Squiggles Answers:

Gonna answer two questions in one here since my response is more or less the same:

If Jaune has lines with Salem then my assumption is that at some point during V8, Jaune will be present this rounds when the whole group encounter Salem yet again, similar to the moment during V7 when a ghastly apparition of the Wicked Witch made herself known to the group and Ironwood inside his office

I don’t think Jaune will be the one captured by Salem since up until this point in the series, Jaune Arc has neither been on Salem’s radar nor has he been a person of interest to her.

The only villain in Salem’s army to show interest in Jaune is Tyrian Callows and I’m still waiting to see how that will play out in upcoming season. My headcanon is that Jaune will fight Tyrian and may just be the person to defeat him once and for all or at least provide a worthy challenge for the Scorpion Faunus and play a hand in his defeat given Jaune’s semblance. Since Tyrian has the ability to tear through a person’s aura, I have a strong feeling that Jaune will be Tyrian’s best match since fans saw him training to replenish his aura levels at the start of V7CH6. I’m sure that new skill will certainly prove to make Jaune a worthy opponent against Tyrian Callows.

As for Salem herself, no. Salem is not interested in Jaune. She doesn’t even know who he is specifically.

As a matter of fact, the only characters Salem has targeted previously were Professor Ozpin (as an incarnate of Ozma) and Ruby Rose (as the Silver Eyed Warrior whose newly awakened powers damaged her apprentice Cinder Fall hence why Tyrian was sent to abduct her back in V4).

At first I figured Salem would only be interested in Oscar due to his connection to Oz as yet another incarnate of Ozma. However, it seems like Salem would have another reason to hunt down Oscar since he was the last person in possession of the Lamp of Knowledge. As highlighted in RWBY V8 Official Volume Trailer, Salem summoned her Greyhound Grimm to stoke out the person who could help her unlock the powers of the lamp.

And as us fans are aware of, not only was Oscar the last person seen in possession of the lamp prior to it being pilfered by Neopolitan, but he was also the person who first told our heroes---mainly Ruby---how to summon Jinn in the first place back in V6CH2.

Not only is Oscar harbouring the secrets to using the Relic of Knowledge but perhaps the remaining Relics as well considering that he does possess Ozma’s memories. This makes me assume that Salem will probably wish to keep Oscar alive until all the Relics are gathered.

While I understand that Ozpin being reborn was the catalyst that sparked her attack on Atlas Kingdom, I still feel confident that Salem will wish to keep Oscar around as a tool so she might not be quick to kill him off while he could be of use to her; in more ways than one. She might even use Oscar as bait to lure out Ruby. That’s how I see it.

That being said, Jaune won’t be the one captured by Salem since he isn’t her primary target. If Jaune is to be captured then I will only assume it’s a case where he is captured along with other characters---like let’s say Salem captures him together with Ren and Yang. 

Or…perhaps it…a matter in which Salem only takes Jaune to use him as leverage to force Oscar to comply to her demands. 

@miki-13 once told me that in the Wizard of Oz storyline, Dorothy Gale was taken prisoner by the Wicked Witch along with the Cowardly Lion after the Tin Man and Scarecrow were damaged by the Flying Monkeys. 

The Cowardly Lion was caged and starved by the Wicked Witch while poor Dorothy was forced to become the witch’s personal slave while she schemed to steal her silver slippers. 

According to the Wizard of Oz 1939 feature film, Dorothy was taken to the Wicked Witch’s Castle with Toto who was immediately separated from Dorothy and used a leverage by the Witch to force the young girl to be subservient to the Witch, all the while she begged for Toto to be free.

Perhaps…this type of storyline may be mirrored in the canon for V8. Maybe…Jaune will be Oscar’s version of Cowardly Lion or Toto, taken captive along with him to Salem and used as a bargaining chip by Salem to get Oscar to submit to her?

