even his attempts at domestic roleplay with Joi showed how careful and respectful of her. How he seemed to have a track record of lifting items from replicants he retired so they wouldn’t be forgotten also showed the depth of K’s personality. There are just so many facets to this character that I could wax on about him endlessly.
Driver is a mess and that’s a large part of the reason I love him. He’s a rizzless little weirdo with a big heart and a tangled sense of morality. He’s an emotionally muted adrenaline junkie that never seems to sleep and has to be doing something at all times. We see him with a cup of coffee three separate times and he’s going through toothpicks like a beaver, but the man refuses to smoke. He also doesn’t carry a gun, but uses his body as a weapon. He is both the scorpion and the frog in the river crossing story. He’s a shark, he’s a stuntman, he’s a werewolf, he’s a nosy neighbor, he’s my babygirl. His boss had to wingman him, but instead of having a sneaky fling with Irene before Standard got home, he adopted the whole damn family—wife, child, and husband. He tries so hard, but ultimately, he’s only good at keeping himself alive. He can only express his love through acts of service. He has to be of use or he will suffer from the lack of being needed. As with K, Driver’s story is told through his hands and the play of lights on his face. We’re not even going to talk about how I have a folder of images just of screenshots of things Driver owns plus notes on them because I’ve dissected this character under a spotlight so many times.
TLDR: Driver and K are my specialist blorbos and I’m incredibly unwell over them
#.from you#officer k#Driver#.my thoughts#I'm finally responding to asks and working on (RyGos) fics again. We're so back.#I didn't mean to fall off the face of the Earth lmao#One of these days I'm going to snap and make hand posts for these two. Or a post about the crap that's in their apartments. I just...#I have too many thoughts. Far far too many.

i’m baaaaaaack
what petnames do you think diff ryan characters use
HIIIII
omg i love this one HEHE <3
ok so -
i think dan, jacob, colt, holland, noah, luke, dean are all people who would settle for basic, yet classic petnames like 'baby', 'babe' - holland and colt would also use 'sweetheart'. holland i feel, when he's drunk or particularly endeared, would say 'my love' or 'my girl/man'. jacob would use 'sweetheart' occasionally. colt would be the kind of guy to shorten the person's name and use it as a petname very often as well!
court, julian, driver - all three very reserved men, with feelings they just can't entirely comprehend and express. i feel like court would treasure the person's name and just call them by it, but everytime he does his tone just changes entirely, becoming soft and fond - but he does occasionally use 'sweetheart' and 'darling'. julian uses few words, but when he does, I suppose he would use 'darling', or 'love'. driver doesn't say shit LMAO - he sticks to the basic few words, doing all the talking through his eyes. if he had to use a petname, it would probably be 'sweetheart'.
as for lars and k, tricky, tricky boys. lars...would be very respectful, i feel, only very rarely using petnames, more used to saying your name, but he would use 'baby', sometimes. k would use 'darling', 'love', 'sweetheart' - highly doubt he'd use 'babe' or 'baby'. he has a preference for 'darling', though.
as for ken, I'll split it pre and post patriarchy. pre-patriarchy, the boy is DOWN BAD. he worships your name, not even joking - he could never call u ANY petname without your consent. post-patriarchy, he would probably pick up words like 'baby', 'babe', and maybe 'babygirl/boy'? MAYYBE.
THATS ABOUT IT HAHA
i mightve missed a few but that's probably cuz I haven't watched those movies yet. otherwise, do tell me!
hope this was like at least 5% accurate - this is very subjective btw :))
thanks for the ask, jade! hope you're well <33

Kisses #35, Colt and K
※ Prompt: Kisses // 35. Gentle Stroking of the cheeks while kissing // Colt Seavers x Officer K ※ Word count: 389 ※ Author's Note: I'm afraid this drabble might have given me too many thoughts for this pairing...
Logically, K knows that he shouldn’t be indulging himself like this. The consequences for this emotional entanglement will the hardest thing that he has ever been made to swallow. He flinches back at the remembrance of what is waiting for him if discovered. Images of rubber mats flooded with bottomless pools of blood and viscera dart across his mind’s eye in warning.
His biggest mistake leans forward after him as he unwillingly creates distance between their bodies.
