The next drawing is of Yukari (pink) smiling and looking up from the book she's reading, though visibly apprehensive. She says, "Uh, yeah, sure, that sounds fun!" While her inner monologue yells "That sounds so fucking boring holy shit". It then cuts to her gripping the protagonist's shoulders, saying, "I need you to come with me to this stupid ass art museum I can't say no to Mitsuru-senpai." The protagonist says, "I, like, could not want to do anything less-" but is interrupted by Yukari adding, "I'll buy you dinner after and you can bring Aegis." The protagonist says, "Deal."

Going into the Persona 5 tag and seeing posts about how M.aruki and Z.enkichi would get along and become a couple just baffles me and makes me a little upset and salty. I get it that it might be a crackship and might be for fun but there is no way Z.enkichi would ever like what M.aruki did to the PTs, S.umire, his own girlfriend R.umi, etc.

If Z.enkichi hated what Ichinose did, I don't see him vibing with M.aruki's plan. Frankly, I don't even think Z.enkichi would like M.aruki's false reality. I know there is a manga panel of them together as a what if scenario but I see that as just being in a group. I think Z.enkichi in actuality would deck M.aruki in the face for claiming Rumi to be gone because she's still alive unlike his own wife, etc.

Sorry for the long winded speech but I just can't apprehend the fandom these days. That's one reason why I just want to go to Persona 6 already so people would move on. I'm just a little tired.

-Sumi: Lovers (gymnastics star and model along with her twin with Kamoshida using Kasumi as leverage against her).

-AkiRen: Faith (Based on a VERY OLD Twins AU I had a while back but slightly modified)

-Akane would be a bonus "Charity" Arcana!

-Sophia: Magician

-Either Morgana (hubby) or Ichinose would work as the Councilor Arcana but not sure yet.

-False Persona: Valjean

-(Proposed by Creepy) Fake outfit would be a stylized detective/steampunk outfit while his true outfit is his canon one but torn up and with holes along with chains that he can manipulate.

-He keeps his hair up in the ponytail for his celebrity persona but lets his hair down in 3rd semester.

Maruki:

-A shut-in researcher since a traumatic incident in college with Shibusawa occasionally stopping by to help him stay fed.

-Since there was a theory that the Conspiracy killed Rumi's parents during the break in as a fear tactic towards Maruki, why not utilize it but with Rumi herself added to the casualties? This led to his status as a shut-in.

-Also goes by (Also from Creepy) 13ARU3 (ICARUS) as an online persona.

-In a twist of irony, his previous online persona was Azathoth before copycats took over.

-Had a drinking habit.

-He would have longer hair tied in a ponytail with more pronounced dark circles under his eyes along with more loose/baggy clothing (primarily due to weight loss).

-His Persona is based on the founder of the Illuminati as well (called, "Weishaupt" to avoid confusion with Johanna and Adam in the Garden of Eden story).

-If I go with that then it would be a pyramid surrounded by rings like Ophanim angels and of course with eyes to help with analysis.

-Maruki's outfit is a tough one since I was thinking of using elements of his godhood outfit but his mask is blank with an eye surrounded by circuitry patterns at the center that glows when in use. And shorter too. Maybe. I'm still thinking.

That's about all I have so far! Need to figure out the others!

You know, I've often seen takes (mostly anti) that basically say that Maruki should have been punished for his actions... Mostly of the severe/horrific kind that even involves Joker letting him fall to his death (which is SEVERELY OOC btw). Though to be perfectly honest... He actually does when you think about it, it's just more subtle. As he said during his breakdown, he gave up everything for his dream and he's not exactly wrong. He's lost his perfect reality, his research/his life's work, he doesn't get back with Rumi as one would expect, he fully quits his job as a counselor/therapist, he's lost everything except for maybe Shibusawa and the PTs themselves. The biggest thing is though, is that he starts to let go of those losses and uses them to start over. He even uses his job as taxi driver to help Joker get away from the police and seems more than happy to do so. Also, remember his final interaction with Joker which best sums up one of Royal's main messages:

So yeah, I feel like he already faced punishment for what he did. But as per the message there, he uses it to improve and heal and potentially atone. That's at least my takeaway here.

Plus remember how Ichinose tried to turn herself in at the end of Strikers only to be rejected because no one believed her about the supernatural occurrences (her case was odd though because Zenkichi was exposed to it too so he could've vouched for her story there, then again he would probably be dismissed too but it's hard to say) so jail time wouldn't work if Maruki even remotely tried (which I wouldn't be surprised if he did but who knows).

also have a weakness for ichinose/maruki imagery but only because i want her to pull his teeth out but so far i couldnt really draw it right

A random headcanon: wife and i luv making family headcanons so here it goes; maruki has extreme parental issues with his dad-problems being very obvious to him (never-enough-isms, neglect, hates this guy) vs him not being aware of his moms abuse (emotionally manipulative, plays him against his father, overbearing). its a rather complicated dynamic that gets worse after his mom dies around the time of the break-in.

can imagine his dad tries to do better afterwards and wants to reconnect and become a better father/man but maruki refuses to engage (valid). also every time i think of his dad i just see the head doctor of trauma center idk man

General Opinion over said character: this guy made persona 5 good and actually managed to offer an interesting theme to chew on and dissect, in my personal opinion lool literally such a well written character, so subtle in his manipulation that even he nor the player gets it. such a step up from the other comically evil palace owners, and third semester added such an amazing soundtrack and aesthetic on top of that. love thinking how hes such a disgusting man while still being.. just your friendly guy with good intentions. just think the way he acts is extremely believable and fun to think about

i cannot believe how a persona game did this, and hearing the writer for this arc is gonna take over the next game truly makes me excited for whats to come hehe
