reading r:z jp fanfics with mtl because im desperate lmao pt.1
and i just want to note what i read lolol
Uma to Shika - 氷
- reinsuba
- reincarnation paro: post ayamatsu, modern AU (set in RW)
- rein remembers the events but subaru doesn't
- perfect-n-popular 3rd year student rein & 1st year orphaned near-shut-in subaru
- the story's plot starts with rein saves subaru from the people who nearly killed him
- rein is very wary of this subaru but chooses to be close with him because he wants to keep tabs on subaru
- rein notices that this subaru is a kind person, unlike the one he met from his past life
- subaru seems innocent but he actually did a crime to save his adopted siblings (elsa and meili) from authorities; he also feels there's darkness within him
- rein and subaru became very close friends
-- they're always together (subaru tends to stay on reinhard's home)
- however this changes when one day before rein's birthday, subaru met felt for the first time while he's making a birthday cake for both meili and rein
- he told this encounter to rein
- unfortunately, since felt is one of the important people in rein's past life and was killed because of past subaru's actions; he became furious and hurt subaru
- confused and hurt (and felt rejected), subaru decided to spend his time in a park. there, he saw emilia for the first time in this timeline
- past memories flooded within him and the past subaru resurfaced; he still retains the memories and feelings of present subaru, especially that unrequited love ;;
- he still wanted to end rein's life
- rein noticed that it's likely subaru came back again and he wished they could fix their relationship but he already sensed there's something wrong
- subaru greeted him and then--
- stabbed rein with a knife on the abdomen
- subaru expressed how much he wished that he was saved by rein just like the one in this world
- rein apologized (?) to him but he still won't forgive him and he stands for the people who were hurt and died by subaru's actions
- rein asks subaru if he feels satisfaction and happiness when he finally kills rein
- rein wondered why despite the fact that he promised himself that he will end this world's subaru's life, he can't bring himself to do so
- he saw other sides of subaru and realized that he enjoyed his time with subaru o<< despite a part of him hates it
- realizing that subaru taught him to enjoy his life more; however he realized that he's getting more stupid because of subaru
- finally, rein confessed his biggest sin - falling in love with subaru
- those words shook subaru's core and asks rein if that confession is for the subaru of that world.
- in the end, subaru saw the cake he made for reinhard's birthday and was overwhelmed with emotions, he......

(OC) Frenchifying the Canadiens (An Alternate Reality)
(This is the squeakquel threequel to Moneyballing the Senators and Covertly Tanking the Wild)It's August 2019. Marc Bergevin and Trevor Timmins are sitting in the Montreal Canadiens' war room when the phone rings. It's Geoff Molson, the team president and co-owner.Hey guys, it's Geoff. I'm gonna cut a long story short - the province's Minister for Sports has apparently stumbled on some... compromising information about this organization. For legal reasons I'm not gonna get into it, but it implicates all of us in the front office. The good news is that he says he's not going to put it out there for the sake of the franchise and the city. The bad news is that he has one demand, and I don't think we'll be able to get out of it. He's a bit of a nationalist, you know? Very vive la Québec francophone and all that. He says the worst thing that ever happened to les Habs was when they started letting Ontarians and Americans on the team, and that he stopped watching when they made Saku Koivu captain. He told me he'll shred all the dirt he has on us if we make the Canadiens a 100% Québecois team by October. I know that puts you in a tough situation guys, but good luck guys!Bergevin and Timmins look at eachother in shock."Well at least this will save us a shit-ton on amateur scouting""This isn't funny Trevor, what the hell are we going to do? I guess I'll start sending out feelers and hopefully we'll be ready by opening night. If we rush this we'll lose every trade and look like imbéciles""No, Marc, we have to get all of this done now. Tonight. You think we'll lose these trades if we hurry? If McKenzie somehow gets wind of this and tweets it out we're gonna be icing a fucking QMJHL team this year. We need to do this all at once before anyone figures out what's going on.""Merde you're fucking right.""Think about it though Marc. If you brought a Cup to Montreal with a bunch of Anglos and Americans on the ice you'd be a hero, sure. But if you get les Canadiens une Coupe with all French guys they'll add your biceps to the fucking fleur de lis. Let's just do it and be légendes, frère.""Alright. Get me a list of every son of a bitch in this league with an accent aigu in their name, a six pack of Taureau Rouge, and 29 more phones."Six Hours LaterBobby Margarita @TSNBobMcKenzieIt's probably nothing, but I'm hearing that the NHL trade line has about 12 trades pending.Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNICHabs have signed Pominville (1.5M), Chartier (0.75M) and Bourque (0.7M) to 1 year contracts.Bobby Margarita @TSNBobMcKenzieA lot of talk around the Habs right now. Things are about to get really silly.Tampa Bay Lightning @TBLightningThe #Lightning have acquired LW Tomas Tatar, D Mike Rielly, G Charlie Lindgren, and a 2020 3rd round pick from the #Canadiens in exchange for RW Yanni Gourde, LW Cedric Paquette, and G Louis Domingue.Columbus Blue Jackets @BlueJacketsNHLBLOCKBUSTER ALERT: #CBJ have acquired G Carey Price, C Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and D Jeff Petry in exchange for C Pierre-Luc Dubois, D David Savard, C Maxime Fortier, and a conditional 1st round draft pick.Pittsburgh Penguins @penguinsTRADE ALERT: The Penguins have acquired defenceman Shea Weber and forward Max Domi from the Coyotes in exchange for Kris Letang, Jack Johnson, and Samuel Poulin.Ottawa Senators @SenatorsNews Release: #Sens acquire defenceman Cale Fleury, forward Joel Armia from Montreal for Christian Wolanin and Anthony DuclairCommuniqué : Les #Sens acquièrent Cale Fleury et Joel Armia de Montréal pour Christian Wolanin et Anthony Duclair.Colorado Avalanche @avalancheA big trade. #GoAvsGoColorado trades Sam Girard and Mark Barberio to Montreal for Victor Mete, Artturi Lehkonen, and 2018 2nd round pick Alexander RomanovVegas Golden Knights @GoldenKnightsTrading places! ⚔️Vegas acquires RW Brendan Gallagher from the Montreal Canadiens for LW Jonathan Marchessault and a conditional 2020 3rd.New York Islanders @NYIslanders#Isles trade RFA rights to Anthony Beauvillier to MTL for C Ryan Poehling and C Nate Thompson.Jim Matheson @NHLbyMattyStill blws my mind that Keith Gretzky hasn't been offered a GM job yet. Lots of respct around the league for his scouting in EDM. Wouldn't be surprised if Minneosta takes a long look at himChicago Blackhawks @NHLBlackhawksTRADE ALERT: Left Wing Paul Byron, Cayden Primeau, and Keith Kinkaid have been acquired from Montreal in exchange for Corey Crawford and Nicolas Beaudin.Detroit Red Wings @DetroitRedWings#RedWings have acquired RW Cole Caufield and LD Brett Kulak from the Montreal Canadiens for C Joe Veleno and a 2020 4th round pickWinnipeg Jets @NHLJets#NHLJets have acquired forward Jordan Weal and a second-round draft pick in the 2020 #NHLDraft from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Matthieu Perreault.Arizona Coyotes @ArizonaCoyotesTRADE ALERT: #Coyotes have acquired Noah Juulsen from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Jason Demers.Vancouver Canucks @CanucksNHLTRADE ALERT: #Canucks have acquired a 2021 5th round pick from MTL for D Alex BiegaAnaheim Ducks @AnaheimDucksTRADE: The #Ducks have acquired centre Nick Suzuki, defenceman Ben Chiarot, centre Nick Cousins and a 2020 2nd round pick from the @CanadiensMTL for C Benoit-Olivier Groulx and LW Maxime ComtoisBergevin and Timmins slump down in their chairs, surrounded by crumpled up pieces of paper and half-drunk half-Red Bull protein shakes, and look at the new roster they've assembled, scrawled on the white board in front of them.Jonathan Marchessault - Pierre-Luc Dubois - Jonathan Drouin Anthony Beauvillier - Philip Danault - Yanni Gourde Anthony Duclair - Mathieu Perreault - Jason Pominville Joe Veleno - Cedric Paquette - Maxime Comtois Gabriel Bourque Samuel Girard - Kris Letang Christian Wolanin - David Savard Alex Biega - Jason Demers Mark Barberio Corey Crawford Louis Domingue The Next MorningThe hockey world is in complete chaos. The Canadiens' front office pulled off all of these trades simultaneously, and not a single other GM realized what was going on. Sure they guessed that the Habs were targeting their French players (what else is new?) but they were as shocked as anyone when they started getting frantic texts as soon as they had submitted the deals to the league.Hockey media is a mess. TSN has interrupted their coverage of Canadian U20 Cricket regionals and dispatched the Bellicopter to retrieve Bobby Margarita from the Muskoka wilderness; analytics bloggers are frantically assembling heat maps and charts