Yeah I got addicted pretty quickly.
Yesterday I found myself googling for shops that sell gunpla in Leipzig and well there is one and what happened after that is that I now own Gundam RX-93 and it takes care of my plants. 🌳

So a lot of people might not know the history of Hi-Nu but it appears only in the side-novel Beltorchika's Children, which is an alternate time-line telling of Char's Counterattack.
The original story for both of them was from Mobile Suit Gundam High-Streamer but Beltorchika's Children holds the most similarity to the source material and was released as a 7 volume manga with the Hi-Nu taking the place of the RX-93 V (Nu) Gundam.
Tumblr media
One other key difference between the two is that Beltorchika's Children explores the romance between Amuro and the titular Beltorchika Irma, which doesn't happen in Char's Counter Attack at all as she doesn't appear and is instead replaced by Chan Agni (pictured here on the left).
Tumblr media
The other key difference is that, like the title implies, Beltorchika is pregnant with Amuro's child at the start of the manga and this is integral to the plot of the story as this is what causes Quess to go all yandere and join with Char, rather than just being a newtype fangirl like in CCA. Also, the Axis Shock event that happens in both CCA and BC is in this case explicitly caused by the wishes of Beltorchika, Amuro, and their unborn child wishing to survive the war with the child itself calling out to Amuro using its Newtype abilities.
Most of the rest of the events play out roughly the same with some of the names changed. Amuro and Char still ascend together after the Axis Shock and Quess still dies, only here it's Hathaway explicitly that kills her, which if anything would only add to his guilt over her death in later years.
Beltorchika survives the war along with her and Amuro's child, who is theorized to potentially be the strongest Newtype ever conceived (later usurped by a Banana).
Oh, and the reason why they went with CCA rather than BC? Because they knew the Charmuro fans would HATE the Beltorchika/Amuro + Baby angle. In Tomino's words, quoting the Gundam film committee investors, ”nobody wants to see a married Amuro”.

Jona Basta and the Gundam Narrative and how the existence of these 2 showcase Gundam NT's main point, or I talk about Gundam NT part 1
Gundam Narrative (the movie) on a both narrative (get it) and meta level approaches the Gundam franchise with a single point, having to live in someone else's shadow sucks.
(Obviously huge Gundam Narrative spoilers ahead)
Tumblr media
I will go into every single main character in the movie and the mentioned Meta elements, but first I'll start with the protagonist:
Jona Basta, a war orphan turned a experiment by the Titans, not even good enough to be turned into a Cyber-Newtype, he's a unremarkable soldier for the Federation, more than likely choosing this path as his upbringing left him with no other options and one of the 3 Miracle Children he's the one without anything, while Michele is now working for Luio & Co. and Rita is in the Phenex, Jona is an ensign who's only here because Michele won't trust anyone else with the operation. He however is also set up to live in the shadow of Banagher Links, a young man with no achievements to his name is the next in line to deal with the Psycho frame, and yet he fails, and has to be saved by Banagher. Jona is also still stuck up on Rita which is his main driving point, to the extent that at the end when she leaves for good Jona loses all will to keep moving forward, and if it wasn't for Banagher he would have probably taken off his helmet there in the cold abyss of space, it's very clear that he's depressed with Rita being the only thing in his life being even worth looking forward to, and now that she was gone together with Michele the only thing that could convince him to not end it all just yet was the living embodiment of hope Banagher Links who tells him that even though he's alone now, someday that will change.
Now onto the RX-9 NT Gundam, or Gundam Narrative, the original prototype testbed for Amuro Ray's RX-93 v Gundam, a unit that's not even deserving of it's own armor, a unfinished suit never meant for combat that was brought around only because of it's usage of the Psycho Frame and because Michele managed to install the NT-D system on it. Just like Jona this suit was never much, completely unremarkable forced to exist in the shadow of the Gundam made for the White Devil himself, the hero who stopped Axis from freezing the Earth. The narrative isn't even good enough to have it's own primary weapon with the rifle it wields being a repurposed Beam Rifle taken from a Jegan. The suit itself also doesn't look like much, it's unfinished missing armor and not even featuring a panoramic cockpit pod, instead using a core fighter, it was outdated back when the RX-93 was being made and it most certainly outdated in UC 0097. It doesn't even survive the movie as it's shot to pieces by Zoltans Neo Zeong II and if it wasn't for Rita Jona would have died along with it.
These 2 serve as the perfect setup, they are on a meta level, rejects forced to pick up the slack for the mess made by other rejects, most notably Zoltan Akkanen, or the guy who I'll talk about tomorrow, along with the Taxi scene in Gundam Hathaway, the day after, Michele and Rita and something more about Hathaway.

