More random ina11 headcanons because these boys live rent free in my head:

- Gouenji is neurodivergent, undiagnosed, and is the "way too much eye contact what is wrong with you" type

- With what happened with Kageyama and his legal father being not really present in his life, Kidou ended up seeing coach Kudou as his main father figure. Him and Fuyuka became very good friends because of that.

- Kazemaru and Midorikawa have a huge sweet tooth, especially for cake and pastries

- Sakuma's hair is naturally silver, no one knows why

- Saginuma is very careful with his appearance, takes care of his hair and skin, and has a lot of interest in fashion. He is a proper pretty boyTM with a murderous aura

- Ichinose is bisexual

- Touko's dad is very supportive of her being trans and lesbian, but has a hard time with lgbt terminology and ends up being lowkey embarrassing sometimes (she still loves him though he tries hard)

- Hibiki regularly visited Yuuka during the Aliea arc when her brother was away

- Kidou has a comfort penguin plushie and physically cannot sleep without it

- Speaking of Kidou, his autism makes it hard for him to tolerate bright lights, especially in indoor stadiums (like at Teikoku). His goggles, aside from helping him focus his sight, also help dim the lights (hence why he wears them even outside of games)

- Endou hates baths so much because of dysphoria

- Endou and Touko bonded over being trans and were baffled to learn that the girls thought they were having a romantic thing (mlm wlw bffs)

- Endou being trans is also why Fuyuka didn't recognize him at first (he changed a lot)

- Oh my God the Inazuma caravan is basically autismland

- After the Aliea arc, Hiroto moves in with Hitomiko and she spoils him a bit too much

- Someoka, Saginuma, Tobitaka and Genda grow facial hair early on through puberty

- Fudou actually doesn't like his haircut anymore but he's too proud to admit it looks stupid and grow his hair.

- During the FFI, Kidou, Sakuma and Fuyuka do most of the translating and interpreting since they're the only ones who speak several languages

Long hair/older Rolan has me in such a chokehold right now. Like, what's he like when he's older?? I'd imagine a lot more confident. More comfortable with himself and self assured. -The second sexiest thing on EARTH is confidence (the first is kindness) and that is why older people often seem attractive in a new light. I absolutely think our boy would be a lot more confident with age and I’m MELTING thinking about it.

-I don’t think he would be more egotistical but I think he’d be less likely to suffer fools like older people do (you feel me). So while I think he’d be softer with his loved ones (never completely soft of course! Always our grouch!) he could actually be harsher with people he doesn’t like.

-Men entering middle age finally get that first metabolism slow down and fill out a little and I find that SEXY. So I think we’d see a little less of the lankiness and a little more meat on his bones.

- I like thinking about long hair older Rolan with a slightly broader jaw too and a touch of gray.

-He approaches you in the morning quietly, you’re dazed off looking out a window and sipping your very first cup of coffee. You feel his presence right before his arms coil around your waist and he rests his chin on your shoulder. His long hair is pulled into a messy bun first thing upon waking and he’s not wearing a shirt yet. His tail coils around your ankle in an embrace that has become familiar and beloved over the years. The weight of him is warm and calming, you feel more complete already.

Nuzzling his nose into your neck he groans out “morning, love”. He leaves a few soft kisses on your neck, right where he knows you’ll let out a tiny gasp for him — every time. You can feel him smile against your skin the moment you make that little sound he loves so much. Your free hand traces down his arm and comes to rest over his hand where you rub your fingertips over the metal band on one of his fingers, the one you stuck there all those years ago. Things are perfect.

Julius Reinberg analysis post because I can't stop rotating him in my head like a rotisserie chicken

(I was going to call it an appreciation post but he’s kind of a jerk. Love him anyways though.)

Lots and lots of manga spoilers so read at your own discretion

Julius is introduced as one of the most skilled wizards in Will's class. He's able to cast one of Elfaria's spells (albeit half as good as her). Another notable trait is his ego. He thinks he's better than others and looks down on them. At first, he's a massive jerk, but the story has him stick around after Will humbles him in their fight, and I honestly love what they do with him even though he's just a side character.

