Henry was silent as she entered, surprised by the likeness to the portrait he’d been shown upon his first meeting with her parents. He’d remembered their open arms, their well wishes because of the family deaths. His lips quivered, as though about to move into a smile but instead he pursed them tightly, his eyes narrowing. 

“Hello...” even before the word had left his mouth the hesitation betrayed him. But August Gladstone wouldn’t cower, then again what would he know of the dead man? “Miss Helston” he kneeled his head but couldn’t help but keep his eyes on her, taking in every every inch of her features. Henry wondered what might be passing through Aurelia’s mind. Would she be fearful of the stranger in her home? Would Gladstone have been nervous? Would they have grown close? 

He pulled his hands back, clasping them together at the base of his back, the clothes he had acquired were ill fitting, Sir Helston had demanded Henry allow him to purchase him a new wardrobe, much to the imposters dismay. It felt uncomfortable...to be housed by the Navy, clothing being paid for by his step-father. He had left his life behind to live without worry, and now it was all that surrounded him. 

“It is a pleasure to finally meet you...I know this has been an odd arrangement but I hope this union can bring us both much joy” he couldn’t be sure if such a declaration were appropriate but he was sure the enthusiasm for Aurelia would give her family some relief.

𝓘𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓫𝓮𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰...

Henry stood in the study of the Helston home, eyes closed as he awaited the arrival of Lt. Gladstone’s...his...fiance. Her father had shown him many portraits of the woman, anything to showcase her beauty. It had begun to hit him that he hadn’t entirely prepared himself for the situation at hand. When he’d found the warn down letters in Gladstone’s jacket he had thought that it was an arrangement that could be changed but visiting as an attempt to prove August was still amongst the living it seemed futile to argue the marriage.

He cleared his throat, bringing a hand to his collar and adjusting it slightly.

There was movement from above the study and Henry looked up before drawing his gaze to Alexander Helston who seemed unbothered. He was used to the creaking of an old ship but hearing footsteps so clearly, without the crashing of waves or yelling on the bow made him uncomfortable. Whatever life he had lived before was over. At least until he could leave with some fortune, make it worth the trip away from sea. 

“I’m sure she will be down shortly” Lord Helston said, a weak attempt at reassurance. The couple sitting before him spoke highly of their daughter. Trained for society it felt too good to be true and Henry wondered if August had hoped for a wife like that. He wondered much about the man, but few knew of him besides by name. He had devoted so much of his life to the navy, it was hard to catch him. Henry was terribly happy he hadn’t been seen by anyone but the men on his vessel, his family (deceased, god rest their souls) and a few men who had long since passed.

A pirate takes on the identity of a famous navy men after he’s lost at sea, little did he know he was engaged to be married to a young woman.Now the pirate must get married under the guise of a different identity, but it seems the young woman is more to his liking then he would have thought and somehow he manages to settle down. That is, until the person he’s been impersonating turns about alive…with an awfully interesting story to tell.

𝓐.𝓗. 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵𝓵𝔂 𝓛𝓲𝓴𝓮𝓼 𝓟𝓲𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓼

A collection of plots (my own write-ups and others) inspired by adventures on the high sea & dirty pirate babes.

𝟘𝟙. Heading across the Atlantic to join her father, the Governor, in the Caribbean (or wherever I actually don’t care), the young woman’s ship is attacked by pirates and plundered for all it’s worthy goods - including her. The Pirate Captain takes her on board as a valuable bargaining chip he can use the next time he encounters the British Navy. As she stays on board, she becomes more and more ingratiated with the crew - especially the Pirate Captain, to the point where she no longer knows if she even wants to return home. (𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘸𝘯)

𝟘𝟚. 𝟘𝟛. A young woman joins her father on a ship to cross to their new home, unfortunately due to the nature of the ship they are traveling on there are prisoners aboard the vessel. One, a famous Pirate Captain (known for his many conquests), is going to be hanged when they reach their destination. Half way there, a storm hits sending the ship into the depths but the Captain escapes and soon finds himself stranded on a small island with none other than the young woman who had been stowed away in the captains cabin. The two are immediately at odds, one used to the rugged terrain and the other dragging a heavy dress and a bad attitude. But soon the two must work together to survive, with only a small stash of items from the ship, there’s more than sharks to be weary of in these waters.

𝟘𝟜. Turns out, the life as a governess isn’t as thrilling as you’d expect. A young woman frustrated by the life she’s lived so far runs away, dressing as a young man and joining the crew of a trading vessel. Eventually the vessel is overrun by pirates and the young woman, still under the guise of a deckhand is forced to join the new crew. For a while, all is well until the captain takes “him” under their wing, naturally of course this means being the human punching bag and basically just his assistant. Unfortunately for the Captain, his deckhand isn’t just any deckhand and soon enough he discovers that “he” is not all he appears to be. Soon their identity is revealed, but the Captain is somehow understanding though that sort of secret is hard to keep. Soon the pair grow closer together, but a woman on board creates more problems then they might suspect & the young woman’s father has set his sights on a pirate strong hold to retrieve his daughter.

𝟘𝟝. Rich boy goes on the hunt for a legendary pirate king and finds out that not only is this pirate king their age…she’s also a queen. — I do like this if not entirely for the idea of a more even age pairing, and I love a rich boy toy being dragged around by a badass babe.

𝟘𝟞. It has been many years since the disappearance of Muse A’s sister but Muse A has never given up hope. After a night on the town, she happens upon a lead that will change her life forever…her sister is aboard a ship headed for warmer shores. Not wanting to let her sister be hurt more than she already has, Muse A hires Muse B to bring them to a pirates den in order to intercept their sister. Only problem is, when they arrive…their sister is fine, in fact she’s taken over the ship that supposedly kidnapped her. Muse A feels betrayed, and while they are happy their sibling is alive…they’re now half way across the world with only Muse B to keep them safe. (Would love to use Eloise Smyth for this one, since Rosamund Pike would be a fabulous pirate sister).
