Bus to Rundle Mall...

We took the bus into Adelaide today to go to the Rundle Mall.  The bus ride was about 35 minutes, and was very pleasant.  The mall is huge, and it is both a pedestrian mall outside and an indoor mall.  It was buzzing with people and fun to walk around.  There was every kind of store you can imagine.  We picked up a few things, including a jacket for Bill, a magnetic phone holder for the car (we’ll be getting rental soon), and a hat for me that won’t fly off when I’m kayaking in New Zealand.  

We found a great place for lunch, called Eat for Life Cafe, and had a delicious plant-based lunch.  

We caught the bus back, and were thoroughly confused about the bus fare.  We were charged $5.50/each going and $2.80/each returning.  We just paid cash to the driver when we boarded.  When I got back to the apartment I called the metro office and learned that we should’ve been charged more for the return.  Apparently, the off-peak and peak hours have different prices.  Also, if you have a metro card there’s a discount.  We’re still a bit confused but it may be worth getting a card.  

We noticed that when people are getting off of the bus, they wave to the drive and say “thank you”.  The bus driver was looking at the people as they got off the bus, and he waved back. Did I say people are really nice here?
