My own for fun fleshing out of the idea posited by Jonathan Morris that the other voices Xoanon adopts in the Face of Evil are forgotten incarnations plucked from the Doctor's subconscious.
Specifically played by Pamela Salem, Rob Edwards, Anthony Frieze and Roy Herrick.
The First Xoanon Doctor (Pamela Salem)
This incarnation was posted on Earth by her request, as part of the Time Lords solidifying of the Web of Time as history, arriving in the era of the First World War. Upbeat and playful, she had a knack for outmanoeuvring her opponents even in spite of the cultural pushback against the form this incarnation took. She also often came across as anachronistic due to a lack of understanding of the culture of the era of this planet that she was assigned to. She, however, was occasionally prone to seeing humans more as interesting specimens than individuals in their own right.
The Second Xoanon Doctor (Rob Edwards)
Coming across as an eccentric but kindly Professor-like figure, wearing a scruffier version of a formal outfit. This incarnation took up teaching on Earth. He was heavily interested in the idea of luck as an external force and wore a clover on his lapel to represent that. He was prone to meddling in events outside his purview, but only subtly, within his remit as an agent of the Time Lords and thus often employed luck or what appeared to be luck as a ‘weapon’ of sorts in said situations, despite his pleasant exterior he was capable of doing almost anything if he thought it would benefit the ‘greater good’. He was the first incarnation to meet the Abbot.
The Third Xoanon Doctor (Anthony Frieze)
This incarnation lived for a long time, aging up from a child to an adult. He spent a lot of his time on Gallifrey, getting involved in the internal politics of the planet as an advocate for the Non-Intervention policy. He regretted the meddling his immediate predecessor was prone to, though he still returned to Earth to observe the planet and would occasionally intervene if he found a situation significant enough to warrant it. He was brash and abrasive, and had a superiority complex, but still was a kind-hearted person when the chips were down. He met his end in service to Gallifrey in the midst of a Time War.
The Fourth Xoanon Doctor (Roy Herrick)
A calmer, younger, mellower incarnation. This Doctor prided himself on his moral compass, whilst he still acted as an agent for the Time Lords, he treated the role as secondary to his interest in the planet Earth and its people. He was granted an official remit to travel across the Universe, rather than just the history of the planet he was observing, as a result of a great service to Gallifrey during his early life. He was also one of few early incarnations of the Doctor who contemplated any form of relationship with a human, though he ultimately never went through with it. Despite this, he still maintained a wide social network in the era to which he was assigned.
(Did an amateur artwork, also including headcanons for the 'eras' under the assumption of them directly preceding the Morbius Doctors from Forgotten Lives)

Official Report on The Intransitionalist Chronotopologies of Kenji Siratori (TRS 109)

YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE INEFFABLE FOREST
youtube
Official Report on The Intransitionalist Chronotopologies of Kenji Siratori: Appendix 8.2.3 is a xenopoetic data/dada anthology that documents the activities of the artist collective The Ministry of Transrational Research into Anastrophic Manifolds. The anthology results from an experimental approach to impersonal literary composition. Similar to surrealist definitions, but on the scale of a technical document, members of the Ministry—poets, musicians, novelists, painters, curators, artists, scientists, philosophers, and physicians—were asked to offer a microfiction, poem, essay, fictional citation, or computer code, in the form of a footnote or annotation to a glitch-generated novel by iconoclastic Japanese artist Kenji Siratori; however, each participant wrote their contribution without any access to or knowledge about the nature of Siratori’s source text. After collecting the contributions, the “footnotes” were each algorithmically linked to an arbitrary word from Siratori’s novel. The result is a work of xenopoetic emergence: a beautifully absurd, alien document scintillating with strange potency. Bringing together algorithmically and AI-generated electronic literature with analogue collage and traditional modes of literary composition, the Ministry refuses to commit solely to digital, automated, or analogue art and instead seeks technological mutualism and a radically alien future for the arts. Accompanied by a groundbreaking original score by electro-acoustic duo Wormwood, the anthology offers the radical defamiliarization and weird worlds of science fiction, but now the strangeness bites back on the level form. Readers should expect to discover strange portals from which new ways of thinking, feeling, and being emerge. A conceptual and experimental anthology, Official Report on The Intransitionalist Chronotopologies of Kenji Siratori inaugurates collective xenopoetic writing and the conceit that the future of art will consist of impersonal acts of material emergence, not personal expression. Consume with caution.

