A smaller stone-walled house near the Mukami manor used to be a servants' house back in the day, but it was abandoned before Karlheinz purchased the manor and its lands. Since the Mukamis didn't have use for the house, they paid no attention to it.

At least until Ruki realized that the manor's third floor wouldn't be the safest place to live with a baby. Searching for another housing solution, he remembered the abandoned house. It took a while to renovate the place even with the familiars working for the cause, but now Ruki and Yuriko have a new home, and yet the other Mukamis live within walking distance. So the family can still gather easily for dinners and spend time together whenever they wish.

Rukiko Changes — Before and After

We got inspired by @mukami-kuron-mrsadisticcat's and @mukami-kou-dazzlingpinkidol's post.

Ruki

Stubbornness

Ruki is damn stubborn when it comes to his ideals and judgments about certain things, especially when it concerns his human life before the turning and his benefactor Karlheinz. However, Yuriko is able to break through his stubbornness and makes him reconsider his views.

Cold-hearted

Cold-hearted and merciless, Ruki shows no empathy for humans. He sees them merely as livestock, a source of food for survival and an occupation to kill some boredom. Yuriko slowly melted that iceberg and drove away some of that coldness. She alone gets to feel his warmth. Towards others, he is still acting cold-hearted.

Composure

Ruki is a calm and collected man. He keeps his composure in almost every situation. His expression seems cold and he doesn't raise his voice. Something heavy has to happen before he gets out of his shell. But when it comes to Yuriko his coolness can disappear very quickly. Jealousy, bloodthirst and also lust are triggers that make him go berserk. He can lose control and shows a completely different side of himself. Of course, he would never hurt or even kill Yuriko. But in the face of potential threats like other men he doesn't hold back. Out of jealousy Ruki is ready to murder for Yuriko.

Punishments

His whole life, Ruki punished people who, in his opinion, had done something wrong. Already in his childhood, he was excessively strict with his servants. As a vampire, however, his punishments reached a new level. Brutal and merciless he let his prey suffer. Yuriko also got to feel this. But Ruki soon realized that he wasn't teaching Yuriko with his punishments, but scared her and driving her away from him. Afraid that one day he would go too far and lose Yuriko, he stopped his sadistic actions towards her. Nowadays, Yuriko has to do more household chores when Ruki thinks punishment is in order.

Jealousy

In the beginning of the relationship, Ruki was overcome with jealousy. So much that he even killed someone once. He punished Yuriko for just looking at pictures of other men. Little by little Ruki learned to live with his jealousy and to deal with it. By now he is able to think before he acts.

Killing

In the past, Ruki wasn't afraid to torture and kill. But with Yuriko's appearance this changed. However, not because his conviction changed in this regard, but because Yuriko asked him not to kill anyone anymore. Afraid of losing Yuriko because of the murders, he stopped and spared the lives of his enemies.

Scars

Ruki doesn't want anyone to touch his scars, neither is he willing to talk about them. But since Yuriko stated she would like to hear the story and wanted to caress his backside too, Ruki reluctantly agreed to this. The moment was both uncomfortable and soothing for him at the same time. He still prefers Yuriko to touch him in other ways but she is the only one who is now allowed to run her fingers over his scars too.

Leaving comfort zone

Ruki is usually reluctant to try out something new, unless it's a potentially tasty recipe. But with Yuriko, he has found himself doing things he never imagined of doing. As allowing Yuriko to touch his scars shows, Ruki has slowly started to be more willing to leave his comfort zone for her every now and then. He doesn't do that without reasoning though.

Trust

Abandoned by his father and mother, betrayed by people and treated badly, Ruki lost his trust in humanity, especially in women. Initially, Ruki saw Yuriko acting as a kind of threat and sometimes reacted very indignantly. But Yuriko didn't give up and continued to fight. Slowly, piece by piece, she gained Ruki's trust. She stayed by his side no matter what he said or did. Ruki appreciated this fact very much, opened up to her and became much calmer about betrayal. Meanwhile, Yuriko has become the person Ruki trusts the most and he returns the same to her without hesitation.

