Colle before the demon war: if anything happens to us, we’re all going to meet again in The World Beyond.
Sharp, chilling completely alone in The World Beyond because Beef probably went to child friendly hell, Professor Red straight up never dies, the Elite Leader was stuck in the catacombs, and Colle went to Alex forever:

hiii can i rq a dylan stevens x soft! fem reader??? like he’s with steve, sam and colby and his gf wanted to tag along but she gets scared super easily
Hi dear! Thank you so much for this request! I have such a soft spot (and crush) for Steve and Dylan and I was so upset to see no fanfics for them. So I decided to take things into my own hands 😂 Hope you enjoy the fic, darling 💌
Tumblr media
Not for the faint of heart
Pairing: Dylan Stevens x Reader (Female)
Warnings: Paranormal Investigations, Swearing
Genre: FLUFF, Comfort, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: see request above
Shaky hands cling onto the sleeve of Dylan's hoodie as the group makes their way through the halls of the abandoned and supposedly haunted hospital. The vibe has been eerie the whole night with bangs, cracks and even footsteps echoing off the walls all too frequently for your comfort.
You're not the biggest fan of the paranormal but, on the other hand, you are the biggest fan of your boyfriend who's made one of your biggest fears his job. Therefore, you've been finding yourself in these creepy places all too often as of recent. It doesn't help that Steve, who's decidedly become an older brother to you since you and Dylan started dating, loves messing with you and scaring you.
Tonight is no different.
A tickle to your side causes you to squeal and jump, seeking comfort by nuzzling further into Dylan's side. Looking over your shoulder, you're both relieved and annoyed to see a grinning Steve.
"You jerk!" You lightly smack his shoulder, making him and the guys laugh, "You almost gave a heart attack!"
An arm wraps around your shoulders, halting your rather ineffective offense attempt. "Alright, alright that's enough, you two. Well, mostly you." Dylan gives Steve an annoyed scolding look, "Quit messing with my girlfriend."
Raising his hands in surrender, Steve lightheartedly apologizes but you meet his words with the most distrustful, narrow-eyed glare which, again, elicits a laugh from him.
Dylan can't help but smile widely at the ridiculous scene in front of him. He remembers how nervous you were to meet his best friend, a thousand thoughts and insecurities running through your head, causing you massive anxiety. All such uncertainties were snuffed out the second you actually met Steve. You had only seen pictures of him up until that point and in each he looked so gloomy and serious. Very no-nonsense, very unlike Dylan or yourself. That's where your hesitation had sprouted from.
The second he'd climbed out of his car, a wide smile contradicted the image of him you had conjured in your head. Him and Dylan were the goofiest duo you'd ever seen and you were so easily sucked into their dynamic that now you've become a trio. Though not so much when it comes to the ghost hunting stuff.
The two sometimes manage to convince you to tag along but most of their attempts are ineffective. This time was the case of the former. Though, to be frank, Sam and Colby played a huge role in getting you to agree.
The five of you have now sat down in what the tour guide had informed you was a sort of makeshift ritual room. Not much gave away that fact if one could casually ignore the huge burn mark in the middle of the floor.
You, however, can't.
"It's said that you can still feel heat emanating from that spot right there." Sam explains to the camera, turning it to film the dark stain in question. "We'll have to check on our own though."
The first to step up to the occasion is Colby, crouching down next to the mark, being extra cautious not to step on it. "Sam, doesn't this remind you of something." He asks, looking up at his best friend whose face contorts from confusion into utter horror within a second.
"Oh my God, you're right! The Sallie house!" The blonde exclaims, his jaw hitting the floor, "Not again, dude!"
The name takes a moment to register in your brain but when you connect it to its respective Sam and Colby video - yes, the only reason you agreed to coming is because you're a huge fan - you too go wide-eyed.
"You wanna sit down in the middle of it again?" Dylan's question only worsens your terror. The fact that Sam doesn't say 'no' right away isn't helping either.
"Don't give him ideas!" You whisper-yell at your boyfriend who just sheepishly smiles at you.
"Don't worry, Y/N, I'm not doing that shit again. Well, unless money is involved, that is." He adds the last part as a joke but that still doesn't stop Steve and Dylan from reaching for their wallets. You quickly smack their hands, their laughter provoking your own.
"Yo! Come check this out! It's fucking crazy!" Colby's voice interrupts, causing you all to look over to him hovering his hand over the blackened concrete, "It feels like holding your hand up to an oven door."
