Do you sell your work or do commisons?? Or do I have to take on a whole new hobby just to attempt to create your beautiful amazing pieces??

Hello! Thanks for the ask and the compliment! 😊💕 I've got both long and short answers for you...

In short, even if it's highly flattering that you would consider purchasing my work, I generally don't sell my work or do commissions. Instead, as you've noted, I would highly recommend you picking up the wonderful hobby of bookbinding! Long answer, with more details, is below the cut

In long, even if I generally don't do commissions/sell my work, I have in the past and depending on the situation I may consider doing a commission (ie, you are an author of a fic and wish to get it bound, or want a journal or non-fanfiction bound). In regards to why I don't do fanfiction anymore without express consent of the author (and even then it's questionable) is that I feel very uncomfortable accepting money based off someone else's work, which they have presented to the public for free, even if all I'm charging for is my work (Not For Sale is also part of Renegade Bindery Guild's code, who I am now a part of; you can read more about gift economies at the website on this subject). As well, I've found in the past when I have done commissions I have not particularly enjoyed the process; fanbinding is a downtime passion hobby of mine, and commercializing it tends to remove the passion and relaxation I get from it (and alas, downtime is something that's been sparse for me). As a result, even if you qualify for the above commissions, then the commission would also have to pique my interest before I would say yes. Also, another hurdle for commissions is that I live in so called Canada, and the price for shipping is astronomical (generally, $60 CAD for a tracked shipping outside of country; inside country is $20, more reasonable), which also makes commissioning books difficult, because it adds an extra hefty fee on-top of what one would be paying me in the first place. That said, if you do still want to inquire, feel free to DM me the details and I will let you know (I'm also a curious buggar, so it intrigues me to know what you would be interested in requesting); but in the end, I would simply highly recommend getting into fanbinding yourself as it is a really lovely and fufilling hobby!

Also, if you are also really enthusiastic about a typeset I've done and would like to use it to create your own fanbinding of the fic, then feel free to DM me personally, and I am generally perfectly willing to provide you a copy of the typeset! Of course, I do request that if you do so, when you use it you recognize the typeset was created by me (ie, leaving a statement in the printed copy), and only use it personally and don't share the file, in case it is used later commercially without my consent. If someone else you know is interested in using the typeset, feel free to forward them to me!

Hello! I'm currently reading Empire of Ice and Stone but was wondering if you had any other book recommendations for the Karluk? Or honestly your favorite books or documentaries about any ships? Thank you so much!

HELLO BELOVED! I'm so glad you're reading about my terrible sons on the Karluk. My two favorite books on the subject are Empire, which you're reading, and The Ice Master by Jennifer Niven. They are both great overviews of the expedition as a whole. I also recommend The Last Voyage of the Karluk by William Laird McKinlay and The Karluk's Last Voyage by Captain Bob Bartlett. They're first hand narratives, so they lack the broad scope of a more general history, but they're both excellent. If you're interested in something shorter, Fred Maurer wrote a series of articles about his experiences for World Magazine, and I can hook you up if you'd like to read them. I do not recommend Vilhjalmur Stefansson's book The Friendly Arctic unless you're looking for something large and heavy to throw against the wall in the hope of making a big hole. He's the absolute worst.

There are some Karluk documentaries out there, and my favorite that is currently available on YouTube can be found here and here! I also have the rescue footage and can hook you up with that as well 😊

Aside from Karluk, I have 2 other favorite ships/expeditions. First up is the British Antarctic Expedition/Terra Nova. There are a lot of incredible books and movies about and inspired by this expedition (including my friend Sarah's, which you should buy and read immediately!), but we would be here all day if I listed them all. To keep things simple, I'll recommend A First Rate Tragedy by Diana Preston as a great starting point. Also, you can watch Herbert Ponting's film The Great White Silence, featuring actual footage of the expedition, free on YouTube!

My other favorite expedition is the Ross Sea Party, which traveled on the Aurora to provide support for the Endurance crew as they attempted to cross the Antarctic continent. Things did not go as planned, and it's an incredibly tragic story (and also why I get pissy when people say that Shackleton never lost a man, but that's a rant for another day!)

The definitive book on the RSP is The Lost Men by Kelly Tyler-Lewis. I am not aware of any great documentaries about them, but I can tell you that if you want to see rescue footage of them, you should check out the bluray of the film South, which features Frank Hurley's footage of the Endurance. Hidden in the bonus features, deep in a sea of menus, you'll find nine minutes of never before seen footage, with a voiceover by Kelly Tyler-Lewis. South is 100% worth your time, but if you're only interested in the RSP footage, I can hook you up with that as well.