to make some sense of the madness; podcasters are recording 6-hour episodes.Bergevin and Timmins are asleep, and will be until the afternoon. They'll wake up to a copy of Le Devoir and the Montreal Gazette on the front porch of the Bell Centre with competing editorials:Montreal Gazette - August 11 2019"What the Hell did Bergevin Just Do?"MONTREAL, QC - NHL teams aren't put together in a day - it takes years of scouting, developing, trading, and signing to put together a team that can compete for the Stanley Cup. To succeed, managers have to be able to set aside their biases - for certain types of players, for action, and for nationality - and make rational, measured decisions.Apparently nobody told Marc Bergevin that.On Saturday night, Bergevin blew up a team that finished as close to a playoff spot as is humanly possible. Usually in hockey "blowing up a team" means trading a few core pieces; in this case it meant a rabid simultaneous onslaught of 13 trades replacing 90% of the roster and a large chunk of the prospect cupboard. And why? So that the insecurity of nationalist Francophones can be resurrected on the Bell Centre (excuse me, Centre Bell) ice, and the worst nostalgic tendencies of our society can play out below the retired number banners of Doug Harvey, Larry Robinson, and Bernie Geoffrion.Maybe this team will be a Cup contender, maybe they won't be. But the message that Marc Bergevin has sent to the thousands of children who watch the Montreal Canadiens (many of whose Weber or Price jerseys are now suddenly out of date) is one of exclusion and tribalism. And he, and Geoff Molson, and every element of our province responsible for this idiocy should be ashamed. Vive Bergevin! How did it turn out in the end? Let's just say that the Fleurgevin was hanging in every classroom in the province by the summer.Hope you enjoyed, if you have any ideas for a future thing like this let me know! EA Sports reveals the top 30 MLS players in the upcoming FIFA 19
September 15, 201812:29PM EDT
EA Sports FIFA has the immense task of rating and ranking every single player in the world, inciting debate and outrage aplenty. With FIFA 19 nearing its full release, Sept. 28, they have made official their top 30 MLS rated players. Here they are:
No. 30 – No. 26
Kaku | EA Sports FIFA
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 30. Leandro Gonzalez Pirez ATL CB 75 29. Ike Opara SKC CB 75 28. Kaku RBNY CAM 75 27. Alberth Elis HOU RW 75 26. Andre Blake PHI GK 75
A pair of defenders kicks us off, as Opara and Gonzalez Pires are given equal ratings of 75. Their athleticism will make render their cards more useful than the average 75. Dynamo star Elis gets a 75 and ever-important four-star skills while current MLS assists leader Kaku comes in with a 75 as well. Blake is the first – and only – keeper in FIFA’s top 30 MLS players.
No. 25 – No. 21
Darwin Quintero | EA Sports FIFA
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 25. Darwin Quintero MIN CF 75 24. Raul Ruidiaz SEA ST 76 23. Maxi Moralez NYC CAM 76 22. Guram Kashia SJ CB 76 21. Osvaldo Alonso SEA CDM 76
Quintero, with 10 goals and 9 assists in 20 matches, rounds out the 75s with Ruidiaz being the first entrant as a 76 alongside NYCFC’s Moralez. All of Ruidiaz, Quintero and Moralez have four-star skills. Alonso is the first defensive midfielder in the top 30 and Kashia takes the crown of highest rated defender in MLS according to FIFA.
No. 20 – No. 16
Jozy Altidore | EA Sports FIFA
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 20. Haris Medunjanin PHI CM 76 19. Jonathan dos Santos LAG CM 77 18. Jozy Altidore TOR ST 77 17. Nicolas Lodeiro SEA RM 77 16. Giovani dos Santos LAG CF 77
Medunjanin is the highest rated Union player while Altidore gets a slight upgrade with a 77, up from the 76 he started with last year. Both dos Santos brothers are given the same 77 rating, both down from last year. Jona was an 80 and Gio a 79. Lodeiro joins them, crashes the top 20 and is given four-star skills, as does Gio dos Santos.
No. 15 – No. 11
Romain Alessandrini | EA Sports FIFA
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 15. Victor Vazquez TOR CM 77 14. Michael Bradley TOR CDM 77 13. Federico Higuain CLB CAM 77 12. Bradley Wright-Phillips RBNY ST 77 11. Romain Alessandrini LAG RM 77
When Alessandrini got an in-form card in FIFA 18, he immediately became a favorite in the Ultimate Team community. This year, he starts at a 78, keeps his four-star skills and 89 pace but just misses out on top 10 in the league. Behind him, TFC duo Vazquez and Bradley are level at 77, Higuain gets a slight bump from last year and so does Wright-Phillips, who jumps from a 75.
