c i r c l e s
when paths collide,
horizons break
and spill like running
water,
leveed by the
weathered fate
that only time
can offer;
blinding is
the speed of it,
the moment’s
sudden birth,
and unprepared
for such as this,
it stops the
spinning earth.
a gasp of air
and she was there
like morning piercing
west
and in pursuit
of our descent
we met on evening’s
breast.

Underneath the coconuts, Kiss me by the blue lagoon. Under leaves and grassy huts Lie with me. The island moon Ebbs the sea. My little tune Lights the tropic stars above. Evening sways its hips, my love!
idea shamelessly stolen from the marvellous @rudysassafras

Confrontation
An error in the angle of approach
May alter the efficiency of tongue.
Athough at times they seem beyond reproach,
Our words are naught but gales from out our
lungs.
Yet well composed, our words do tactful broach,
As welcome as the light of dawn is young,
The things from which we’re all too wont to hide:
The hearts and minds of those we wish to guide.

“To Hell with Great Things” - a poem written 5/04/2022
#i'm posting another#diana's form#because a lovely follower @rudysassafras has recently taken an interest to this little shape i drew up when i was 15#and actually started writing their own! which is so interesting and kind of inspiring to me bc like. ive just been grinding on my own#this whole time. never seen anyone else do their own interpretation of the form. it makes me feel young#and it reminds me of why i became fond of this one when i was just a young budding formalist poet#2022#poetry#poem#college years#poets on tumblr#trochaic meter#trochaic tetrameter#trochaic trimeter#feminine rhymes#formalist poetry#rhyme scheme#you can read rudysassafras' by searching the /diana's-form tag#i kinda wish i had come up w a more original name but i never did that bc i felt like what would be the point#i was never trying to create a new tradition or anything#but you know if anyone would like to imitate the aaaab ccccb ddddc efef rhyme scheme w the tetrameter/trimeter thing#i'd still love to see it y'know. feel free to tag it or @ me or dm me or whatever

the road allows
once and a while
a breath
free from fumes
and constant threat
of death .
no place exists
out there,
it’s all a lie .
the only truth
is home and
family ties .

They say that love’s narcotic thrall Makes goofy stoners of us all; Like Clinton on the campaign trail I’ve tried it, but did not inhale.

He’s handicapped by his infatuation
Tongue-tied, moonstruck, head-over-heels in love
It is a most peculiar situation
And everywhere he goes, he sees a dove.

d a y d r e a m
you’re a novel
on a summer day
when the afternoon
decides
that the sun is not
becoming,
and so behind the
thunder hides.
you’re a glass where
spirits dwell,
you’re a trellis
for the vine,
you’re the ears in which
the prophets tell
the fate of all mankind.

M a r i e
I lost the weight I had before I loved you
I lost the man I was before I died
I found the borrowed rib that does predate you
I found the will of life when first you sighed
I fought the urge that daring plagued the pilgrim
I fought against the vicious tides of law
In acquiescence did your passion quell him
The acquiescent lover of your gall.
I’m blind to every neighbor, foe and kinsmen
I’m even blind to sun and star and moon
I’ve only eyes for moments that unfold them
And you’re the only one for whom I croon.
I want your morning dust in rays of sun
To whisper sweet enchantments yet to come.

they say that idle hands…
(they talk the livelong day);
but busy hands, my friend
are darkening my day.
i’d like a boat to row,,
a rippling tide of chance;
a little bit of ro
&
a little bit of mance.

G e n t l e
And kiss her for me,
Remember the love,
Upon humid cheek
Wet from above;
The desert-drenched rain,
The motion, the wave
The body laid bare,
The sin and the stain.
And hold her before
The crescent recedes,
Stripping all shadow
Like shore from the sea.
And dance with her once
Like she used to do
And feel the earth move
The way I used to.
And dare she refuse
The song of the spheres
Melt with your soothing
The wax from her ears.
