Disgustingly messy and crusty sketch dump but I couldn't get my own terrible theory out of my head and ended up making a bunch of sketches about it. Also at the end a bonus dickbats and Damian doodle bc I was reading an issue of their Batman and Robin run (IDs in Alt)

So these costumes are really confusing me. We don’t think that it’s Pure Vanilla’s awakened form because it’s too similar to how he already looks, and the other costume looks like pre-corruption Shadow Milk. I think it’d be weird if they gave PV a whole matching costume that…looks the same as he already does. So maybe the costumes are for the opposite of what they look like. I personally really want there to be some kind of body swap/possession thing going on (and with some of the official art of SM literally puppeteering PV around I don’t think it’s unlikely), and I think we’re all hoping that these two’s story doesn’t just end after this update.

SO MAYBE beast yeast 7/8 will end on a cliffhanger, Pure Vanilla gets to the top of the spire of deceit alone, no one is there to witness them switch, and while the other beast stories are happening (and this would be why SM is released a lot earlier that we though), PV is stuck, Shadow Milk is ruining his life, and the costumes are released to serve as a reminder :)

I think it’s one the best possible scenarios that could happen, but we won’t know for a couple more weeks!

What? A new Tmnt iteration?? . anyways *throws this at you*

So a bit of backstory for this iteration!

In this universe, Mutagen is produced naturally in the 'hidden city' (now called the OtherWorld/UnderWorld), bubbling from far beneath the earth and forming rare pools.

The Empyrean mutates any animal that comes into contact with it -and in most cases this causes a transformation into a bloodthirsty unstable monster. Though in rarer cases the mutation will actually be stable -effectively making a yokai.

And even though theyve already been mutated, both the creatures and yokai both need to continuously consume Empyrean to survive. This causes a cutthroat environment, where only the strong survive by killing and eating anything that has come into contact with Empyrean.

basically all transformed creatures in the UnderWorld can go for much longer than normal without air/water/food/shelter, but now must also search for empyrean.

Some stable Yokai can create entrances to Earth, though it takes time and focus, and most of all, Power. Its basically futile unless you yourself were mutated, or you're parents were, any generations down from that wont have enough power.

(as generations continue, they loose their reliance on Empyrean, but also loose their mystic power- at the 8-10 gen they loose all mystic abilities)

And how do the turtles play into this?

They were brought to the surface by Splinter once Donnie, Leo and Raph were mutated (Mikey being 5 at the time). Where he kept them safe in New Yorks sewers. He would have to leave for days however to go back to the OtherWorld to obtain Empyrean to keep himself and his children healthy. Instrucing Mikey to keep her brothers safe for the time he was gone.

Then one day, he didnt come back

Leaving Mikey responsible for taking care of her younger siblings. And leaving her to venture into the OtherWorld to find Empyrean herself and keep everyone alive.

Its on her first trip that her mystic powers awaken, and she is marred with her first and last set of scars.

And trauma. So so much trauma. >:D

Last chance

“I’m not asking for a promise, I’m asking for a chance.”  

Macaque swallowed, the tips of his finger burning with hunger as Wukong grasped them close. Vile bitterness crawling up his throat, an angry sorrow pounding in his heart.  

“I-“ He looked up, golden eyes lit with such an intensity. Begging, pleading for him to answer.  The darker, more wicked side of him tempted his tongue. It would easy, much too easy to watch as Wukongs fragile heart broke in pieces. All light bleeding from his eyes as that sense of loneliness and guilt ate him from the inside out. Watching as he drowned himself into his purgatory of regrets-

But Macaque had enough of taking the easy way out.  And perhaps, the never ending revenge he thirsted for was a form of hell itself. 

He searched for any sense of malice, a crack in the easygoing-yet frightening facade the Monkey king had created.  

and yet… 

The only thing off about him was the shaking. That nervous trembling, that he could feel as the king grasped tighter around his hand.  

Wukong was scared-

Scared  

Scared, of the Six-eared Macaque-!  

It was tragically ironic, in the way the roles had once upon a time been reversed. Macaque doing anything-everything-to get a single rise out of Wukong. And no matter what he could do-there was nothing-that could cause such fear. But oh, how easy it was for Wukong to bring Macaque inches before death, leaving him to rot at the edge-with no escape. Now that, was truly frightening. Something worthy to be frightened about.

And in that moment, a single heated glare. Blinded by fury and utter rage so dangerous and vicious-And in that moment Wukong did not see Macaque, but rather a malicious shadow.

Now this, this Macaque could not understand. And his heart so pleaded for him to give in-

Wukong by now had started shifting his feet. A death grip on Macaque’s arm as he awaited his own fate. Soaking in over second of touch and time he had with Macaque. That wasn’t violent fists, and bloody caresses. 

Macaque breathed in ,“One-Just one chance Wukong-“ 

He never finished his sentence before Wukong eyes widened. A glittering sheen at the corners of his eyes, bringing Macaque into his flaming embrace. They stood there, grasping each other like a lifeline. Rocking back and forth as laughing tears trickled from their shy smiles.

”I-“ Wukongs voice cracked, “Thank you.” 

 “Better not screw this up Wukong.”  “No promises.”    “No second chances.”