Nightmares

Before Ruki shared the bed with Yuriko, his sleep was regularly plagued by bad nightmares. But since her warm body lies next to him, the nightmares have almost completely disappeared. Very rarely now, his nightly rest is disturbed by these bad dreams. At first, Ruki was very uncomfortable when Yuriko realized he was having a nightmare. He didn't want her to see him so weak. Without saying another word, he retreated to the bathroom and tried to calm down there again. However, Yuriko wanted to be there for him and decided to follow him one day. Of course he reacted rudely, scolding her and threatening punishment. Yuriko ignored his behavior and comforted him anyway. Her soothing words helped him to calm down. Gradually, Ruki understood better and better that there was no reason to hide from her because of his nightmares. Nowadays, he even wakes her up and asks for her comfort.

Softness

Ruki is a sadistic, dominant vampire who shows no mercy. To achieve his goal he plays dirty. Hard punishments are ruthlessly carried out. But when he met Yuriko, this changed. So much that his brothers even tease him about how soft he has become. Yuriko literally pulled out his fangs in their eyes. Yet, jealousy can make his softness disappear in no time.

Spoiled

Ruki is used to do everything alone. He is the big brother who looks after everyone and handles everything. So he now also takes care of Yuriko. What he didn't expect was that Yuriko would take care of him in the same way. This fact was new to him and gave him tense times every now and then. But in the meantime he has gotten used to it and even lets Yuriko spoil him.

Wishes

Ruki always tried to please everyone. He fulfilled the wishes of his benefactor, those of his brothers and now Yuriko's as well. Over it he forgot completely his own needs. He sacrificed himself for others without paying attention to himself. Yuriko tried to change this slowly and asked for Ruki's wishes. But she got the same answer every time. "Just stay by my side. I don't need anything else. I only need you." Yuriko explained to him over and over again that it was okay for him to express what he wanted. Gradually, Ruki understood the meaning of her words and now tries to express his wishes to her.

Making Friends

Ruki is very possessive. Yuriko belongs to him and him alone. It bothered him a lot when she tried to make new friends. He just couldn't understand why she did that. Often the two argued and Ruki told Yuriko that she didn't need anyone else but him. It took some time for Ruki to realize that Yuriko felt lonely and that friends aren't a threat. Today Yuriko has friends that Ruki accepts. Every now and then, however, some jealousy arises. But together with Yuriko he works on it.

Shyness

Yuriko used to be really shy and insecure before she met Ruki. While she still has these traits she also has become more bold and outspoken. Not just with Ruki but other people as well, especially the Mukami family.

Fighting Back

Yuriko didn't have the guts to stand up for herself and she simply took everything, hiding her feelings the best she could. Even though she still does this at times, she has grown the courage to disagree with Ruki and even talking back and fighting with him if needed.

Trust

Because of her experience of people leaving her, Yuriko had trust issues. These aren't completely gone but she has learned to trust more and more. She doesn't fear (that much) of Ruki leaving her anymore and she says she trusts him with all her heart.

Spoiled

When Yuriko was living with her father she was used to not getting anything for herself. The little money she had she saved to buy second hand books and sometimes other nice things. Now, she can have the clothes she likes and eat someone else's (Ruki's) cooking. Aside from that Ruki takes very good care of her, making sure she has everything she needs and yearns.

Wishes

Since Yuriko was used to not getting anything for herself she wasn't comfortable voicing out her wishes. Ruki asking them confused her but since Ruki kept going, she has learned that her wishes matter. And not only that, she now knows that telling Ruki she wishes something makes him consider his actions and might even change the course of the conversation. She sometimes uses this to her advantage.

Making Friends

Slowly Yuriko has been making friends. While Ruki would love to keep her all for him, she is happy to do things with her friends and this little freedom has only made her love Ruki even more.

Horniness and Sex Drive

Ruki was a master of self-control. Whether sucking blood or craving sex, he kept his composure and restrained himself. Only every now and then he had a need for blood and sex. With Yuriko, however, this changed very quickly. For some unknown reason, Ruki is horny for Yuriko 24/7. One touch of her is enough and he is literally on fire. Since the two are together, he sees no reason to hold back and lives out his sexual urges to the fullest.