And while Salem keeps poor Jaune caged and starved (probably even made into a play thing by Tyrian Callows to be beaten and abused), Oscar is made into an unwilling slave of Salem, forced to remain complacent for the sake of keeping both himself and Jaune alive. So while Jaune is used to keep Oscar in line, Salem in turn schemes to use Oscar to lure Ruby Rose---the last Silver Eyed Warrior---to her demise.

When I think about it in that regard, this isn’t a bad idea. It actually works perfectly given the Wizard of Oz parallel. I definitely like the angle of Salem taking Jaune as a secondary prisoner; threatening his life should Oscar not provide her the answers she needs. So it’s a case where Jaune’s life is ironically placed in Oscar’s hands so to speak so the poor little prince has no choice but to behave himself and be a good little slave to the Wicked Witch for the sake of his friend and surrogate big brother.

That’s the ONLY way I can see it being plausible for Jaune to be captured by Salem too. Only as a bargaining chip against Oscar. Who knows?

What if…Jaune, Yang and Ren all become Salem’s prisoners to be used against Oscar who is made into Salem’s unwilling slave---thus leading to the rest of their teammates---Ruby, Weiss, Nora and Blake---to come save them all? Weiss saves Jaune, Blake saves Yang, Nora saves Ren and finally, Ruby confronts Salem for Oscar.

YES! That can work :D I like it!

Outside of that, like I said, Jaune isn’t a current main target for Salem is. Oscar is and so is Ruby.

But in the event of this headcanon not coming to fruition and it’s just Oscar who is taken, this squiggle meister is banking on the alternative of Jaune joining Ruby as part of the rescue party to save Oscar; to parallel Dorothy Gale leading a rescue party to save the captured Princess Ozma is the Lost Princess of Oz.

Boku no Beacon (Pt 4!)

Part four is here even though nobody asked for it! I put off posting this part because the previous parts aren’t getting traction, but then I thought to myself: “I’m making this for me! Who cares if nobody likes this!”

So here we go!

As I said in parts 1-3, this is My Hero Academia in the RWBY world of Remnant and this part talks about the villains!

I established in Part 2 that the LoV is known as Salem’s Last Army (SLA) which is lead by the child of Salem, All For One and his protege, Tomura Shigaraki, who is the grandson of one of Opzin’s students in magic. His grandmother, Nana Shimura, was a talented Wizard who pasted the magical teachings of Ozpin onto Toshinori Yagi who has now passed his magic onto Izuku Midoriya. The fight between Midoriya and Shigaraki is pure destiny, but won’t happen for a while.

Meanwhile, Salem’s Last Army has recently acquired new funding and sponsorship from a ragtag-revolution in Mantle who call themselves the Meta-Liberation Army. Their goal was to regain Mantle’s former glory as the capital city of the northern continent through training of civilians and former Atlas Huntsmen in how to use their semblances for battle. However, they turned leadership over to Shigaraki and the SLA after a tough clash in Mistral.

The SLA has attempted to invade Beacon Academy several times and kill Yagi and steal Opzin’s magic, but weren’t successful and All For One was captured along with other criminals who served under him. However, these events have led to the awakening of another child of Salem, Gigantomachia.

Gigantomachia has sworn allegiance to the SLA’s new leader, Shigaraki, and lies in waiting for when they finally storm Beacon.

With the new alliance with the Meta-Liberation Army came new allies. For example, Dabi, a criminal with a strong fire semblance, formed a friendship with the Meta Army’s general, Geten. Dabi also managed to form a small alliance with the second strongest Huntsman in Remnant, Hawks, a bird Faunus who didn’t train at any of the Huntsmen Academies, and the two exchange information regularly.

The SLA’s strongest members rely almost completely on their semblances and thus have a stronger Aura than most Huntsmen. For example, Twice (Jin Bubaigawara) could clone people including himself at insanely fast rates if he knew their measurements. His close friend Himiko Toga could shape-shift into whoever’s blood she drank. Together, Twice, Toga, Dabi and Hawks all form the unofficial Team DHTT (Dot).

However, like I said, the teams within the SLA are all unofficial and often change up depending on the situation.

