Here’s a possibly tough question!
It’s one thing to want to bring a character you like back to life, but what if you had to bring one back that you hate?
Which personally hated RWBY character would you choose?
Extra question I just thought of while typing this!
You can revive your fav deceased character in exchange for also reviving your most hated deceased character!
Who are they?
Well, if we're going by levels of hate it'd have to be Adam Taurus. I can't even imagine the trauma Blake and Yang would experience seeing him again.
Granted it would be objectively hilarious for him to see them obviously together and in love and if they fought, it'd taken even less time to defeat him given their current level of combat synergy.
The character I'd bring back to life is Penny. While I still think she'll be back I'm not 100% confident and she and Ruby deserve a chance to be happy together.

Am i the only one that gets irked when people compare anything that has elemental type abilities to atla, I saw one of your asks mention it when talking about rwby and I'm like not everything is avatar
No but fr it's so annoying. The four elements are such a common trope in fiction and it's insane that only RWBY ever gets accused of being an ATLA clone because of it.
And even if it was inspired by ATLA, literally nothing else about the show is similar to it in any way. Not even the way in which the elements are used is similar. In ATLA the elements are a core part of everything in the story, they are the whole reason for it's existence. In RWBY the elements are like, a singular element of the maidens' powers. They aren't even isolated to one maiden or season, every maiden can use every element because the point of it is that it's magic, not that it's elemental magic.
And if you want to get even more pendantic and say RWBY ripped off the idea of "four" elements, THAT'S NOT ATLA EXCLUSIVE EITHER. And hell, the theme of "four" matters so much more to RWBY and than it ever did to ATLA. Four is a very important number to RWBY, it's a symbol of completeness and synergy. It means fucking nothing to ATLA beyond the coincidence that there are four elements.
Trying to call RWBY an ATLA rip off is the #1 way to show me you aren't actually thinking when you criticize RWBY. And very likely proof that you haven't watched the show beyond volume 1, if at all.

Welcome to the Tech Girl Tourney!
With a whopping 64 gals who are cyborgs, robots, programs, and more this is shaping up to be a fierce and fun competition!
Here are some rules and such before I give you a written list of contenders and their schedules.
RULES.
Play nice with each other. No harassment or bullying of any kind will be tolerated. It’s a silly little competition! Stay silly! Stay kind!
Think to yourself: "is what I'm about to type about my opponent something I'd like to hear about my favorite blorbo or fandom?" If the answer is "no" don't type it. Hype up your blorbo rather than trash-talk the other gal.
Propaganda is welcome and encouraged (so long as you're following rules 1 & 2). If I miss your propaganda don't hesitate to hop in my inbox and point it out to me. I don't always get notifications on this tumblr account for some reason.
HERE BE SPOILERS (potentially). I don't know every fandom in this tournament but given the nature of these sort of characters, spoilers are highly likely for character reveals! By continuing to follow this blog and participate in this tournament you're consenting to seeing spoilers. I would tag them but I genuinely don't know which characters are spoilers and which aren't.
Play nice with me, your friendly neighborhood tournament runner. I am not a professional tournament runner. I am just another person on the internet with feelings. Don't come flying into my inbox to yell at me about things like seeding, or that your specific blorbo didn't get in, or that you think a certain character doesn't count. I will just delete and block messages that I feel are too hostile toward me. I've seen the kinda stuff other poll runners have had to put up with and I don't want to deal with it here. I just want to have fun!
All polls will go up at 12 pm EST and be up for 1 day each except the final poll which will be up for a week.
With that out of the way! Onto the contenders and schedule!

I've just finished FFVII Rebirth and RWBY's back with new content, so obviously those two things are the only thing on my mind right now. So of course with my brainrot I have to imagine and conceptualize what the RWBY characters would play like in FF7 rebirth. Especially since Monty was a fan of Final Fantasy.
For people playing Rebirth, there's not going to be any story spoilers, but this will go into gameplay and talk about certain abilities in the game as comparison.