Dominance

A dominant master who always has everything under control. Being on top is Ruki's preference. He enjoys submissiveness and begging. However, together with Yuriko, he discovered something new that he liked. Yuriko on his lap, riding him. In this intimate moment he is ready to give up some control and lets her do what she wants. However, in order not to give the wrong impression, he is very careful to make it clear that he is the master here as well. Whether words or a teasing jacking up, Ruki shows Yuriko the limits.

Rukiko Housing Headcanons

Thank you for the bedroom tag. Since Ruki's admin and I have been working on Rukiko housing headcanons, we decided to use this challenge for it. In her canon story, Yuriko still has her own room, but that will eventually change to the same as in the Rukiko version, too.

The floor plan is made by Ruki’s admin.

💙 At first, Yuriko had her own room (guestroom) in the Mukami manor but after their engagement, they decided that she should move into the same room with Ruki since she spent most of her nights there anyway.

💙 During their honeymoon, the couple discussed room arrangements. Since they share a love for libraries, one thing led to another, and a week after their return, they started to turn the manor's library into their bedroom.

💙 After finishing the library bedroom, they renovated the toilet on the third floor as a full-on bathroom.

💙 They have the whole third floor of the manor for themselves, but they share other living areas with Ruki's brothers and still use the kitchen and dining room with them. Family evenings and dinners aren't rare.

💙 Since they are living in the library, there are lots of bookshelves that contain their wide and ever-growing literature collection. They also kept a couch and an armchair in the room for comfortable reading.

💙 Other than that, they bought a new bed for their new bedroom. The wooden headboard was something they both wanted, and it was important to find a headboard where it would be easy to tie someone up. The bed needs to be comfortable and wide enough for two but not huge since they sleep close to each other anyway.

💙 They have heavy black curtains, which Ruki finds important for sleeping. Yuriko wanted to add lighter lace curtains over those for decorative reasons.

💙 In the bathroom, the couple has a nice view from the window. They chose the sink and bathtub together. The room has a bit lighter vibe than the other bathroom since Yuriko wished for that.

Ruki wasn't pleased with Yuriko since she literally stumbled onto him in the library. He was thinking that such a simple young woman should be in whole another section, searching for something to read.

But soon, Ruki's sadistic side surfaced and he simply decided to mess up with the poor girl, make her his new prey and entertainment during the dull school hours. At first, he didn't give further thought to it. She was meaningless as a person and only there for his sadistic fun.

Yuriko found Ruki annoying and rude because he didn't take her apology into consideration. Soon, she realized that this young man could be even worse than the bullies in her former school which made her scared. So, she wished to avoid Ruki at any cost... Yet, Ruki made sure it wasn't possible.

What do they love most about the other? Why?

Ruki loves that Yuriko is a kind and caring person who accepts him as he is. He sees her as smart and brave and loves that part of her too. And the fact that Yuriko stays with him. No matter what he has said and done, Yuriko hasn't tried to run. She had stayed and worked to make things better for them.

Yuriko loves that Ruki wanted to have her. For a long time, she felt like she was a nuisance and disturbance, someone who didn't belong anywhere. But Ruki simply wanted to have her for himself. Of course, she also loves that they share interests and that Ruki treats her well (he didn't in the beginning but this has changed during their time together). With Ruki, Yuriko has a home and family. She belongs.

How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?

Ruki says "I love you" with gentle kisses which he places all over Yuriko. She says it with soft touches and cuddling but also with kisses. They both are very fond of physical closeness, so this comes naturally for them.

Describe their nighttime routine.

Now, when they don't go to Ryoutei Academy anymore, they actually have free time in the evenings and nights. That has changed their routines closer to the normal daily schedule.

Yuriko loves to take a bath every evening, so she is relaxing in the bathtub. They have renovated a separate bathroom for themselves on the third floor of the Mukami manor. So, she doesn't need to worry about privacy.

While Yuriko is bathing, Ruki stretches and gets their pajamas ready. After that, he either joins Yuriko in the bath or comes into the bathroom to read to her while she enjoys the hot water. He prefers to take a shower in the morning, so he doesn't always feel like bathing.