#OnThisDay: Dec 2nd, 2018
Title: White Rabbit Cude and his armored v [Nu]
Damn, sharing my 'Cuteness Defender' artwork is been a while, since months ago. But, here I am. 😉 So, here's my throwback for Gundam Char's Counterattack's 30th Anniversary, in 2018. 🥳🤖
Gonna give credit to Romulus907's Gen 2 Cuteness Mecha uniforms. 😊👍 Because, I could be used for Cude's 2nd uniform - the Nu Uniform. With two different Nu logos on the right side; The "White Rabbit Nu" on the left and the "Rabbit Head Nu" on the right. These two logos I made were quite inspired from the original Nu and Hi-v Gundam. 😁🐇🤖⚪⚫🔴
Like-wise, his v uniform can now access his powerful "Cuteness Mecha Armor". An armor that has 6 Fin-Funnel remote weapons to control from his forehead, and it can access his Psycoframe mode from his whole armored body. The armored "Νν" - or in some Roman alphabet(s) for "Nu". 😄
IMORTANT NOTE: Cude's Nu uniform was updated, since 2022. So, I can't choose which is the best? So, time will tell... 😅🤷‍♀️
v CudeBased on: RX-93 v Gundam [CLICK ME!]
Armament(s):
• 60mm Vulcan Gun Mounted in the head, these shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire but little power and can't damage the thick armor of a mobile suit, though it can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors. The weapons are ideal for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles, small vehicles, etc.
• Beam Saber The ν armor has a standard-issue beam saber stored on its left forearm, which can be drawn quickly to attack enemies in close range. Compared to earlier models, it is more energy efficient due to the 'Auto Power On' feature, which enables the saber to instantaneously generate a beam blade only during moments of impact with enemy suits.
• Large Beam Saber Stored on the backpack, it presumably has a higher power rating (0.85 MW) than the beam saber stored on the left forearm and is used more often. The large beam saber's pommel is capable of emitting a short beam blade on its end, but it is never seen used.
• Beam Rifle A high-powered beam rifle with a output of 3.8MW. At maximum output, the beam fired is comparable in power to that of a battleship-class main cannon from the same time period. Can also function as a beam machine gun.
• New Hyper Bazooka The ν armor is armed with a 280mm five round magazine hyper bazooka that has improved firing range and destructive power compared to the Hyper Bazooka used by other Earth Federation. The bazooka can be fired even when stored on the backpack, catching the opponent by surprise. It is capable of destroying an enemy unit in a single shot and is mostly used to take out slow, heavily armored targets.
• Shield A custom shield emblazoned with Amuro's emblem. It features a built-in 7.8 MW beam cannon and four missiles. Amuro uses it in many strategic ways, such as fooling enemies that he was shot down by leaving the shield and the New Hyper Bazooka, and attacking enemies once they lower their guards. Attached to the left arm's beam saber compartment.
• Fin Funnel A remote weapon unique to the ν armor. Despite their name, the fin funnels are in function "bits", since they have built-in generators rather than the E-caps used by funnels. While this made them much more expensive to construct, this had the enormous benefit of giving the fin funnels a tremendously long operational time. Circling the battlefield on their own, the fin funnels could be utilized in far more creative and strategic ways than standard funnels. Model number: AEV/PFF93AR.
The actual beam fired by the fin funnels was also more powerful, given that they are emitted by a generator instead of an E-cap, allowing for better performance compared to Zeon's funnels. The fin funnels also had the ability to generate a unique beam shield, known as a "fin funnel barrier", to protect against both beam weaponry and solid projectiles. Although the fin funnels proved incredibly effective and flexible in purpose, they were also much larger than the standard funnel, making them easier targets to shoot down. With the help of the Psycoframe technology, Cude can control the fin funnels with his thoughts more effectively.
• Beam Machine Gun Originally the standard armament of AMS-119 Geara Doga, the beam machine gun is capable of rapid firing beam shots and is powered by a replaceable e-pac. The beam machine gun is available in two different version, with one version can be optionally equipped with a underslung grenade launcher.
Special Equipment(s) / Feature(s):
• Birdlime Launchers Fires an adhesive substance from the hands that can be used to repair small cracks in colony wall or to restrain soldiers on foot.
• Dummy Launchers Stored in the hands the launchers can deploy mobile suit sized dummy balloons as a decoys.
• Psycoframe Cude's v armor is composed of microscopic Psycommureceptors that allows him to control the suit as if it is their own body. A psycommu receiver is located at his v-fin antenna head, once the green is litting his whole armor opens mechanism to release the Psychoframe from shoulders, torso to his feet, a transformation mechanism takes inspired of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam's NTD Destroy Mode. It also features airmats that are used in case of impact.

