If there’s one glowing thing I can say about Lies of P, it’s that it commits… and it commits hard.

Standing out from the teeming hive of Soulslikes is difficult, with a seemingly endless line of games emulating From Software’s landmark series. Lies of P took a bold approach by baffling its prospective audience with a truly ludicrous concept - what if Pinocchio was Bloodborne?

It’s an unquestionably stupid idea, but here’s the thing about stupid ideas - if you take your own silly nonsense seriously enough, you might convince the world it’s brilliant.

‘LIES OF P’ - GAMEPLAY TRAILER!

‘Boy’, this is a ‘real’ treat of a trailer, isn’t it? After its reveal at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live this Summer, we’ve been sitting all wooden and waiting for more on this action souls-like game set in a dark Belle Époque world!

The familiar story of Pinocchio and his own wish to become human has been told in a number of ways, most famously by none other than Walt Disney. The animated (and rather diluted) classic was a constant through my childhood and my nose would grow if I didn’t admit it! But this take on Carlo Collodi’s quite horrifying tale, developed by Neowiz Games and Round 8 Studio - is certainly not for children... The appearance of the Undertaker Rabbits at the very end certainly puts the nail in that coffin!

Sorry kids.

Someone burrowed deep into a nightmare to bring this lot to the surface! Summoned in the book by the fairy to take Pinocchio away in a coffin, which in turn prompts him to take the medicine that saves his life... It’s an eerie example of how this game is taking direct inspirations and from them, will spin its own versions of the horrors that the original tale has to offer.

Gameplay looks smooth and seamless with a certain fluidity that tells us souls-like fans will lap it up! The gothic feel and dark ambience oozing from the in-game locations and characters provide what looks to be a stellar backdrop for this tale to come alive in all of its originally sinister glory! Jiminy Cricket’s voice does however sooth things somewhat. We needed that.

“THE LIGHT SHINES BRIGHTEST IN THE DARKEST OF TIMES.”

With no release date confirmed other than its placement in the TBC 2023 bracket, we’re left to hope that the truth to be told to us very soon. After all... “A lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as plain as the nose on your face.”

She is best known for her starring role in movie musicals like the iconic Wizard of Oz (somewhere over the rainbow still hits hard and is ranked the top film song of all time), meet me in St. Louis (Judy singing have your self a merry little Christmas brings tears to the eyes she is that powerful), the Harvey girls (she looks like a technicolor dream and sings a catchy af song about trains), Easter parade ( dancing and singing with Fred Astaire), for me and my gal, the pirate, and summer stock ( with pal Gene Kelly who she helped when he was starting out and he helped her when she was struggling). But she also does non- singing just as well like the clock ( her first movie where she sings no songs and is an underrated ww2 era romance), her Oscar nominated a star is born ( like the man that got away she put her whole soul in that and I have beef with the fact she lost to grace kelly ((whom I love but like still not even her best work)), and judgement at Nuremberg (a courtroom drama about the nazi war criminal trials). Outside of film she made concert appearances to record-breaking audiences, released 8 studio albums, and had her own Emmy-nominated tv series. She was the youngest (39) and first female recipient of the Cecil B DeMille award for lifetime achievement in the film industry. Girl was a lifelong democrat and was a financial and moral supporter of many causes including the civil rights movement (she was at the March on Washington and held a press conference to protest the 16th street Baptist church bombings). She was a friend of the Kennedy family and would call jfk weekly often ending the calls by singing the first few lines of somewhere over the rainbow (she thought of them as Gemini twins).She was a member of the committee for the first amendment which was formed in response to the HUAC investigations. Though she died far too young and tragically she remains an icon for her work and her life. As a girl who didn't feel like i was as pretty as everyone else I have always felt a connection to Judy and I just really love her.

Natalie Wood (West Side Story, The Great Race)—She went through so much shit which I know can be said for all these women but Natalie really was a star and her death often overshadows her career and life. She could make you cry, but she also had the capacity to be incredibly funny which I think is lost on people.

Wandee Goodday (Sat YT) ep 7 of 12 - There is so much to love about this pair. But one of the things I truly adore is what great communicators they are about what they want & need as friends & as lovers. As boyfriends? Not so much. But the way they can (and do and did) communicate speaks well to their ability to communicate in the future, once they have resolved the inevitable doom the BL gods will reign down upon us over the next 3-4 eps. My Stand-In (Fri iQIYI) ep 8 of 12 - I literally spent this whole show saying “Oh, Poor Joe!” Which is now the actual name of his character: Poor Joe. He's like the country music sad sack. How much is this narrative gonna keep kicking him while he's down?  

Sunset X Vibes (Sat iQIYI) ep 1 of 12 - Star Hunter + MosBank + a beloved familiar face? You ready? Let's go. I got a lot to say.