Shigaraki’s caretaker, Kurogiri, used to be a Huntsman in Vale under the name Oboro Shirakumo. Shirakumo was the leader of Beacon’s legendary Team SKAY (Sky) until his death during his second year. Doctor Kyudai Garaki, one of Doctor Arthur Watts’ apprentices, managed to fuse Shirakumo’s body with that of the Grimm Pool and Kurogiri was born. Garaki repeated this procedure with other subjects and created Nomu by combining Salem’s magic, human bodies and Grimm together into an amalgamation.

Of course, the SLA and the Meta Army aren’t the only bad guys around even if the White Fang has returned to its peaceful status. An example of this can be seen in Danjuro Tobita and Manami Aiba, also known as the Gentle Criminal and La Brava. Tobita was a Huntsman in training until an accidental injury cost his family almost all of their Lien and they disowned him. He met Aiba after posting several videos of himself stealing from Dust Stores and other establishments for Remnant fame. The two traveled Vale, committing minor crimes and documenting them in an attempt to become like the great Roman Torchwick and his notorious sidekick, Neo Politan. Of course, they were arrested by Beacon Student Izuku Midoriya, an inheritor of Ozpin’s Magic, but not without a fight.

But how could I talk about villains without mentioning Stain? Chizome Akaguro, also known as the Hero Killer Stain, used a mixture of his semblance and blade techniques to render immobile and even kill Huntsmen he deemed unworthy of service. Before his capture by Beacon students Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki and Izuku Midoriya, Akaguro only deemed two people worthy of saving Remnant from the darkness: Toshinori Yagi and Izuku Midoriya, ironically the two most recent users of Ozpin’s Magic. He was approached by Shigaraki before this and asked to join the SLA, but turned them down, deeming them even more so unworthy than great Huntsmen like Enji Todoroki and Tensei Iida.

However, until recently the SLA was not the most dangerous group in Remnant. A gang in Mistral rose up and found away to weaponize the idea of stealing semblances. Their leader, Kai Chisaki, managed to produce a bullet that could strip a victim of their semblance. It took trained and untrained Huntsmen alike all they could to defeat him and rescue the source of his bullets - a small girl named Eri who now lives in Beacon under the protection of Shota Aizawa.

So Midoriya has defeated several of Remnant’s most dangerous villains using the magic he received and the numerous semblances that came with it and now finds himself at the center of attention again. Can he deal with protagonist plot armor coming his way or will he have a mental breakdown from all of the shit going on around him. Stay tuned for Part 5!

Have Some Crack-ish Thoughts

So, quick thought I had at 1 AM last night -

People have been speculating on what the relationship between Ozpin and Salem was, and I’ve seen siblings, lovers, friends, and mentor/apprentice. The idea that occured to me as I was trying to sleep, though, was “What if Salem is the original Oz’s daughter?”

Now, I literally only have two reasons to think this, and one of them isn’t really a reason at all, so I am most likely completely wrong. 

The first (non)reason is the way Jinn talks in the preview for Chapter 3 - she calls the father “cruel”. Now, Jinn is supposed to be the Relic of Knowledge - as such, you would expect her to be as objective as possible. Either the father is so cruel that it can be objectively stated that he is cruel, or Jinn is adding her own spin on the events. Jinn is based on djinn (or genies), which have a nasty reputation of being extremely mischievous, to the point of twisting their answers and actions solely to cause trouble (Basically, I’m not taking her answers without more than a grain of salt). From the short exchange she had with Ozpin, she clearly knows who he is, and I would bet she’s not above stirring the pot for him. This is just speculation, though, and is quite probably not true. Just my 1 AM thoughts for you.

The other, more realistic reason, is that I have in fact seen Wicked, and know that it’s revealed that Elphaba is the illegitimate daughter of the Wizard of Oz.

Now, does this mean anything? No, probably not, but it’s an interesting idea to toy with, and it would fit with the family themes that RWBY has had going on. The reactions of the group would be fascinating to watch, as well. I could especially see such a thing affecting Weiss greatly, since she just got through breaking out of her own house and the control of her father.