To me, Julius plays a similar to Sion as one of Will’s rivals. Both of them won’t let themselves be bested by Will which also pushes them to improve. The difference is that Sion is much more fair (I think he also kind of has an inferiority complex when it comes to Will but we won’t be talking about that today). As shown later in the manga, Julius isn't afraid to use Will to climb the tower himself.

One of my favorite moments showing Julius’ growth. Edward tells the dwarves to help the wizards even if they may die in the process and, oh look at that, Julius gets a reaction panel. He’s seemingly just as shocked as the dwarves to hear this. And then, he calls out to Gina as one of the monsters attacks, worried for her safety.

Part of Will defeating him earlier was that he had to work in the dwarves' tavern after disrespecting them earlier. And this moment shows how that affected his character. Julius didn't just take his punishment and turn back to his old ways. He came to respect and care about those he previously looked down on.

I think this is the moment that really made Julius intriguing to me because we get see what's below the surface of his character. The choice to not be kind because showing kindness only seemed to bring pain. You find out why he acts the way he acts.

It’s a moment that could definitely make him come as more unlikeable. He admits he likes looking down on others and showing off, but I think it more reveals how on the fence he is about this decision. He’s constantly reminded of when Anna told him how she loves how kind he was. He kept the pendant she gave him when he could have easily thrown it away and fully discarded the notion of ever being kind again. He hates that Will reminds him of Anna. Despite how much he wants to abandon his kindness, he’s reminded of how much it was valued. Julius is a very interesting character because there are times where he falls on one side of the fence and chooses to not be kind, but he also has times where he does because he can’t seem to fully get rid of it.

And I think this moment also shows Will's strength as a protagonist since he is able to draw out this other side of Julius (this happens with other characters like Wignall and Lihanna too). This boy is so good at seeing others’ strengths. He notices Julius’ resolve and how he follows through on his promises. He picks up on the kindness Julius thought he had left behind.

I'm so sad, HE DIDN'T DESERVE THIS!!! And Will says, "Julius was kind enough to leave us a clue." Despite Julius not believing in his own kindness, his final moments are spent creating a guardian that will help the others find out the truth.

In conclusion, I came to like Julius a lot as a character. He's initially an antagonist, but he grows and we come to learn more about his motivations. He says he only cares about himself and not others, but his actions reflect someone who's hardworking, always follows through on their promises, and can be kind.

Dragon and Dadan sibling-ism rotating in my head like a rotisserie chicken rn i can’t lie.

Her constantly calling him a blockhead leads me to believe they’ve done the Charlie Brown football bit, I mean how could they not!

Dadan never actually moves the football, Dragon's a strong little fella but he is deeply unathletic. He’s kicked the grass, slipped on air, kicked Dadan's hand, everything BUT the damn ball. Until one day where he’s feeling on top of the world! He begs (the best he can anyway with his generally impassive face) his sister and claims that today is the day!

So they head out that same afternoon, sets everything up and Dragon is off to the races. The wind was good, he wasn’t tripping on any leaves, he winds up and…!

Kicks Dadan in the face at full speed, right on the nose too.

The end results tally up to one black eye, one bloody nose, one blubbering baby boy and a vehemently made promise to never listen to a blockhead ever again.

If you listen closely, you can hear Garp laughing his ass off from five miles away.

Dragon still feels awful about it to this day, and Dadan still passive aggressively reassures him about it to this day.

Though I do think the Monkey D “Little Shit” genes will eventually kick in and those two are scrapping like they hate each other, but seas forbid anybody says a cross word about the other to one of their faces.

The only time Dadan has ever seen Dragon genuinely angry was when somebody tried to steal her necklace. It happened in middle school, there was a huge fight, Dragon got temporarily suspended, the would-be thief got hospitalized for a cracked rib and a broken nose, and Garp…

Garp gave him the “how much worse off did the other guy look?” thing after chewing him out for getting into a fight. Urpi approved.

I can't believe it's already the last day 😭😭 I decided to write something for today but I am currently not at my best writing-skill-wise, so I hope this feels coherent because I can't tell!!

Also, I hope you guys like run-on sentences because there are a lot of them in this bad boy 🙃

Sleepless

Sirius can't sleep.