No. 10 – No. 6
Wayne Rooney | EA Sports FIFA
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 10. Miguel Almiron ATL CAM 80 9. Wayne Rooney DC ST 80 8. Diego Valeri POR CAM 80 7. Ignacio Piatti MTL LW 80 6. Bastian Schweinsteiger CHI CM 80
Into the top 10, each player is rated an 80 or above. Almiron gets us started. Like Alessandrini, Almiron may well be one of the more valuable cards with his 89 pace and 80 dribbling. A new entrant to the league, Rooney is no stranger to top-rated FIFA lists and comes in at No. 9 thanks to his balanced 81 shooting and 81 passing. Reigning MVP Valeri hits the top 10 again and is given a boost on last year’s card. Piatti stays at an 80 like last year and Schweinsteiger drops from an 81, though is still the highest rated non-attack-first player in the game.
The Top Five
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 5. Josef Martinez ATL ST 81
Josef Martinez | EA Sports FIFA
MLS’ record breaker, Martinez comes in at fifth in the league to kick off FIFA 19. With 29 goals and counting, Martinez gets a deserved boost from the 76 he started with last season. His card will be a must for any MLS team with his pace, skill moves and weak foot. An added bonus: high work rate.
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 4. Carlos Vela LAFC RW 81
Carlos Vela | EA Sports FIFA
Vela’s card may not be shiny and rare as the others, but it’s still as effective. Four-star skills, workable pace for a winger as well as well-rounded technical ability. Also: expect the finesse shot train.
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 3. Sebastian Giovinco TOR CF 82
Sebastian Giovinco | EA Sports FIFA
Giovinco has been one of the premier players in MLS since joining the league and that has always been reflected in FIFA. Again, Giovinco’s card will be quality with his skill, weak foot, pace, dribbling and shooting.
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 2. David Villa NYC ST 82
David Villa | EA Sports FIFA
Villa, an ageless wonder, retains his 82 overall rating again. His card is nearly identical to last year, as his pace, dribbling, shooting and passing are all the same as last season.
Rank Name Team Pos. Rating 1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic LAG ST 85
Zlatan Ibrahimovic | EA Sports FIFA
Zlatan is king.
The highest rated MLS player, Ibrahimovic’s card is lower than it’s been in years but it’s still a must-have for MLS fans. He doesn’t have much pace, but standing at 6’5″ with a 78 physicality and 86 shot, he doesn’t need to do much sprinting.

The Wild West Summer Series: Dallas Stars
Hopefully, the first annual Bubble Keeper Week helped you make some keeper decisions, or put some players on your radar for the draft. Now that we have wrapped up that event we are back for round six of our summer series, this time featuring Dallas. In addition to the Western Conference make sure you catch up on Cam’s team breakdowns in the Eastern Edge Series.
The idea for these columns to compare the end of the 2017-18 Fantasy Hockey Geek rankings for individual players with an expected ranking based on their average draft positions from the start of the year. This process does not necessarily identify who was the most important player to each team but gives us not only an idea of who was a steal/bust on draft day but where each player was valued going into this season. I will also be adding some thoughts on whether or not that is the new normal for the player in question and if we should be adjusting our draft positions.
**
* * * Pick up the 13th annual DobberHockey Fantasy Hockey Guide here (out on August 1) * * *
**
And now for the technical details. We will be using the Fantasy Hockey Geek tool to get a ranking that combines all of a player’s stats for the searched categories. Like for the previous series, the ranks are based on a 12 team, head-to-head league, using the categories of goals, assists, power play points, shots, hits and blocks for forwards/defensemen and wins, saves, save percentage and goals against average for goalies. Player eligibility for this series is based on Yahoo, and draft ranks are based on average draft positions compiled from Yahoo, ESPN and CBS by FantasyPros.
Dallas
Recap:
Dallas fell short of the playoffs in 2017-18 managing a total of 92 points, missing out on the last Wild Card spot by four points. Alexander Radulov joined the team and was definitely a success, but even with the addition of Ken Hitchcock and Ben Bishop, the goaltending wasn’t as good as it could have been.
Undervalued:
John Klingberg
2017-18 was a very successful season for Klingberg. He was the 10th ranked defensemen based on the above categories, and the 45th ranked player overall. If we look at those who were valued near him we see some pretty big names, as well as a couple who had career years.