A RWBY Fan-Story

Approx Length: 2,000 words

I still remember the day when it all began. It was late winter, and snow covered the entire forest, including the small shack I’d sequestered myself in about a half-decade earlier. It was cold and quiet, just the way I liked it in those days.

I awoke with the usual, recurring niggling at the back of my mind--it was time to find a new student. It had been time for ten years, actually, but after the first five years came and went with little to no success, I had mostly given up. Which was what led me to the shack, and the five years of isolation.

Shoving the nigglings to the back of my mind, as I usually did, I pushed my old frame up out of my bed and trudged over to the fireplace to brew a warm draught for the morning. As I was waiting for the pot to boil, however, I heard something at my door.

Rap-tap-tap

I paused, and glanced up from my seat at the fireplace with a frown on my brow. After a quick moment, however, I merely shook my head and sighed. Must’ve been my imagination.

It came again, and I found myself standing. My brow was knit closely, now, and I gazed wearily at the door. Now, who in their right minds would be out in the forest at this time of the year?

Getting annoyed by the sounds and the incessantness of the whole ordeal, I marched myself up to the door. Whoever it was that was disturbing my peace, they would soon learn to regret it. With a scowl on my face, I tore the door open and growled out a few short words.

“Whoever you are, begone...?”

But the growl slowly left my voice, and a look of perplexity spread across my face. Standing before me, crowded together on the small rickety porch out front of the shack, were four young women, each burdened down with rucksacks and the signs of several long nights of stress.

“Please sir,” the first, a young woman with bright white hair and crystalline blue eyes, respectfully spoke, “my sisters and I have been travelling this land for several days now, trying to find a place to rest. Yours is the first home we’ve come across in almost a fortnight. Please, sir, if it isn’t too much, would you--”

“Would you please let us in, sir?”

I frowned, and cast my gaze on the second girl, standing just beside the first. Unlike her sister, this second girl had chestnut hair and eyes the color of emeralds.

“And why should I offer the four of you my home? I’m not too keen on drifters and vagabonds,” I asked, gaze narrowing on the four young women. The brunette quickly piped up, once again.

“Oh, you don’t have to worry about that, sir!” The girl beamed up at me, causing my frown to grow. “We’re willing to work for you, to pay for our stay.”

I raised an eyebrow, surprised by the offer, then quickly glanced at the other three around the brunette. Neither the redhead to her left nor the blonde at the end seemed surprised by suggestion, nor had the snow-haired woman, so clearly they had spoken of this beforehand.

“Work?” I finally asked.

“Yessir!” the redhead replied, resting her hands on her hips and casting a gaze about the land around the shack. “Seems your home might be in need of some repairs and renovations--and we’d be more than ready to lend a hand!”

“My sisters and I might not look like much, sir,” the blonde at the end added, “but trust me when I say we can do whatever you need of us.”

I frowned, casting my gaze upon the four girls once more. They each, in turn, gazed back at me--not in a way that was unnerving or bothersome, like others had stared at me in the past, but in a way that was actually...humbling, in a way. Finally, after a moment of silence, I shook my head and sighed.

“Against my better judgement, you may stay here.”

The sisters--who I later learned to be named Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn, respectively--ended up staying with me until the late fall of that year. And, true to their word, they did much work to pay off their stay at my humble abode.

By the time their service to me had ended, the simple shack that I had sequestered myself in for five years had been rebuilt into a cozy and handsome two-story cabin. The land out front of the cabin had been cultivated into a farm, and a wall of stone had been set up along the edge of the clearing.

The land, which for so long had been barren and overgrown with weeds and shrubs, was now growing crops and fruits. It was alive and well, better than I had ever seen it before. It was actually rather remarkable.

Even more remarkable, however, was the relationship I had formed with these four girls.

