Love doesn't need to impress anyone. I don't need to be the biggest (fastest) person in the room. Glorifying #Jesus does not always mean rainbows and butterflies. Jesus loves me regardless of my performance. And I might never understand why I was in pain, but I trust that He always has a purpose behind it. Love is the antidote to self worship. If I truly love, then I don't need to idolize myself or my performance. It would not steal my joy if things don't always go my way. It's tough. Every time. But I think this is where Jesus wants me to grow. We need the bad days to appreciate the good days. We need to learn to be ok with a detour and trust that Jesus has a better plan for us, though it might not necessarily be easier. At the end of the day, He will redeem every situation and will make everything beautiful in its time. Oh man. This wasn't the #race I was expecting. To be honest I felt bummed out. The first 8 miles were amazing. If I kept that pace I would have pr. But at mile 8, my hamstring and calf were super sore and my stomach cramped. And it was hilly too. 😥Despite the pain, I pushed through and it was one of the hardest races I've run. Luckily, Sébastien was by my side the whole time and (again) helped me to finish strong. But I was 💔 because when you train hard and know you can achieve your goal, but it ends up crumbling down in front of you, it's hard to let it go. I was disappointed and mad at myself, thinking if I just pushed a little bit harder, then... But #Jesus always has the right words to say at the perfect moment. I opened my instagram and I saw Olympian runner @karagoucher couldn't complete her marathon because of an injury, but she still had a positive spirit and now will come back even stronger. Even the best of the best don't always have their best days, but that shouldn't stop our joy and determination. Then I heard a sermon from @shepherdchurch that taught me:Love does not boast, it is not proud, it is not self seeking. 1 Corinthians 13:5 OK, what is the real reason I'm #running? It's because I love it and because I want to bring Jesus the glory. So if I love it, then why do I need to be faster and boast about my results? Why do I need to impress others? Why do I need other people's praises and admiration? Why do I need to make it about me? I'm heading the wrong direction here. Sometimes I think that if I get it my way and if people recognize me for my talent, then life has meaning. But that's equally to me saying "My plan will be done, not Jesus's." And it is glorifying me, not Jesus. That means I'm putting myself before Jesus. That means I worship myself.
