Photo by @viveksingh ・・・ "The Curse of Melghat" - 05 Hatru, Weekly Bazaar. Melghat, Maharashtra, India. Over multiple trips in 2013, Anosh Malekar and I visited and documented a lesser know Indian tribe called the "Korkus" who reside in Melghat. Anosh spent almost six years documenting the tribe. In his report(Link in BIO to the whole story), here's how he describes Melghat. "Mel-ghat, broken into two words, suggests a ‘meeting of ghats.’ In Marathi, a ghat is a difficult pass in the mountains. Travelling in the hills is indeed arduous and tiresome, especially if you come from the plains. The place is 700-odd kilometres north-east of India’s financial powerhouse, Mumbai, and one has to cross the vast countryside to reach it via Amravati, through a landscape of open fields, trees and dry streams that seem unending till the hills rise, wrinkled and hairy."