Regarding The Uiīoao Language

There are no consonants in Uiīoao. In English, the language is known as Ueioaian. There are five vowels in Uiīoao. The vowels are as follows:

The reasoning behind why the e is written as ī is because in the Bad Apple (a song from the game Touhou) version of this song (see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSp-Wj8tz-s), is because the IPA letter “ɛ” (“e” or “i” in English, or “i” in Filipino / Tagalog) is written as “i,” which is visually indistinguishable from the IPA letter “i,” which in English is “e” or sometimes “i,” more specifically “i” in Tagalog / Filipino.

So, you may ask: Why not write “ī” as “e?” The reasoning behind this is that the letter “e” is not present in the video, but the letter “i” is. To keep this language as faithful to the original video as possible without causing further confusion, the “i” is written as “ī.” To follow up, you may ask: Why create such a pointless language? My answer is: Why the fuck not?

Of course, the “ī” is taken from Hawaiʻian. I spell “Hawaiʻian” like this here because that is the proper spelling, the “ʻ” letter marking a glottal stop in Hawaiʻian. It is certainly true that ī is not pronounced the same way as in Hawaiʻian as in Ueioaian, but the letter looks cool and I need another i. I don’t want to use the ï because even though it looks cool, I wanted to use something less European because everyone is always raving about Europe and I wanted to do something different. This is the same reason I didn’t use “î” from Romanian, even though “î” looks even cooler than the letter I chose, “ī.”

The language is syllabic, much like Filipino / Tagalog, Toki Pona or Japanese, so every time there is a vowel, it becomes a separate syllable. Because every letter is a vowel in Uiīoao, every letter is a new syllable for maximum fun and amusement.

The sentence structure is either SVO or VSO depending on how you feel like speaking at the time. It doesn’t really matter because I honestly don’t give a shit.

oh man... if i were to answer practically, it might be like a black cropped tshirt? good for layering, or for in the summer when it's hot, good with high wasted pants or skirts or leggings or whatever, can be dressed up or down..

if i were to say like which item of clothing i would feel most comfortable in always and forever.. it might have to be this orange-and-brown-striped long sleeve i got in like 2016/7? i tried to find a good photo of it but somehow this is the best i got even tho i wear it so often..

it's thin enough to be cool but also good for layering, and i often wear it under tshirts, like my rock solid panda one (mostly my rsp one if i'm being real), but i do think it would end up killing me over the summer lol it's just suchhhh a comfort shirt and i fr live in fear of the day it dies.

Hi! I was just looking at your blog because I found you through Renegade. I wanted to ask if you're taking commissions, your bookbinding skills are phenomenal, literally gorgeous books.

I have a favorite series of fanfics that I really badly want in a hard copy like a book because I have a fear that something might have happened to the author. It's been almost 5 years since they updated any of their blogs and their email doesn't work anymore either. The fanfics are from their own fanfic sight and I worry the sight might get shut down. Also, the fics are pretty NSFW, but I love them so so much, would you be willing to bind them?

Hello! Thank you so much for the compliment, I'm extremely flattered that you would trust me to make a series of fanfics that are clearly close to your heart. 💕 Unfortunately, I generally don't do commissions, which you can read about here, which also goes over what I would in a very slim chance possibly bind (no worries about NSFW; if you look at the majority of the fics I've bound myself, most of them are NSFW themselves haha).

The worry about censorship or artists just even taking down their art, especially NSFW stuff is certainly a very valid worry; if the fics were on AO3 I would recommend bookmarking and downloading fics that you like (which is what I do periodically; I generally use HTML download, although I believe that's not the best avenue for fics with images). However since it's hosted on their own website, I would recommend to instead manually copy and paste the fanfics into a word (or some sort of text) document so you will have some sort of copy even if the website is taken down, even if it's not a hardcopy.

For a hardcopy, I would highly recommend getting into bookbinding yourself as it's a delightful hobby (there's tonnes of resources through renegade as well) but I understand if that's a daunting prospect that you may not have much time for (even then, I'd highly recommend it!!!). But beyond that, as I say in the link, feel free to dm me the details of the fic and I can make a further decision, but it's highly likely I'll decline. There are a few others who do fanfiction binding and do commissions, who may be able to help you, but unfortunately I don't know people's names. Nevertheless, best of luck to you on getting them as a hardcopy!

