Meet @alessflabbyabby I was strong but chubby much of my life, but when I got pregnant I gained 75 lbs. I didn't recognize myself, avoided family photos, felt uncomfortable, and hated running into people. I couldn't take the summer heat. I had gestational diabetes while pregnant. My marriage was suffering. Things had to change. I took baby steps. I halved my portions when we went out and took home leftovers. I had already given up soda and juice but started drinking lots of water. I walked and eventually ran 2-3x/week and tracked my food for 6 mos. until I learned what to eat. No extremes. I never ate <1750 calories while losing weight and now I eat a lot! I taught myself how to cook and became a runner. I lost 50 lbs. the 1st year, but- most importantly- fell in love with running and took control of my life. I learned more about achieving my goals from fitness than I ever did in college. 4 years later, I've maintained a 90-lb. loss from my highest weight. I'm proof that slow and sustainable changes add up to big results. Find something you love to do, eat well, and stay the course. Don't make it just about the scale! Starting tip: Take photos! Seeing your progress visually will motivate you when the scale stops moving. ________________ How has the Wlstories community influenced your journey?
