Amazonite tumble stones

I’m a firm believer in making things you enjoy. Most of the wares and goods I make, I would own or buy. My stone rune sets are where it gets fuzzy: the sets I like and would buy, don’t sell that well. So here’s to hoping someone else enjoys this small set; the urge to keep the shinies is strong 🌿🌙🍂

The sets I enjoy are rough stone or made out of carnelian, moonstone, tiger eye, quartz points, Amazonite( with Smokey and lepidolite bits 😍)and rutilated quartz

The sets that sell the best are polished clear quartz, amethyst, rose quartz, and Smokey. It’s solid combo, especially when it’s a blend of those crystals. Just not my vibe 🙃

At this point this could be about three things. We're in the last stretch of the marching competition season - second half of October concludes the main competitions, the beginning of November is generally just championships and the different versions of state for the different circuits.

It could be about the wedding happening tomorrow. Weddings are tough and it's directly correlated to the main events happening today. Natalie and her fiancé have been a little at odds lately, causing some emotional turmoil in the recent past leading up to the wedding.

It could be my own personal conflict about what I'm supposed to do with my life.

I think this is a clear indicator that it's about the wedding. The wedding is going to be rough, it might start with the rehearsal today. Whether I personally see it or not, there's going to be some emotional tension that's residual from the past couple months of planning. But in the end it's going to happen, and whether it's at the actual wedding itself or after the wedding, Natalie and her fiancé are going to talk it out and make amends, or the wedding is going to be successful because they do this. Their marriage will be, at least.

I might have amazonite to keep in my pocket for today? I have a lot of crystals that I don't actually know the identity of, unfortunately.

Worst case, rose quartz is fitting for the day.

Poetry Month, April 2024: Poem 6: Stone

Sitting outside a friend's country house in the bush today, I contemplated a big ancient slab of rock, matte and rough. Wondered if a small piece of it, sent round a polishing tumbler for hours, would end up a thing of (different) beauty. Or would it be somehow diminished -- in more than size? Reverted to iambic pentameter for this one.

Stone

Can come in rough or smooth – the tougher stuff

can scrape your hand along the mountain trail

and went to make a Minster masterpiece

from chiselled, crafted limestone blocks.

.

But six hours in a tumbler can produce

new polished rocks without an edge

that. somehow fatter, deeper, seem to show

the hundred floating flakes within a rock.

The colours now are better, don’t you think?

Amazonite light green, obsidian --

impenetrable black volcanic glass --

agate, puddingstone, pyrites gold

Precambrian jasper glossy on your thumb.

Three hundred million years can nestle safe

within your pocket or upon your neck.

If all the world’s stone could be made to shine!

The newly-polished sarsens of Stonehenge

would dazzle us at dawn, and pyramids,

turned into glassy icons of our age,

would please us more when stripped of grit and grime.

Chocolate: What’s the best gift your f/o has given you?

The best non-materialistic gift that J and Pat have ever given to me is the space to love myself freely and gain more confidence and boost my self-esteem. Before I met these two, I suffered from a low self-image; my mental health was nowhere near what it is now. Though I still do have my off-days, I am doing better than I ever was. Through them, I have learned the beauty of self-love. 

As for material gifts, I still tear up when I think of the one Pat gave to me. last October, I quit my job of three years and (without going into much detail), I was never truly appreciated for my effort and I had been overlooked as a valuable employee until most of those who had been hired with me were gone. Those employees who had left there prior to me had been given parties upon their departure and the bosses bought them desserts, a plant/flowers, etc. and I was expecting much the same, since I had been a reliable employee from the start. Due to my manager’s misconduct (one of the main reasons for my departure), I was not granted the same treatment and left the job with barely any preamble. So, Patrick did what he does best and, since I was horribly upset from the treatment I received from my manager, he took me to pick out a little plant from the grocery store that he paid for. I’ve had it since October; it’s a Chinese evergreen and it is doing very well. 

