RWRB Scene: Cuddling

I wanna talk about the cuddle scene immediately after the V&A scene because it makes me so happy

It's short, but it's so freaking sweet and loving. Henry being the little spoon, Alex's arms completely encompassing him, hand gripping Henry's wrist even in his sleep, Henry waking up (side note: who the fuck just wakes up and can open their eyes fully), seeing Alex's hand on his wrist and smiling with so much content, then snuggling further into Alex's embrace.

It's such a sweet moment, it encapsulates both of their feelings at that point so well. Alex holding on and fighting to be on Henry's side even in his sleep. Henry finally accepting Alex's love and letting that encompass him. I'm not sure if they designed these two actions with this symbolism/intention, but it's there.

So speaking of designing, this scene wasn't planned? It was apparently a spur-of-the-moment decision? I'm so curious about the story behind this: was the original script just the deleted breakfast scene immediately after the V&A dance scene? This scene had to be on location, were they originally filming the breakfast scene? Who was the one to come up with the idea? Was there trial and error in deciding how the boys were gonna cuddle? WHO CAME UP WITH THE HAND GRIP THING???

Also who made them strip lol 😂 Henry wears clothes when he sleeps unless he and Alex had sex the night before, so are they implying that they came back from V&A and made love like some sort of consummation? (so the opposite of the book's "this might be the last time" sex) (and the sun was already rising when they left, boys did you two fucking sleep at all, what time did you two fucking get up)

And Alex's other arm is actually under their pillow stretches to the headboard, and I'm curious how is Alex/Taylor's arm not dead from a blood circulation issue lol

There's just so much about this movie that I want to know, so much love and care went into this movie and it shows, I just wish they could verbalize it

I swear I can listen to stories on making this movie forever

Really like this shot.

Love the way Henry sat back, just one simple move and suddenly he's not nervous or stiff, but confident and prepared to fight for himself. After all the struggle and loneliness, he finally showed his strength. This shot looked very powerful to me.

Tonight, Henry's silly and warm and ready, his body quick and smooth to give Alex what he's looking for, laughing and incredulous at his own responsiveness to touch. Alex leans down to kiss him, and Henry murmurs into the corner of his mouth, "Ready when you are, love."

Henry told the story!! God I want to cry…

Nicholas’ delivery was beautiful. When he finished the story, his face was full of resignation while he said the seemingly hopeful sentence, “ the prince’s heart beats freely once again.”

It was heartbreaking.

This scene added on the reasons that triggered Alex to try to confess his love later and I really feel sorry for him now more than before. I think in this scene he heard Henry saying “ I love you” in the most romantic way. Also he heard so much hurt and loneliness it’s as Henry was crying for help. And Alex desperately wanted to help him, telling him he was loved, and so deeply.

But that’s not what Henry wanted to tell him. Alex asked if it’s true that he couldn’t let anyone fall in love with. Henry’s answer was: yes, he couldn’t let anyone take off his armour despite how deeply in love he was with Alex and how happy he was to because of it. Alex lay back on the brick with a relaxed smile after hearing the peasant part because he thought that was what Henry wanted to tell him — a happy ending fairytale. The camera focused on Henry alone after that so I think Alex completely missed just how torn and devastated Henry was when he uttered the final part of the story.

Henry was right in the Kensington Palace scene. He did tell Alex over and over, with words, stories or actions, how in love he was with Alex. He also did tell Alex why that didn’t make it possible for them being together, forever. Alex never linked the two things together though. He didn’t understand why that could be the case. He must be so confused when Henry left, thinking that he read the wrong message, that Henry didn’t love him back.