Not because he isn't tired enough, the last gig has him bloody exhausted.

Not because the small bunk in the band bus is too uncomfortable, he's used to it.

Not because it's cold, because Peter fucked around a little too much with the AC yesterday and now it's broken and slowly turning their bus into a cooling chamber, Sirius prefers to sleep cold.

Not even because of Remus' obnoxious snoring - really how can such a noodly man produce sounds like that? Maybe he should be the one doing the growling in their songs! - after years of sharing a tight space with these fuckers he almost misses it when it's gone.

No. It is because their bloody vocalist cannot fucking stop tossing and turning in the bed below him and the constant vibrations are driving him mental.

After hours of this, Sirius decides that enough is enough. He leans over the edge of his bunk and pulls back the curtain hiding the offender.

"Knock it off, Prongsie, will you? I can't bloody sleep if you keep rotating like a fucking rotisserie chicken!"

Another rumble, then James Potter - singer of the legendary subversive metal band "The Marauders" - pops his touseled head out and puffy, hazel eyes blink up miserably at Sirius - making his annoyance turn into affection in the aforementioned blink of those eyes.

"Sorry Pads, but I'm freezing. That bloody AC is blowing right onto my bed."

Sirius sighs.

He can never be mad at James for long anyways. His current record stands at three consecutive hours after James had had the audacity to solve all the crosswords in the newspaper without him when he knows Sirius needs these to wake up in the morning! He had been very grumpy that day but James had made it up by buying him a stack of local newspapers from the country they were touring in, which added an additional linguistical challenge. And Sirius appreciates a challenge.

James does actually look cold. He is already wearing a thick hoodie, the hood halfway pulled over his messy head of hair, his arms wrapped around himself.

How could anyone be mad at that sight?

"Fine then, come up here." Sirius pats the scarce space next to him.

James doesn't hesitate to take him up on the offer for a second and a moment later he is shuffling into Sirius' bunk, squishing him back into the wall of the bus.

Sirius pulls the duvet over his miserable best friend and wraps an arm around his waist. It's for security reasons. James could fall out!

He can feel how much he is shivering now and it does concern him a little. James is usually a fucking radiator, something years of - very platonic - bed-sharing in boarding school have taught Sirius.

"Shit, you are actually cold, mate. Are you alright?," he asks quietly, with genuine concern. They have a gig tomorrow and if James gets sick... that would be a desaster!

"Fucking told you," James mutters and buries his icy face in the crook of Sirius' neck.

He resists the impusle to push him off on impact, because fucking hell this may be cold but it feels way too good.

They don't often get to be close like this anymore. Well, technically they get way closer on the regular, when they exchange sloppy kisses in the middle of a show - all just for fun and entertainment of course! You gotta earn your reputation somehow!

But sometimes Sirius finds himself missing how they were in school. Always joined at the hip, used to sharing the smallest of spaces just to be together. The casual intimacy that had filled him with a level of buzzing contentment and happiness he hasn't been able to find anywhere else. Neither with the groupies he occasionally takes backstage and never does anything more than snogging with, because it doesn't feel right. Nor with any of the drugs and alcohol that naturally sneak their way into the life of most successful musicians.

With James it was different. It was real.

Sirius' heart flutters like it used to when he feels the familiar hot breath on his skin and he can't resist the urge to pull James just a little closer.

James responds with a content sigh that vibrates against Sirius' neck.

"Better?," Sirius asks. His mouth feels a bit dry all of a sudden.

"Better," James murmurs and wraps his own arms around Sirius so they're entirely pressed together now.

Sirius tries not to hold his breath. Damn it why is this making him so fucking nervous? It's just James! They've done this a hundred times before!

Then you didn't know what it feels like to kiss him.

Sirius shakes his head to drive away the thought. Where did that come from?!

James lifts his head.

"What's wrong?"

"Huh?"

"Shook your head."

"Oh. Nothing. Just a weird thought."

James frowns and watches him intently. Sirius knows he can't actually see anything without his glasses but he still feels like James is staring into his soul.

Obnoxious, really. He can't help but smile.

"I'm fine, Prongs. I swear."