My favorite material gift from J is a necklace with a pendant made out of Amazonite. Amazonite represents self love, truth and communication, all of which are incredibly important to me and also were things J wanted me to keep in mind throughout our relationship/within my own life. I gleaned all of this from the gift itself, rather than having him explain; the gift is more meaningful that way.

Sour Patch: Is there a jealous one in the relationship? You or your f/o?

I will say I do not get jealous, however that is not entirely true. Jealousy is not a pretty emotion and it is a very difficult one to overcome; I try not to let it get to me or upset me too badly. My Pat and My J love me very much and that will always be enough to satisfy me. 

I think that both J and Pat are a bit more openly jealous whenever it comes to me; they neither one mind the other gaining my attention, however they will occasionally vie for my attention at the same time and make a sort of ‘game’ out of it. Truth be told, J is slightly more jealous than Patrick simply because he is extremely protective of what is his; he pretends to mope if Patrick and I are not paying enough attention to him. 

Peppermint: Have you and your f/o ever fought?

We have all fought with each other in various situations, though I could not tell you what the catalyst behind those fights were. None of us hold grudges or enjoy becoming angry, therefore our arguments tend to not last very long at all. J’s go on perhaps longer than mine and Pat’s because J can be a bit of a pain; he does not like to admit guilt or apologize, though he always finds a way to  let us know the things he doesn’t say. 

Patrick has a lovely little habit that is what I like to call ‘angry cuddles’. @ajokeformur-ray wrote an adorable little fic (here) explaining the fine intricacies of this most common interaction between us. It is adorable and so, so silly. You might think that J would be more frightening when he is angry, wouldn’t you? NOPE. It’s Pat. Patrick is so very gentle that whenever he becomes really angry, it is so out of character that it can be almost terrifying at times. 

I do not like to fight with my F/Os (they are my happy place) so we try to maintain our good moods with each other.

Skittles: Do you have any headcannons for your f/o?

I have all kinds of headcanons for my F/Os (that is what 1+ years with them will get you😂) I just don’t share lots of them. I will list a few I’ve created that are centered around Patrick’s backstory:

Pat left Australia shortly following adolescence; his grandfather had dreams of adventure and new, “pretty places” as he called them. 

Patrick’s grandfather had been all over the world within his life and was a war veteran. The stories which he told Pat of the grand, vast landscapes the lie past the confines of his little world intrigued him and he developed his grandpa’s sense of wonder and adventure. 

Patrick’s grandpa served as a father figure since his own father had died before Pat was born (I will not list the reason since I do not want to trigger anyone.) For this reason, Pat has always been incredibly close with his grandpa and always felt as though a part of himself were missing when his grandpa decided to move to America late in life. 

Much to his mother’s uncertainty, once he was of high school age she allowed Pat to move to America to live with his grandpa on the condition that he would finish school properly and visit/write as much as he was able. 

This is the extremely shortened version of things that I haven’t quite fleshed out yet. I wanted to share a little bit of this since I’ve already shared so many headcanons about our relationship specifically; I thought it would be interesting to talk a bit more about Patrick’s life and the experiences he had and why he came to America instead of remaining in Australia.

I haven’t put too much thought into this since I haven’t ever been asked about this before, but that makes it all the more interesting since I haven’t discussed it before!

J, Pat and I have a polyamorous relationship, however Patrick is not yet comfortable with being a switch so he and J have yet to be intimate beyond a certain point. J is the main dominant and Patrick and I are subs for him, while Patrick is a dom for me. I am the main submissive. Pat is timid about being a sub for J and J will not push the matter; whenever Patrick is ready, he will make it known.

Not really, no. Ver's a very present person, she likes to live in the moment as much as possible so she doesn't really dwell on daydreams or anything like that

Painting and drawing, she's loves doing it but she also neglects it a lot because she's a bit embarrassed about it because it feels silly

I mean her people first and foremost. She recharges by having those she loves around her, even if it's just sitting in silence watching a movie. She's also very much a comfort eater with desserts and sweet things that she normally tries to limit a little.