It was no secret, even to myself, that I could be standoffish, aloof, and troublesome. Even in my youth, I had dealt with those problems, and as I’d grown older they’d only grown worse, especially with the more I saw humanity fall and fade away from the old ways.

I had grown bitter, but in the time I’d spent with Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn, I’d slowly opened myself back up, and allowed myself to feel more emotions than just bitterness and spite.

And then, just as suddenly as it had all started, it all came to an end. The autumn for that year was nearing an end, and soon the four would be on their way again. Though I was saddened, I wasn’t bothered by it. Besides, my time on the world would soon be over, anyways.

Before they left, however, we had one last dinner together. Sometime, over the summer, I can’t exactly recall when, we’d started having dinners together, almost like a family. It only felt right, then, to do the same one last time.

As we gathered together, and Winter began to pass the food around, I felt the niggling once again at the back of my mind.

Now, though, I smiled.

“My dears,” I said, glancing each of the four in the eyes before speaking again, “before you go, there are somethings I must tell you--things about myself that I have not told you before, and which I wish to tell you now.”

“Long ago, when I was simply a young boy with little more than the name Montolio to my name, a man much like myself now came to me. I know not what he saw in me, but he offered to take me in, off the streets, if I be his assistant and aid him in his work.”

“The man was a wizard, it turned out--a powerful sorcerer, greater than any other in the land. Unlike those who wandered our world seeking tomes and relics for power, this man received his power straight from the Old Gods themselves.”

“After years of aiding him, the wizard fell ill. One night, he called me to his bed. He told me that, since the day when the Old Gods left this world, there had been men gifted with the powers of the Gods to act as their hands on the mortal plane, and keep this world safe.”

“He told me that his time was near over, and as such, he would pass the powers of the Gods on to me, as in the years I had served with him, I had learned much, and had truly been his apprentice.”

“And now,” I said in a slow, raspy voice, “it is my turn to pass the torch, so to speak.”

I cast my gaze upon the girls once more, each staring at me with varying degrees of shock and confusion written upon their faces. I smiled a tired smile at them, and continued.

“I spent many years searching for an apprentice to take over this work after I have gone and left this world behind. But no matter where I looked, those I found were too selfish, too arrogant, too slothful, too greedy.”

“That is,” I added, “until I met the four of you.”

I stood from my seat and held my hands out towards the four young women seated around the table. “As my time grows short upon the land, my dears, I offer you my powers--the powers of the Gods. A final gift, as a thank you for the love and kindness you’ve shown this old soul these several months.”

The girls stared at me, stunned, for a few moments. Eventually, one of the four spoke--Spring, the brunette who had offered the plan to work the land for me all those months ago.

“Monty,” she said, “this...this is too much.”

“No,” I smiled, “it’s just enough. Please,” I quickly added, staring at the four, my gaze old and tired, “I’ve been at this for far too long. I’ve seen enough of the darkness in this world--it’s time I left. But I can’t leave without knowing it will be safe for the generations to follow.”

“Please,” I let my hands drift to the table, “this is all I ask of you.”

After a moment of silence, Winter stepped forward, nodding slowly. I smiled at her, a smile that grew wider as the other three tentatively made their way towards me. A silent ‘thank you’ slipped off my lips as I held out my hands, letting the power of the Gods fill me one last time.

Passing the power to more than one person had never been done before--but in that moment, I did it. To Winter went the Power of Creation, to Spring the Power of Knowledge, to Summer the Power of Destruction, and to Autumn the Power of Choice.

And as the power left my body, and I felt my spirit finally leave this mortal world behind, a smile slipped across my lips. Certain, I was, that I had made the right decision.

Oh how wrong I was.

It was a few years later when I experienced my first rebirth. I was disoriented, confused, and wondered why I hadn’t passed on to the higher plane, finally met the Gods, or at least been reunited with all my friends from my old life.

Eventually, though, I gained cognizance of the situation I was in. I was in another man’s body, his mind still in control though I was hidden in the far back of his subconscious. Still, I was able to see his thoughts, and learn what had happened in the world.