So what happened to increase Klingberg’s value? The answer is fairly straightforward. He scored more points.

2017-18 saw Klingberg’s highest assist, point, point per game numbers, and shots of his career, and by a pretty reasonable margin. Klingberg also saw his highest amount of power play time, the highest percentage of his team’s power play time, and his highest total time on ice. He was on the ice for about 75% of his team’s power play time, much higher than his next highest year, which was 62%. That could imply he is being used slightly differently by coach Ken Hitchcock than he has in the past. There were a couple of areas that saw a decrease for Klingberg in 2017-18. His goal totals, his shooting percentage, and team’s even strength shooting percentage were all down.
But what does all of this mean? Klingberg clearly performed better in 2017-18 than people thought he would, but can he keep it up? My short answer is yes. Higher shot, and assist numbers are accompanied by more opportunities both at even strength and on the power play. His power play numbers did not rise, but given that his overall power play time did, and his percentage of the team’s total time did, it seems like Hitchcock is going to keep giving him opportunities. The only down numbers really aren’t negatives at all. His goal numbers are down due to a low (for Klingberg) shooting percentage. He actually increased his total shots so if he had a more reasonably shooting percentage (say his career average of 6%) he would have added four goals to his totals and would have broken 70 points. The only actual red flag is that his IPP was quite a bit higher (at 54%) than his career numbers (about 42%). That could mean he got a bit lucky, or he had a higher percentage because of power play time, or the different playing style meant he was more involved in the offense.
In summary: it could be that a new style of play from Hitchcock might mean we expect a lower shooting percentage from Klingberg, but it is also possible that it means he is more involved in the offense and getting those assists. It might be that Klingberg saw a few too many assists this year and those will drop off slightly, but his shooting percentage will improve, resulting in more goals. It is hard to know exactly which will be the case but overall I say that a 65ish point Klingberg can definitely be a new normal.
Alex Radulov
In his first season as a Star, Alex Radulov definitely impressed. If we take a look at the table below, he is ranked among some pretty impressive company for 2017-18. He was the ninth most valuable dedicated (i.e. not centre eligible) winger over the course of the season. Those wingers around him have an average draft position of 64, while Radulov was taken 90th overall.

Radulov had a decent year in 2016-17 with Montreal, but it is clear that a change of scenery did him a lot of good. Every scored stat, and most of the underlying numbers increased after his transition to Dallas.

I honestly do not think a lot of analysis is needed here. He played in more games, saw more time on ice, more power play time, and played with better linemates. This all resulted in an increase in production across the board.
His personal shooting percentage, IPP, and team even strength shooting percentage were all remarkably consistent between his Montreal and Dallas years. All of that says to me that everything he is doing is sustainable, and we had better adjust our draft positions accordingly.
Overvalued:
Jason Spezza
When folks drafted Jason Spezza in 2017-18 I am sure they were hoping that 16-17 was a deviation and that he would return to his recent 65 point self. There was even some optimism that Radulov would add a winger to the mix that might be a jolt of energy for the ageing Spezza. Man. It did not work out.
Spezza finished the season as the 484th most valuable player in the league and is the only one of the players shown below to be drafted (not being drafted correlates roughly to a position of 350+). Spezza was drafted 163rd overall.

Spezza still saw two minutes a night on the power play sometimes on the first unit and managed 11 power play points. That’s about it.
Spezza saw his lowest (and often by a large margin) goal, assist, point, shot, power play point, power play time on ice, total time on ice, shooting percentage, IPP, and team five on five shooting percentage of his career. Just one note of emphasis here, Spezza has just been absolutely shedding time on ice since 2011-12 where he was seeing 20 minutes a night. It has dropped every year and in 2017-18 where he is down to 13. Towards the end of season, he was even seeing as few as nine (!!) minutes. Oh, and he is also 35.
Going forward I just don’t have much optimism. It is possible that his IPP, personal shooting percentage and team even strength shooting percentage indicates that he got some (like a lot of) bad luck last year. If we are generous and give him his average shooting percentage and better puck luck in his other stats and he could conceivably add 15 points to his total. That would mean we are looking at a 41 point season. Better, but still not draftable in many leagues. It is also possible (and likely) that getting back to those career averages is going to be harder and harder as he goes into his age-35 season and is getting a max of 13 minutes a night. So yes maybe 2018-19 won’t be as bad as 2017-18, but at this point in his career, I am certain there are other players whose apparent ceilings are higher than a half point per game.