Cryptober Day 4: Jackalope.
Tumblr media
This famous North American cryptid is described as a jackrabbit with antelope/pronghorn horns or deer antlers. Legends of the Jackalope date back to the Old West, specifically in the town of Douglas, Wyoming which has declared itself to be the Jackalope capital of America. According to legend, the first Jackalope was spotted there around 1829. A large statue of a Jackalope stands in the town center, and every year the town will host Jackalope Day, which is usually held in June. Jackalope hunting licenses can be obtained from the Douglas Chamber of Commerce, though the hunting of Jackalopes is restricted to the hours of 12:00am to 2:00am on June 31. Today, however, it is said that the most likely place to see a Jackalope is in Colorado.
The first of many mounted Jackalope heads to come was created by Douglas Herrick himself, which was then sold to Roy Ball for $10. He proudly installed it in the town's Bonte Hotel, but it was unfortunately stolen in 1977.
As fun as it is to imagine that these antlered bunbuns may actually be real, the most logical of explanation for any possible Jackalope sighting is that it is actually a rabbit infected with the Shope Papilloma virus, which causes the growth of horn and antler-like tumors in various places on the rabbit’s head and body. This can occur in cottontail rabbits under natural conditions and in domestic rabbits under experimental conditions.
Also side note about my drawing in particular, my dumb ass didn't even realize until AFTER I was finished just how different jackrabbits are from domesticated rabbit. Those things get HUGE. So yeah, my Jackalope looks more akin to a pet bunny with subtle jackrabbit features, but hey at least he's cute. 🐰

PLUTARCH
The Greek biographer, historian, essayist, and moralist Plutarch (ca. 46-ca. 120) has been described as one of the most influential writers who ever lived.
Paradoxically, Plutarch the man who was the biographer of many others, had no biographer except for a scant notice in Suidas. What we know of his life is reconstructed from casual references in his own works. Plutarch was apparently born of a wealthy family in Chaeronia in Boeotia, had two brothers, Timon and Lamprias, and a grandfather named Lamprias. His parents' names are uncertain. Some say his father's name was Autobulus, some say Nicarchus, and we do know of a great-grandfather named Nicarchus. Plutarch is believed to have had a liberal education at Athens, where he studied physics, rhetoric, mathematics, medicine, natural science, philosophy, Greek, and Latin literature in 66. Ammonius of Lamptrae, a Plato scholar with religious and Neoplatonic interests, may have been his tutor. To complete his education, Plutarch traveled extensively in Greece and Asia Minor and visited Alexandria, Egypt.
Plutarch married Timoxena, daughter of Alexion (ca. 68), who bore him four sons, Soclarus, Chairon, Autobulus, and Plutarchus, and one daughter, Timoxena. Only Autobulus and Plutarchus survived Plutarch. All evidence indicates a happy marriage and a close family. Other relatives by marriage mentioned as members of the family in the Moralia are Craton, Firmus, and Patrocleas.
Plutarch taught in Chaeronia and represented his people before the Roman governor and in Rome. In Rome he made important contacts and lectured on philosophy and ethics in various parts of Italy. He spent much time in Italy between 75 and 90; he apparently never mastered the Latin language, though he gained the friendship of notable Romans. The latter half of his life, Plutarch enjoyed the intellectual benefits of the Pax Romana, mostly in Chaeronia. He held many civic positions, both high and low; the most notable one—that of head priest of Delphi—he held with distinction for 20 years and elevated to an importance it had not had in his time. During the latter part of his life he is thought to have written most of the Lives and some portions of the Moralia.
His Works
Plutarch is perhaps best known for the Moralia and the Lives, works which have much in common and have had enormous influence on later writers and the literatures of Europe and even America. He was very much concerned with men's moral conduct and individual moral guidance in an age when men were losing their faith in religion and philosophy. The Moralia, written as dialogues, letters, and lectures, is really a collection of 83 treatises on diverse subjects such as vegetarianism; superstition; Epicurean, Stoic, and Academic philosophy; dietetics; divine justice; prophecy; demonology; conjugal relations; family life; mysticism; and helpful precepts.
The Lives (often called Parallel Lives) are biographies of soldiers and statesmen of repute, generally presented in pairs of lives, first a Greek, then a Roman, followed by a comparison. Twenty-three of these have survived and four single lives; that is, four comparisons are lacking. There is no detailed chronology, but the Lives were probably published between 105 and 115. Plutarch utilizes Greek sources primarily and is interested in providing pleasure and guidance for moral and political behavior. Plutarch's language is generally lucid and crisp.
Plutarch was not a profound philosopher but a popularizer in the best and most enduring sense of the word. He did not establish a philosophic system but was eclectic in his use of various systems. He warmly admired Plato and knew Pythagoras and other Greek philosophers. He severely criticized Epicureanism and stoicism but used these systems as it suited him. One critic finds him a humanist par excellence; others see him inclined toward mysticism and monotheism. He was an author of uncommon common sense who influenced Sir Philip Sidney, Edmund Spenser, Ben Jonson, William Shakespeare, John Dryden, John Milton, Robert Herrick, George Chapman, Jonathan Swift, Walter Savage Landor, William Wordsworth, Robert Browning, Mary Shelley, and H.G. Wells in England; Ralph Waldo Emerson and Herman Melville in the United States; J.W. von Goethe and Friedrich von Schiller in Germany; and French drama of the late 16th and the entire 17th century. Sir Thomas North's English translation of the Lives (1579) provided Shakespeare with the sources for three plays, and it was the translation (1559) by Frenchman Jacques Myot that made Plutarch available to North and through North to the English-speaking world Plutarch and His Times (1967). C. J. Gianakaris, Plutarch (1970), is a convenient synthesis and appraisal which contains an extensive bibliography. A work on Plutarch's moral interests is George D. Hadzsits, Prolegomena to a Study of the Ethical Ideal of Plutarch and of the Greeks of the First Century A.D. (1906); and on religion, John Oakesmith, The religion of Plutarch (1902).
Special studies provide powerful evidence of Plutarch's widespread influence: Friderick Morgan Padelford, trans. and ed., Essays on the Study and Use of Poetry by P. and Basil the Great (1902); Roy Caston Flickinger, Plutarch as a Source of information on the Greek Theater (1904); Charles Friderick Tucker Brooke, ed., Shakespeare's Plutarch (2 vols., 1909; Roger Miller Jones, the Platonism of Plutarch (1916); and Terence John Bew Spencer, ed., Shakespeare's Plutarch (1946).
Recommended surveys of classical historiography which include discussions of Plutarch are Michael Grant, The Ancient Historians (1970), and Stephen Usher, The Historians of Greece and Rome (1970).
•All attempts to bribe him were unsuccessful, and Pyrrhus is said to have been so impressed that he released the prisoners without ransom (Plutarch, Pyrrhus, 18).
•38; Plutarch, Theseus, Pausanias I.
•When the third sacrifice came round Theseus volunteered to go, and with the help of Ariadne slew the Minotaur (Plutarch, Theseus, 15-19; Diod.
•She was to a considerable extent selftaught; and her love of reading made her acquainted first with Plutarch- a passion for which author she continued to cheris throughout her life- therafter with Bossuet, Massilon, and authors of a like stamp, and finnaly with Montesquieu, Voltaire and Jean Jacques Rousseau.
•63; Plutarch, Cimon, 16, but this story must be regarded as at least doubtfull.