After the bath, the couple brushes their teeth and changes into pajamas... unless they have plans where those are in the way~

They head for the bed, where they read and cuddle or do other things until they are tired enough to fall asleep. Many times, Yuriko nods off first but sometimes Ruki might doze off before her if she strokes his hair gently.

At first, Yuriko usually got scared when Ruki was angry and didn't really know how to calm him. The calming effect came actually from her scared reaction since Ruki didn't want to see her like that.

These days, Yuriko manages the situation a bit better. She tries to talk to Ruki in a soothing manner and reason with him. But she also knows, that Ruki is stubborn and doesn't always instantly listen to her reasoning. It might take time to sink in and for him to admit that things can be viewed from a different point of view too.

Still, sometimes things get out of hand which might lead to a bigger fight. Even though it isn't intended for that, Yuriko's tears usually calm Ruki down a bit. The days when he enjoyed making his livestock's eyes teary are long gone (unless it's for happiness or pleasure), so his angel's tears are a clear cue that he has gone too far.

And well... Yuriko has another last resort too. She knows the magic words that can make Ruki reconsider his actions, words, or the situation: "It is my wish that..." 🤭

I probably thought about this too much and too deeply. But that's me, live with it, Anon.

I don't see either of them as a type to rock the Ferris Wheel... and at the same time, they might just do it anyway.

If Yuriko is in a really good mood, she might do this just because. Not to annoy Ruki, but just because she happened to think about it and then does it. Ruki might do it to get a reaction out of Yuriko. But I think it's not a first instinct for them. If it was a date in their early days, they both would be too polite to try that out, I think. Doing something silly like this can only happen when they are relaxed around each other and found their common pace.

But begging for another party to stop?

Hmm... Ruki doesn't beg. End of story.

Yuriko? Oh yes, she will. But not because of something like this.

Instead, Ruki would capture Yuriko in his arms and make her stop.

If Ruki was the one who rocks the Ferris Wheel I can imagine Yuriko giggling for a while. If she got too dizzy because of rocking, she would simply wrap her arms around Ruki's neck and press close, getting his attention and closeness at the same time.

And who knows, maybe that was the goal. Not rocking the Ferris Wheel but making the other take an action~

💙 Ruki and Yuriko both love literature. They yearn for deep conversation over the books they have read or the choice of words in a certain poem. So, it's not uncommon for them to spend time in their library, discussing such matters for hours. This was also one thing that drew them together in the beginning.

💙 They have similar trauma from the past. Ruki's mother left him alone with his father after finding another man. Yuriko's mother left her alone with her father for a different reason; she was trying to save Yuriko's brother from their relatives but the try was unsuccessful, leading to her death. Learning about Yuriko's background has given Ruki a chance to get a different view of his past too. Neither of them is completely healed from the past incidents but they are dealing with them together now.

💙 Family is important for both. Ruki cares deeply for his brothers and is devoted to Karlheinz. While Yuriko's relationship with her father is pained and she never received love from him, she loves her big brother and wants to develop a good relationship with him. Other than that, Yuriko is close to her sister-in-law and adores the Mukami family as well.

Yuriko makes Ruki laugh more. This usually happens when she says something she doesn't even consider funny but it makes Ruki chuckle anyway because he never thought the matter like that. He calls her adorable right after that.

Questions for self ship/OC x canon couples

Where would they go on a 3am adventure?

Hmmm... This isn't surprising but I can't imagine them going to a library at this hour. Of course, most of the libraries are closed at night but, without a doubt, Ruki has his ways to get them in.

They wouldn't do that without a valid reason since Ruki is adamant that Yuriko get enough sleep and sneaking into a place where they aren't supposed to be could get her in trouble. Of course, that's something Ruki wishes to avoid at any cost.

It can be they won't visit a human library and the more supernatural ones can have different opening hours too. So, in that case, they don't necessarily need to slip in without permission but they can visit normally. That doesn't mean they wouldn't find an adventure though.

As any avid reader knows, libraries are full of adventures. So, they would probably absorb themselves into one, Yuriko sitting on Ruki's lap and leaning against his chest.

And well... since they are currently relocating their bedroom in the library of the Mukami manor, I think they don't need to go far to run into their next adventure.