This is mostly just 'how would these characters be designed in this gameplay?', so I'm not really making any big changes to Rebirth's systems to account for RWBY's in-universe mechanics. While Dust is similar to materia, there's some notable differences but I'm ignoring those differences for the sake of this. So these characters will all use Dust/Materia the way the game does, using mp or something rather than having dust be like ammo. And speaking of MP, same case. Aura is both HP and MP in RWBY, but for the sake of this, everyone's having separate bars for those.
My plan is to generally talk about the overall gameplay identity of each character, along with specific details like if they have attacks after dodging worth mentioning or holding square produces a unique attack or such. I will not be talking about synergy, at least, not in this post. Maybe in a future one if I have the attention span.
For the first of these posts I'm tackling everyone's favorite blonde brawler
Yang
Basic Idea
I'm starting with Yang because... she was the easiest. But not too easy. It's not like we can slap on Tifa's moveset and stats and call it a day. Tifa's combo focused gameplan is fun and fitting for a martial artist, but it lacks the defining features of Yang's semblance. Yang's the toughest member of her team by a long shot and her semblance builds up as she takes damage, so it's instead easier to take inspiration from Red XIII's Vengeance Mode. However, not everything of Red's is usable. Red features a lot of supportive moves that apply buffs or healing and that's not really in line with Yang's straightforward, frontline fighting style, so I'd ideally take a mix of Red's ability to turn defense into resources as well as Tifa's explosive damage potential.
In keeping in line with this mix of tank and damage dealer, ideally Yang would have comparatively high health and defenses, though I can see magic defense being noticeably lower, along with good attack and low 'magic' or whatever the dust equivalent would be. Controversially though, I'd put her speed rather low. Yang's not slow, but everything's relative, especially in video games and video game balance. Comparing to everyone else on Team RWBY, Yang's slow. I'm not too sure on luck, but I'm leaning more towards low. Yang strikes me as doing a lot of damage raw rather than relying on situational damage like crits.
Yang, like Tifa, uses martial arts, so she has a short attack range that doesn't have much spread. As such, when coming out of a dodge, Yang will do a spinning kick. I get she's a punch girl, but she's not exclusively using punches. Holding square has her do a close range shot gun blast that can push enemies back. I'd also say Yang's dodge is only average. Again, relative speeds. She's got Ruby and Blake on her team, Yang has to be average at dodging at best by comparison.
Burn Mode
We gotta talk about Yang's unique mechanic. As stated earlier, I think elements from both Red XIII and Tifa work, so I'm trying to mesh them together. At the fundamental level, it works like Vengeance where blocking builds up a meter. However, this meter has several levels, much like Tifa's Chi or Cait Sith's moogle stuff. Obviously, building more levels increases the potency of the Burn Mode, which is functionally a super mode. I'm thinking maybe 3 levels? Like Red, Yang's attacks get a massive boost and increased range and the button used to transform is replaced with a new attack.
Unlike Red, this attack will drain the form's meter, similar to Tifa using up levels of Chi and falling to the lower level. Also, these levels drop quicker than Tifa's Chi or Red's Vengeance. This is just a byproduct of what I'm trying to achieve with Yang. While being a tank/dps hybrid can be a rather simple character, I want to give Yang's fighting game plan depth and complexity. Have her be able to fight smarter like in the show. It's why I want a healthy mix from both characters. Tifa's chi is cool, but you ultimately just spend all of it on a staggered enemy and there's no other uses for it as the buffs it gives you passively aren't enough to be worth considering, so Yang's Burn Mode needs to have passive benefits closer to Red's Vengeance than Tifa's Unbridled Strength. But it also needs to run out in a decent time frame to make spending Burn levels acceptable. I want that conflict of deciding whether or not using a level of burn for a potent attack is worth it. And similarly to Red, I want a lot of interplay between Yang's super mode and her abilities.
Abilities
I'm not going to make enough abilities to match the Rebirth characters. They have 10 abilities, which is an insane amount to be doing for 4 characters for a 'for fun' theory craft. There are certain requisite things Yang needs for abilities. For one, a rather standard damaging ability. You know, your Bravers, Divekicks, and Sidewinders. Likely some sort of punch. Easy enough.
