I've been thinking about the new episode of rvb all day.... I can't believe it’s only the 4th episode in the season and Grif already tried to kill himself. I really never expected canon to actually go there so I was pretty stunned. I'm really excited to see how Grif develops this season because holy shit he’s really starting from rock bottom. He's just so tired and I can't wait to see how Simmons will eventually react to learning that Grif tried to blow himself up, especially considering he's the only one who knew about the “hate glue” incident and didn’t tell anyone or do anything about it. I'm just so pumped for this season. I really love everything about it so far!!

I see your point here, and I agree somewhat.

What I meant by Wash development free from Carolina was that the minute Carolina stepped onto the scene, she’s had to apologize for everything Freelancer did. She’s been the one to blame; Carolina fix this, Carolina apologize to Sharkface, Carolina go and fix things with Epsilon. It seems as if all the freelancer character arcs have been centered around Carolina, that she’s the one who needs to go and repent for everything they did. I agree that Wash definitely has received a character arc (I made an entire lyric comic about it lmaoo,) but nothing as explicit as Carolina’s numerous blame-fests. If you think about it, Wash never actually got a redemption arc, they just stuck him in at Season 9 without another word. I want the show to acknowledge that Wash is not blameless either, I want to see him actually apologize for things he did in the past or at least mention Epsilon. Leave Carolina alone for a bit and work things out with Wash, because right now, his character feels unfinished to me.

Otherwise, I agree with what you’re saying here. Carolina still feels really distant from the Reds and Blues despite how many sub plots have been focused around her, and she felt detached from Wash for most of the Chorus trilogy. The reason I want more Wash development is because his character feels incomplete, with too many loose ends lying around. Once we tie those loose ends up, I would be comfortable with the Freelancers taking the back burner and just taking a goddamn nap and just being friends. I don’t want to drag out the freelancer angst, but I also don’t want to leave Wash unfinished while Carolina has already received several “apology” arcs.