Super Robot Rollcall: Nu Arrivals
v Gundam
Tumblr media
Source Material: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
Model number: RX-93
Height: 24.2 meters
Power Source: Nuclear Fusion Reactor
Real World Designer: Yutaka Izubuchi
Amuro's personal-use prototype Mobile Suit. That's not a V for Victory in the name, it's the greek letter N (pronounced "new") in lowercase, so this machine is more often referred to as the "Nu Gundam" in the english-speaking world.
Hastily built in just 3 months by taking inspiration from all Gundam frames built so far and utilizing many pre-existing parts under the Londo Bell's jurisdiction, and further powered up by the leaked Psychoframe technology.
Being one of the most popular Mobile Suits ever made, it's no surprise that it boasts a massive number of SRW appearances, rivalling even the eternal champion and soaring iron castle, Mazinger Z.
Tumblr media
It's got great Mobility and Movement Range, comes with an I-Field (extremely powerful anti-beam barrier), incredible range thanks to its signature Fin Funnels... but its damage output is slightly underwhelming without its combination attack, and its combination attack will not be available for most of the game.
Speaking of not being available for most of the game, that's also true for this machine! It'll be with us to the end, but it'll spend most of the game away, and when it comes back it will only have whatever upgrades you put onto it right now. If you pick the Nadesico route at the beginning of the game, you're better off not even putting Amuro in this, sadly.
Fun Fact: In Fukuoka, there is a life-sized statue of a variation of this machine; known as the RX-93ff v Gundam, it sports a single large Fin Funnel known as the "Long Range Fin Funnel". Pragmatically speaking, this was done to make sure it wouldn't easily topple, as typhoons happen often in Kyushu.
It's just a statue, not a moving machine, so you could say it's just for show.

Mass-Produced v Gundam
Tumblr media
Source Material: Kunio Okawara Collection (M-MSV)
Model Number: RX-94
Height: 21.2 meters
Power Source: Nuclear Fusion Reactor
Real World Designer: Kunio Okawara
Just as the name implies, it's a v Gundam designed with mass-production in mind. For that reason, it allows for easy changing of Incoms to Funnels and vice-versa.
Tumblr media
For a secret unit, at first glance, the MP is rather underwhelming. Unimpressive stats and even less impressive damage, with its strongest move, the Incoms, only barely breaching the 4k threshold at max upgrades. Its long range is good, yes, as is the fact it doesn't require Will to use, but it's still not really all that impressive.
Much like the "true" v Gundam, this machine will be leaving eventually and be gone for most of the game, but unlike the v Gundam, when it comes back it'll have quite a few more tricks up its sleeve, which will make it much more convenient to use.
Fun Fact: Supposedly, at one point the MP v Gundam was to make an appearance in Gundam Unicorn, but this didn't come to pass and its role was taken up by the Silver Bullet. This info is on the japanese SRW wiki with no source, so take it with a grain of salt.

Ah yeah, the TR-6 Woundwort, that thing is one of my favorites and so goddamn weird.
If you've ever seen Gundam AGE, where the whole point of the "AGE System" is about modularity of design, the TR line from Zeta was like that on psychedelics. The TR Gundam's aren't really what you're seeing there, it's actually just the Core Drum Frame that all the other components attach to:
Tumblr media
And from that piece you get all of THIS:
Tumblr media
There are 16 different variants of the TR-6 Gundam and each of them is unique in their own weird and insane way:
Tumblr media
From the Haze'n-thley II-Rah:
Tumblr media
To the Queenly:
Tumblr media
To the most "normal" of them all, the Hazel II:
Tumblr media
I would love for them to adapt this Manga into an anime but honestly with how advanced some of these suits get it would probably end up like Thunderbolt and not be considered truly canon since it takes place 3 year PRIOR to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and all of these Gundams are more advanced than Zeta and several of them are up near the RX-93-V Nu Gundam, which didn't come about till ten years later in canon.
literally who ever said a mech couldn't be hung
