As with 2023, I started 2024 off with great ambitions regarding writing and gifing and editing:

I ended up posting [in 2023] only a handful of gifsets, three ficlets, two of which I wrote for Rumbelle Showdown (shoutout to @jackabelle73 for hosting this wonderful event last year, by the way), and 0 fanvids/edits. I'm not particularly proud of it, and I really, really wanna make much more content this year.

And, as with 2023, I ended up posting only a handful of little things, a couple of moodboards and gifsets and a couple of tiny ficlets. Honestly? I'm a little baffled as to how it happened (it feels like only yesterday I was writing that post and looked forward to creating much more Rumbelle and Anyelle content in 2024... where did the time go? 😅) and more than a little ashamed, especially considering 2024 was the year I really got into Anyelle.

We've already seen how this promises go, but I really really really do hope I'll have enough time and spoons and inspiration to write and edit and gif and put together much much more things on this blog and in this fandom. Guess we'll see next year how well it went?)

How to deal with a feeling of loneliness in a fandom space? Like there are people, lots of them, but everyone already has friends and I just don't fit no matter how much I try, and meanwhile new people fit in and make friends so effortlessly, I envy them.

When I find out, I'll tell ya.

I really don't know how to make real friends on the internet. (I have done it, but I don't know how it happened.) I think of my fellow Rumbellers as colleagues or teammates more than people I would have a personal relationship with outside of fandom.

In my experience, a lot of fandom socializing is based around content. Fics, art, gifsets, hot takes, reactions to the source material. Either you make something and people respond to it and you respond back, or you see something someone else made and you respond to it and either the creator or another fan also responds. That can be the start of a conversation.

I met my wife through fandom. We would endlessly gush about the show and other people's fics and then we'd start sharing ideas for our own fics and in the process we started sharing our opinions on other stories and shows and movies, and eventually we started telling each other everything and talking all the time. (It also helped that we lived with in driving distance of each other, so we were able to meet IRL.)

Obviously, that's unusual, and I haven't really been able to replicate it, but I hope it gives you some hope. Like in real life, you're not going to connect with everybody--but there are some people out there who are waiting for someone just like you. In the mean time, be open, be kind, and do the activities that make you happy. Chances are that's where you'll find people who can make you happy.

2023 year was my first year in the fandom (well, technically 2022 was my first year in the fandom and the year I made my Belle rp blog, but in terms of actually contributing something to the fandom 2023 was my first year).

I started it off with great ambitions regarding writing and gifing and editing.