Unexpected supernatural historical paranormal mythological Sign-esk elements happening in our dream sequence opening. I’m not mad about it. But I do think it’s going to be mishandled in the dubious hands of Star Hunter. My BLabies, no matter what else, with Star Hunter we can rest assured there will be chaos and narrative mess. And now, lucky us, there will be a supernatural mess. But at least it will be sexy and high heat.

Honestly, I'm not worried about MosBank and I know what to expect from Star Hunter,. So we're all on the same page.

Meanwhile, enter a cute side couple (normal for this studio). WAIT a second I know that face! That's Tenon of PitchBank fame (side couple, and only good thing about, Golden Blood). I’m sad to see his pair busted, but delighted to see him pop up again in a BL.

Tenon appreciation time: He kisses beautifully everyone, and he is a killer eye-emoter. We are in for a real treat with this actor. (Especially if we get to a place in the narrative where he pines. OH PLEASE MAKE HIM PINE.)

Okay back to the show. I love Tenon but I also LOVE his infiltrating, wicked smart, younger brother character. This role is great for him. I adore an industrial spy. I enjoy a rich boy pretending to be an intern in his family's company (yes it's a trope, just not common in BL). Excellent work Thailand. No notes.

In conclusion?

It’s a cheesy silly office BL and I am enjoying it immensely because I have no expectations. So don't burst my bubble. Star Hunter is bound to do that on its own without tumblr's help.

We Are Cute (Weds iQIYI) ep 11 of 16 - Oh my God they are all so cute! I love the beginning bit when Peem was feeling down and Phum tried to cheer him up. Ridiculously charming. All the sides were super adorbs too. The actual name of this show is "We Are Cute". Meanwhile, Kluen = the only boy in a BL ever to take his unfinished drink with him? I like him even more now. 

My Love Mix-Up Th (Fri YT) ep 2 of 12 - New take on the umbrella trope to be trapped under a parasol together. NO SINGING. Honestly? I am not loving this as much as I really wanted to love it. It's the middle of the rankings for good reason. I do like the idea of historical Cinderfella BL though. Why isn't that what I'm watching? The play with in a play is a dangerous trope to deploy, it only distracts my with attractive possibilities. 

Love Sea (Sun iQIYI) ep 2 of 10 - I'm gonna try to cycle back to ending this rap-up week on Saturdays, which means the recap for this episode will be in next week's weekly (so to speak). Meanwhile, I am doing a Trash watch on this show. Hopefully that will get updated tomorrow.

Knock Knock Boys (Thurs Gaga) ep 4 of 12 - It’s fun enough. Kind of a pulpy lark. Best + Seng = a surprisingly good match.

Only Boo! (Sun YT) ep 10 of 12 - Good kiss from the sides. No surprises there. The main’s kissing was fine too, I guess. I like that they had a genuine struggle with being an idol and not being able to date. It’s nice to see that depicted on screen in a BL. I wish we had a bit more of a montage around the rise & success of Moo's boy group. But I understand the money in play for this kind of show prohibits that. All in all? It’s fine.

"Ah Stay, I feel so revealed right now," Y/N laughed as she spoke to the camera, opening her dressing room door, ready to grab a blanket, before 8 men were shouting and cheering for her.

"Y/N!!!" they cheered, some gasping as they took in her gorgeous, elegant appearance.

"Ooh, you look hot," Hyunjin winked at her.

"Whoa," Seungmin stood there, for once losing his normally well kept composure.

"This is the most revealing outfit I've ever seen you wear," Jisung gasped, but he couldn't look away.

"I know, I know, it feels so strange!" Y/N nodded along, eyes quickly scanning the room before fixating onto a blanket and wrapping it around her to cover her chest area.

"You really do look beautiful, Y/Nnie," Changbin warmly said.

"How did you get the confidence to pull this off? We've never seen you dressed like this before, wow!" Chan shook his head, giggling lightly.

"Tell me about it! Stylist unnies insisted so I thought I'd try, and, yeah, I don't know," Y/N shrugged and sat down next to Jeongin, leaning her head on his shoulder as she crossed her legs over.

Y/N, we need you back now for some more photos.

"Oh, we bought you some flowers to have in your shoot! I think the staff have just arranged them all!" Felix clapped his hands together excitedly, as Lee Know helped you up to your feet, folding up the blanket to the side.

"Stoppp! You guys are the sweetest, I have the best members," Y/N gushed, looking around at all of them and grinning.

"It's what you deserve, we're so proud of you for working so hard," Changbin beamed at her. He went to pat her head before changing his mind at her styled her and patting her shoulders instead.