Second thing, Yang's very block heavy, so like Cloud and Red, she gets an ability that puts her in a guard stance that builds up meter faster and is functionally a better guard. I call it Block Party, and no, I will not be using puns this entire section.
Most of Yang's abilities I want to play with Burn in some way to create that possibility for smart play while staying true to her fighting abilities. Dragon Throw is probably the ability that I've best made to fit this mold. In base, Yang grabs an enemy and chucks them at another enemy. In Burn, Yang instead grabs the enemy, and in true FF fashion, leaps into the air and comes crashing down on a different enemy. This gives Yang a repositioning tool without detracting from the brawler fantasy. I think this is also not out of the question as there's a few abilities in Rebirth that bring enemies closer, so I don't see any problem with just straight up manhandling them like this.
Meteor Impact is Yang's basic AoE attack where she slams the ground. It interacts with Burn the same way Dragon Throw does. While out of Burn, it's decent, but in Burn, it's range and power increases. It would be a simple and effective tool for people who like using Burn in a straightforward manner.
Bombshell is an ability that uses Burn meter the other way. You don't have to be in Burn mode to improve the move, the move will simply eat meter from Burn by default. Yang attaches sticky bombs to the enemy that go off the next time they're hit with an ability. The amount of stickies attached can be increased by holding down the command and spending meter. It's a move that has some thought that can be put in it. It doesn't deal immediate damage, so you have to either be willing to wait or have resources left over to set them off. You could attach bombs to an enemy and then Dragon Throw them to make them a living bomb. You can set them up when the enemies stagger is nearly complete so you can rebuild your ATB and resources and go for a truly devastating combo. You can go full throttle on the bombs or hold back so you can still enter Burn.
The next ability is one I really wanted to make once I had the concept of Yang down as a fighter with a lot of variability. Golden Glow takes inspiration from Unfettered Fury being a side grade to Unbridled Strength. It's an alterative to Burn. While Burn quickly burns out and has potent offenses, Golden Glow is a mode that lasts longer but instead focuses on Yang's defenses. While Yang mostly uses her semblance to attack, she's also used it a few times to take hits. An ability like this has lots of synergy with Yang's abilities that want her to be in her super form, but doesn't play as well with moves like Bombshell that prefer having meter being quick to build and spend rather than something long lasting.
Limits
Limits aren't hard to do, but I should still talk about them anyways. A solid chunk of Rebirth's cast has a basic Level 1 Limit, a Level 2 that increases stagger a lot, and a Level 3 which just does tons more damage. That's not to say all of them are like that. Red notably gets healing from his LB1 and a longer lasting mode from his LB2.
LB1 I'd make a basic damaging limit. It'd be just one big strong punch, like the one used against Junior in the Yellow Trailer, to mirror how quick a lot of the other LB1s are.
LB2 would put Yang in Burn with 1 extra level. If used while you have level 3, this would put you in the otherwise unreachable level 4. Because of course there's 4, this a RWBY character, I can't not slap the number 4 on things. I'd probably use a scene from the JL movie part 2 actually. The one where Yang activates her semblance, jumps up, and starts peppering the battlefield with gunfire. I just think it's good to have a little bit of variety between all the melee combat.
LB3, due to being a whole process to get up to, would be huge stagger increase and huge damage. It's meant to help end the fight, regardless of how the enemy is currently looking. I actually think I'd like her to do something new for this attack honestly. LB1 already uses something from the early RWBY days and LB2 uses more recent stuff, so there's a good spread of representation.

Rant of the week: RWBY
Ah yes, I was waiting for this one. If you ever wondered what really grinds my gears and what kind of shape my ideal fictional world would have, well you're in luck. Because RWBY is the one show that probably comes the closest to that.
I remember when my then-best friend showed me this animated show and told me she loved it. Back then only 3 seasons were out and the show looked like it had a budget of around 7 $.
Yet I still fell in love with it. The perfect synergy of building characters, story, comedy, and voice acting made this my all-time favorite.
Season 9 finished a few months ago and I still had the exact same amount of fun watching as I did over 7 years ago.