And what happened shocked me.

A scourge had fallen upon the world--vile creatures and aberrations of pure darkness now terrorized the land, the likes of which I’d never seen before. Mankind lived in fear, and hid from the darkness after seeing the few brave souls fight against it, only to be swept away and torn asunder.

Only a few fought against the scourge now, including my new vessel...and three of the sisters I’d gifted my powers to. It was from these thoughts, and memories, that I’d also learned what had happened to the fourth and final sister.

She had died using her powers.

Using her powers to create a force to protect the world.

A force that was very quickly corrupted and turned into a terrifying force of evil.

And in that moment, I realized to my horror what I had done. Rather than gifting the world with four saviors to carry on the work I had lived so diligently for almost a century before, I had given them the very scourge that would shatter the world in two, leaving only broken remnants behind.

Her ability is “Twilight’s Lament” and is similar to Mori’s in the sense that it manifests itself in a physical form that will protect Kira and do as she asks (the ability is Midna, as this is her BSD verse too.) Kira’s been searching for her daughter for roughly 20 years (now 40) by the time the anime has begun.  There is also a verse available for her where Kira is just a normal young woman in the Order. No Lia, no mom-ing everyone, just a quiet girl with a book, an imp, and two swords.

She washed up on shore and was found and sold by hunters to the government, where they performed experiments on her. She finally broke free at 12 years old, and has hated humans ever since.

Kira is the wizard’s apprentice in this verse, as she has some magic in her blood that she’s learning to wield under his guidance. She doesn’t really talk to any of the townsfolk and some might not even know who she is, but she’s there. She lives in the wizard’s tower.

~thíѕ íѕ thє grєαtєѕt ѕhσw~ |Performer Verse|—A normal, human verse where some of my muses are in a sort of circus named “The Runaways”. Kira is the ringleader of the troop as well an aerial silks artist.

~í tσld чσu thαt í wσuld nєvєr вє fσrgσttєn αnd αll ín ѕpítє σf чσu~ |Hogwarts Verse|—Here, Kira is a witch from the world of Harry Potter. Her mother was in the Black family but disapproved of their ideals, and was thus killed when word got out the she had a child with a muggle. Kira was “raised” by abusive muggles until she accidentally killed her “adoptive father” and ran away. She was found by Sirius Black who was close to her mother, and thus took the girl into his care and let her go to Hogwarts to learn about who she truly is. More info can be found here.

"Of course, this was back when bounties were paid in gold coins. My wife and I actually ran quite the con with our bounties for a while..." Ozpin nodded, tossing Oscar a coin with a rose carved embossed upon its surface.

"You're married?" Oscar asked, shocked.

"Not really," Ozpin replied, "Glynda and I faked the marriage for the same reason you're learning all of the stories of what I've done and what Ozymandias did before me and Osgood did before him, and so on, all the way back to Ozma, the first Wizard Oz. We need to maintain the continuity. Glynda took up the name of Salem, Ozma's wife, because it was up for grabs. I think she's currently got four apprentices, each being trained to be the next Salem, but currently going by The Maidens. But back to my first bounty..."

Knight!RWBY: Oscar and Ozpin, Robyn and Annoyance Title: It All Makes Sense Now…

"Come along now," the man dressed as an even older wizard told the young boy by Robyn's side, who was very blatantly trying to hide, "You've already gotten us off schedule already, and this is very troubling, seeing as how you still have lessons after..."

Robyn understood now. They were master and apprentice displaced in time and the boy had been trying to make good his escape, no doubt an unwilling apprentice.

And that was how it came to pass that Robyn Hill punched out a wizard and ran off with a smaller wizard tucked under her arm as she headed back to base as quickly as she could.

Knight!RWBY: Oscar and Ozpin Title: So That's My Day…

Having finally managed to escape, Oscar was doing his job as a dutiful apprentice and explaining his absence to the Wandering Wizard Ozpin, the master to his apprentice.

The fact that Ozpin seemed to have more questions did not bode well...