Julius Honka, Antoine Roussel, Martin Hanzal
I am not going to go in depth on these three, as they are much deeper adds, but it is worth a note that they all underperformed their draft position significantly. That feat is slightly more impressive given that none of them were typically drafted in in leagues featuring less than 250 players.
Thanks for reading.

Fantasy Hockey stock report: NHL risers and fallers
Washington Capitals center Lars Eller is off to a strong start in 2018, and offers value in deeper leagues and daily formats. (AP Photo/Nick Wass, File)
By Jan Levine, RotoWire Senior Hockey Writer Special to Yahoo Sports
This week’s article includes a pair of third-line centers, somewhat of an unknown in Tampa, P.K. rolling, Bobby Lu close to returning and a young D-man enduring growing pains.
First Liners (Risers)
Lars Eller, C, WAS – Eller has had a pretty good start to 2018. In 14 games prior to Sunday’s contest, Washington’s third-line center has tallied six goals and five assists to up his season marks to 11 and 17. Saturday, Eller, who came over to the Caps in 2016 from the Canadiens, inked a five-year deal worth $3.5 million annually. Eller’s recent upswing in scoring has been aided by a shooting percentage of 25, so expect a decline, but he still has value in deeper leagues and daily formats.
Ryan Dzingel, C, OTT – It’s been a rough season for Ottawa, but Dzingel has been one of the few bright spots. Since the calendar flipped to 2018, Dzingel has recorded six goals, 13 points, 34 shots and 10 PIM through 17 games. He’s averaged 17:02 of ice time – 2:00 with the man advantage – and is on pace to post a career-best showing across the board. If the Senators sell at the trade deadline, Dzingel could be in position to move up the depth chart.
Mitch Marner, RW, TOR – Marner had a monster game Saturday, notching a pair of goals while also adding three assists against Ottawa. Those five points gave the sophomore winger 42 points (12 goals, 30 assists) in 57 games after he posted 61 (19 goals, 42 assists) in 77 contests last season as a rookie. Drafted as a center, Marner has moved to right wing on Toronto’s second line, skating with Nazem Kadri and Patrick Marleau.
J.T. Miller, LW, NYR – Miller notched a pair of assists Friday and has now collected two goals, six assists and three multi-point showings through his past seven outings. It’s been an uneven year for Miller, who has struggled at times while bouncing from center to wing during the season. His recent hot streak has him on track to flirt with last season’s 57-point showing, as he now has 37 points in 55 games, An RFA after the season, Miller’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors with the Rangers set to be sellers at the deadline.
Yanni Gourde, RW, TB – Gourde extended his point streak to five with an assist Saturday. In addition, he has a total of 11 points over his last eight games. On the year, Gourde sits with 20 goals and 21 assists in 55 games in his first full season in the NHL. One note of caution is that Gourde has a shooting percentage over 21, so expect some regression there.
P.K. Subban, D, NAS – Subban is having a magical second season in Nashville. He was shut out Saturday, but Subban has 43 points in 54 games with 18 coming on the power play. The former Canadien went scoreless for four games in December, but he’s since tallied 11 goals while adding 14 assists in 25 games. Subban should get strong consideration for the Norris Trophy come June.
Alexander Edler, D, VAN – In his past 15 games, Edler has notched a goal and 11 assists, albeit with a minus-7 rating. One big criticism of Edler has been his inability to stay healthy, as he last played a full season back in 2011-12. In addition, with a year remaining on the six-year, $30 million extension he signed in 2013, Vancouver might have a tough time moving him.
Braden Holtby, G, WAS – Holtby’s ratios prior to Sunday’s game – 2.74 GAA and .916 save percentage — leave a bit to be desired. But he has won four of his past five games to improve to 28-10-2 for the campaign, though he allowed five goals on 29 shots in an overtime loss to the Red Wings on Sunday. After winning the Vezina Trophy in 2015-16, Holtby might have been even better last year, posting a 2.07 GAA and .925 save percentage while notching 42 victories. Set as Washington’s No. 1 netminder, expect Holtby to continue to rack up wins.
Brian Elliott, D, PHI – Elliott missed four games recently but has hit the ground running since returning. Coming into Saturday’s contests against the Coyotes, Elliott had won each of his last four starts, and stretching back to before he was sidelined, seven of his last eight outings. Elliott’s overall ratios aren’t impressive, but he has righted the ship after several rough patches and appears to be the top option in Philly.