So put on your seatbelts and let's dive into the world of remnant!
Tumblr media
RWBY takes place in a world that is probably the most comparable to My Hero Academia but much darker.
The story revolves mostly around our four main characters: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long.
All of them have the same goal: They want to become Huntresses.
On remnant there are creatures to be found that are lured by negative emotions and death. They torture the human race and it seems like they have only one goal: destruction. These are called: the creatures of Grimm.
Hunters and Huntresses are the ones whose primary focus is protecting the human race from these monsters. Usually, they are assigned into teams of four where the letters of their names combined make out their team name.
In the world of remnant, every person also has a special kind of natural ability called a semblance. Naturally, Hunters and Huntresses make good use of them in combat.
The story starts off by introducing us to all these characters in a very unique way and then proceeds to show us their school life.
Along come several hardships.
Tumblr media
Ruby struggles to be a team leader because she is the youngest and thinks she doesn't have what it takes.
Tumblr media
Weiss comes from a rich family, can't stand Ruby at all and it's abundantly clear that she isn't good at working in a team.
Tumblr media
Blake is very quiet and seems to have a dark past that she doesn't want to talk about. On top of that: she is a Faunus. Magical creatures that are basically humans with animal traits. Therefore they are different from humans and of course, that means... they face discrimination.
Tumblr media
Yang is Ruby's older sister and tries her best to support her and become friends with the rest of the team. She is the one that mostly contributes to comedy but has a knack for letting her emotions get the better of her. Also: she seems to develop a certain attachment to Blake
I could go on but it would make this post waaay too long if I did and would also spoil stuff for people who might wanna watch it.
Besides team RWBY there is another team that plays a major role in team JNPR which contains my favorite character which is why I mention it xD but saying more about that certain character would probably lead to spoilers. People who know the show can probably guess who it is:
Tumblr media
Pyrrha Nikos. The rising star of Beacon Academy. Everyone seems to think she is the best of the best and put her on a pedestal, whereas in reality she just wants to be seen as a normal person... yet almost nobody seems to treat her normally... almost.
I don't think I wanna make the post much longer so let's go to the question we've been waiting for:
What makes RWBY so great?
This is gonna sound a bit anticlimactic but I honestly don't really know what fascinates me so much about this show.
I always watched it and there was never a single thing, a single plot hole, or bad character development that bothered me.
The show is not perfect by any means and there is quite a lot of drama around the producing company Rooster Teeth with them not treating their employees right...
On top of that after 2015 the show took a drastic turn which is very much noticeable because the original creator Monty Oum died.
Despite all of this I love RWBY with all of my heart. The introduction of the characters. The unique world-building. The simple yet effective design of the story. It's just nothing you'd ever see in any anime. There was never a major necessity of explaining lore to the viewer until Volume 6.
The voice acting is sometimes a bit weird in the beginning but usually still very decent which is amazing considering Monty Out just picked up Kara Eberle (voice of Weiss) from a receptionist's position (hilarious trivia xD).
But he knew what he was doing and it really showed.
I can only recommend watching it for yourself. You will find most of it on Rooster Teeths website except for Volume 9 which is only on Crunchyroll.
The first couple of episodes are also very short but effective.
If you love fantasy and shows with characters with special powers... *cough* and girl-bosses *cough* this is the show for you xD
Hm... I always feel like I'm missing a few things in these posts. I don't even know if I describe the series optimally so I'm a bit unsure about these extremely long posts.
Feel free to tell me if there is something you're missing or if there is something else you wanna know about.