"I can't believe you were shy to do this at first. You look like a model!" Han praised her as the shoot finished up.

"I actually really like it now, haha," Y/N did a cute little spin in her dress, though she did nearly trip up on all of the fabric.

"Careful!" Chan's eyes widened.

"Not quite used to these heels yet haha," Y/N blushed as she then took them off, deciding she didn't need to risk her or anyone elses lives.

"I bet you'll be on magazine covers too, these photos are... just wow!" Hyunjin ushered her to run over, his eyes fixated on the smaller screen where a crew member was flicking through the photos.

"This solo debut, wahhh it's going to be so hot!" Jeongin fanned his face.

"Oh wow, I love it!!!" Y/N did a little jump, hand covering her chest as she knelt down next to the two.

"Here, take this," Seungmin handed her his hoodie, which she instantly planted over her head.

"Thanks Minnie," Y/N said, her head tilted backwards, a cute smile on her face, and a slightly crazy look in her eyes which made Seungmin giggle and walk away.

"Bye Stay! We're all heading home now. I've had such a good day with the members surprising me! I hope you enjoy the album once it comes out! Love you Stays!" Y/N blew a kiss to the camera in the back of the car, before Han was snatching it and mockingly doing the same thing.

For some reason you couldn’t learn the coreo that you have to present in 2 days. You had to compete with the other main dancers with the coreo that Bada had presented last time. The song name was “Smoke” and the coreo was absolutely amazing, obviously because Bada created it.

But for some reason, you couldn’t memorize neither the steps and the beat. So here you were, it was 8:30pm and you were in the dance studio with Bada Lee, luckily she offered to help you learn the coreo.

“Okay so, the first step is easy, nothing complicated” Bada explained. “First you have to this, and then this movement, like lighting up a lighter and then you have to blow it. Okay?” she said showing you.

“Okay” you answered.

“Okay so 5, 6, 7, 8” she counted.

You did the movements exactly like Bada show you, watching yourself on the mirror and thinking you did correctly.

“Great job Y/N!” she said with that pretty smile she had. “Now let’s continue with the next part.”

The next part of the dance wasn’t that difficult. It was just simple and strong movements with your arms and legs, not a big deal until…

“You have to move your hips in circles” Bada corrected.

“That’s what i’m doing” you answered.

“No, your not. You moving your hips back and forth, you have to do round movements like this” she showed you. “Do it again”

“Fine”

You did it again trying to copy the movement that Bada did before, but apparently you still did it wrong.

“I can’t” you said frustrated. “Why I can’t? It a simple movement”

“Here, let me guide you”

Bada came closer to you, standing behind your back and placing both hands on your hips. Shivers came down your spine, the touch of Bada always had an effect on you. Her smile, the way she looked at you, of course she never failed to make you nervous.

You tried to breath the most normal way possible, the feeling of her breath on your neck was driving you crazy.

“You have to move them like this” she said guiding your hips in small circles. “In that way you can make the move look cleaner.”

“U-uhm yeah, sure” you said nervously.

“Why are you so nervous, Y/N?” she asked with a smirk on her face, passing her hands from your shoulders down to your lower back.

God. This woman was driving you crazy.

“Nothing. I-I just—” you tried to explain.

“Do I make you fell nervous?” she teased.

Oh shit.

“You looked so pretty today, dancing against Rena, you did it perfectly” she said. “Like always…”

She was talking on your ear, her hand around your waist pressing her body against yours. You felt like you were going to die right there.

“Bada, I think we should continue practicing” you said looking at the mirror in front of you. Watching how your body looked so small compare to hers.

“Oh fuck the dance practice” she finally said.

She turned you around, both of you now face to face. She put one hand on your cheek, finally closing the space between you two with a kiss.

You put your hands around her neck, pushing her lightly towards you, deepening the kiss. She started kissing around your jaw and neck, sucking softly the skin and making you shiver. Your breathing became heavier; feeling Bada Lee, the woman that you were so attracted to, kissing and touching your body, you could fall on your knees at every second.

She started kissing you on the lips again, it was your turn now. You kissed her jaw, leaving open mouth kisses all around that zone.

“God, your driving me crazy Y/N” she said with eyes closed between soft gasps. “Your so hot, i like you a lot”

“You have no idea of how long i’ve ben waiting for this moment” you said giving her another kiss on the lips. “I like you too Bada.”

“Why didn’t we did this before?” she said looking at your eyes.

“I don’t know, maybe you were to shy” you teased this time.

“Nah, if it were for me you would be on my bed long time ago” she answered.

“And what are you waiting for? I can lear the rest of the dance tomorrow” you suggested.

“As you order, beautiful.” she smirked.

This would be definitely a long and probably the best night of your life.