Quartz Cluster: What kind of textures (e.g. silky, rough, slick, etc) do they prefer?

Silky, soft, fluffy, all those kind of textures.

Prehnite Memory: How good is their memory? Has it always been like this or did something happen to make it this way?

Pretty good, she's best at remembering things about people though as opposed to like facts and figures.

Liesal as a Diety: @noblehcart

NAMES: So I think that mostly people call her “Mother Liesal”? Like that’s not an exact phrasing, it would probably be more accurately something between “mother” and “lady” but with all the sort of soft maternal connotations and all the powerful respectful connotations. It probably does not translate very well culturally. There used to be mystery cults where you had to be initiated into the cult to learn the true name of the deity, however Liesal doesn’t really strike me as a mystery cult type of girl, not because she couldn’t be but because she wants to have a more open relationship with humanity (humanity can be a lose term). I do think she would ascribe to the “my priests/esses only know/speak my true name on occasions” version of this in a “evokes great power to get my attention NOW” sort of way. ( I was going to do some titles too but I’m over 800 words and my brain won’t do the thing).

TEMPLES: Liesal has some temples, mostly in major hubs, but I think in general she would prefer worship as a sort of house god. Like people put up a little shelf and that’s her shelf but it’s in your house so you visit it daily and it’s just part of your life. Also sort of Kitchen God-esq. The easy thing to say about Liesal’s temples would be that they’re libraries, but tbh the vibe is wrong. I imagine her temples are very homey and warm, they have a lot of green curtains in different shades to accent or divide space. Round doorways and domes. Delicate embellishments but never anything that could be called gaudy. Lots of things made by the people, from bread to teas grown in the mountains to kids who turned their first paintings and samplers into little icons or quilt squared. Green things- living things-flowers. Herbs. And Frescos. Like watercolor murals almost just all over. A place for people to stay if they need safety but mostly for worship.

WORSHIP: little offerings, a lot of them are food. Tiny hand painted icons, many very rough, of people laid at her altar or hearth of people that her worshipers want her to look after. Caring for other people. Preserving old books (priesthood probably). Sprinkles of water on her statues in people’s homes, or trinkets placed on her shelves. Gentle touches. She DOES have a festival though! It takes place on the cusp of spring and summer and involves the erection of temporary alters in town centers where people don’t have temples for her, good food, company, dancing, games- think a mayday vibe, but with less emphasis on fertility and more on enjoying the company of the people you love and telling the stories of your home and your people.

DOMAIN AND FOLLOWERS: Liesal is a goddess of common people mostly. Of course there are scholars that love her and dedicate their lives to her, but mostly it’s just normal people. Her priesthood is mostly female, because it requires a certain amount of love and humility (think people who could conceivably lead storytime) and the men who come thinking they want to pledge her priesthood often realize very quickly they’re too worried about “official scholarship” or the “respectability” of things more than the actual job. Think people who get mad if you call them a cook instead of a chef one time. She’s very widely loved. Liesal isn’t a top 5 type goddess in terms of power, but she makes up for it in influence. Typically people see her as a goddess of stories, poetry, literature, home, family gatherings, gathering places, languages, beautiful things (but in an organic, approachable way), memory, and most importantly perhaps cultural preservation. This also makes her a popular goddess with travelers or people who are living far from home or in foreign lands because they see her, even if she isn’t a goddess of their homeland, as someone who will help them protect and pass down their culture and traditions to the people they love. She also sometimes serves as a muse figure, usually in songs during homey crafting (weaving for example) or as an invocation at the beginning of a piece. Small symbols are often drawn on the first page of books, or painted into soft art, or woven/stitched into handicrafts.

SYMBOLS: some funky almost geometric symbol I’m not going to try to draw but I want you to feel with me, the attached color palette, possibly sunsets, fern leaf peonies, rhododendrons, caucasus, viola incisa, rose root basically weird flowers that bloom in scattered parts of Russia. Snow geese. Sable. Picture books. Probably a comet that comes around about the time of her festival every year. Fuschite or amazonite.