Your friends, unlike you, show no sign of hesitation as they approach Colby, each sticking their hand out in search of proof that they're not being messed with. Seeing their faces morph into a look of absolute disbelief and astonishment, you realize that your fear isn't stronger than your need to confirm it for yourself.
Your friends have stepped a few feet away from the spot by now, allowing you to crouch down and see for yourself. And see, you do.
You snatch your hand back as soon as you'd extended it, quickly getting up to your feet. Your face mimics the other four reactions this bizarre phenomenon provoked from the other people in the room.
Suddenly, a gust of warm air tickling the back of your neck reminds you that you are indeed quite terrified. For just a second though, since you're quick to remind yourself of Steve's antics. You turn around to reprimand him for messing with you again just to realize him, along with Dylan, are a good ten feet away from you, helping Sam and Colby unpack their equipment.
Your rationality goes back to fear in an instant. Your blood runs cold and your eyes fill with tears. The only words that escape your lips are choked yet still somehow high-pitched, "Oh my God!"
Four heads snap in your direction. They drop what they're doing, seeing your distressed state. Dylan jogs over to you, his hands resting on your arms, "What's wrong? What happened?"
Instinctively, you reach up to the back of your neck, touching the goosebumps that have formed on your skin, "It felt like someone was breathing down my neck." You explain, moving your hair out of the way to show your boyfriend, "I-I thought it was Steve..."
"Hey!" The accused argues, now having approached you as well, eyes flooded with worry. "I swear it wasn't me."
You quickly shake your head, "I know! I'm fucking shaking." You mutter, biting your lip as you try controlling your racing heartbeat.
"Did you scratch yourself?" Colby asks, shining the camera light on your skin to make sure he's seeing correctly.
"No, why?" Your eyes blow wide open at the question but you try your best to keep your composure.
Colby's just about to reply, telling you about the red spot that's appeared on the back of your neck when Dylan catches his eye. With a sharp shake of the head he delivers his message loud and clear. "It's nothing, my bad. I was casting a shadow and it looked like a bruise." He says instead, the sigh he receives in response from you confirming that telling you would've been a bad idea.
You stay wrapped in Dylan's embrace while the guys set up their equipment for a session. One of his hands is rested on your back while the other has cupped the back of your head, keeping you to his chest as he whispers reassurances in your hair, periodically interrupting himself to kiss the top of your head.
"It's ok, babe. Nothing's gonna hurt you. Not on my watch." He says, making you giggle.
"What, you're gonna fistfight a ghost?" You ask, pulling away to be able to look him in the eyes.
His kind, adorable eyes you love so much. Especially the creases that appear at their corners when he smiles the way he is now, looking down at you.
"For you? Anytime. I'm military personnel, after all." He proclaims, resting his forehead against yours.
You can't help the blush that creeps onto your cheeks which threaten to start hurting from how widely you're smiling - a side effect of having the cutest goofball as a boyfriend.
"Dork." You chuckle, shaking your head before connecting your lips in a quick kiss.
The moment doesn't last long, curtesy of none other than...
"Get a room you two!"
...of course it's Steve.

I’ve been slowly catching up with Rainbow Quest!
I just finished watching “Saving Rainbow Steve’s Life,” “Ghost Steve’s final Wish,” and “My secret meeting with DARK STEVE”!
The Saving Rainbow Steve’s Life was super cute with Rainbow being so hyper and happy again! And the Ghost Steve’s Final Wish episode had some really interesting lore, and Faceless sounds like an interesting villain! And the episode confirmed that absorbing Steves increases your lifespan, which is honestly scary. I want to know how many Steves tried to cheat death. I wonder if Blue Steves do anything to prevent Steves from absorbing other Steves, since it seems like they’d be the ones governing that stuff.
Also, I know My Secret Meeting with Dark Steve is supposed to be a serious episode, but I died laughing from Sabre angrily matching up to Dark Steve. I also like that Sabre has valid reasons to keep the info he learned to himself, since he doesn’t want Rainbow hurt trying to fight Nightmare. He is still recovering, after all.
Also, Faceless is out...you had ONE job, Rainbow.
I’m really interested to learn if we’ll get more lore on the Great Librarian.

Okay so. Did the steve saga ever explain what Faceless was. Not RQ Faceless. Not Beef. I’m talking OG faceless from 2017 or 2018 or whatever.