Thanks for reading ^^

// For my own future reference:
Naruto Chakra is congruent with Pokemon Aura, which is congruent with RWBY Aura, and which is derived from the real life concepts of the Odic Force, Orgone energy
Pokemon Types are congruent with Chakra Natures, which are congruent with Dust Types, which are then congruent with Thaumcraft Aspects; Dust is a crystallized analogue to Essentia caused by the 'melting point' of the energy being 'higher' for Dust
Pokemon Moves are equivalent to Jutsu (Physical attacks / Taijutsu, Special attacks / Ninjutsu, and Status moves / Genjutsu)
Pokemon Abilities are congruent with Kekkei Genkai, which are congruent with RWBY Semblances; can be further divided between Passive skills (Poke-Body ~ Physical traits like the Sharingan ~ Defensive semblances like Qrow's TF fetish enabler) and Active skills (Poke-Power ~ Jutsu derived from those traits, like Kamui for the Sharingan ~ Offensive semblances, of which Qrow's Bad Luck counts ~ Emitter Quirks)
Infinity Energy is equivalent to Spiral Power and refers to the hidden potential of the Combustion of Manly Souls, and the Manly Combination of a Trainer's willpower with their Pokemon can Kick Logic to the Curb and cause Mega Evolution (sometimes, sometimes you just get Synergy Burst but the power increase is basically the same); in this way, it is tied to and builds off of Yin Release and Special Aura
Dynamax is the result of external energy (Power Spots) causing a pokemon's body to grow and change to contain it; in this way, it is tied to and builds off of Yang Release and Physical Aura
Z-Power; the Z stands for 'Zenith' and allows a trainer to provide the 'spark' to 'catalyze' the shards Necrozma's Light inside the Z-Crystals provide, which results in limitless Type Aura for the duration of one Move
Magical Energy is divided by Type-MOON lore into Mana and Od, depending on whether it comes from the planet or from magi. I hit the point where my brain stops working because it's just too tired so I'll have to come back to this part later-

I just watched the RWBY x Justice League film.
Thoughts. Baby thoughts. No pictures this time since Apple doesn’t like it when I screenshot films I bought on iTunes.
Also, spoilers.
I like the relationship Clark and Ruby had. As someone who’s somewhat of a DC fan, I felt Clark was handled nicely, which is surprising because Clark doesn’t tend to be written well outside of the comics and the main DC animated series.
The bees and Wonder Woman stuff was fun as well. Seeing a jealous Blake was amazing, and Wonder Woman was just a delight. The whole thing with being a warrior and not having a real childhood like the others was a nice touch to have between the three. Blake with the White Fang, Yang having to grow up to protect Ruby, and Diana being an Amazonian. Good shit.
Seeing Cyborg, Vixen, Flash, and Lantern taking a class about Remnant was nice to see, especially since the fans of DC who don’t know much about RWBY’s world are learning with the characters they know.
Now we get to my queen and my main man Bruce. I loved their interactions about parties and what their wealth mean to them. I can especially appreciate how much of a dick Jacque was as an elite and not just as a parent.
The stuff with Jessica and Jaune was super fun and heartfelt. Jessica dealing with her anxiety and Jaune with his trauma. They are the perfect pairing for the this kind of story. I don’t know much about Cyborg so I don’t know if the Renora stuff really pertained to him but it’s fun seeing Ren be jealous like Blake.
The fight in the sky was so cool. I want more of that in RWBY, especially since we’ve only had one canon fight in the skies. Diana and Blake have such nice synergy when fighting in the skies thanks to Diana’s flight and their use of swinging.
I love the dynamic of Weiss and Bruce. Two rich and smart kids doing their best with what they were given in order to make a change for their families’s name. Also, Weiss being tech savvy is awesome. I want more of that in the main canon.
The discovery of Flash being possessed by Kilg%re was cool. I did notice Barry was acting strange and he was slow (at least, slower than usual). I felt like the final fight should’ve been wrapped up a bit faster, but it was fine overall.
Can’t wait for part two.

The thing is, individually the Ace-Ops may have the upper hand, but RWBY is the better overall team.
Each AceOp was kind of fighting on their own. It’s not by coincidence that partner team-ups was how they all went down.

Seems like nobody's ever making good Blake fan content that's not also Bees content (I love that they're together, but I just also want to see good Blake solo content, you know? She's her own character, not just "Yang's girlfriend"), and lord knows I'm not talented enough to do it myself. As a Blake fan, it really sucks that my options are either nothing or just... the most DOGSHIT takes about her. If I have to see one more person say that she was actually the abuser the whole time...