James doesn't seem convinced and props himself up a little on his arm.

"Are you sure? Are you stressed about tomorrow?"

Sirius waves him off. "Why would I be scared of tomorrow? It's just Gelsenkirchen, how bad can it be?"

James shrugs sleepily and sinks back into the pillow. Back next to Sirius, so that their noses are almost touching.

"You just seem a little tense."

"Probably because someone didn't let me sleep," Sirius says, but there is no sharpness in his tone. James is way too close and it makes his heart race.

Kiss him.

He squeezes his eyes shut tightly. This is ridiculous! Where is this even coming from?

Sirius' eyes fly open again, when cold fingers touch his cheek, brushing a stray strand of hair behind his ear.

"You did it again. What's wrong? Tell me?"

The gentle concern in James' quiet voice almost makes Sirius choke. It always does. But this time, their closeness adds to the fluttering feeling in his chest.

"I'm just having weird thoughts," he gives in. "But I'm fine. Just sleep."

"What thoughts?"

James' hand is resting in Sirius neck, drawing tender circles behind his ear.

Sirius scoffs and evades his eyes. "None of your buisness."

James' fingers wander onto the back of his head, gently massaging his scalp. "Is it because of the interview? I know the tabloids are rats. But who cares what they think?"

Right. Sirius had blissfuly forgotten about that. The interview with reporters from 'Bild', a German newspaper known for spreading misleading gossip. The last time The Marauders had spoken to them, they had turned it into a whole story about James and him being a couple, twisting their words like play doh. Sirius had been furious! Yes, they were kissing on stage and shared a flat in London (it was more convenient that way!) and maybe they had said "spending time with each other" when asked for their favorite part of touring, and maybe Sirius had written most of their more emotional songs about James - but that didn't mean anything! It was all platonic. Brotherly, basically!

You know it isn't.

Sirius swallows hard and tries to ignore how close James' lips are to his own.

"I'm not exactly looking forward to it," he states matter of factly and makes the mistake to look into James' eyes again.

Maybe a kiss would be nice...

No! What the fuck, this is absurd! He doesn't... Fuck. James cannot find out. He would be weirded out for sure! The kissing is solely part of the show. James would never want to do that in private.

"Do you want to snog a little?"

Sirius stares at him for a second. "What?"

James' eyes flicker down. "I don't know, I was just... I just thought... It may warm me up. And take your mind of your 'weird thoughts'..."

What are they doing here?

"Okay. Sure."

James' eyes meet his again. For the first time Sirius doesn't know what the look in them means.

The kiss is different to what they do onstage. Less tounge, unhurried, tender. Sirius thinks he is suffocating on his feelings but he doesn't care. If this is how he dies then so be it.

His hand moves up into James' hair. James' shuffles so he is slightly on top of him. A choked sigh frees itself from Sirius' tight chest and escapes his lips.

This is real too, he thinks and this time he doesn't try to discard the thought.

When James pulls back he stays close, hovering over his face, lips wet, pupils dilated, eyes locked with Sirius'.

"James..."

James swallows. "Padfoot..."

"I think..."

James nods. "Yeah. Me too."

A smile creeps onto Sirius' face that he has now idea how to stop. Maybe it's pointless to try.

James matches it and brushes his nose against his. "Let's not tell the tabloids though."

Sirius nods. "None of their buisness."

They exchange another kiss, breathing in eachother's scent, their tounges dancing idly around eachother in between their lips. James is playing with Sirius' earrings and Sirius keeps wrapping the short strands of James' thick hair around his finger.

Sirius never wants it to stop but finally sleep is catching up on them and James' head sinks down onto his chest.

"Let's save the rest for tomorrow," he murmurs drowsily.

Sirius buries his face in his hair and pulls him close. "Are you warm now?"

But James is already gone, joining in on Remus' snoring - though considerably more quiet.

Sirius can't sleep.

He cannot wait for tomorrow.

The thing is, I don't actually hate Hylia. Well kinda... I don't like her as a person, but she's an interesting character to dissect yk? I rotate her in my head like a rotisserie chicken similar to the links but without the tender love and care I give to the boys. she's more like one of those ragdoll apps you can get.