First, I would like to mention that in the beginning of the relationship Yuriko wasn't confident enough to get angry at Ruki. It took her a long time to come out of her shell and be able to admit such feelings towards him.

Then I need say that such a situation happened only once so far.

That one time was when Ruki almost called another woman Livestock. Of course, Yuriko knew right away what Ruki wanted to say in that very moment and got angry. Immediately, he noticed her anger and panicked. Never before had his beloved angel reacted in such a way, which definitely overwhelmed him. Outwardly he tried to stay collected, but inside a turmoil was going on. Angst Yuriko would now leave him spread rapidly. Without thinking further, he apologized and begged her to stay by his side. Before Ruki heard Yuriko's answer to his pleading, he already made a plan in his mind to lock her up forever so that she can't run away. To Ruki's surprise, Yuriko reacted shocked to his words. She explained to him that she wouldn't leave him because of something like that. Relieved about what he just heard, Ruki vowed never to make that mistake again. Both calmed down by each other's reaction and talked about what had happened.

On the whole, it can be seen that Ruki can't handle it when Yuriko is angry at him. His fear of losing her overcomes him and makes him act weirdly. Crazy thoughts of how he can get Yuriko to stay pop up. Once he has regained his composure, however, he prefers an open and honest conversation that proceeds peacefully.

In the early stage of their relationship, Ruki told Yuriko not to touch him if he is having nightmares. Yuriko respected this but she also struggled a lot when she witnessed the time Ruki actually woke up from a nightmare and ran into the bathroom. As she followed, he told her to go back to bed but this time Yuriko didn't obey. Instead, she stayed in the bathroom with Ruki, talking to him with a gentle tone of voice and finally touching him too.

While Ruki didn't want Yuriko to see him in a weak state like that, he secretly felt safe because of her loving actions. Slowly, he started to accept her support and these days, Yuriko stays by his side if the same happens. She is there to talk him out of the whirlpool of feelings and give tender and loving touches to reassure him that everything is okay.

Yuriko doesn't have the same kind of issues with touching if she is having nightmares. As Ruki knows this, he pulls her in the safety of his arms and finally lays down on the bed with her. He holds her against his chest and strokes her gently, telling her there is nothing to be afraid of.

Ruki might ask about details of the dream, though, since he knows that Yuriko can end up in the dreams and nightmares of other people and that the other kitsune might enter hers. What sacrifices do they make for the other?

Neither Ruki nor Yuriko feels like they are sacrificing anything for the other. Sure, their lives have changed after they met each other and they have made some tough decisions, but they don't see those as sacrifices.

Ruki's admin and I really tried to think about this but after talking about it we came to this conclusion.

Ruki has noticed how much Yuriko has changed during their relationship. He loves the fact that she is able to tell her wishes now and also show her fiery side.

Unfortunately, this can cause trouble too. One time, Yuriko was ready to burn Karlheinz for what he had done to Ruki. She didn’t think about her own safety at all and put herself in terrible danger.

Now, Ruki knows that Yuriko can react like that if someone treathens or offends her loved ones, and he is highly displeased of that. He doesn't want to lose Yuriko no matter what.

Yuriko doesn't like how stubborn Ruki is at times. It's difficult to make him change his mind if he has decided something and sometimes he tries to solve everything on his own, not always using the best methods either (for example, dealing with the flirty waiter turned out rather bloody).

However, Yuriko uses soft ways to affect Ruki... and she can be very determined with that now as she has gained more self-confidence in their relationship. Still, she fears that there is always a chance that something pushes Ruki to use his old methods dealing with problems.

Do they cuddle often? Why or why not?

Oh yes, they do. It's rather common for Yuriko to sit on Ruki's lap while they are reading, but they enjoy each others' closeness simply for the sake of it, too. Though, at first, Yuriko was a bit hesitant to touch Ruki, and Ruki tended to caress her mostly while biting. But as their relationship started to develop, cuddling became commonplace. Ruki's back was off-limits for a long time. But he allows Yuriko to trace it gently with her fingertips these days.

Both have physical touch as their love language, so cuddling comes naturally for them. It's their way to show affection and enjoy their time together.