On Jackalopes
I’m prefacing this with I’ve drunk like half a bottle of Hornitos Plata and my face numb.....so yeah also desktop no autocorrect which is either gonna be great or a fuckin nightmare. we will see...i feel like eye emojis should be here
JACKALOPES
if you know me you know  i fuckin love Jackalopes. like if i had a choice between abandoning my flesh prison to become an eldritch jackalope that drinks tequila and mimics voices and almost anything else (look Absolute Mapping would win im sorry ask me about it at some point) id take the ELDRITCH JACKALOPE option 9 times outta 10.
ok so the original mythology states that Jackalopes drink whiskey not tequila but honestly i cant really do whiskey. Tequila with some salt and lime though? i can do. With a coke chaser. look the only shots i can do without a chaser are Liquid Cocaine shots and Pink Starburst shots.
anywho JACKALOPES
So the name Jackalope actually comes from the combination of the words Jackrabbit and Antelope. So all those taxidermy's with the rabbit with deer antlers (including the original taxidermy) are wrong by names sake. Y’all ever seen a Jackrabbit? ok so technically a Jackrabbit is actually referring to a hare and usually one of the three following species.
Black-Tailed Jackrabbit
Tumblr media
White-Tailed Jackrabbit
Tumblr media
or the Snowshoe Hare
Tumblr media
All three are weird lookin adorable fucks.
also Antelope in this case is referring to the American Pronghorn (Antilocapra Americana)
Tumblr media
Look at that fancy dusty ass thick horn buck
Ok so now that y’all have pictures on what the hybrid should actually look like we can move on in this American Fearsome Creature (Critter) information
So stories and descriptions of animal hybrids appear all over the world in historic times. There's a 13th century Persian work that depicts a rabbit with a single horn like a bouncy bunny unicorn. There is also the Wolpertinger (lmao i read that as Wolf-Tiger and WolperTinder can you even imagine a fantasy Tinder? like how crazy that would be) which is like a Jackalope but with fangs and wings. the Rabbit Avian Platypus if you will. as some Wolpertinger have duck bills. So here is the deal. Old school natural history texts have horned hares in them as if they are real creatures but by the end of the 18th century scientists generally rejected the idea of them as a biological species.
More likely what was happening was that early biologists were stumbling upon rabbits and hares with Shope Papilloma Virus (SPV), also known as Cottontail Rabbit Papilloma Virus (CRPV) or Kappapapillomavirus 2. this papillomavirus infects certain leporids, causing keratinous carcinomas resembling horns, typically on or near the animals head. Unfortunately  the carcinomas can become large enough to interfere with the host’s ability to eat, causing starvation.
However we are talking about the American Jackalope here.
Now, the New York Times attributes the American Jackalope’s origin to Douglas Herrick (1920-2003) of Douglas, Wyoming. Herrick and his brother had studied taxidermy by mail order as teens, and the idea of the Jackalope was sparked when after a hunting trip for jackrabbits one of the carcasses came to rest next to a pair of deer antlers in a taxidermy store.
The first jackalope the brothers put together was sold for $10 (about $150 in 2018) to Roy Ball who displayed it in the Douglas’ La Bonte Hotel until it was stolen in 1977. The mounted head was such a successful popular attraction that the Chamber of Commerce started issuing Jackalope Hunting Licenses to tourists. The official jackalope hunting season only occurs for one day: June 31st, a nonexistent date as June only has 30 days.
ANYWAYS
the Jackalope is subject to many outlandish claims such as the following
1. Jackalopes are said to be so dangerous that hunters are advised to wear stovepipes on their legs to avoid being gored.
2. One of the ways to catch/trap a Jackalope is to offer it Whiskey, the Jackalope’s beverage of choice.
3. The Jackalope can mimic human voices, and according to legend during the days of the Old West cowboys would hear local Jackalopes join their campfire sing-a-longs as a tenor.
4. Jackalopes are said to only breed during lightning flashes and that their antlers make the act difficult despite the hare’s reputation for fertility.
Ok well I feel mildly nauseous now so imma wrap this up
I love Jackalopes
from historic illustrations of similar creatures including the Wolpertinger and the Skvader to the hilarious postcards showing cowboys riding Giant Jackalopes i just find them real neat.
love y’all