She's a goddess who has her own weird and (not)wonderful moral compass, sending literal children to fight and then creating a self-insert sona to ship with a reincarnated version of her past 'lover' she's not inherently good but also not inherently bad. she's grey, and that's fun!!! I do like to bash her because IMO it's the more interesting way to rip her thought process and actions to shreds, rather than seeing her as this all-good infallible god

but you're right, it really doesn't look that good for her when you start putting her actions under scrutiny - but also... what gods look good when you do? she has her reasons, but the real question is do her actions all line up with it or could she have done it in a better way? is sending children to fight a gods war really the answer?

they're fun questions to ask and think about - and I have a lot of opinions on them!!

moreid thought: Morgan discovering he is polyamorous after getting married. He and Savannah discuss it and shes so loving and understanding and encourages him to pursue Reid. Reid,who has been pining for YEARS btw, at first doesn't get that Morgan is actually flirting with him because he's naturally such a flirty person, anyway. Morgan asks him to meet up to see a movie and have dinner. Reid notices it feels like a date, especially when Morgan tucks his hair behind his ear when he calls him Pretty Boy. Happily they are mature enough to actually communicate before the end of the night and Morgan tells him he intended for it to be a date and that he's poly, and bi. Which Reid enthusiastically chirps that he's bi as well, and holds onto his arm as they stroll along. When Morgan drops him off that night its with long, drawn out (pressed against the door, complete with soft whimpers!), kisses and several almost goodbyes. Until they are both panting and making heart eyes and actually part ways for the night.

Maybe you know about the history of these crossovers in Batman Fandom?

(Fellow Maribat fans, feel free to add your own commentary or correct any of my mistakes.)

So @/ozmav created the Damian x Marinette ship in 2018, I think? It was just a fun little crossover that blew up and became really popular. I was not around either of those fandoms at the time, so I'm not sure about all the details.

Daminette was the first Maribat ship created, so it was around the longest, and thus accumulated the most works.

Eventually, the other Bat Boys got their own ship, and now the Maribat (or now, more technically, DCxMLB) fandom has so many more ships and crossovers -not necessarily between the Bat/MLB main characters.

Some rarepair ships (any DCxMLB ship not between one of the four main Bat Boys and Marinette) include Konette (Conner Kent/Superboy and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Timdrien (Tim Drake/Red Robin and Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir), to name a couple.

The Maribat fandom also crosses over with multiple fandoms, like DPxDCxMLB or MCUxDCxMLB.

Some pure MLB and DC stans definitely dislike Maribatters, especially during the beginning of the fandom, when the tags for both fandoms were cluttered with DCxMLB content. Now that it's grown so much and has its own tags, I think the hate has calmed down somewhat. (Although, I prefer to keep out of fandom drama, so I may simply have missed the hateful discourse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.)

Overall, the Maribat fandom has really grown from a crack ship to its own large, well-populated community. There are tags on Ao3 and many discord servers, which runs events such as "Jasonette July" and "Maribat? Get In! [a server] Civil War".

On a personal note:

As to my thoughts on the ships themselves, my favorites are Daminette (Damian Wayne/Robin and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Jasonette (Jason Todd/Red Hood and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug). It's always fascinating to rotate a character or ship in your head like a rotisserie chicken, considering their Canon and Fanon traits and then exploring them in whatever medium you choose (my medium of choice is writing fanfiction).

For Daminette, the ship you specifically asked about, I am drawn to it because I find the differences between the couple adorable. I personally have a fondness for the Grumpy x Sunshine trope, a Tsundere male lead, and relationship/character growth. (Of course, sometimes it's nice just to read a cute 500 word drabble with no plot, no specific dynamics, and no development, where the couple is just cute and happy.)

I think that is one of the beauties of Maribat. With so many various ships and characters to choose from, there's something for everyone, and we can all bond over belonging to the same fandom(s). Some of us have joined from the MLB side, some from the DC side, some just got dragged in by a friend and have no knowledge of either fandom, and that's okay! With so much to explore in both fandoms, there is constantly new content* being made with love (and tears. And laughter, both evil and joyful. And hornin-).

I've made some of my best friends through this fandom, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