Others include Mathew Barzal, Joe Pavelski, Tyler Seguin, Calle Jarnkrok, Tyson Jost, Connor McDavid, Matt Duchene, Evgeni Malkin, Sean Monahan, Eric Staal, Pavel Zacha, Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Steven Stamkos, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Anze Kopitar, Blake Wheeler, Henrik Lundqvist, Jonathan Marchessault, Alexander Steen, Scott Hartnell, Josh Bailey, Jamie Benn, Johnny Gaudreau, Patrick Kane, Artemi Panarin, Ondrej Kase, Kyle Palmieri, Jason Zucker, Rickard Rakell, Brock Boeser, Brent Seabrook, Shyane Gostisbehere, Hampus Lindholm, Brent Burns, Keith Yandle, Jeff Petry, Brent Burns, Torey Krug, John Klingberg, Drew Doughty, T.J. Brodie, Jeff Petry, Darcy Kuemper, Robin Lehner, Ben Bishop, Marc-Andre Fleury, Devan Dubnyk and Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Training Room (Injuries)
Roberto Luongo, G, FLA – Bobby Lu, out since Dec. 4 with a groin injury, returned to practice for the first time since the injury Thursday. James Reimer, now out with his own groin injury, and Harri Sateri have held the fort as well as possible with Luongo out. Florida will more than welcome back their top netminder, as Luongo could return to game action sometime this week.
Others include Jack Eichel (lower body, possible ankle, left Saturday’s game), Brock Boeser (hand injury, missed Friday’s game), Boddy Ryan (hand, will miss at least three weeks due to a finger injury that includes ligament issues), Patric Hornqvist (lower body, placed on IR), Shea Weber (foot, out since mid-December, shed his walking boot, skated Wednesday), Jonas Brodin (fractured left hand, underwent surgery, out 3-to-4 weeks), Ryan McDonagh (upper body, missed Friday’s skate and will miss upcoming road trip), Cory Schneider (groin, sidelined since Jan. 23), Malcolm Subban (undisclosed, injured and placed on IR on Saturday) and Ondrej Pavelec (ankle, injured Friday, placed on IR on Saturday).
Fourth Liners/Press Boxers (Fallers)
Derek Ryan, C, CAR – Ryan saw top-six minutes earlier this season but has drifted slowly down the Canes’ depth chart and is now centering the fourth line. He failed to land on the scoresheet for the sixth straight game Friday, skating a season-low 11:52 in the contest. Ryan still has 26 points in 55 games – just three away from the career-best 29 he posted last season – but his decline in ice time and role makes it difficult to rely on him.
Ryan Callahan, RW, TB – Callahan posted a helper Saturday, but that point gives the veteran winger just three in his last 16 games. Injuries have cost Cally several games in each season, but that’s not the sole reason for his struggles. The former Rangers captain tied his career high with 54 points in 2014-15, but dropped to 28 the following season. A second hip surgery limited Callahan to just 18 games last season and he is playing on the fourth line this year, limiting his fantasy value.
Will Butcher, D, NJD – Butcher has fallen off following the brilliant start to his NHL career. After opening with 18 points in his first 23 appearances, he has just 11 points without a goal in his last 32 games. His 29 points include 16 with the man advantage, and Butcher may have already exceeded expectations, but his struggles of late have shown that life in the NHL as a young blueliner can be tough.
Carey Price, G, MTL – Price was solid Saturday night against Nashville but lost in a shootout to drop to 1-4-1 in his last six starts. However, his 2.19 GAA and .924 save percentage in his last five starts indicate that his struggles have been more to do with the team than his individual play. It’s been a disappointing season for Price, who entered the game just 15-20-4 with a 2.95 GAA and .906 save percentage on the year. Price was limited to just 12 games in 2015-16 due to injury but was a finalist for the 2017 Vezina Trophy and entered this season looking to build off that solid campaign. That has not been the case, as the face of the Montreal franchise is in the midst of his worst-ever campaign.
Others include Nicklas Backstrom, Martin Hanzal, Max Domi, Patrick Maroon, Jeff Skinner, Jesper Bratt, Evander Kane, Colin White, Kevin Bieksa, Anton Stralman, Ryan Ellis, Thomas Hickey, Connor Hellebuyck, Jacob Markstrom, Thomas Greiss and Jeff Glass.