Cause like. It was just THERE with Ghost in the catacombs. I remember there being stuff about how Ghost was connected to Faceless or whatever? But then that whole arc got cut short thanks to Nightmare and Elemental scheming like bastards
WHAT IN THE NAME OF GODDAMN ORIGIN IS FACELESS

Reaction to Ghost Steve appearing in RQ way earlier than I anticipated (Discovering Ghost Steve!?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LVTQF3k_J0
Yes, I am very very late to watching this video, lol. Let me live and watch these at my own pace, please ;-;
So Ghost Steve was originally a Red Steve. Hmm, are all the non-Color Steves from SS (Plague, Galaxy, etc.) gonna become variants of the Color Steves in RQ, like Reverse and Ghost? That would create some nice consistency with the lore. It would also be fun to theorize which Steve was originally what of the 7 colors!
(I’m especially excited about the potential theories. I’m hoping RQ!Plague will be originally a Green Steve who merged with a Blue Steve. But I first have to see if Plague will actually show up in RQ.)
I liked that Sabre explained how Ghost Steve can exist when the World Beyond exists. That was a huge thing that bothered me in the Steve Saga, in how the Catacombs/Lost Steves and the Spirit World both existed. Oooooh, does the Spiritless World exist in RQ?
(I should clarify now that I haven’t seen the Ghost Steve episodes from the Steve Saga)
I feel like Sabre missed an opportunity to have Dark and Ghost bond with their crisis of not fitting to a Steve category. That would add to Dark’s character arc and give the audience something new.
I feel meh about the episode. I feel like Sabre added Ghost into the story just for the sake of nostalgia. If we removed Ghost from the episode, the episode would mostly stay the same. It would’ve been cool to see if Ghost and Rainbow Red knew each other, which would give hints to Rainbow Red’s backstory. But rn, it seems like Ghost doesn’t know him.
Just give Ghost some peace, Reverse! He’s a Red Steve. He must be super tired from all the studying he did when he was alive. He deserves the rest!!!

Rewatching "My secret meeting with DARK STEVE” (RQ episode 75)
So, behind the scenes I’ve been planning a rewrite AU of the Reverse Steve episodes in Rainbow Quest. I got most of the planning done, but I’ve been struggling to come up with new ideas. So I decided the best thing to do is rewatch some episodes of the Reverse Steve arc and see if they help, and I’m taking you guys along with me.
For this post, I’m reacting to episode 75: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii-0HvW0kgU
Alright, to recap, these are the events that happened before this episode: Reverse kidnapped Rainbow, and Sabre, having no teleportation powers, teamed up with Dark Steve to find where Reverse is holding Rainbow: the catacombs. Reverse’s lab in the catacombs has disrupted the peace of Ghost Steve, who leads Sabre and Dark to Reverse and Rainbow. However, Dark last minute decides to team up with Reverse, and Reverse depowers Rainbow. Sabre has to bring Rainbow to the Orange Village and out him as Main Orange, so that the Orange Village would support and restore Rainbow’s strength. Wanting to express gratitude for Ghost Steve’s help, Sabre and Rainbow return to the catacombs to help Ghost Steve get rid of Reverse’s lab. Rainbow and Sabre teleport back to Rainbow Hub, but somehow, Sabre takes a quick detour to meet with Dark Steve, and that brings us to this episode!
Now, onto the reactions:
In hindsight, it is freaking hilarious and amazing that Sabre’s going like, “I know you’re here to talk instead of fight, but I am going to refuse to listen because you sided with the enemy and hurt my friend.” Because Sabre is going to experience Steves saying the exact same thing to him after he gets infected with Darkness. Like holy cow, this episode might had been foreshadowing all along!
Anyways, the reason why Dark Steve brought Sabre here is because he’s “learned something no person should learn,” which is the fact that Nightmare Steve is alive. I’m struggling to remember why this reveal is so important.
I have gripes about Reverse arc losing focus, but this episode did add to the “hiding the truth so that morale doesn’t stop” idea that this arc and RQ in general had going on.
Sabre had struggled and failed to keep the secret that Rainbow Steve is Main Orange to prevent Steves from doubting them. Now, he knows that Nightmare is alive and refuses to tell Rainbow because he knows Rainbow’s unprepared to fight Nightmare. And secrets that create fear and urgency are more powerful than secrets that create doubt and hesitance.