“Hey,” Colt says, warm breath puffing over the Nexus’s lips.
Their noses bump together. K shudders at the simple contact, throat clicking as he involuntarily swallows. His breath stalls in his chest. It restarts with a jerky inhale at the sensation of Colt’s cupping his hand over the curve of K’s jaw.
“You’re okay. I’m okay. We’re okay.”
All K can do is nod. He wants those words to be true with every carefully chosen strand of DNA in his body. He cannot help but press into the man’s touch. Nor can he resist anchoring himself by grasping at him. All of this can and will be taken from him. He knows this more than he knows himself.
Colt’s thumb rubs gently at his cheekbone as if rewarding him for his trust. Against everything K has been taught by others, the gesture is nothing as transactional as that. It’s simple, untainted affection.
He sighs into the press of lips against his own. He relishes the way Colt’s facial hair catches on his stubble. It feels real—as real as the way his handler’s shoulders shift underneath his palms. To be touched and desiring to touch in return… he would be told that he is wanting retirement.
Colt is cradling K’s face in both hands now, holding him as though he were priceless, cherished, loved. Tears sting at his eyes, threatening to escape from under his eyelids. He wills them to not fall. They do not.
He will tuck this memory away; of careful fingers stroking down his face, tracing the outline of his jaw, and working their way into the short hairs of his nape. It will be held close to his chest. He will take this moment out again and again until it is as tattered and worn as the photograph he had found in Sapper Mortan’s home mere hours ago.

The Fall Guy Review
Fall guy was alright I guess. Stunts and action were top tier and carried the movie but I felt the story and writing were kinda meh. Ryan was great as always. 6.5/10. What I think happened to me was I got caught up in the hype and cacophony of promo content. I was bombarded with a nigh-incessant amount of videos, interviews, pictures, stunt bits, etc. All of which made it seem like this movie was going to be larger than life and I'd be a fool if I didn't go see it. I even saw the damn thing in IMAX(to a crowd of about half a dozen people, including myself...ouch). Again, really, REALLY great stunts, that's what makes this movie more than just average. And of course it should have great stunts! Very impressive. The comedy was mediocre aside from the physical comedy from the action and stunt sequences. Ryan channeled Jackie Chan in a few scenes where physical comedy/props/action were blended. I think I maybe had a little chuckle/exhale of breath at 40% of the dialogue jokes. That's entirely subjective though, of course. I just didn't find most of the jokes thigh-slapping. One little line got me to cackle. 🥒<-if you've seen it you'll get it. The love story felt weak and at times I thought I was listening to dialogue that people in their early 20s would be saying, yet these are supposed to be 40+ year olds. Take that as you will. It just didn't vibe with me. I think it was just poor writing. Plot was very predictable and the supposed "twist" everyone was frothing at the mouth over online was obvious. Overall I didn't hate it, I thought it was entertaining enough to enjoy but nothing more than that. Emily and Ryan obviously did a great job, but I think the script wasn't good so they did their best with what they had. Idk I feel kinda bad about it. I don't like being the contrarian in the fandom and I know in the next few days my dash will be LOADED with Fall Guy praise and content, so I think most people really loved it. Sorry for the essay, I just want to maybe explain my POV. I will say that sometimes hyperfixation on an actor makes one don a pair of rose-tinted glasses and love everything they're in, regardless of what it is. That's not a dig at anyone, btw. ONE LAST THING that made me upset: The trailers showed everything. EVERYTHING. If you saw the trailers, you saw a large chunk of the movie. Most of the gags, most of the plot, many of the stunts, they even showed a scene of the ENDING ffs. STOP DOING THIS ISTG.

Hey! What are your worldbuilding headcanons for First Men in your AU’s? You’re very good at building for Andals and Valyrians. I love the concept of rygos and the funeral rites for Valyrians and Andals. There appears to be a misconception due to Stark-wank that the First Men are incredibly progressive but from reading F&B it was the First Men that did the first night whilst it was unheard of south of the neck (apart from dragonstone) + that their 'progressive on women' whilst there hasn't been a ruling lady of winterfell in like 3 thousand years.
