Sidekick Ahoy! (will probably not rewatch this one ever again unless I’m doing like a 100% full rewatch marathon. For several reasons, I just don’t like this episode at all :/ Still not the worst piece of television I’ve ever seen, buuuuut imo the worst of Rise)

ROTTMNT Bois Strengths vs Weaknesses

I loooove how after these first few episodes we're already seeing a lot of the turtles' strengths and weaknesses! Idk it was really fun for me to try to figure them out so I wanna talk about them here. Disclaimer, I've only ever watched Rise so I might be screwing some stuff up lol.

Raph:

- Obviously in the first episode and Down with the Sickness they were poking fun at him for not doing well under pressure. He has a "fear stink" for failure, especially since he's the leader

- His leadership role seems to be very important to him and almost seems like source of pride? He's always saying stuff like "I'm the leader, so I should do this."

-He tends to jump into action without thinking.

- We've been seeing that he's a big softie (<3) like with first meeting Mayhem and trying not to hurt Donnie's feelings in Donnie's Gifts, which is a weakness in some situations and a strength in others.

- In Donnie's Gifts it seemed like they were trying to point out that he's more emotionally aware than the rest of the bros since he was the only one reluctant to tell off Donnie. I think it might strengthen his leadership.

-Some other strengths are that he's usually the one to take initiative and he's supa strong!

Donnie:

- He's very confident and almost arrogant. I think a lot of his confidence stems from his tech, so once you take it away, he might be totally helpless

-In Donnie's gifts Raph said that he's got a "soft shell," which may have been just a one-off, but I think it alludes to Donnie's insecurity about his tech. Maybe he wanted his bros to like his gadgets so bad because they're such a big part of his self-confidence?

-Gets annoyed easily

-Adrenaline junkie according to a bio. We can see that he's a littlw trigger happy in Fast and the Furriest

-Unlike Raph, Donnie seems less sympathetic, like in Repo Mantis ("hard as nails" lmao) and with the eye-rolls at his brothers, especially in Donnie's Gifts. He unintentionally hurt his brothers by trying to fix them, so he's pretty unaware of how others feel. I think it'll be a weakness for him

- Throughout all the eps we see that he's the most capeable fighter because of his tech. Like in Mystic Mayhem, he's the only one to almost beat Baron. I guess you could say he's got a lot of TECHnical skill

-Some other strengths are that he's a logical problem-solver, and always seems the most prepared

Leo:

-We haven't seen much examples in the show, but interviews and bios have said he's more laid-back and is more concerned with enjoying being a teen. When stuff gets serious, he might be the first to back down cause he doesn't think teens such as them should be the ones responsible for saving the world.

-Also he was the only one who was afraid in Mystic Mayhem? But that might have just been comedic relief

-His puns. are a weakness

-He's kind of clumsy, which I think is a funny contrast to how kewl he tries to be

-He doesn't seem to take things seriously, just going by all the jokes and fooling around he does while fighting.

-Like Donnie, overly confident, except he usually ends up failing

-We've only seen it in Origami Tsunami, but he seems to be the team motivator

-From the same episode, he's the only one to realize they need to take out the foot soliders, not the origamis, which is proof of the bio description that he's a quick thinker

Mikey:

-THIS BOY IS TOO SOFT. SO when it comes to fighting enemies he might be the pacifist, which could lead to conflict between the bros

- Everyone keeps pointing out that Leo is clumsy, but going by the gift Donnie gives him in Donnie's Gifts, the show seems to be pushing Mikey as the more clumsy one

- Being the youngest, definitely the most childish. He had a real strong youngest sibling vibe in Shell in a Cell when he was taking all of Donnie's stuff.

- I'm not really sure about his one, but he was the only one who could open the portal in Mystic Mayhem for some reason? Like didn't he do the exact same thing as Raph? Maybe there's some magic rule we don't know about yet, but they pointed out that he was the "artist" in that scene, so maybe because he's more open-minded/outside-of-the-box he was able to connect to the magic and open the portal?

- Takeaway from the point above, Mikey's creativity is a strength

- From interviews, he's the "eternal optimist," so when things get tough, he might be the one to see the bright side

I think it would be really cool if we could eventually see all their strengths manifest together and have them become a PERFECTLY FUNCTIONING TEAM. Like maybe Raph is the emotional support, Donnie is the weapon, Leo is the planner, and Mikey catches all the stuff that no one else notices? It's waaay early to be predicting stuff like this. In fact, everything I've said here might be totally wrong but I'm just really excited about this show! (obvious, looking at the towering pile of fanart I've done lol)