I don’t remember if RQ followed up with Sabre keeping Nightmare a secret, but I still remember how disappointed I felt about how RQ handled Sabre keeping Rainbow’s identity a secret. I just hope that the Demon Steve arc brings this “hide the truth or reveal the truth to affect moral” idea to the next level, once I get to that part.
Also, with Darkness being a hivemind, I’m really curious on why Dark Steve doesn’t seem to be in the “know.” Dark Steve had to take time to learn that Nightmare is still alive, even though the Darkness in the Void knew that fact.
Also in hindsight, it’s amusing that Nightmare is depicted as the scariest guy in the universe, lol. Is there a reason why Dark doesn’t seem to know about Void? The joys of being an out-of-touch viewer.

Note
Plague Steve has been done so incedibly dirty over the years that I honestly feel like we need a Plague Steve appreciation day. He doesn't deserve to live in COVID's shadow.
I binge-watched a good amount of RQ and got through the Faceless arc. When I heard that Among Us reference in the Faceless debut episode, I felt a bit sad, knowing that 2020 did pave Faceless back into RQ for the necessary Among Us meme but also made Plague feel inappropriate to use. It’s strange to have Ghost and Faceless back in RQ but not Plague.
I understand why some people don’t want to joke about the pandemic, which is probably why Plague “disappeared.” But I don’t see Plague as a “covid meme” or a “covid personification” or as an edgy statement about something. I see him as his own character, who just happens to have “plague” in his name. It’s probably my nostalgia making me biased, because I got invested in the Steve Saga when Plague was current villain (though he was an ally at first).
I just miss him. I don’t think he needs an appreciation day. But I’ll still root for the chance that he’ll return, possibly as a corrupted or alternative Green Steve in Rainbow Quest. If people really don’t want him to be accused of representing covid, he can be revamped to be some plague-doctor-esque character instead of a character who commits biological warfare (which isn’t even remotely related to the pandemic anyways!). Or maybe he can be used as a warning to those who don’t take threats against their health or their community’s health seriously.

Reaction to RQ!Reverse episodes (Librarian, Nightmare’s Return, Sandwich Boi’s brief moment of glory, Chaos vs Ultra)
First of all.........wow.
...I have many negative feelings about these episodes.
Ok. These episodes.
It’s all RUINED, Can I fix it? Can Chaos Steve be STOPPED? I’ll find out IMPORTANT tips on how to STOP the DARKNESS 1 reason NIGHTMARE STEVE is still ALIVE This is how Nightmare Steve TRICKED me! Mysterious Figure CONFRONTS Nightmare Steve TRAPPING Chaos Steve and STEALING his power! I created ULTRA STEVE, and you won’t believe this but... WOW...Ultra Steve did THIS to Chaos Steve Why would Dark Steve BEG Rainbow Steve for THIS? This Steve actually RETURNED!! NO WAY! The ONLY way to defeat the ULTIMATE Steve in Minecraft How to make a PORTAL to the VOID! Reverse Steve finally LOST IT
14 episodes. 14 episodes total after the Faceless arc to finally deal with Reverse Steve.
Compared to how long the arcs in the Steve Saga are, 14 episodes seems like a short, clean amount of plot advancement.
But while I was bingewatching these episodes, it didn’t feel like 14 episodes of story to me. It felt like....chaos.
The plot in these episodes is really jarring to me because it was doing WAY too much in a SMALL amount of time. And most of the plot was the heroes reacting, rather than being proactive. And I...didn’t like it.
Let me explain:
So, the Steve Saga did a “Villain of the Week” format. Where one (1) villain is introduced and dealt with, and then the next villain is introduced. It was repetitive, but easy to follow.
Examples from the Steve Saga: Dark was a threat. Dealt with. Shadow was a threat. Dealt with. Nightmare was a HUGE threat and Shadow and Dark were added, but it worked because we know who Dark and Shadow are. Dealt with. Then Reverse, then Positive/Negative/Infinity, then Plague, then Faceless, and so on.
Rainbow Quest doesn’t follow that formula. It’s connecting all of its villains into one arc, where one villain is naturally the consequence of another villain.
Rainbow Quest Season 1 mainly set up the villains, the main plot, and a sequel hook. This is unlike the Steve Saga because while the villains just spawned into the story line, Rainbow Quest is showing us the rise of the villains. We know Nightmare’s origins, Dark’s origins, and Reverse’s origins, and they were all spaced out and connected to the main plot (getting the crystals) well.