TBH it's really hard to make solo content regarding any of Team RWBY at least in the current in-show timeframe. They're a team and I really don't want them to separated...again.
But I also get your point. Blake is my 2nd fave and she has an amazing personality and it would be nice for her to shine.
But also, the same could be said about Yang. I rarely see anything that isn't about the Bees (or one of the other two ship combos which I am not going to mention here because of my utter disdain for them)
But (for the 3rd time) - I don't have a huge issue with them being together in most content. There's a really great synergy between them and they bring out the best in each other. Blake isn't *just* Yang's girlfriend anymore than Yang is *just* Blake's.
And yeah, I've seen those crappy takes. It makes me as angry as crap like "Yang is a bad sister" does.

Ugh, don't remind me about Blake vs. the Cenitaur. I swear to God, as soon as whoever is in charge of figuring out who does what in fight scenes lost their hard-on for fucking over Weiss, they moved right on to Blake. Can't wait to see Yang and Ruby lose every scrap of skill and talent next.
I think Volume 4 vs. Tyrian was fine, it did a good job of showing that the heroes are competent fighters that still aren't ready to face top-tier combatants, especially alone-ish (Team RNJR obviously lacks Team RWBY's synergy and NJR's team fighting style has been crippled by Pyrrha's loss, they play everything extremely defensively now because they've already lost one teammate). Volume 2 Weiss on the train was clumsy imo and also what started the "Weiss is a jobber" meme iirc, but I was more willing to buy it as an example of her inexperience/general lack of durability putting her as a disadvantage against an opponent with real experience when it was a one-off thing. The Apathy was fine, they're very hard to fight conventionally for anyone, especially in large groups, and they needed to introduce the Silver Eyes somehow (as clumsily as I think that power has been handled), so at least this is going toward building up an important aspect of the protagonist. I think I've made my opinion on Weiss jobbing in Volume 5 clear at this point. Her losing to Vernal was fine, but they could've at least put in enough effort to not make her look stupid in the process.
Vernal was reasonably quick & armed way better than any bandit bar her boss/parent figure/whateverthehell, though Weiss has demonstrated a much improved sense of summon timing since. Think there's anything to that old saltheap about her being plot-lobotomized to set up Jaune's semblance discovery?
Yes. Almost everything about the Battle of Haven was a shitshow except the Maidenbowl they spent 90% of the budget that Gray Haddock hadn't managed to siphon away for his stupid robot show on. Given that Yang, a highly intelligent and extremely technically proficient fighter, decided that giving up her prosthetic arm was somehow a better choice than breaking a grip weaker than Mitch McConnell's sense of empathy that she would've learned how to counter in Baby's First Self-Defense class and the writers fucking agreed with her and tried to present this as her being smart, I do not hesitate in the slightest to grant credibility to the idea that Weiss was deliberately dumbed down so as to set up Jaune's Semblance discovery. RWBY has a problem with deciding that it really wants to make the Next Cool Moment happen, so it's going to force that moment to happen no matter what and no matter how it has to get there, even if doing so makes that moment feel... somewhat less than organic, and frustrating rather than triumphant. That could very well be what happened here, and frankly, I think it is.
That said, Weiss is notably inexperienced in a real fight and it wouldn't surprise me to see someone who has mostly just sparred and hunted Grimm tunnel onto her new technique, but Weiss is also a character the show at least tries to tell us is intelligent (I'll be honest, she's never felt like "the smart one" of the group to me. I genuinely think Yang is the most intelligent of the main four, even if the show tries to hint that it's Weiss), so I feel like she should get enough credit for me to assume that she'd use the rest of her vast toolkit when one aspect of it clearly isn't working if whoever wrote and choreographed that fight wasn't busy dicking her over. God I hate the Battle of Haven so much it's so ass.
Anyway yeah, Weiss has gotten way better since Volume 5. Just ask Marrow. I think it's because she's getting more experience in the field and more guidance from experienced Huntsmen and Huntresses.

all volumes now start with grim fights where ruby saves oscar and vice versa. their power couple status is showing....
she shot at his face. she shot at his actual face and knew he would duck so it would hit the grimm.