Fine Motor Skills (FMS): The crew performed a series of interactive tasks to complete a FMS session. The investigation studies how the fine motor skills are effected by long-term microgravity exposure, different phases of microgravity adaptation, and sensorimotor recovery after returning to Earth gravity. The goal of this investigation is to understand how fine motor performance in microgravity trends/varies over the duration of a six-month and yearlong space mission; how fine motor performance on orbit compare with that of a closely matched participant on Earth; and how performance trend/vary before and after gravitational transitions, including the periods of early flight adaptation and very early/near immediate post-flight periods. Veg-03 Operations: The crew checked and photo documented status of plants in the Veggie facility. The goal of Veg-03 is to further demonstrate proof of concept for the Veggie plant growth chamber and the planting pillows using Red Romaine lettuce. Future long-duration missions into the solar system will require a fresh food supply to supplement crew diets which entails growing crops in space. Previous investigations focused on improving productivity in controlled environments but the limited quarters of the space shuttle and ISS made it difficult to conduct large-scale crop production tests. Veg-03 expands on previous validation tests of the new Veggie hardware which crew members will soon use to grow cabbage, lettuce and other fresh vegetables. Tests determine which types of microorganisms are present in space-grown cabbage, providing baseline data for future crop-growing efforts. Behavioral health surveys assess the impact of growing plants on crew morale and mood. Manufacturing Device (MD) Operations: The crew removed and replaced (R&Rd) the MD Feedstock Canister, Extruder, and Print Tray. The MD – Additive Manufacturing Facility (AMF) enables the production of components on the ISS for both NASA and commercial objectives. Parts, entire experiments, and tools can be created on demand utilizing the AMF. The AMF is capable of producing parts out of a wide variety of thermopolymers including engineered plastics. Electrostatic Levitation Furnace (ELF) Sample Holder Exchange: The crew performed a JAXA ELF Sample exchange in the Multi-Purpose Small Payload Rack-2 (MSPR2) facility. They removed the sample holder and installed a new cartridge into the holder, then installed the Sample Holder and Cartridge into the ELF Work Volume. The ELF is an experimental facility designed to levitate/melt/solidify materials by containerless processing techniques using the Electrostatic Levitation method. With this facility, thermophysical properties of high temperature melts can be measured, and solidification from deeply undercooled melts can be achieved. Microgravity Science Laboratory (MSL) Sample Cartridge Assembly (SCA) Exchange: The crew completed a cartridge exchange in the MSL located in the Material Science Research Rack (MSRR). They removed the used sample cartridge and replaced it with the next test sample. Batch-2b of the Materials Science Laboratory Sample Cartridge Assemblies (MSL SCA-Batch 2b-ESA) serves two projects investigating how different phases organize in a structure when metallic alloys are solidified. The METCOMP project studies the phase formed by the reaction of the remaining liquid phase with an already formed solid to form a second solid phase on cooling. For this purpose, Bronze (Copper-Tin Alloys) of different compositions will be processed. The other project, Solidification along a Eutectic path in Ternary Alloys (SETA), looks at how two phases that form together organize into lamellar, or fiber, structures when cooling Aluminum (Copper-Silver Alloys). Both projects will provide benchmark samples that enables testing of numerical models that aim to predict these structures. 50 Soyuz (50S) Arrival Preparations: The crew reconnected a wireless Station Support Computer (SSC) client to the Joint Station Local Area Network (JSL) to allow ground teams to load and configure the clients for 50S crew use. Distillation Assembly (DA) Remove & Replace (R&R): The crew R&Rd the Water Recovery System (WRS) DA and verified torque level of the rack-side mounting plate fasteners. The R&R was performed as a result of the Urine Processing Assembly producing distillate with an elevated/erratic conductivity. Analysis of samples has shown that pretreated urine (PTU) is present in the Separator Plumbing Assembly (SPA) distillate. Fault tree investigation determined that the source of this PTU was either the DA or the Fluids Control and Pump Assembly. The UPA will be activated later today. Remote Power Controller (RPC) Trip: Yesterday RPC 16 on Remote Power Control Module (RPCM) N21B4B_B tripped open. This RPC powers the Node 2 Moderate Temperature Loop (MTL) System Flow Control Assembly (SFCA) Valve which impacts the ability for closed-loop control of the Node2 MTL loop flow. The current loads on the Node 2 MTL are supported with the valve in its current position. Should thermal loads on this loop change, the crew can manually adjust this valve. The main system loads on this loop are four DC-to-DC Converter Units (DDCU) for the JEM and Columbus modules. Telemetry reviewed by ground teams indicated ~3Amp overcurrent event. Ground Teams are evaluating a forward plan to recover. Today’s Planned Activities All activities were completed unless otherwise noted.