I think First Men were like any other human group: mostly neutral, had some great peeps and some absolute assholes. Now, i can't speak for GRRM, because I don't think his worldbuilding is showing realistic patterns when it comes to the populations, but I can run wild with what we got to work with.
We know that a) Westeros is the size of South America, ie - it covers vastly different biotopes from low UV tundra in the North to the scorching hot subtropics and dry tropics in Dorne. Mountainous regions with lower air pressure, regions ridden with disease-spreading mosquitos. You have the periodical extinction events. What i'm trying to say is that the moment they arrived, they became subject to various evolutionary pressures. I won't bore you all with my speculations about the Dornish Bottleneck event and the possible climatic conditions that allowed them to walk to Dorne (now that i think about it, the breaking of the Arm had to change the sea currents and the subsequent climate), but we know that they came 12k years ago, with horses and perhaps dogs and with some knowledge about bronze metallurgy (though my guess would be copper metallurgy at most instead of full bronze, we need to make the technological stasis at least somewhat plausible).
The First Men came from the southwestern region of Essos. We can extrapolate that they resembled the indigenous people of the same latitude - Dornish, Ghiscari. Only when they spread all over the continent and the natural selection started to be applied, we get the regional variations, like we got in real life.
We don't know if they were already agriculturalists or if they lived a more nomadic lifestyle. The fact that they arrived on foot indicates that they were quite mobile. We know little to nothing about their cultural practices, but some echoes are still there. We know they had their own pre-tree god pantheons (Elenei, Garth, Storm and Drowned god), we know that in the Reach there was a fertility-agricultural cult with Garth as the central figure. We know they had some deeply held taboos (guestright, kinslaying).
GRRM treats First Men as this one single unit, but that is simply not possible. The geographical scale alone renders it unrealistic. There is no way there was one Old Tongue - with the natural barriers preventing communities from easy communication, with the lack of widely used writing system and media. There had to be hundreds of languages at some point, hundreds of tribes, ethnic groups, each different from another.
Now, we all know the adage that only in North the First Men's blood runs strong. That's nice, but it's again, relatively unrealistic, since Andals were one ethnic group fleeing one kingdom and entering a whole ass continent that had been inhabited for quite a long time. While iron is advantageous on a large scale (easier to produce), the advantage wasn't THAT massive to completely override the whole continent. I can accept the Vale, the Riverlands and the eastern Stormlands and Dorne as having Andal majority, I can accept Andal nobility marrying First Men rullers, cementing their cultural impact, I can even accept proselytising holy wars happening later, bringing in the hegemony of the Faith in and Andal-based languages, but I draw the line of newcomers from a geographically restricted area completely suplanting the previous population, leaving only the North as the sole survivor. This is not Europeans vs Indigenous Americans situation, this is Yamnaya nomads vs Neolithic farmers analogy.
This obsessive tangent aside, when we want to know whether or not the First Men were more progressive, we need to look at both the few extant First Men groups , and the historical records.
If we consider the least Faith-based lands as the most culturally First Men, we end up with the a) Wildling, b)Northmen and..... the c) Ironborn. Even though the context is different, both wildlings and the Ironborn practice bridal kidnappings. Ygritte and Val can say what they want, but a dagger is not enough to make sure that you get to be tied to a man you really want. All that means is that a man will kidnap the woman he knows he can overpower and unfortunately, women are seldom blessed with Brienne's strength and even wildlings use ropes. In a society where might make right (wildlings, ironborn), women get the shorter end of the stick because the culture places the highest value on physical strength.
Now, Northerners are a bit of a special case. If it weren't for the trees, they wouldn't be that much different from their southern neighbours. And yet there is one significant key difference in the culture. Jonquil vs Danny Flint. One song speaks about chivalry, but the other one is a westerosi snuff poem. Mind you, the story isn't written by the supposed watch members (I'm very sceptical it ever happened), but it speaks about the northerners whose cultural imagination gave birth to the tale about a young girl wandering into a forbidden place full of men only to pay the highest price.
When it comes to the historical records, at least wildlings get their brownie points for having female leaderships. Northmen get just the Mormont pack and the rest is all a wiener fest and I can't recall any Ironborn lady, with the exception of Asha, who was treated with the same respect as the other men. And that's not even accounting their treatment of the lower class women.