Ida and the Seven Sisters: An account of the successful performance of PGM VII. 795-845 and the current results of that operation.

 On Friday February 19, 2021 I performed PGM VII. 795-845 to contact the angel Zizaubio of the Pleiades fixed star constellation for an assignment given to Rune Soup Premium Members going through the RS Angel Magic course.

 3 days prior to the ritual I made a crown out of two strips of black cardstock with 12 bay leaves attached to it - each leaf corresponding to the 12 zodiac signs. Written on each leaf was a Barberous name of the zodiac sign and it’s symbol paired with a sigil found in the Betz version of the PGM.

 I fumigated the crown in frankincense for 2 nights and on the day and time of the ritual fumigated it one last time with frankincense and fennel seeds.

 I recited the script of the ritual and then asked the angels to enter into a pact of benevolence with it such that I learn how to pray to God itself as well as start a relationship with the angel.

 I took the crown off and plucked the lead attributed to Taurus from it and traced Zizaubio’s seal on the back of it in gold ink.

 That night I had the following dream:

Dreamt that I met one of the founders of the company I work for. We were discussing some things that he had planned for the company but some other people were upset about it. 2 women were fired.

 In the last dream, an older black woman was telling me a story about how her sister had this ability to get money from people. All she had to do was tell her dad that someone was bothering her and her dad would write her a letter. She shared an example and she began to narrate one of the letters.

 I was so fascinated by her voice that I told her she should read audiobooks for a living. I told her “some people have the perfect voice for it. I don’t, but you do.”

 And then she walked over to me and played a song in my ear. She was singing. And I was really blown away by the song and she said something like “I’m trying to give this new generation what they need”.

 I was so enamored with this woman that I didn’t want her to leave but she seemed like she was in a rush so as she was leaving I was like “but wait, we need a book from you” because she seemed like she had so much knowledge and wisdom that I wanted to know about her whole life. And as she walked away she walked passed a book on a shelf and she said “there’s already tarot in this one” and then I see the book and realized she had something to do with it.”

 I recorded the dream and shared it with another RSP member. We agreed that contact had been made but I wanted to know the name of this spirit woman that appeared in the dream.

 Another name for the Pleiades is the Seven Sisters so ona hunch, I grabbed my Thoth tarot deck and grabbed the following 7 cards due to their planetary associations: the magus (Mercury) , the priestess (Luna), the empress (Venus), the tower (Mars), Fortune (Jupiter), The Sun (Sol) and The Universe (Saturn).

 I shuffled them, laid them out in the shape of a Heptagon and traced a sigil for the Spirit following the Chaldean planetary order, starting at the Priestess card ending at The Universe card.

 Then I took the Hebrew letters assigned to each card and wrote them out in the same order used to trace the spirit’s Sigil line. The name I came up with was “Gavdarpachath”

 Once I had a name, I played around with some gematria and then shared my results on an RSPM server for the course.

 Another member that had knowledge of Hebrew pointed out some errors that I made and corrected the name to: Gabdarpachot.

 She then told me “Gab” is the title “Miss” for women in Hebrew.

 Then I looked up the word “Dar” and Hebrew. Dar means pearl.

 Pachot has no direct translation from Hebrew to English but the Hebrew letters (peh - mouth, kaph - palm and tav - cross) have interesting allusions.

 We translated the name from Gabdarpachot to “Miss Pearl”.

 A strong feeling of familiarity came over me and I immediate recalled the name of my first baby sitter “Miss Ida” who baby sat me from Kindergarten to Second grade I believe. She died of cancer when I was around 7 years old.

 I remembered that she was also called Pearl but wanted to confirm that. So I called my grandmother who told me that she was indeed called “Pearl” by her relatives. I shared this with the group and we were elated.

 The Sunday following the performance of the ritual I spoke with my ex-wife who’d somehow injured her eye in her sleep. I found this to be quite auspicious so I told a very well versed astrologer friend of mine about the ritual, the results and the thing with my ex-wife’s eye. His response was her eye injury was confirmation that the spirit was making it’s presence known since the eyes, physical and spiritual sight fall under the governance of the Pleiades fixed star constellation. He reassured me that the spirit was not going anything malicious but physical damage to the eyes after working with the Pleiades is not uncommon.

