I mean is it a snub when the show objectively sucked?
hi guys briefly coming back from hiatus to talk about hotd not being nominated to any emmys.
it's a pretty huge deal, with hotd s2 being the only show in the entire franchise that was not nominated for the "outstanding drama series" award.
mind you, got s8 was nominated and WON that award, but i feel like that win was mostly about saying goodbye to one of the most iconic shows on tv, rather then the season itself.
i'm honestly very surprised it was publicly snubbed like that. it's very humiliating for hbo since they were openly denying the season receiving negative reviews.
the show has to deliver on s3 - but considering it is still run by the same people who refuse to admit and learn from their mistakes it's extremely unlikely. also considering how grrm was willing to risk being sued by hbo to talk shit about s3 script on his blog... yeah it's not looking great guys...

I posted something about Harry Potter fandom being racist about something on Reddit and someone goes “well what do you expect from fans of a work by jk rowling” like I CANNOT stress to you dumbass motherfuckers enough that
1) that woman was actively targeted and radicalized by a hate group, and
2) before that she was a middle of the road liberal/center-left British woman, and
3) the 90s and early 00s were usually just like that with racism and not thinking through implications, and
4) the super racist American wizarding world stuff came after the radicalization started (you idiots were just not paying attention), AND
MOST IMPORTANTLY
5) YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO RADICALIZATION.

ADHD is so embarrassing. I ran out of conditioner and I've been too busy to go buy more so I've been showering without for like 2 days. I just turned around and finally noticed four bottles of conditioner on my shelf. I stocked up. I always stock up. How did I even forget that I stocked up? The bottles just faded into the background. What's wrong with me

Let’s see if we get into that area in OFCIR or if im gonna incubate it for another fic:D
maris fic????? im soo curious about it👀

Evidently the people want to know about Maris. So to be clear, I currently have no plans to post any Maris fic, it was just one of the ideas I was playing with before I ended up writing a poison tree. I don't think I even have the draft anymore, and all I can remember about it is the line "Maris was not the prettiest of her sisters. Which was fine, for she certainly was the cleverest." I believe it was an Aemond/Maris fic, with a focus on the Four Storms.
I actually think the Four Storms get a bad rap in the fandom, considering three out of four of them ended miserably, and we don't know what happened to the other one.
And there's a very telling detail, I think, that most people miss when it comes to Elenda Caron and her daughters.
Lady Elenda Baratheon, the widow of Storm’s End, also took a new husband that year. With Lord Borros dead and Royce an infant, Dornish incursions into the stormlands had grown more numerous, and the outlaws of the kingswood were proving troublesome. The widow felt the need of a man’s strong hand to keep the peace. She chose Ser Steffon Connington, second son of the Lord of Griffin’s Roost. Though twenty years younger than Lady Elenda, Connington had proved his valor during Lord Borros’s campaign against the Vulture King, and was said to be as fierce as he was handsome.
And I honestly think this hints at something darker about the way that Lady Elenda unloaded all of her daughters off, either as septas or wives, since her new husband would have been closer in age to her unmarried daughters. Maris joins the Silent Sisters for unknown reasons, and while it probably is just a rumor her tongue was cut out, considering that her sisters also ended pretty miserably and she was partially blamed for Aemond losing his temper and killing Luke, I am side-eyeing it.
And I also think that Cassandra gets a bad rap, as well, despite her being in pretty uncomfortable straits after the Dance. Casssandra is likely around twenty (based off of Floris' age) and unmarried, no longer the heir to Storm's End because of her new brother, has lost her chances to be princess and then queen, and now a large chunk of the eligible men have died during the recent Civil War. And I don't think she was the one who killed Jaehaera, and I think that all of the above issues made her a great target for possibly being framed in the matter of the poisoning. Or if she was actually involved, she was likely an easy mark for manipulation (and considering that Tessario was an Unwin Peake appointment.....). And her punishment being to get married off to an old man with a bunch of children, while her mother declares it will stop her plotting..... Idk, maybe you should have been more on top of things, Elenda!
And then we finally have Floris getting married off to a man old enough to be her grandfather at age 14/15, who had SEVEN sons from two prior marriages but still gets her pregnant almost immediately, leading to her dying in childbirth at only 16. I don't care how sad Thaddeus Rowan was anout his teen bride dying with his twentieth kid, you can't make me like him!!!!!!
The Four Storms are really canon OCs to me, so I'm more than a little disappointed how slept on they are, and I think Maris and Cassandra are the real standouts here.

If you blast your music without headphones, I’m legally obliged to sodomize your eye socket with a cactus covered in hot sauce.
my unpopular opinion is that i hate tiktok because now people just publicly watch loud ass videos in public spaces with no regard for anyone else. 100% it was not this bad with youtube, it’s such a different thing with tiktok. put on headphones. you are grown.

omg this is beautiful
"Do you ever dream of land?" The whale asks the tuna.
"No." Says the tuna, "Do you?"
"I have never seen it." Says the whale, "but deep in my body, I remember it."
"Why do you care," says the tuna, "if you will never see it."
"There are bones in my body built to walk through the forests and the mountains." Says the whale.
"They will disappear." Says the tuna, "one day, your body will forget the forests and the mountains."
"Maybe I don't want to forget," Says the whale, "The forests were once my home."
"I have seen the forests." Whispers the salmon, almost to itself.
"Tell me what you have seen," says the whale.
"The forests spawned me." Says the salmon. "They sent me to the ocean to grow. When I am fat with the bounty of the ocean, I will bring it home."
"Why would the forests seek the bounty of the oceans?" Asks the whale. "They have bounty of their own."
"You forget," says the salmon, "That the oceans were once their home."
#beautiful!#biology esp paleobiology is just so full of stories of struggle#and change#and the fact that life uh finds a way#it's beautiful

just adding my two cents:
even if you consider only realistic art to be worthy of admiration - look again at Dolfie's paintings. the perspective is all wonky. It's okay as an illustration, i guess, and you can see where his true passion lies (architecture) but there is nothing narative in his paintings, nothing substantial for us to go "wow, i totally want to meditate in front of that canvas". It's twee, it's kitschy. ffs, even the commitee that denied Dolfie his dream suggested that trying applying for architecture would be more in his area of skills, because that guy was not someone to push the evolution of aesthetics of his era.
my issue with the argument that "disliking ai art is inherently reactionary" is that it acts like pro-ai art people are somehow less reactionary on their views on art, when like the majority of defense's of ai art as like a higher form art are indistinguishable from the arguments people use to defend the art of like. hitler