Are there any cryptids you think are 100% made up for publicity?
Oh yes, definitely. For example: The Jackalope. Well, in a sense. The Douglas Jackalope was. The Douglas Jackalope was a creation by Douglas Herrick who lived in Douglas, Wyoming. He had just returned from jackrabbit hunting with his brother and tossed a carcass to the side, where it had landed between a set of deer antlers. He crafted a Jackalope and the first one was sold to a man named Roy Ball who displayed it in Douglas’ La Bonte Hotel in 1932.
In another sense, not the Jackalope at all - because there have been sightings of horned hares for centuries.

Hines Lumber Company and Greater Burns, Burns ORE. Heck Photo
From the City of Hines History page entitled  Our Town - A History Of The City of Hines
“Stafford, Derbes and Roy, realtors from Mississippi who had developed homes in Longview, Washington, Bend and Klamath Falls, Oregon, were hired to developed the "greater Burns Sub-division" - later to be known as Hines.”
From the Oregon Encyclopedia article entitled Company Towns.
“In eastern Oregon, the Edward Hines Lumber Company was major player in developing lumbering in the twentieth century. The Midwest company expanded its operations into Oregon in the late 1920s and by mid-century had acquired a number of timber holdings as well as several established Oregon lumber towns, including Seneca, Dee (Hood River County), and Westfir (Lane County). The company town of Hines in Harney County began with an aborted sale of U.S. Forest Service land to Fred Herrick, contingent on Herrick building a fifty-mile rail line from Burns to Seneca. In 1928, with Herrick’s forfeiture of the land, the Forest Service resold the timber to the Edward Hines Lumber Company, which began building a mill and a town. The planner and development firm of Stafford, Derbes & Roy was hired to create the new community of Hines, acquiring 2,000 acres to prevent opportunistic building by private speculators. The town took the shape of a large oval, bisected by U.S. 20 and a major cross street, with the high school placed at the northern terminus of the cross street. The innermost central four quadrants were set aside for parkland, to be surrounded by the major public and commercial buildings facing inward on Circle Drive. An initial 150 residences were designed, reportedly with the assistance of Hines's wife Loretta, who insisted that 68 individual house plans be created to avoid “cookie cutter” monotony. South of the town center was the Hines mill itself, which boasted a huge timber-framed enclosed workroom more than 2,300 feet long. Facing U.S. 20 at the southern end of the mill complex is the Georgian Colonial-style administration building. Once the Depression hit, construction on the concrete-framed Ponderosa Hotel halted, and the unfinished and mostly empty concrete building remains a striking feature of Hines.”