 At this point I it was clear to me and others that significant contact was made and over the next week I had 2 additional dreams that supported my convictions.

 But I was still left wondering how to communicate with the spirit as more importantly, how to verify beyond all doubt that the ritual worked and contact was made.

 So this past weekend, during a practice tarot reading session, I asked another tarot reader to look into this. They’re answers were accurate and corroborated with everything that happened so far. However, the person facilitating the practice session broke out her “Hoodoo Tarot” deck and showed me a card from that deck titled “Miss Ida”.

My mind was completely blown and I immediately ordered the deck. This was even more confirmation that was on the right track and yet I still needed something to remove all doubt and I wasn’t there yet…until last night.

 Last night, I texted my friend and fellow RSP member to tell them about the tarot card reading and the Miss Ida card. I made a post on Facebook asking anyone with that deck to send me a picture of the card. Two people immediately responded with pictures of the card and I sent it to my friend.

 The woman who showed me the card also reached out to me which was strange because it was approximately 2am where lives, she just happened to be awake and she saw my post.

 So I share the dream about Miss Ida with her and she sends me a photo from the book that accompanies the Hoodoo Tarot that goes into the symbolism of the Miss Ida card. The proof to remove all doubt that I have been looking for has been handed to me. 

I believe the next step is to reenact the ritual that is spoken of in this book. Angels are real and magic works.

HISTORY OF MINI COOPER:

     The first Mini was an after effect of a plan challenge in from Sir Leonard Lord, proprietor of the Morris Company, to his top architect, a man named Alec Issigonis, in 1957.

After World War II, the English engine industry was confronting a predicament that may sound natural to Americans today, vehicles had gotten huge and fuel costs had gone far up. Issigonis worked with a little group of architects to build up an answer.

     In 1959 the imprint I Mini was conceived. It was disclosed to press in April 1959 and by August a few thousand vehicles had been assemble prepared for discharge on 26th August 1959.

 By 1960's:

     Until 1962, the vehicles where appeared in North America and France as the Austin 850 and Morris 850, and in Denmark it was the Austin Partner until 1964 and Morris Mascot until 1981.

      It was brought to Australia as Morris 850 in particular, and afterward as Morris Cooper and Morris Cooper S variants, too.

     The Morris name Mini was first utilized for Austin's variant by BMC in 1961. later in 1964, the Mini was fitted with new suspension that gave a gentler ride yet added more weight and a more exorbitant cost - two things Leonard Lord would initially not like to do. Additionally, from October 1965 the choice to choose a four speed programmed gearbox opened up and these vehicles got known as the 'Smaller than normal Matic'.

Tell us more about Jene! You said he's "too old" for Sam. How old is he?

Jene Odio is, like most characters of RSP, mixed. He’s mostly an Angel of Order with a light sprinking of Angel of Justice in there for good measure. He is indeed too old Sam, being that he is a little over 1,000 years old (like 1,013 or something) while Sam is in his literal 20s!! Now in the context of angels and demons, Jene is considered an adult. It’s one of the reasons he lives on the mortal plane; in angelic society adults can choose what plane of existence they want to live on but are free to travel to the others as they see fit (except the Fae plane). Sam was born, and grew up, among mortals and thus his growth rate mimicked a mortal’s but by angelic society he’s literally a toddler. Sometimes Jene is actually really shocked about half of the shit Sam has been up to, but he does make the allowance that Sam’s entire physiology is a cluttered mess. Doesn’t mean he’ll be attracted to what he sees as a kid, but it helped him develop a friendship with Sam rather than just dismiss everything Sam did as childish. Can’t really,,,grow that way,,

Anyway, about Jene Odio personally. At the actual age of ten he lost both of his parents in what is known as The Last Angelic War (obviously there hasn’t been one since then). He was taken in by his uncle and aunt and was raised with his cousin, Anya Grey. Angels of Order typically have a hard time processing anything that isn’t neat and Jene falls hard upon this genetic trait. He didn’t understand other angels and felt like an outsider among Angels of Justice (his uncle) and Angels of Healing (his aunt). He and Anya formed a deep alliance as kids which carried into their adulthood as they both trained under his uncle to become Angelic Knights. But other angels often still took to ridiculing Jene and he developed a deep depression. Anya was determined to help her cousin by any means necessary, so they left the Angelic Plane for the mortalmade Realms, where care for the different was more abundant.