We had Nightmare as an antagonist, or an obstacle in the main plot (finding the 7 crystals while saving Steves from doom), and his actions created Dark Steve. That worked. And since Rainbow Red was established early in the series and had little cameos before his transformation to Reverse Steve, that helped set up the sequel hook for Season 2. That also worked. imo, the format RQ Season 1 uses is a lot better than TSS’s formula; it’s less repetitive so it feels fresher to long-time viewers, and it connects to the overarching plot well.
But Rainbow Quest S2 didn’t follow the format S1 used.
While Season 1 has a good balance between main plot (finding the crystals) and subplots (setting up villains and future story), Season 2 had WAY too much and an unbalanced amount of subplots. S2′s subplots TOOK OVER the main plot.
What even is the main plot of S2? Well, based on the first episode where we heard Rainbow’s voice, I think the audience was expecting the main plot to be Rainbow Steve saving Steves and adjusting to becoming the new hero and keeping his identity secret to boost morale, while Reverse (later Chaos) will be the main villain.
We were supposed to see Rainbow and Sabre go from color to color to help everyone defend against the Darkness and restore hope.
But then that got hijacked by Reverse, who drained all of Rainbow’s powers and forced him to be saved by the Orange Steves, outing him as being Main Orange reincarnated as the hero.
Rainbow and Sabre haven’t even saved anyone yet at this point. They just went to the Yellow Steves to receive Light’s training and the Orange Steves to see that they’re doing well.
The beginning of the season made a huge deal of keeping Rainbow’s true identity a secret. It was going to be part of his character development about responsibility, bravery, and being someone else. But S2 just did a speedrun of that character arc because he was immediately outed, and the Orange Steves were ok with the truth. So why was there so much stress on Rainbow’s secret when it wasn’t going to impact the plot anyways??
Anyways, then they did their side quest of helping Ghost Steve (which was a valid thing to do), which led to the Faceless sideplot. And immediately after Faceless’ defeat (with hints of Void’s debut), Reverse and Dark just came in and destroyed everything. Not even a moment to breathe. They just caught Rainbow and Sabre off guard. This makes these two look easily distracted. They should had done better to prepare for Reverse and Dark (especially since they asked Leader to help increase defenses in the Rainbow Hub).
Like, there’s a difference between struggling with your new responsibilities as a hero and being just completely uncapable, and it felt like Sabre and Rainbow were the latter.
And finally, for once, Sabre did something proactive and found Light Steve, bringing him to the library to get help. But they got side tracked and decided to go investigate Nightmare’s “death”. But was that even relevant to rescuing Rainbow?
And then they went to the Void (proactive), but they were just pushed around, given a villain monologue by Nightmare until Galaxy saved them (reactive, deus ex machima)
Basically.....S2 sacrificed its main plot of having Orange adjust to being Rainbow in favor of all of these subplots that were made to set up the third season (which will probably be about Void Steve), and I dislike this approach. It makes S2 feel chaotic and unfocused. It felt like the heroes accomplished nothing. It seemed like things were handed to them too easily (help from Ghost Steve, the Orange Steves, and Galaxy), or they were completely unprepared and not suitable to be heroes (not even getting a chance to save Steves and fight villains until later).
And worst of all, this arc just made the heroes look reactive, bending to the will of the villains. We didn’t get a good story of Rainbow learning how to adjust to his new life as the hero. We didn’t get a story of Rainbow learning how to be brave. Instead, we got a story of villains always having the upperhand and the heroes looking silly trying to stop them last minute. And a bunch of events/subplots that weren’t even connected well together.
It’s just really hectic.
And it’s a shame. Because the content IS good. But the way the season was structured and what it chose to focus on...just ruined the story.
So....yeah.
I really disliked the Reverse Steve arc. The Void and Galaxy arc better make up for it, so I can forgive its setup for ruining the Reverse Steve arc.
Disclaimer: I’m aware that the Void Steve arc isn’t the third season, but another part of the second season. Keep in mind that these reaction posts are just my initial reactions and opinions and me explaining them. Rn I’m behind on Rainbow Quest and trying to record my genuine first reactions as I binge-watch this stuff. Overall, these posts aren’t meant to be about facts or theorizing what the future episodes will be about, but me just discussing my thoughts on these episodes as they are (and people are of course welcomed to join the discussion regardless of their opinions). Just wanna clarify in case anyone is confused XD
