Prompts for AI-less Whumptober 2025

It was tough to pick from all you guys' amazing suggestions, but we managed to end up with a lovely list of prompts to work with, AND not a single repeat prompt from last year which we found quite important. Additional info + plain text versions of the prompts can be found under the cut.

FAQ and Rules

What sort of content can I create for this event?

You can create whatever you want (fic, art, edits, etc). Any fandom is allowed, as well as OC stuff. NSFW is allowed, but please tag your content accordingly! The only thing not allowed is AI-generated content.

Do I need to make 31 things to participate?

Oh heavens no! You can make as much or as little content as you like, skip days when desired, or combine prompts (so for example, write something that covers a prompt from day 1, 2, AND 3). You don't have to do the days in order either, go wild! To be considered a 'completionist', you only have to make sure that at the end of the month, you've covered 31 prompts from 31 different days, but whether you do that in 31 works or just 1 is up to you. Your works can be separate onshots or one continuous fic.

How do I interpret these prompts?

Creativity is the name of the game here! If you don't understand a prompt, feel free to send us an ask about it. However, the important thing is you're free to interpret the prompts however you want. For example, 'heat' could be literal (fever, heatstroke, burn wounds) or figurative (somebody getting heat for something). The dialogue prompts are allowed to be slightly rewritten to fit better for the character whose mouth it's coming out of. As long as you're having fun!

What are these alts about?

If none of the three prompts of a particular day are your cup of tea, you can swap them out for an alt prompt of your choice. This will count as having covered that day for completionists.

How do I tag and is there an AO3 collection?

It suffices to tag your work with #ailesswhumptober for us to see and reblog it! Please also tag nsfw, since we'll be using that tag too. Tagging the day is optional but does help the mods along.

There is an AO3 collection to add your fics to. It will be revealed and linked here closer to the start of the event.

For Your Consideration 2024 (@the-chipped-cup-awards)

As with 2023, I started 2024 off with great ambitions regarding writing and gifing and editing:

I ended up posting [in 2023] only a handful of gifsets, three ficlets, two of which I wrote for Rumbelle Showdown (shoutout to @jackabelle73 for hosting this wonderful event last year, by the way), and 0 fanvids/edits. I'm not particularly proud of it, and I really, really wanna make much more content this year.

And, as with 2023, I ended up posting only a handful of little things, a couple of moodboards and gifsets and a couple of tiny ficlets. Honestly? I'm a little baffled as to how it happened (it feels like only yesterday I was writing that post and looked forward to creating much more Rumbelle and Anyelle content in 2024... where did the time go? 😅) and more than a little ashamed, especially considering 2024 was the year I really got into Anyelle.

We've already seen how this promises go, but I really really really do hope I'll have enough time and spoons and inspiration to write and edit and gif and put together much much more things on this blog and in this fandom. Guess we'll see next year how well it went?)

I'm watching this 2012-13 tv show called "Go On" right now, and I can't get enough of it, so I'm binging it and yet I'm so sad that I'll run out of it soon because there's only 1 season, 20 episodes.

It's fun, it's weird, it's sweet at times and at times sad, it's got nice lessons, it's all you could want from a tv show to watch after a stressful day, curling up on the couch with a cup of tea / glass of wine, and it's so unfair that they didn't get any more seasons, because it's just... sooo good?

In short, I recommend you all to go and watch it right now, trust me, it won't be a waste of your time!

(Also, it's got Matthew Perry in the leading role - who is fantastic in every aspect, not just the funny bits, yes, thank you very much - and the supporting cast is great, too)

Forgot to mention this in the previous post, but yeah, Renard's French is very nice on the ears and Belle loves it when he speaks French (and his endearments more often than not make her blush the most endearing shade of red)

I will turn this into a ficlet at some point, but I just wanted to share with y'all guys that versions of Renard and Belle that live in my head use following nicknames for each other:

Renard calls Belle different endearments in French, like "mon petit trésor" or "ma petite fleur", for a number of reasons, main reasons are: Belle deserves only the most beautiful things, to suit her, and those are the most beautiful names he can think of; French endearments often include "petit" in it, so when she annoys him, he likes to remind her of her height in the most romantic and yet teasing way possible

Belle calls him Vitya and, on especially rare occasions, Viten'ka (which are the Russian diminutives for Victor)

Both of them also use standard English endearments, Belle much more often than Victor. She's all "darling that", "honey this", while Victor mostly resorts to French or "sweetheart".
